I just realized I'm going to have to write something really awkward soon.

Wish me luck. It's all for you.

Haru breathed in, looking at the sky above him. To him, it had always looked like an endless ocean that he'd never be able to swim in. In a way, it made him extremely jealous of birds and such, but then he realized that even if it looked like an ocean, it wasn't. There wasn't any water. After that, he no longer had any interest in swimming in the sky.

He'd often dreamed of being a fish when he was a child. He thought it would be so wonderful to be able to swim forever. Better than that, he would never be able to set a foot on land. That meant he wouldn't have to deal with things such as school or over protective friends.

Yet, that was the one thing he'd miss if he was a fish. His friends. He'd never said it, but it was clear he cared a lot for them. They were like his family. Especially Makoto. He was Haru's best friend (and sometimes mother) and had not once let him down since they met.

He'd also miss Rin. He'd become a big part of Haru's life in a short amount of time. Sure, at first, it was extremely crazy. Haru was still trying to get over the fact that his boyfriend was a dog. Though, his heart was very much human.

It'd been obvious that Rin had liked him since the day they met. He spent as much time at Haru's as he could and got flustered every time they touched. It got even worse when Haru had discovered Rin's secret. They could connect in all new ways after that.

Haru new it scared Rin. One mistake and Rin feared that Haru would turn away and never open up again. He never wanted to hurt Haru. He'd die himself before he'd let any harm come to the water loving boy. It would be especially horrible if Rin himself had been the one to hurt Haru.

It also scared Haru. He'd never had a close relationship to anyone, really. He'd never dated and never had an interest to do so. The only contact he had with females at all was at school. He zoned through that part of the day anyway. So, suddenly doing all new sorts of things was out of his element. He had no idea what he was doing.

In a way, he and Rin were equal. Both scared. Both having no idea what they should do. What they could do. They at the same time wanted to test the boundaries, yet didn't want to push too far.

That's why it was perfect.

Seriously, Haru completely believed that he could never be with anyone else other than Rin. He'd been able to grab his attention when hundreds else failed. That had to make him special. Of course, he was. But Haru didn't even care about that. He loved the way Rin looked at him and would blush when Haru kissed him. That's what made him special. Being himself.

Same went for Rin. Though he'd been with both women and men alike, he'd never actually loved them. It was a new experience with him. That's why he was careful. He didn't want to do anything to mess up with Haru. He didn't think he would find anyone else able to captivate him like Haru could.

That's why they could take it slow. Each wanted to be with the other for a long time, so why rush?

"Haru, it's getting dark!" Rin yelled from the beach. Although he wasn't afraid of the water anymore, he had been hesitate about swimming in the ocean. Luckily, Haru had mercy today.

It took a minute for Haru to realize Rin had spoken. When he did, he straightened himself and looked back to the beach when Rin stood in the center of a giant sand castle. Rin waved to him, and then pointed to the sky to further show that it was getting late and they should go home.

"Give me a minute!" Haru called back. He ducked underneath the water and opened his eyes. It had never really bothered him, so once he'd gotten used to it, he could see perfectly.

Sadly, he'd stayed close to the shallows that day. Rin had been nervous about it, so he did as his boyfriend asked and stayed close. It was a pity, really. Out a little deeper was a beautiful reef full with all sorts of colors and fish. He'd have to show Rin sometime. Of course, that would be after he was confident enough to swim in the ocean.

After looking around for a few minutes, Haru came back up. He swung his bangs out of his eyes and blinked to readjust. He saw that Rin had gathered all of their things while he'd been underwater. Since it was just their clothes and towels (Haru hadn't thought they would need them, but Rin had brought them anyway), it wasn't that much to carry.

Haru swam to shore and climbed onto it. Rin held out his hand to help Haru balance against the waves, so Haru took it. When he was up on the sand, he didn't let go as they began to walk towards home.

Rin glanced to Haru with a smile. "Today was perfect, huh?"

"It normally is."
