AGH sorry for the late delay friends! I've been working a 40 hour week along with being a full time student and it was kicking my butt! I'm trying to update all my stories today and write the chapter following today as well so I can post it later this week without leaving you guys hanging!
Eric protectively took a step in front of Calleigh. Calleigh swallowed hard. Part of her was sure that they would find a way out of this situation just fine and part of her panicked at the thought of what Juan might try to do. She wasn't even sure which one of the he hated more at this point.. probably still her. Juan rolled his eyes at Eric's pathetic gesture.
"Juan there's cops coming what do-" One of the stooges asked frantically in the background. "Enough!" Juan screamed. A vein was visible protruding from his forehead and his neck. Eric noticed the sweat that was now soaking through Juan's shirt and covering his face. He was nervous. This was never good.
Juan walked towards the two of them quickly. The sirens were only getting louder by the second. It was reassuring but still not close enough for them to let their guard down. Juan raised his gun and put it to Eric's forehead as he was the immediate threat in comparison to Calleigh. Calleigh held her breath as she watched the scene in front of her play out. "What the hell am I supposed to do now huh?" Juan yelled. "HUH?" he yelled again looking to Calleigh. Calleigh looked down to avoid his gaze. She thought she saw something and averted her eyes back to Eric's leg. She saw an unusual outline of something near his ankle. It had to be his personal gun. She thought for a moment and in the next moment it was like a million and one things happened.
Calleigh ducked down and grabbed Eric's gun but before she could even stand and aim in Juan instinctively swung his armed hand across her face sending her falling to the ground. Hard. At the same time There were echoes of gunfire and yelling and Eric wasn't sure where any of it was coming from until one was heard absurdly close as the first blew by his ear causing a ringing that left him dazed. Eric couldn't help but attempt to throw himself at Juan which made no sense seeing as Juan was armed and Eric had no idea who was where in this damn house but all he knew was that his partner was injured, badly, and that he at least had to exhaust all his options before he let anything worse happen. Juan raised his arm back up to Eric about to shoot when the last and final gunfire was heard. Eric fell to the ground with Juan.
The room was filled with smoke and an eerie ringing noise was all that Eric could hear. He pushed his body off the ground and immediately made his way over to Calleigh who was batting her eyes with a scrunched face as she looked to be waking up. Eric could hear muffled voices in the background. He was about to reach out for Calleigh when he felt a strong hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see Ryan. Eric sighed in relief and took the hand that Ryan was offering him. Horatio was crouched on the ground with Calleigh pushing hair out of her face. Calleigh was nodding along to whatever he was saying, smiling along the way. Eric blinked his eyes a few times and tried to hear. Ryan put two hands on his shoulders and Eric hugged him.
Eric knew that some way, somehow the team would find them and get them out of there safely but Eric was still fearful the entire time. Being able to hug his team mate was one of the greatest feelings. He looked over Ryan's shoulder to see Natalia ordering officers around who were cuffing and removing two of the men. He didn't see the third. With all the gunfire that occurred he was probably shot and killed. Eric finally looked down to see someone placing a white tarp over Juan's body. Eric watched as Horatio helped Calleigh walk out of the room with a reassuring hand around her waist to help with her limp. She turned and looked over her shoulder quick enough to catch his eyes and mouthed 'thank you' with a weak smile. Eric smiled back at her.
"You ready?" Ryan said with an upbeat voice. Eric managed a nod and the two of them walked out of the house to join the rest of their team by ambulances, police cars, and of course, the Hummers.
OKAY FRIENDS! So this is not the last chapter nobody panic just yet! The next chapter however will be the end for this story but never fear! I'll be starting a new one AND my other story is still going and is picking up for those of you who want to pop over there and check it out! Thank you guys for being faithful and sticking with me through all of this nonsense!
