This chapter was a little iffy for me. I wasn't too sure about this one, and I'm still not. Let me know if you enjoyed it or not

There is, in fact, a new Castle on tonight, and I thought I would give you all a little present before we watch the 'soapy' episode of Castle. I know I'm freakin' excited!

Disclaimer: Castle still doesn't belong to me, and any mistakes that were made in this chapter are completely my fault.

Eventually after many congratulations and chattering outside the hotel, everyone had moved into the dining hall they had reserved for the week. Drinks were brought out, and everyone was chatting idly about different topics.

Ryan and Esposito were joking about something from a few years prior that happened in the town they were in, Lanie and Jenny standing, rolling their eyes and having their own conversation about how their significant others were a ball full of strange.

Josh was talking to a few of his fellow 'Doctors Without Borders' about his injury that he was still recovering from. Their conversation slowly shifted from the earthquake in Haiti to the earthquake in Japan and how a few of their friends were over there, helping those in need.

A few of the detectives were talking about cases they had with a few of the doctors, in exchange of hearing the gruesome details of some of the trauma cases the doctors had received in the ER.

The Captain of the 12th was talking to the Chief of Surgery at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital about their teams and how proud they were of them, each trying to one up the other about different cases they had solved or received and successfully accomplished.

No one had noticed the soon-to-be bride walk out towards the beach, her heels off of her feet and a drink in her hand.

Except one person; Richard Castle.

Her feet hit the soft, warm sand and sunk in, her white sundress which she had changed into to get out of the jeans and shirt she had worn to work rushed around her legs as the wind blew it all over the place. She slowly walked to the water, the drink in her hand moving to her lips as she took a small sip.

She was never one for socializing. Everyone she knew knew that. So, she knew that no one would be surprised if they didn't see her.

So when she heard footsteps in the sand behind her, she was surprised. So surprised that she turned to see the blue eyes staring down at her, a small smile on his face. In return, there was a smile that began to form on her own features.

"I thought I would find you out here." His voice was soft, but she could hear it over the crash of the waves and the whistle of the wave. He was standing next to her, his arms crossed as he looked out at the ocean. "Actually I saw you walk out here." A small smirk was playing at his lips, his eyes looking down at her before going back to the ocean blue.

"It was getting just a bit crowded in there. I needed some air." Finishing the drink in her hand she set it down on the sand, straightening her back and a few loud pops coming from the bones. Falling asleep in the back of the car wasn't a good idea.

"That sounds a bit painful. You feelin' alright?"

"Yeah, slept on the way here. The seats in Esposito's car aren't as comfortable as they look. I'll sleep it off tonight and be shiny and new tomorrow morning." Looking over at Rick, she sighed before she looked out into the water. The sun was turning the sky a vibrant array of reds, oranges and pinks. In exactly seven days, she was going to be at her own wedding, saying 'I do.'

As her thoughts of her wedding day ran through her head, she didn't even notice Castle move from beside her to behind her and place his hands on her shoulders until he started to rub the knots out. Feeling his fingers dance over her back, getting the right spots and digging into her skin, a sensation went through her body.

She didn't know what the sensation was, she'd only felt it a few times. The first time she met him and the moment Josh asked her to marry her. It felt right to be there, it felt very, very right. It also felt very good.

"You, my friend, need to go see a chiropractor." His voice was right next to her ear, his heated breath hitting her lobe and sending a shiver down her aching spine.

"Or a masseuse." She could hear his chesty laugh vibrate her entire body, bringing a smile onto her face again.

"I need to go pick Alexis up from the airport. Her flight lands in about forty minutes, and I want to be there for when she shows up. I haven't seen her in a few weeks. I know she misses her favorite detective, so would you care you go with me?" His hands began to slowly seize their magical movements, which caused a small whimper to leave her lips. She didn't even know she was capable of making that kind of noise.

"I would love to go pick up Alexis with you. Just let me tell Josh." Picking her glass up, Kate walking into the dining area, seeing Josh talking with Esposito and Ryan, serious looks on their faces. She set the glass down, picked up her shoes that were by the door and made her way over to the group of three, seeing the look of fear on Josh's face.

Of course her boys would be warning him. She wanted to know what they were warning him about, though.

"Are you guys playing nice?" She raised an eyebrow as she put a hand on Josh's shoulder to stable herself and put her shoes on. Feeling his hand slither around her waist, she continued to look at Esposito, who gave Ryan a look, who returned the look, both nodding at the same time.

"Yes, we're playing as nice as cops can play." Shaking her head, Kate laughed a little, knowing a cop's nice wasn't very nice at all. In fact, it was a bit intimidating.

"I'm going to go pick Alexis up with Castle. I haven't seen her in a while, and she's dropping her school work to come here, so I want to thank her in person. We should be back in about two hours, okay?" Kate could see the look on his face, but she ignored it as she kissed his cheek. She noticed his eyes weren't on her or on the floor, but they were following something. Or someone.

Memorizing where his eyes were looking, she looked at Ryan and Esposito, who were giving her their 'Yeah right' look and she gave them a smile before she walked to the door where Castle was standing. When she was next to him, she stopped to turn and look out at the crowd.

When her eyes landed on the brunette who she knew was a trauma doctor, she could feel her heart sink just a bit farther down her chest. Josh made his way over to her, nodding his head before the two left the room. They weren't going towards the beach, but up to where the rooms had been reserved.

Maybe she was just jumping to conclusions. The pool was also over there, as was the bar. Maybe they were just going to get another drink. Even if there was a mini bar in the area, they could've wanted something different. Or stronger. At the same time.

"Kate, are you ready?" Coming out of her daze, she looked at Castle, who was looking down at her, worry written all over his face.

"Yeah, let's go." She walked with him out to the rental car he had gotten for the week, each sliding into the seats they weren't used to sitting in, and they drove to the airport in silence. Kate had her phone in her hand, waiting to receive a text from Lanie with hopefully some useful information.

"Are you sure you're alright? You just sort of seem… out of it." Rick's voice caused Kate to turn and look at him, her eyes landing on his blue ones. She hadn't even noticed, but they were now sitting in the airport parking lot and his body was turned towards her a little more.

"I'm just trying to figure something out, that's all. I'm sure I'm just over exaggerating, but I'm having Lanie do some investigating." Kate put on a false smile as she got out of the car and moved to the front of it, leaning against the hood.

"Does it have to do with Josh and that brunette he walked out of the room with?" Kate looked up at him, trying to read his face before she sighed and looked to the ground, nodding her head slightly.

"It's probably just the nerves, but something just didn't feel right. He wasn't acting himself. Then again, ever since we got here he hasn't been acting himself."

Rick moved so their legs were touching ever so gently, his hand finding its way into hers. Her head found its way to his shoulder, her eyes staying on the ground as the warmth from his hand and the heat outside radiated throughout her body.

"You're going to get through this, Kate. Everything is going to work out just fine." Rick's voice continued to sooth her as she stood there, the most content she had felt the entire week. She felt his lips touch the top of her head, her eyes closing at the feeling.

When they opened again, Kate saw the fiery red hair coming out of the sliding doors, making her way towards the two standing in front of the car. Both Castle and Beckett moved from how they were standing, not moving away in distance as they made their way towards the mini Castle, a smile on all of their faces.

"Kate! I didn't think I would see you until we got back to the hotel." Alexis' voice was ecstatic as she wrapped her arms around the detective, receiving the same from the woman.

"I thought I would come here and thank you personally for coming out. It means a lot to me." Kate pulled back and let the father and daughter have their moment.

Once greetings were done and words were exchanged, the three made their way back to the car. They walked with each other, looking more and more like a family with each step they took. Kate couldn't help the smile that formed on her face once she got to the car, completely forgetting about the world she was about to dive right back into.

She forgot about the phone, or her fiancé, or the trauma doctor. All she thought about was, now that everyone was there, things were hopefully turn out for the better, if not sooner than later.
