FYI, the next couple chapters will have cameos from My Life as a Teenage Robot. I do not own them, or anyone from Rugrats/AGU.

It wasn't hard for Errol to find coffee bags in the Pickles' kitchen. He just simply looked in the cabinet Didi labeled 'caffeine'. Simple, really. Errol had brewed himself a small shot to get himself awake (it was 6:42 am) when he heard footsteps coming down from the stairs. He saw Kimi coming into the kitchen, and to his surprise, she was fully dressed in normal clothes...well, almost. True, she was dressed in her usual long sleeved shirt with the bra straps showing, as well as one of those jeans with a hole on the kneecaps. But on top of those were a long bathrobe and she was still wearing slippers.

"Now, are you half awake or half asleep?" asked Errol.

"With a shot of that, I'll be full awake," replied Kimi, "But not really. I don't do well with coffee. Maybe I'll just catch up on some sleep on the drive there."

"Suit yourself," Errol said, pouring the whole shot down his throat.

"So what's the game plan?" asked Kimi.

"Well, before everyone turned in last night, I looked up Tremorton a bit more and found a couple names," replied Errol, "Dr. Phineas Mogg and Dr. Nora Wakeman. I figure we'd pay both of them a visit, see if they know anything about what I'm looking for."

"Stuff for our science project?" asked Kimi.

"Yeah, sure," replied Errol, "Actually, something came up that I might also look into, but that's only secondary."

It was a lie, of course. This trip had diddly-squat to do with the science project. There was nothing more they needed to do for it. He just needed answers for the incident at the Tremorton convention.

"Wait," pondered Kimi, "Do you...have a driver's license?"

"Nope."

"So...how do we get there?"

"We drive."

"But you just said..."

"I had plenty of practice on other nights I needed to travel unnoticed," replied Errol, "This time is just a little more distance."

"I'm gonna hold you to that," said Kimi.

The two had shut off the kitchen light and began to proceed out when Kimi noticed Angelica asleep on the couch. While Errol already knew the story behind this, Kimi did not, so was relatively surprised to see nothing but Angelica's head and feet, everything else covered by a heavy blanket.

"What happened to her?" asked Kimi.

"Nothing to worry about," replied Errol, "Though I wouldn't get in her way once she wakes up. She might feel a little...nasty."

"So what else is new?" Kimi asked rhetorically.

True to her word, Kimi was fast asleep by the time Errol had driven out of town. This was good news and bad news for Errol. The good news was that she wouldn't be able to complain about his driving like an overprotective mom. The bad news, however, was that she was easily distracting Errol. Twice in the first half of the drive, Errol nearly swerved off the road (despite the fact it was surprisingly open this early in the morning) from the view. Not the grassy mountains that shielded the left side of the road. Not the sunrise and ocean on the other side. Errol couldn't resist staring at Kimi. He knew that the two of them were becoming friends, much like the others. But unlike the others, Errol didn't have to breathe heavier to keep up with an overly beating heart. He didn't admit to himself that he was looking at a thing of beauty. That's slowly but surely what Errol had seen Kimi as. Too often was he tempted to caress her cheek while she slept, or maybe brush through her raven hair...

What the hell? Errol snapped out of his thoughts, Oh man, what was that? I...I never studied this kind of human behavior before. How do I control this?

If Errol wasn't snapped out of his thoughts before, the two delivery trucks crashing in front of him certainly did. Startled beyond belief, Errol slammed on the brakes. But since the road was on a slope, it didn't help much. Parts of the truck began to fly in all different directions. And just as the two drivers ran out, both trucks exploded, sending car chunks flying towards them. Errol took his foot off the brakes and slammed on the pedal towards the other direction on the forked road. He just lost his left mirror to a fiery metal chunk, he wasn't about to lose the car, or his life, along with it. Just as Errol had put the debris behind him, Kimi woke up, feeling the vibration of the explosion. She groggily turned her head to look behind them, and instantly got a wake-up kick from seeing the explosion.

"What just happened?" she cried.

"Only the single scariest moment of my life," replied Errol, "Hey, is it possible for a person to shit their pants while driving? Because if it is, I might have just done that. And if it isn't...I might have just done that anyway."

"That's odd for you to be that surprised by anything," said Kimi, "You usually aren't phased by anything...not even something coming out of Dil's mouth."

"Yeah, well, I had never had car chunks flying at me before," added Errol, "That's something that would scare me."

Only a couple minutes passed, and it was spent in completely silence after the explosion that sent them on a detour. Or was it? For when the next open road came along, one of the green signs placed at the intersection read 'Tremorton, CA, 6 miles.'

"Well whataya know?" Errol laughed, "We may have actually just taken a shortcut."

5 minutes later and they had arrived in Tremorton. And thankfully, Errol didn't really shit his pants. He parked in a small parking lot outside the local high school. Just in time for the second class bell to ring. While they were both younger than the high school students, Errol looked older than one. It would be easy for him to make his way around, and Kimi would do fine so long as she stayed with him.

"Is there something we need at the school?" asked Kimi.

"A directory," replied Errol, "I want to start small with this search. No attracting more attention than we need, so anywhere near this town's city hall is out of the question. Maybe Dr. Wakeman or Dr. Mogg have children that attend the school. If that's the case, their parents' contact info will be right with their children's info."

"But how are you going to get through?" asked Kimi.

"Watch and learn..."

"Of course," said the receptionist, "Here's their info."

The receptionist in the school's front office gave two papers to Errol upon request.

"Well, anybody could have asked that," said Kimi, "I thought you had a more elaborate plan than that!"

"Never play an ace if a two will do," Errol quoted, perusing the two sheets, "Ah, we're in luck. Both the scientists have a student here. XJ9 "Jenny" Wakeman and YK9 "Kenny" Mogg."

"Those are...their first names?" asked Kimi.

"Strange, I'll admit," replied Errol, "But it could be stranger."

Stranger it got. However a cat managed to get its way into the school, it was being chased by a solid robot with slightly human physical appearances. But it was literally chasing the cat on all fours.

"Why is Kenny chasing a cat?" one of the students asked.

And soon after this, two more students came by. A robot girl with a blue mini skirt and top, with equally blue pigtails, and a geek following shortly behind her.

"So Jenny, you wanna..."

"Can't right now, Sheldon!" the robot girl explained, "My mom will blow a cork if I don't get my new add-ones before tonight's exhibit!"

As the robot girl ran out the school doors leaving a disappointed Sheldon behind, Errol and Kimi both came to the bizarre conclusion.

"Were those...actual robots?" asked Kimi.

"I suppose if anyone could make humanoid robots, it's a scientist," replied Errol, "But since the female robot seemed more self-aware, I think maybe we'll inquire her mother first."
