AN: HELLO. Hi. So, I don't have much to say. Oh, I won an award; greatest kid award. I'm the 'greatest kid in my school.' Or county. I'm not sure. Anywhooooooo heres the chap. Kind of a time lapse. Not sure where I'm headed with this chap, so lets get to it. P.S. I know some of the 'medical orientated stuff' is wrong, but just go with it. I needed it for drama.
Chapter 14: No
Time lapse: 1 week
Jace was in the middle of lunch, after his father forced him to leave the hospital and go to school, when his phone buzzed.
"Shit, I gotta go." He told his group of friends.
"What's up, man?" Sebastian asked.
"Clary. I don't know much, but her mom just texted me, saying to get there ASAP. I'll text you guys later." Jace said, before turning on his heel, and running out of the school.
He was driving absentmindedly, he had already memorized the route from school to the hospital due to how often he drove it. He knew it like the back of his hand. He couldn't even think about anything else, just Clary. What was wrong? What was so urgent? These were the questions that kept plaguing his mind as he arrived, not able to stop the shaking of his hands.
He didn't bother signing in, just headed straight for the hallway leading to Clary's room. The nurse already knew who he was, so she didn't require him too.
Jace wearily knocked on the door, and was told to come in immediately.
He was met with the sight of a frustrated Jocelyn, sitting in the chair by Clary's bed, with Clary facing toward the windowed wall, her back to them, obviously irritated.
"I don't care who you are, go away." Clary said angrily.
"Clary it's me." Jace said, expecting her to soften up once she saw him, but was completely surprised with her reaction.
"I don't care. Now get out." Clary said coldly, glancing over her shoulder at him, before turning back to the window.
Jace felt a stab of ice go through him, Clary had never acted this way to him before. He'd always been the one who never got the other side of Clary.
Jocelyn motioned for him to come with her outside into the hallway, and Jace followed somewhat reluctantly.
"She's been like this all day. She won't eat anything, and if she doesn't eat anything, she could go into a coma. I called you, hoping you could convince her." Jocelyn told Jace, whilst nervously cracking her fingers.
"I- I'll see what I can do." Jace said halfheartedly.
He walked back into the room, only getting a worse response from Clary.
"Jace. I know it's you. But I don't care. So leave. Now. I'm not just going to do what you say, just because you're my boyfriend." Clary said without even looking at him.
Jace crossed in front of her bed, now standing in front of her, facing her.
"Clare-Bear, wh-" He started to say, but was soon cut off by Clary.
"Don't call me that." Clary said.
"What? Why?" Jace asked confused.
"Because I said so." Clary stated.
"Look, I don't want to fight. Bu-" He started, but was once again cut off mid sentence.
"Then leave." She said, before rolling over on her other side, turning her back to him.
"Why won't you eat anything?" Jace asked, staying behind her.
"What's it to you?" Clary said smartly.
"What's it to me? I'll tell you what it's to me. You're my girlfriend. Did you forget that somewhere along the line? And that makes me your boyfriend. Therefore, I am one to take care of you, always be there for you. And I'm not going to go away, just because my girlfriend now has a disease. If anything, I will stand by said girlfriend even more, take better care of her." Jace told her.
He was met with utter silence.
"Clary what's wrong?"
"Scared." She whispered so softly, that he wouldn't have heard her had he been farther away. "Scared." She repeated, though this time it was louder. "I'm scared, that I'm going to die. And I would like to cause the least amount of damage when I do."
"So that's why you're acting all pissy?" Jace asked, but quickly added after getting a glare thrown at him, "I mean, that's why you're pushing people away!" After another glare, he mumbled, "Geez, I am not making this better."
"No, you aren't."
"Clary, please just eat something."
"No."
"Clary pl-"
"NO!" Clary yelled, before curling in on herself.
Jace climbed in the bed behind her, wrapping his arms around her, and tucking her head under his chin. She rolled to face, before a strangled sob clawed out of her throat.
"Shhh... Baby I promise, you'll be fine. But only if you eat. If you don't you could go into a coma." At hearing this, Clary froze.
"A... coma?"
"Yes. So please just eat something." Jace pleaded, and when she gave him a subtle nod, he could feel weights lifted off of his shoulders.
He fed her the breakfast that was brought for her, and then held her until she fell asleep. He too fell asleep, but not before he heard her whisper, "Thank you."
When Clary awoke, she found herself wrapped in Jace's arms just as when she fell asleep, and he was looking down at her, his gold eyes alight with happiness.
"Morning." He told her with a gruff sleepy voice.
"Morning." She told him as she leaned up to kiss him. The minute their lips touched, they were interrupted.
"Hey! No PDA! I'd like to keep my lunch in my stomach." Simon told them.
"Oh, come on. They're cute." Sebastian said, and then once he realized what he said, he cleared his throat and said in a deeper voice, "I mean, come on, it's not like you to don't do it. It." And then winked at Izzy and Simon, before turning back once Clary said,
"When did you guys get here?"
"About 15 minutes ago." Maia said.
"Ah. So, what's up?" Clary asked, making conversation.
"Not much, lil girl." Jordan said.
"How're you doing?" Sebastian asked her.
"Ehh. I mean, I'm not necessarily good, per say, but I'm getting there." Clary said.
"You'll be outta here before you know it!" Simon told her.
"Yeah, and then we can go shopping!" Izzy said excitedly.
"Uh, yeah. Right..." Clary said with fake joy.
"Hey how bout we watch 'Divergent.' Though it's probably not as nearly as good as the book." Izzy suggested.
"Agreed." They all said in unison.
"That movie was amazing!" Maia said happily.
"Yeah, but not as amazing as Theo James." Izzy said dreamily.
"Definitely. God, I would let that boy do m-" Clary started to say, but changed her sentence due to the look she got from Jace. "Do m... y homework... 'Cause he's smart... And I hate homework..."
"Yeah. Sure. That's what you were gonna say. Uh huh. Right." Jace said dramatically.
"Oh, calm down. I wouldn't ever leave you for him." Clary said playfully.
"Oh, why would you! I'm not saying you would! You can't leave this. It's a physical impossibility." Jace said arrogantly.
"Oh, shut up, would you?" Clary said sarcastically.
"Oh, I'll shut up..." Jace said, before taking Clary by surprise and kissing her full on the mouth, not stopping until there were pillows being thrown at them.
"Okay, we gotta go." Maia and Jordan said.
"Us too." Simon and Izzy told them.
"Bye, see ya guys later." Clary called to them.
"Hi, Jace." Clary said sweetly, looking up at him.
"What do you want?" He asked, already getting his shoes and coat on, heading for the door.
"Pizza. Get my favorite. Mu-" She started.
"I know what your favorite is."
"Thank you. Love you."
"Love you too." He told her, kissing her quickly, and heading out the door, before popping his head back into to say, "Make sure she behaves." He told Sebastian.
"Aye aye, Cap'n." Sebastian said, topping it off with a salute.
"Hi, Sebastian." Clary said sweetly, looking up at him.
"What do you want?" He asked, already getting up.
When Jace came back with the pizza, he saw Sebastian, laying on the bed with Clary, rubbing her back.
"Am I interrupting?" Jace asked smartly.
"No, it's just that the chemo makes my back hurt, so Sebastian gave me a massage." Clary said before motioning Jace to bring the pizza to her.
Jace got up, handing her the box, and started talking to Sebastian.
"So, anyone good ole, Sebby's interested in?" Jace said.
"No. I'm a wingman. Not a love dove." Sebastian said seriously.
"The fuck?" Jace asked.
"No. I'm not int-" Sebastian started but was cut off as a mushroom hit him in the face.
"What the hell, Clary?" Sebastian said, as Jace burst into laughter.
"This pizza tastes horrible. What did you do to it Jace?" Clary said angrily.
Oh no. She's angry. This is not good. Jace thought.
"Nothing, sweetie..." Jace told her.
"Don't you 'nothing sweetie' me. This doesn't taste like my favorite pizza."
"Well it is! Same pizza! Same place! I swear!" Jace said quickly.
"Ugh! Stupid chemo." Clary muttered angrily.
"Are you gonna eat that?" Sebastian asked jokingly.
