Author's Note: This was a bit rushed and I apologize. My last papers of the semester are all due this Friday and finals start next week. But at least I still wrote the chapter! Enjoy! And I love all my new and old reviewers you guys are great!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or the characters.
It was a bright and sunny day in Konoha, an early morning in November to be more precise. Even though it was so early in the morning the number one knucklehead was still sitting at Ichirakus with his girlfriend by his side.
"Are you sure you don't want any ramen, Hina-chan?" The blonde asked between slurps of noodles.
While most would find his manners appalling she actually found them endearing so she only giggled at his antics and shook her head at his question. "It's too early for ramen Naru-kun."
"Nuh-uh." He retorted childishly while winking at her. It was days like these that Hinata cherished immensely. She loved when she got to spend entire days with Naruto by herself. It made her feel even more incredible that he could still be as carefree as when he was 12 even though he was already 22.
She knew when he went on missions he tended to act incredibly professional and serious-most of which she had experienced herself- but when it was just them he had no qualms in showing her that he was still the Naruto she had fallen so in love with all those years ago. It was truly refreshing.
"So, we have the whole day to spend with each other right?" She asked pleadingly. Just a month ago Naruto had been officially taken off the anbu roster because Tsunade had been training him to be the next Hokage. Although it wasn't announced publicly she had already declared him as her successor and all he needed to practice was the politics of it all.
Still, this unfortunately kept him even busier than when he was in anbu and in the past month she had barely seen him for more than 5 minutes at a time. It also did not help that she had publicly been declared Hyuuga clan Head and the ceremony was taking place the following week. A lot of preparations had to be made for that day and so she was also kept really busy these past months. So much so that she had to decline a few missions that would've taken more than a week.
"Yup, the whole day Nata. And don't think for a second I'm going to share you with anybody!" He threatened teasingly while she smiled softly in his direction, he seemed even more excited about this day than she was and that was saying a lot.
Finally stepping out of Ichirakus the duo decided they were still ninjas and would get in a little training before lunch, as long as they were together neither really minded what activity they took part in. Unfortunately, what did bother the blonde to no end was when they were interrupted by their so called friends.
"You and me dobe, right now." Sasuke spoke as he and his pinkette of a girlfriend-who was attached at the hip with him at all times- entered the training grounds.
For once Naruto did not want to spar with Sasuke, he simply wanted to train with Hinata. ALONE. "Ne, not today Sasuke. I'm already sparring with Hina." He tried to play it cool and answer nonchalantly though he really wanted to kick both his teammates the hell away from them.
Of course Sasuke noticed the blonde's terribly hidden irritation and decided to have a little fun. "Fine, I call whoever wins."
Blue eyes looked toward onyx menacingly while muttering profanities under his breath. "It will probably take a while, we were going to warm up first." He spit out bitterly, not even bothering to hide his aggravation towards this interruption.
Hinata looked up at her boyfriend with a small pout. "Don't be rude Naru-kun, they just want to spend time with you."
He scoffed loudly but his eyes softened when they caught sight of her adorable pout. "Yeah, Naruto. We just want to spend time with you guys. We barely get to see you as it is." Sakura whined with her own small glare.
"Tsch. Whatever, but by lunch time consider both of you dumped." He declared with a strong and determined voice.
Sasuke chuckled and shrugged. He had actually missed hanging out with the idiot now a days and would take these hours before he was officially 'dumped'.
"I want to spar with Naruto!" Sakura yelled excitedly while she made her way over to him. He looked startled at the declaration and his face scrunched up in fear.
He took a few steps towards his girlfriend with the same face and leaned in close to her ear. "Please tell me I didn't accidentally insult her and now she wants to beat me up for it."
Hinata giggled and pushed him back slightly. "Who knows? Good luck." She said in a frightening cheery voice and walked over to the Uchiha. "You ready Sasuke? I've been dying to try out a new technique." She grinned over at him making him gulp involuntarily.
He would never openly admit this but the shy Hyuuga actually sort of scared him, especially when she said things like that. In such a fake cheery voice, he could practically choke on the venom underneath it. Aside from that the girl was actually quite decent in combat abilities and they were pretty evenly matched when they sparred together but of course he wasn't allowed to use any of his killer techniques. Still, he was an Uchiha and Uchihas did not back down to 5'7 indigo haired girls, no matter how threatening they really were.
"Bring it Hinata." He answered instead while smirking.
Naruto raised a curious brow at his own sparring partner, silently asking her what that whole situation was about. She only offered him a shrug with the answer as if it was no big deal. "A few days ago Sasuke-kun came with me to visit Kurenai sensei and her kid. Sasuke made the little boy cry and Hinata was there to witness it all. I guess this is payback."
Naruto cringed and looked at Sasuke sympathetically. Hinata had such a huge soft spot for that little boy and he was certain Sasuke was going to get his ass kicked for making him cry. "Dude, you're screwed." He mentioned with a small, gleeful smile.
Sasuke looked in the direction of his best friend and looked perplexed, having over heard Sakura's story. "Is that for real?" He asked, looking towards Hinata who had her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Yes! How could you make him cry?! That's low." She hissed full heartedly and struck him in the ribs.
"Shit." Sasuke muttered loudly causing both his ex-teammates to laugh at his agony.
"Ne, Sakura I wanna spar and everything but can we just please see this through?" He begged with his hands on her shoulder shaking her to agree with him.
"I guess so." Personally she had wanted to see this herself, she could never really beat Sasuke up since she was in love with him and everything but it was refreshing to see someone else doing it. Plus, she had something she wanted to talk to Naruto about.
"So are you going to do it tonight?" She asked in a low voice as they sat on the grass, meters away from the duo sparring.
He looked to her alarmed that someone might've heard her but relaxed once he noticed it was just them. "Y-yeah. But I'm kind of nervous."
She openly smiled at him and it was rather blinding, a lot like his smile. "You're supposed to be. But it'll be perfect Naruto…I know I don't say this often but you're like a brother to me and I want you to be happy. I know for a fact that she makes you incredibly happy so it's my job to make sure you don't lose her!"
Naruto felt his heart warm at her words. All his childhood he had spent alone and trying to get her attention. Now, just sitting with her talking about the people they were truly in love with felt right, it was as if they really were meant to be a family. "Thanks Sakura-chan, I promise I'll try not to screw it up!"
She sighed loudly and nudged his side so he could look at her instead of his girlfriend-who was apparently kicking ass-. "Look, she loves you. She always has so just be you. Don't try and force everything to be perfect because for her it will be, not matter what. Okay?"
He nodded softly in understanding, feeling a billion times better than he had previously felt. This past week had been a train wreck for him. He had no idea where or how he was going to do it but he knew he had to, because it was Hinata.

"Hey, I'm looking for Takeo." TenTen yelled at the guards who refused to let her in the Hyuuga compound.
She saw their eyebrows twitch in annoyance but she really didn't care. She just waited patiently for one of them to go fetch the person she was looking for. Luckily, it didn't take too long for him to step out in his chunnin uniform. She smiled fondly at the man, who had worked harder than most people so he could follow in his best friends' footsteps.
She recalled him telling her that he absolutely had to become a ninja like Neji and Hinata because he felt it was a duty he had to repay them for all those memories from their childhood.
No one really knew much about Takeo as it was, just her and Hinata. He really was too much like Neji; he barely spoke about his past and almost had an aneurysm the first time he saw Hiashi.
FLASHBACK
"Hiashi-sama." The Hokage called his attention.
He looked up at her with a normal stoic face and waited for whatever news was to come from her. She started speaking again, with a voice that held nothing but authority. "It appears a member of your clan has stumbled into our care."
He raised a brow, not knowing any of his clan members had been missing to begin with. She ushered for Shizune who was in the room to fetch this so called member and he waited patiently for them to walk through the door.
Out of all the possibilities to arise he could not have accounted for this one. The boy though taller and stronger still looked exactly the way he did when he was a child. Hiashi openly gaped at the boy who stood in front of him with a face filled with confusion.
"Takeo-san!" Hiashi called out not believing it was the boy in flesh.
Takeo looked wearily at the man who stood at an even eye level with him. He appeared to be the leader of the clan since TenTen had mentioned that they would be meeting today.
"Yes, Hiashi-sama?" He asked in an even tone.
"You're alive!" Hiashi inspected the boy with his hands, unceremoniously taking off the Konoha head band to reveal the caged bird seal. "It really is you."
Tsunade looked just as confused as TenTen felt being in that room with the Hyuuga. "So, I take it you know him Hiashi?"
The elder man turned to look at his Hokage with wide, fearful eyes. "Yes, of course."
"Would you mind explaining why he was not within the confines of the compound for such a long time?"
For the first time in awhile Hiashi found himself tongue tied. He had no way to explain what had happened so long ago, it was despicable and he couldn't bear to tell the story while Takeo stood right there.
"I would prefer to have this conversation with you alone, Hokage-sama."
She looked at him with calculating eyes but did not deny his request. "Alright, TenTen take Takeo out and give us an hour to talk."
She obediently nodded while still being confused and left the premises with and equally perplexed Takeo. "What was that about?" He asked her.
She really didn't know.
END FLASHBACK
The Hokage and Hinata's father had come to the agreement that Takeo would live with them in the Hyuuga compound as a branch member while he continued with his ninja training which Hiashi was surprisingly providing.
It still didn't clear things up for her and she didn't think Takeo knew much about that conversation either, it was like a well kept secret within Hiashi and the Hokage and no matter how hard TenTen tried to crack her, Tsunade refused to discuss such details with her.
"What're you doing here TenTen?" Takeo startled her out of her thoughts.
"Uhh…" She stuttered, not knowing how to ask him to go to lunch with her. "I'm hungry?" She questioned more than stated.
His paled Hyuuga eyes glittered in amusement as he looked her over once. "And you wish for my company during this meal?"
"Yes." She basically squeaked, silently berating herself for acting just as nervous as the first time she had asked Neji to go to a friendly lunch with her. After that thought she instantly paled because she felt incredibly guilty.
What am I doing? This is his best friend, the man I love's best friend. She tried recollecting her thoughts and telling herself that it was simply lunch and she wasn't betraying anyone.
"I'd be glad to accompany you." She heard Takeo speak beside her causing her to look up at him and a soft blush to rise on her cheeks. Damn it TenTen, STOP!
"Right, should we go then?" she asked, looking out onto the city to avoid looking at his face.
"Certainly." He answered before taking her hand in his and walking towards what he knew was her favourite restaurant.
She cursed her body for feeling tingles rise at the touch of his skin and sighed dejectedly knowing full well the feeling she held for him were becoming more of that than just friendship.

"Naruto's going to be Hokage soon." Temari spoke loudly, causing Kiba, Shino, Shikamaru, Ino and Choji to look at her. All of them nodded in acknowledgement but wondered what she was getting at.
"Oh! Hina-chan officially becomes clan head next week too!" Kiba exclaimed proudly while he pet Akamaru's head caringly.
Temari looked at Kiba with one of the biggest smiles on her face, she had forgotten about that! Ino was the one to look excited now. "Please tell me we're going to celebrate all of the above!" She squealed in excitement.
"I guess we could." Temari looked up at her with a slight frown, knowing Yamanaka Ino and parties were to be avoided in the same sentence.
"Great! So I say we ask for a few days off after Hinata's clan ceremony and plan an awesome party. Since you and Shika have your own house we can have it there!"
Shikamaru groaned but did not decline. "Troublesome…" he muttered lowly though he still got glared at by his ex teammate. "So, we're doing this the day after her ceremony at our place?" He asked lazily looking to see if Temari approved. Once he saw her nod he breathed another troublesome and lit himself a cigarette.
Kiba looked toward his shrieking girlfriend and sighed tiredly. "Ino, calm down."
She looked to her boyfriend distastefully while glaring at him. "Shut up Kiba this is great! I need to find Sakura and Sasuke-kun."
Chocolate eyes squinted in annoyance at hearing his girlfriend add the kun suffix to an ex traitor's name but he tried not to pay it much attention. Especially when she clasped her hand over his and looked at him through pupiless gorgeous eyes. "Can we go grab lunch before we look for them Kiba-kun?" She asked sweetly and dangerously close to his lips.
Wordlessly he took her hand and led them away from the others, Akamaru at their side. "We'll see you later to plan this thing." He mentioned before disappearing out of their sight.
Before any of them knew it Shino had left the group as well so Shikamaru turned to the last member aside from him and his wife. "Hey Cho, you want to have lunch with us?"
Choji turned to his best friend with a question. "Who's turn is it to cook?"
Temari smirked while pointing a finger towards her husband. Immediately Choji's face scrunched up in horror. "Umm…" He started, desperately looking for an excuse to say no to a terribly cooked meal by the Nara genius.
Shikamaru watched his ex-teammate look for an escape and growled in anger. "We'll just go out and I'll buy ok?" He said defensively causing the other two to laugh at him.
"Sorry Shikamaru but you are a terrible cook." Choji said apologetically.
"Whatever, let's just go."
Temari grasped his hand slightly pulling him to her side. Not normally one to show any public display of affection but feeling incredibly happy to have him by her side she leaned her head against his shoulder, startling him slightly.
He only smiled at her actions and turned to kiss the side of her head lightly. He really enjoyed being married with her. He remembered what he felt when he had lost his father and he also knew she was the only one able to pull him out of his depression and for that he was eternally grateful.

"Hey Forehead, I've been looking everywhere for you!" Ino yelled across the street from where Sakura was walking towards the hospital with Sasuke as her escort.
Sakura's left eyebrow visibly twitched at the nickname but she turned to Ino either way, she was walking towards her with –in Sasuke's opinion- two mutts. "What is it pig?"
Completely ignoring the jab she hurried alongside her friend and stopped the couple from walking any further. "We're planning a party for Hina-chan's achievement of becoming clan head!"
Sakura who had been annoyed previously smiled in excitement. "That actually sounds like a good idea. Is it going to be the day after?"
"Yup! And at the Nara's house."
"Alright, if you need any help planning let me know."
"Oh, I will! But we want it to be a surprise so don't tell Hina. I'm also wondering where Naruto is so we can tell him."
It was surprisingly Sasuke who answered her question. "Don't bother looking for him, he's going to be with Hinata all day and they'll practically kill you if you get too close." He muttered bitterly, rubbing his sore shoulder from that morning's beat down.
Sakura laughed boisterously at her moody boyfriend but nodded in agreement. "Yeah, He's got something important to do tonight." She mentioned nonchalantly not realizing who exactly she had dropped that big hint to.
Ino's blue eyes enlarged significantly and a huge catlike grin took hold of her features. "Is he going to propose?!"
Sasuke and Sakura paled and looked to each other for some sort of help. "No." The male said slowly, not at all convincing.
"Damn it I knew it!" Ino yelled excitedly ignoring the weird glances pedestrians were throwing her way.
In an attempt to calm his girlfriend Kiba placed an arm around her shoulder and squeezed her tightly. She stopped jumping frantically and looked up at him questioning. "Calm down Ino. It's really not any of our business."
She glared at him with a pout on her lips. "Are you kidding? This is completely our business. Another proposal means another wedding and another wedding means more flowers and ahhhhh!" She paused for a second to gain her breath and continued talking. "Maybe lavender lilies with orange tulips….that would look perfect…" She trailed off, completely on a different universe.
Kiba looked to Sakura for help but she seemed as lost in thought as Ino, he assumed making more wedding plans for Naruto and Hinata. Finally having enough of the two dazed females he growled in annoyance and awoke them from their illusions. "Look, just come over to Ino's family shop tomorrow so we can plan this damn thing."
Noticing his girlfriend wasn't even going to answer and she was probably going to be late for work at the hospital Sasuke only nodded in agreement and pushed Sakura away from the other couple. Finally, once they were far enough from them Sasuke spoke up. "I'm not helping you plan anything." He stated bluntly.
That was a little to feminine for his liking and he would rather spend the day training than figure out what type of food and drinks they would have. He simply refused to take part in it, he knew Sakura had softened him up immensely but he still had a right to be himself and he would never do such a girly thing like plan a party.
Luckily for him, his girlfriend understood perfectly. "I know Sasuke-kun, I wasn't going to force you." She smiled caringly at him as they entered her office. She had a long shift tonight and she already felt tired so she knew this would be a long day. Weirdly as she entered and sat down on her desk her boyfriend took a seat on her couch making her glance at him curiously.
"What're you doing?"
He looked at her like she had gone insane. "Sitting, obviously." He responded to her stupid question.
Ignoring the anger that came from such a vague response Saskura cleared her throat. "I meant, in my office. You normally drop me off and go train or hang out with Naruto or something."
"Not today. I want to stay." He said stoically though she could sense a hint of discomfort tin his tone.
"Fine, but don't complain about how boring it'll be."
"You may be annoying, but you're not boring." He mentioned with a teasing smirk before lying down on her couch and slowly drifting to sleep.
The pink haired medic narrowed green eyes in irritation but kept quiet. If anything, she had learnt that Sasuke delivered a lot of backhanded compliments because he wasn't comfortable just straight up telling her how he felt. Still, she couldn't help but mutter a jerk under her breath that she could tell he heard from the way a small smirk crept onto his face.

Nightfall caught Konoha by surprise but since winter was approaching it was not unusual for the sun to set a little earlier on in the day. It didn't matter though because for two people the time of the day did not hinder their activities.
They sat on top of the Hokage monument in the exact same spot they had been the first time Naruto had told Hinata he loved her. The only difference being the sun had long ago set and in its place stood a beautiful full moon with alluring bright stars surrounding it.
The wind was picking up slightly on the cold November night but the indigo haired beauty didn't feel the need for a blanket. She had every bit of warmth necessary from her blonde boyfriend who sat behind her.
She sat comfortably in between his legs with her back pressed snug against his broad chest. She could feel his warm breath on her cold neck and his strong arms wrapped around her torso. It was mind blowing to think that a man with such strength and the darkest presence on this planet sealed in him could hold her so delicately and lovingly. It made her feel incredibly special that in his arms she felt like a treasure piece that was so rare he was the only one to be able to make her feel alive.
"Hinata, can I ask you a question?" Naruto inquired softly in her ear breaking her free of her thoughts immediately.
"Mhmm?" she responded dazedly backing up more into him when she felt herself shiver from the cold. She hadn't worn her normal clothes after lunch and had opted for a knee length pure white dress. She knew it was starting to get cold in Konoha so she assumed she would enjoy this last day of semi warmth in a nice casual dress. It didn't have anything to do with the fact that she also wanted to impress Naruto on the day that they had set aside to spend with each other.
The future Hokage smiled at her response and nuzzled her neck caringly. He had been preparing for this day for months. After he had almost lost her in that big fight they had he had decided that he would never lose her again. He had-that same night she had fallen asleep in his arms- decided that he wanted to always be the one to hold her when she felt broken.
So, he had put on his big boy pants and went to Sasuke for help in the matter. The raven had looked at him like he was insane but Naruto didn't care. He knew he was in love with Hinata and he knew that he was willing to spend the rest of his life making her fall in love with him as much as he had fallen in love with her.
Luckily for him, Sakura had also agreed to help him so whenever they went on missions together or just Naruto by himself he would look for the perfect engagement ring for the girl he adored. It had taken him a couple months to find the perfect ring but when he had shown it to his best friends they were both struck speechless at how perfect the ring fit their relationship.
Finally getting back on track he pulled away slightly to ask the question he wanted to ask. "Do you love me?" Way to croak. He thought bitterly, that wasn't the question he wanted to ask her.
Immediately she turned back to him to give him a look that clearly asked if he had lost his mind recently. Nonetheless she answered in the same gentle tone she always used with him unless she was angry. "Of course I do Naruto-kun."
Once more he grinned at her response and pulled her as close as possible to him with her in her original position. He already felt nervous enough, he doubted he could say everything he wanted to say with her distracting him with her eyes and her cute button nose. He also found the way she always smelled like lavenders and vanilla irresistible. Basically everything she does and everything she is drove him up the wall and that was how he knew he was ready to be with her forever.
It didn't matter to him that it drove her crazy if he slept with his socks on in the same bed as her. It didn't matter to him that she bit her lip when she was nervous or scared; in fact he found it endearing. To him, the fact that the she put on her left shoe first every single time wasn't annoying but more intriguing. Every little habit or quirk she had he found enticing, she was precious.
"You know, I've been thinking a lot about that fight we had those months ago." He muttered softly while his lips trailed down her neck, effectively gaining her attention and distracting her at the same time.
Not really having the mental capacity to speak she merely rose an eyebrow in question at the random change of subject. She knew Naruto was unpredictable but most times he brought something this big up meant there was something bothering him or something he really needed to clear with her. Either way she just waited patiently for him to gather the words necessary and start speaking once more.
"I hated waking up knowing I wouldn't be able to hold your hand or kiss you." He admitted sadly pulling his lips away from her alluring skin. She turned her head slightly, making him breath in a watt of vanilla to look him straight in the eyes. Making sure he was truly alright, the voice he was using sounded forced to her and she could tell he was a little upset about the whole ordeal. She blushed lightly once she realized his eyes were already fixed on her and they looked stunning in the moonlight.
"I'm serious Nata. I felt so empty without you. It was worse than when I was a kid and everyone hated me y'know?"
She looked saddened by his statement, not wanting to believe she had caused such despair within a normally enthusiastic and happy man. "I'm sorry." Were the only words she could murmur trying to cease from feeling like she had made the sun disappear.
He noticed how sad she looked and immediately his arms shot up to her face to stop any tears from falling. "No, it's okay really! It actually helped me realize a few things."
Intrigued, her eyes finally rose back to meet his wondering what that brutal time could have possibly done for him. It had certainly only caused her heartache, not enlightenment. The hand that was previously on her cheek stealthily moved into her hair as the blonde caressed it tenderly.
"It made me realize that you mean the world to me and even if I had been officially named Hokage right then I still would've felt unsatisfied." He paused to gaze deeply and lovingly into her eyes which he noted once more seem glazed in moisture but he assumed it was from happiness and not sadness. He grasped her chin when she was bashfully going to turn away because he needed for her to see the sincerity in his words.
It wasn't a crush or just love. The feelings he felt for this girl surpassed anything he could've imagined in the past. He wasn't lying when he had told her she meant the world to him. In that time when they were fighting he felt lost. It felt like since the only person who had cared about him since he had been branded a demon and a loser was gone he didn't belong anywhere.
"It felt like even if I am the strongest, the fastest and the bravest…It wouldn't matter because I wasn't yours."
She couldn't help the smile that bloomed over her cheeks at his telling her that he would never think of her as 'his' or a trophy of sort but she could think of him as 'hers'. It was heart stopping the things this boy made her feel with the simplest of statements but she wasn't complaining.
"Nata, I realized I don't just love you…I'm deeply and incorrigibly IN LOVE with you."
Her breath caught at the look he was giving her. It was a look she couldn't quite name because there were too many emotions within those azure eyes and she couldn't distinguish one from the other. She tried breathing slowly while pacing her heart to a normal steady rhythm. Is this really what he feels for me?
Seeing he was losing her to her thoughts Naruto spoke up to keep her on track, he needed to hurry this along before he lost all confidence. "So, when I realized I was terribly in love with you I logically realized I couldn't live without you. It's just not possible." He continued with a cocky grin he knew she adored even if she did tell him once too many that he was too cocky sometimes.
He stood up suddenly and hauled Hinata to her feet along with him. She seemed startled at the swift movement but she wasn't scared which was good since he certainly didn't want her to be frightened for this next part of his speech.
"And If I can't live without you then there's only one logical thing left…right?"
She looked perplexed, not knowing where he was trying to get at until he kneeled down on one knee and took her left hand into his right one while his left hand fumbled for something in his pocket. Her eyes widened once she saw the little velvet box creep out and being held protectively within the grasps of his fingers. She barely wanted to breathe in fear that this would all become a dream.
"I love you Hinata, for all your strengths and for –your hardly noticeable- flaws. I know I'm not perfect but I will always try to make you happy…" He paused slightly to calm his erratic heartbeat and long enough to see her beautiful smile glistening in the moonlight.
He cleared his throat and as confidently as he could be he finally asked what he had wanted to ask her for months. "Will you marry me, Hyuuga Hinata?" He looked to her with pleading eyes but barely had enough time to register her nodding her head and sobbing out a million yes before she tackled him to the ground.
While she lay on top of him crying softly he grinned like an idiot and placed the engagement rings in the perfect place before kissing his newly acquired fiancé. It was when she glanced down at the ring that she noted how extraordinary it truly was.
It was a simple silver band with a moderately sized diamond in the center. That was not what was captivating, the most breathtaking part was the way the diamond shone with the moonlight. It looked almost lavender and in the morning to come -since neither truly wanted to get up from the same spot- she would note that with the sun's rays the diamond would shine orange.
Much like people knew them, in the day it resembled Naruto but at night it would resemble her.
