Kuran Kaname burned.

His once well thought and planned world of grey was at its last crumble. Red seeped through the cracks and tainted every thought, every action, every crevice and inch that of he was made of. The sun's glare on his back was nothing compared to the quiet fire crackling inside. The cheery chirps of morning birds did nothing to disturb his trance. His pace was set, his destination unknown, but he had to leave. He had to get away.

Away from her.

Away from the youkai.

Away from everyone.

He was not prepared, at least, not like he thought he was.

A good vampire was cautious. A brilliant vampire was prepared for the worse. And Kaname stood nowhere in between, rather he was spiraling down his own loop. Even through all the doubts that churned in his mind just the day before, he continued with his denial, not wanting to believe that the girl he had rejected centuries ago because of a premonition, was the same women affecting him today. And it was some simple infatuation. He didn't 'like' her, heck he couldn't even tolerate her still. But she chilled him to the bones with her beauty. Carved her name inside him with her words. Struck up a song of sweet nothing with her personality. Everything about her was captivating.

Even so, with everything now on the open and her so-called mate's warning ringing in his ears like an alarm, he was conflicted.

A large part of him was accepting. Its not like he could hide anything any more. Sure everything was a mess, his plans thwarted, Yuuki left off far in the distance and Rido still somewhere out there, Kaname comforted himself into working around the issue. Maybe, with a new plan in making, he could first gain Kagome and have her purify the bastard away. But that was for a latter date, right at that moment, he had an agenda revolving solely around Kagome.

The other part, however small, say 0.01 percent of him, was not accepting at all. Though small, it held strong. It had to be a lie. Time travelling, what a joke! The witch herself must have been off her rockers. Analyzing the situation, it could be a misunderstanding. Fresh out of his confession, adrenaline and frustration streaming strong within both their veins, there was a possibility that he had misinterpreted her reaction. She was shocked, yes, but what were the chances that that shock derived fro being asked such a question. Who was to say it was not? But the look in her large eyes was questionable.

So really, the bottom line was, he still, very painfully, didn't know anything about Kagome. He knew. But didn't. And that itself was pissing him off more than any time travelling mystery.

So, reaching the night class dorms, he slipped through the building silently, already aware of the other sleeping vampires. With steps unheard, he glided up the stairs and squeezed through the threshold of his room without a second to spare.

"I want to know everything." Kaname spoke softly, eyes gleaming over; his new plan decided and ready to be set out. "Time. Youkais. Kagome. What is the connection between them? How will I get her to listen to me now? It'll be much harder with the youkai lord shadowing her, no doubt. But once I have her…"

A sly smirk slid easily onto his lips. He may have been knocked off his path just a while ago, but he was up and ready to conquer once again. This time, for different reasons, and he'd be damned to let this one fall to failure.

On the other side of the academy Kagome was burning also, but not exactly in the same flames with Kaname. She was preparing for murder.

"I don't understand this bastard. He fucking dares! I swear to kami Sesshomaru, I- I mean what the heck was tha- I just can't, I can't. No. No, no, no!"

"You are clearly upset."

"Was that necessary? My minds wrecking havoc and you're going to state the obvious?"

"Have you known this Sesshomaru to do otherwise?"

"…Please don't add fuel to the fire. This is already messing me up. Exactly what compelled Shippou to do something like this?"

Sesshomaru's sensitive ears was painfully aware of Kagome's growing distress along with her growing volume of rants, so he decided to keep quiet about Shippou's root of this particular misfit. Instead, he directed her to a more sane and understandable rant, something he could follow on without her breaking sentences. Not that he knew the basic idea, but even so, a diversion was a diversion.

"Perhaps it would be best if you were to elaborate your incoherent sentences."

Kagome huffed, suddenly seeming exhausted. "I'm sure you know." She sighed out, falling down to sit next to Sesshomaru on the spacious couch. "It's just so stupid, pathetic even. I did not expect this- okay, after the stunt he pulled last time, maybe, but not to this extent."

Sesshomaru raised a brow, his hackles shaking. "Last time?" Kagome flinched at his tone. She proceeded with caution.

"Uh, yeah, he got physical, but!" she nearly screamed, "I stopped him, so, yeah…"

"Hn." He was clearly not amused. "Please, do continue."

Kagome paused. While she was all go and for murdering Kaname a few seconds ago, she had a change of heart and reconsidered her thoughts. Eliminating Kaname was a plus. On the cons, however, he was a pureblood, one that was widely and preciously known in the vampire sector. Secondly, he was Kaien's partner. Thirdly, She despised spilling blood when there were clearly alternatives available. Like, for example in this case, she could simply go back to ignoring said vampire and she had Sesshomaru's intimidating aura to help also. Or, she could simply take Zero out for a prolonged 'vacation' and escape this drama hellhole.

But really, sitting next to Kagome, out of her wits and immensely furious, considering Kaname's life was only her digging her grave deeper.

"Apart from his disturbing confession, it seems the past has come to haunt me. He asked if I've crossed time."

Sesshomaru's jaw locked. "Why does this concern him?"

Resting her head on his tensed shoulder, Kagome reached out to him with her aura. "I don't know. He said he wants to know everything. Where his interest sparked from, I don't know. He hasn't shown an ounce of interest over the centuries- well, not like I was around for that many years prior my first visit to the past, but as far as I know, I did not hear of Kuran Kaname since Kaien called me up for help. What's even more troubling is how does he know?"

"You trust Cross?"

Kagome gasped. "Yes! I- he wouldn't. I trust him; he would never, not even a slip of a tongue. He's a bit on the crazy side, but very tight lipped."

Not hearing a reply from Sesshomaru, Kagome worried. She didn't want Kaien to be caught between their problems, but Sesshomaru got rid of anything and everything that proposed harm. And whilst she did have her power and bond with Sesshomaru, she still couldn't outdo him. It just wasn't possible.

"This Sesshomaru places his trust in your words, he will not confront Cross. However, this Sesshomaru will express his views on the matter." Straightening, Kagome was all ears.

"This matter is not acceptable. Nor will it be tolerated. The jewel, which you are, cannot be known. It has been hidden and unspoken off, those who have opposed or even dared to speak a word of it have been buried in ashes, so this Sesshomaru will say this once and only once," He looked Kagome in the eye, his face stern and stoic as always, but his eyes crackled with truth. "Kuran has acquired the information from somewhere and that will be dealt with personally. Knowing even the slightest of your time travel will eventually lead to the jewel. His profess of love for you will not deter this Sesshomaru, even if you are fooled into his charms. Chances are, ot could be a ploy," He spoke in deep tones, ignoring the sharp wince that flittered through Kagome's expression. "He continues meddling, he will meet bakusaiga. "

There was a moment of pause. Kagome soaked in Sesshomaru's words and she couldn't deny the burnt of truth from it. Sesshomaru was serious, and nothing she'd say or do would change his mind. Plus, Kaname's coffession

"I understand." Sighing once again, Kagome was about to get up from her seat, but Sesshomaru wasn't finished yet.

"Halt," He said, his actions, or the lack of it, betraying nothing. "Do not think that you are excused from your mishaps."

"…What did I do?"

"The shard you have charmed. If Kuran were to stumble across such a thing, he will know. If only to make matters worse, human tutors enjoy spilling famous legends to their students."

Five hundred years later and he still can't accept the word 'teachers', she thought with a roll of her eyes. But then his words registered. "What?! Say that sooner! This is bad, this is so bad!"

"Your panic does not help. You will speak of this matter with Cross, be sure he understands thoroughly."

"I…damn. Okay, I'll accept any punishment."

"Adding to that, leaving without a word."

Kagome flinched even harder. Sesshomaru softly nudged Kagome away and took out the candles he assumed was the reason behind Kagome's disappearance. She prayed for mercy.

"Magical candles, quite common, going out for them is a waste of time. You could have ordered."

"I just wanted to go out, let Zero get a breather also."

"Ah yes, the diseased." Kagome rolled her eyes.

"Your long time sister from another mother is a pureblood, keep that in mind." She took the candles out of his ends and inspected the little dents caused by falling out of her grasps when Shippou's spell took effect. "Well, at least its still usable. Thanks, I totally forgot about them."

Sesshomaru tipped his head, acknowledging her gratitude, partially glad that she had calmed down, and partially glad that his ears weren't being tortured.

He watched Kagome get up and prance around the room doing mindless necessities. Dragging his eyes away from her, he focused his gaze on the maroon silk curtains. His eyes followed the flows of ripples on the curtain till it pooled on the floor subtly. His mind ran wild with all sorts of things. He imagined eradicating anyone selling secrets of the jewel. Clawing the one responsible for igniting Kuran's interest in Kagome's travels. And especially wrapping a whip around the Kuran's nosey neck, bleeding him dry.

Yes. Those fools will be dealt personally by him.

How was it? Kind of a slow chap, but yeah, please review!
