Sorry for the late update guys!
Chapter Fourteen:
~Guin Vulcan's POV
"What did you just say."
"I want to break up with Darren."
"I thought his name was Daniel."
"You don't even know his name and your about to explode because I want to break up with him. What the heck, Cali?!"
"He's rich. Really rich. He's not bad looking either."
I slapped the palm of my hand to my forehead and sighed. I had known Cali since I was a little girl. Truth be told she was my cousin. Meaning I was stuck with her whether I liked it or not.
"Look, Cali, I almost never see Darren. Our relationship pretty much is being held together by the press. And then I look at men like Cody and women like Valora, -who is STILL missing- and I wonder what the point is. People like that are putting their lives on the line so people like me and you can live in peace," I sigh. "Also, I hate being helpless. It's all my fault Valora got taken. I was too weak to defend myself."
Cali glanced over at the snoring ARC trooper who had been assigned to watch us and sighed. She pulled out her blood red lipstick and ran it over her lips. It took all my willpower not to smack it out of her hand. I hated that lipstick. It clashed with her hair and was the color of blood. Eww. Just. Eww.
"Then become a mercenary like me," my cousin said at last.
"But I don't want to be a mercenary!" I whine.
Cali throws her hands in the air in exasperation. "THERE IS NO PLEASING YOU IS THERE!?"
The ARC trooper, Bolt I think his name was, sat up quickly, his blaster in hand. He relaxed when he realized everything was okay and we weren't being attacked or anything. "Everything alright, miss?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Cali is just being loud. You can go back to sleep if you like." I leaned back to avoid Cali's attempt to whack me.
Bolt gave us a look, but let it go. He got comfortable in the chair again and soon started to snore again.
"Next time, keep your voice down," I snapped at Cali.
The red-head rolled her eyes, stood up, and went to the kitchen. I sighed and followed. We made ourselves dinner and sat down at the kitchen table.
"You think I should wake up Bolt and make him some food?" I asked.
Cali shook her head and took another bite from her salad. I rolled my eyes. Cali isn't the nicest person in the world. So, I decided to do the exact opposite of what she said.
After I finished my sandwich I went into the kitchen, put my plate in the sink, and started making a sandwich for Bolt. I didn't know what the ARC trooper liked so I just put a bunch of random stuff on it. Lunch meat. Cheese. Various vegetables you would put on a sandwich and condiments.
I took the plate into the living room, where Bolt was asleep still and Cali sat on the couch.
"You know what your problem is?" she said. "You're too nice."
"Oh, shut up."
I shook Bolt's shoulder until he woke up.
"What is it, ma'am?" he asked, standing up.
"I made you dinner," I replied, handing him the plate that held the sandwich.
Bolt smiled at me. I liked his smile. "Thank you, miss."
"You're welcome," I replied and then went back to the kitchen to clean up. Cali followed.
"Again, you are too nice," Cali said as I started to clean off the dirty plates and put them in the dish washer.
"Maybe a bit of niceness is what the galaxy needs."
"Niceness gets you killed."
"No, stupidity does."
"Whatever."
