I do not own Twilight. No copyright infringement is intended. All mistakes are mine.

I'm sitting in my cubicle trying to catch up on emails when Emmett McCarty comes in, and due to his size, my work space is reduced to claustrophobia inducing levels. He's a nice guy, but his personality can be a bit much at times. Considering he's the only person that's bothered to introduce himself since I started here, I school my features into a friendly smile.

"Hey man, there's a new record store opening on Main Street. Like, they're gonna sell actual vinyl. You want to check it out after work?"

"Yeah, Em, that sounds cool. I'll meet you out front at six."

After an awkward man-shake, Emmett makes his way back to his work station. It's not that I don't like hanging out with him, I'd just rather sit in my apartment and listen to music. I enjoy classics and opera, and these guys would laugh their asses off if I were to admit that. I can't even imagine their reactions if they found out I played piano.

The rest of the afternoon passes quickly. I gather my things and head down to the lobby to wait for Emmett. He's right on time and we head toward the record store on foot since it's a mild evening.

The record store appears to be empty, but a female voice greets us from the back. I'm trying to pinpoint her location when a slender woman makes her way toward the front of the store.

"Hi guys, I'm Bella, are you looking for anything in particular today?"

This woman looks nothing like any of the women I've dated previously, and if asked to describe my type, I would never have imagined her, but she is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Mahogany hair pulled into a ponytail, leather shorts and a vest reveal pale skin covered in brightly colored tattoos, and combat boots to complete the look. Her wide set chocolate brown eyes are open and friendly as she smiles at us, waiting for an answer to her question.

Even Emmett, who is normally so confident around the opposite sex, is tongue tied. We both mumble something like 'just looking' and wander aimlessly to different corners of the store. After browsing a bit, I find a few albums I don't have and make my way to the register.

I place my selections on the counter and try not to make a fool of myself.

Bella rings up my purchases and comments on a few.

"I didn't peg you for a classical music guy. I was thinking more Indie-Rock. This album is actually one of my favorites."

"You're a fan of classical music?"

"Don't seem so shocked. Didn't you mother tell you not to judge a book by it's cover?"

I smiled ruefully at Bella conceding her point. Without thinking I decide to stop playing so safe and throw caution to the wind.

"Bella, my name is Edward. Do you think I could buy you a cup of coffee sometime?"

"Absolutely."
