Chapter 14: The Understanding part 4
Mark and the Prophet appeared in a great circular room, with tapestry's being half green and half purple hanging from the walls showing the symbol of Morpherus "The All Animal". The walls were white with stone as well as the floor. The ceiling was a glass see through dome with a large jade gem shaped like a diamond dangling from the center. Two large finely white stone doors with golden handles, had a red carpet going from its base and across the room and up a few steps to a white stone throne with a purple gem the shape of a oval on its crest. The throne was a work of art and sitting upon it was a great purple being that looked like The All Animal that was told in their stories. This being wore an amulet that had a gem that was half green and half purple. The gem had the symbol of Morpherus, neatly engraved in it and it was that the gem was the symbol of the king and whoever wore it was the king, but it would have to shine bright all the time, like it was doing now, to tell the people that the king was still an honorable man and worthy of it.
Standing at the bottom of the kings steps were two green Higher Humans in their Higher forms. These two were both ten feet tall and very intimidating to anyone who drew near. One of them looked like a raptor humanoid with a small black horn jutting out of the tip of his snout. The other one looked the same, but had two black horns that came out the sides of his head like an ox. They were in full armored that was the color of silver and wore red cloaks around them to hide their armor, they also wore silver helmets that resembled a Roman and even the helmets brushes were red.
The one on the right had a long steel spear in his left hand and a golden shield with "The All Animal" on it in his right. The one on the left was the same, though the spear was in his right hand and the shield in his left.
The doors opened and the younger version of Mark came rushing in with a frantic look on his face. Mark watched as he got closer to the throne and the guards crossing their spears together causing a metallic sound and younger Marks progress to the throne. Mark watched from the right side of the room near the wall with the Prophet as he tried to think about what that demon said. Though that was cut short as his younger self caught his breath and faced the king.
"Father," The boy said catching his breath, "There was a demon today at the Meadow." He said with wide eyes and fear.
The father/king raised his right eyebrow and scratched his chin in worry. "Which meadow Mark or do you mean the Meadow." He said calmly to his son.
Mark nodded his head and said "The Meadow." While he tried to approach closer to his father, this time though the guards let him through and let him walk up the steps. The steps though were big since he was in his human form, so he kind of had to hike himself up a little.
His father smiled warmly down at him as he approached his feet. "You know you could have changed into a bird or something?" his father said chuckling a bit.
Mark looked up at him and gave him a half smile. "Oh how would that be fun, I need the exercise anyway." He laughed as did his father.
Once they were done though his father got serious again and looked down at him with his most serious face he could muster. "A demon…" he said puzzled, "That can't be right, no demon has ever gotten pass our borders in our solar system. Are you sure?" his father asked.
Mark snickered a little bit and looked up at his dad smiling a bit. "You know you can't really pull off being serious, do you? And yes there was a demon." He laughed a bit under his breath.
The king narrowed his eyes and muttered something under his breath that began with "Smart" and ended with something that Mark couldn't hear, but he pretty much figured what it was. The king looked back at his son and sighed while putting his right elbow on the arm of his chair and placed his chin on his raised fist. "So what's the demon's name, either this someone that is extremely powerful or it's a numskull who was too stupid to enter our borders." His dad said in a bored voice.
Mark scratched his chin and then his head before a light bulb instantly showed up above his head. "Oh ya, she said her name was Mournna." He said.
His dad bolted up right, eyes wide and the guards instantly took battle stances with their spears at the ready and their shields ready to protect. His dad had a hard time using his words before he could finally say what needed to be said. "Mournna, are you sure?" his father asked.
Mark raised his left eyebrow and shrugged. "Ah…ya, what's wrong dad?" he asked.
His father quickly came off of his throne and examined his son by opening up his mouth, under his eyelids, checking in between his ears and finally he put his hands on his son shoulders or sides since they were so big. "Are you hurt? Did she hurt you?" his father seemed to grow in rage thinking if she hurt him that she will pay the price for doing so. "Tell me son, did she hurt you?"
Mark shook his head. "No pop's, she didn't hurt me, more like I hurt her." he sounded guilty. His father cocked an eyebrow and looked down at his son. Mark tried to hold in the tears, but one escaped his right eye when he began again. "I was with Marie and then there were Rebel's who started to attack these people. I tried to stop them, but got hurt in the process. Then the people came out and got in an argument with the Rebels then these tentacles came out of the ground and killed these people while I went to go protect Marie, then the Rebels started to attack this creature and they were losing, so I tried to help then…" Mark began to cry and his father tried to calm him of his fright and hushed him.
After wiping away the tears his father looked down at him gently. "Go on Mark, you are all right now, your safe."
Mark nodded and continued his story. "I changed into my Higher form dad… for the first time. I felt so powerful that I smashed that demon and smashed her again and again and again… again… again, I just couldn't stop myself." Mark sniffed a little and his father urged him on. "Then Marie came over and stopped me and when I finally realized what I have done. I cried, because I thought I killed her dad. I thought I killed her!" Mark yelled in pain from the memory. "Then," he sniffed, "The Rebels, the ones who oppose you because they think you a bad king, came to me and said that me and Marie will raise The All Animal, then they just left." Mark finished while looking at his dad. His dad had soft features on his face and he cupped his sons chin.
Though this was ended when a purple man in a purple robe came in and heard everything about what had happened and felt sick by listening to it. "My king," said the man causing the king to look up at the man and Mark to turn around and see him, "I was just listening to this and may I point out that Mark helped our enemy." He said looking at the king with disgust.
The king cocked up an eyebrow and stood up to look down at the man. "What do you mean Ta'zen? Mark was attacking the demon not helping it." The king said but he started to show a little bit of sluggishness when he talked around his advisor like he always did. Some thought he was afraid of his advisor, because his advisor was smarter and could point out flaws when the king would suggest something.
"I'm not talking about the demon." Ta'zen said drumming his fingers together in front of his chest. "I'm talking about the Rebel's. If he could have defeated the demon so easily, why did he help them defeat it when he could have let the demon finish them and then he could have defeated it or how about he let the Rebel's get away! That is treason!" Ta'zen yelled approaching the throne.
The guards though pointed their spears at Ta'zen to come no closer for they didn't really like him or having him near the king and his son, but the king put up his hand and the guards exchanged nervous looks. They reluctantly drew back their spears and aloud the advisor to get in between them and look at their king.
The Kings eyes grew dark and looked down at his son with anger. "Why did you let them get away?" he asked by picking up his son by the back of his shirt and brought him to his face. "Why did you let them live! They oppose my rule and wish to have me dead!" he yelled at him.
Mark watched as his father threw his younger self across the room and remembered that this was also the day that he hated his father. "He betrayed me because his stupid advisor said a few words." Mark said those words with a death threat. They watched his father grab his son and take him out of the room followed by his advisor and the guards who had stunned looks on their faces.
The guard on the right spoke to the one on the left something that Mark couldn't hear back then, but could hear now. "Did he really just throw the son across the room because his advisor said something?" he asked his partner.
His partner frowned and looked ahead of them. "He didn't even give his son a chance to speak." He shook his head.
"Are we even on the right side?" The one on the right said, "Maybe after the highness takes his pointless and stupid rage act on his son, I think we need to take the prince and Marie and flee from this place." The left one nodded and they headed out.
Mark walked to the door and watch the two turn the corner down the hall. "Those two saved me and Marie after tonight and that was when I met you as the leader of the Rebel's." Mark said trying to hold back a sob.
The Prophet walked up beside and patted him on the shoulder. "And a few years later your wife gave birth to your son and you became leader of the Rebel's. I think though that there is much more going on than meets the eye. Your father was bipolar when he was around his advisor and I don't think he knew what to do. He was still a young king and that advisor was new." The Prophet said scratching his beard.
Mark stopped his sobbing and looked at the Prophet with all seriousness. "Then what are we going to do. What have we accomplished here then seeing bad memories?" Mark said glaring down the hall.
The Prophet scratched his chin and banged his staff on the ground. "I think we need to see Mournna and see what this is all about her son. We have gain knowledge from the past young one, now we shall focus on our future and see that witch to find out what's going on here." With that being said they were consumed in white light and left Mark's memories.
