Chapter 14

(Kate's POV)

"Surprised?", Leon asked smiling.
"I must be dreaming", I muttered to him.
"You are saying this because I am smiling or because I am here", he asked making himself comfortable by my side.
"Why are you here?", I asked him, still not believing he was here.
"You called for me didn't you, you said you wanted me here", he replied as Shadow too sat by our feet.
"I have always wanted you here", I told him in a matter-of-fact tone.
"At first you wanted me here because everybody wanted but when you left your message you wanted me here", he replied and again it didn't make any sense I mean didn't the two things make same sense.
"What are you trying to suggest", I asked him suspiciously.
"You'll come to know eventually", he replied not looking at me but look straight ahead.
"So what about your work then?", I asked him changing topics.
"Ditched it for once", he told me with a shrug, turning to look at me, "Some things are more important than work."

"I really must be dreaming", I said shocked as hell, "You ditching work and saying that work is not important. I really must be dreaming."
"You often dream about me?", Leon asked smiling.
"Hell no, this is the first time", I told him shaking my head.
"Then it means that I am the only one dreaming about you", he said very seriously.
"Leon, are you flirting with me", I said more surprised than ever.
"Maybe", he replied with a boyish grin and I was little stunned to see him smile like that, it was really breath taking.
"I must really be dreaming!", I repeated in disbelief, "Pinch me", I said stretching my arm to him, "Don't pinch too hard though."
"Let's try something that won't hurt", he said sitting up again and before I could ask what, he kissed me; on cheek though and I for some reason slapped him but he only smiled and said, "I didn't need to know if I was dreaming."

"You do remember Chris is my brother, don't you?", I said a little taken aback by that gesture.
"As if I care", Leon said coolly, "He might be threat for your boyfriend but I am equally matched to his strength. It might not look that way but I definitely can take him on."
"I don't have a boyfriend anymore", I told him and strangely I didn't feel anything when I mentioned Matt, "And I don't believe you", I added a little doubtful about his claim.
"You have to date me to know then", he joked smiling and I hit his arm with my book.
"How many woman have you dated by the way", I asked suddenly remembering my earlier chat with Matt.
"Wanna guess, if you guess right I'll treat you", he replied playing with me.
"10?", I said, that's what Matt had told me.
"Wrong", he said casually looking at his watch, "We should get inside", he added standing up.
"11?", I said as he gave me his hand and pulled me up. He shook his head as his smile grew wider, "14?"
"No", he replied as we started walking back inside.

"15? 20? 30? 40?", I said a bit frustrated how many women did he dated, for some reason I wanted to bang his head against the wall.
"Now that's too much for me too", he said letting out a laugh.
"Are you telling me or not", I flared at him.
"Do you give up?", he asked and I nodded, "No treats for you then", but he didn't answer my initial question.
"So?", I said waiting for the answer.
"What?", he asked as if nothing happened.
"Aren't you suppose to tell me the answer", I said to him as we entered the cottage.
"I said if you guessed right I'll treat you but I didn't tell you I'll tell you the answer", he said smugly.
"You idiot", I said angrily grabbing hold of his neck, "I am gonna kill you", I shook him a bit and then we both started laughing at this.

(Chris's POV)

I turned my head to the sounds of lively laughter and was shocked to see Kate laughing hard, "Is that Kennedy?", I asked Jill, who was sitting next to me.
"Yeah seems like it", she said in a surprised tone and stretched her hand in front of me, "Pinch me", and I did, "Ow, it is Kennedy and I am not dreaming."
"Yeah it's unbelievable that he's here", I couldn't help but agree more.
"And seems like Kate's back to herself again", Jill said smiling.
"Yeah", I said feeling happy seeing her back to herself, "I wonder how Kennedy managed it in so little time."
"And I was wondering how does Kate makes my Leon smile like that", we both turned and saw Leon's mom smiling at the pair too.

"Hey mom", Kennedy said spotting his mother and moved to hug her.
"I am so glad you are here, Leon", his mother said patting his back.
"We are happy as well", I told him as we shook hands.
"Yeah, Claire would be really happy to see you", Jill told him smiling.
"Speaking of her where is she?", Leon asked.
"Kate!", Claire said joining her, "look at this…", she was saying not noticing Leon but when she did, she looked at him surprised for one long minute, "Oh my god, Leon you're here!", she screamed happily hugging him, "Thank you so much for coming!"
"My pleasure!", he said in his famous monotone.
Claire then turned to Kate, "Thank you very much, this is the best thing you could've done for me", she said hugging her.
"But I didn't do anything", Kate said as Claire pulled away from hug, "Leon came on his own."

Claire looked at him and he gave a nod, "Either ways I am really glad that you're here", she said happily and he just smiled.
"So anyways what were you saying", Kate asked Claire.
"Oh yeah this shade of nail polish is not matching with my dress", she said remembering sounding super worried.
"So, let's go shopping then", Kate said casually.
"Shopping again?", I couldn't help but whine, "You shopped in DC, you shopped in LA and now you are gonna shop here too?"
"Shush bro", Kate said to me, "One does not get married every day. Let's go Claire! Jill, you coming?"
"Of course", Jill said smiling.
"Mrs. Kennedy you?", Kate asked Leon's mother.
"I could buy a thing or two", she said following them.

"Kennedy don't fall in love with a woman, who loves shopping", I said taking a seat.
"Too late, Redfield", he said still looking at the women.
"What do you mean?", I asked not getting him.
"There's no such woman, who doesn't love shopping", he said with a sigh.
"True", I agreed with him, "But well now that you are here, I have a really important matter to discuss with you."
"Yeah tell me", he said.

"Take a seat", I said gesturing to the chair opposite me, "Look Kennedy, you know I am a bit busy in Claire's Wedding preparation and I can't watch over Kate and I need your help a bit in watching over her."
"Why me?", he asked monotonously.
"Well Kate won't suspect you, I mean you can stay with her and not hurt her. I trust you boy and more than anything else she trusts you", I gave him my reasons.
"I can do that", he replied but there was definitely some sort of emotion in it but as they say its hard to read his emotions.
"Leon, there's one more important thing", I said stopping him as he was about to leave.
"What?", he asked looking back.
"I don't know if you know about it or not but she had this boyfriend", I said.
"Yeah she told me about it and also that they broke up", he told me and I was surprised that Kate discussed that with him, "I don't know the details though."
"She broke up with him cause he was cheating on her and it didn't go too well although I doubt that ex-boyfriends are hardly a threat compared to ex-girlfriends but just in case", I said and then paused debating whether should I tell him or not, "I also promised that I'd find her the best guy…"
"You're not asking me to…", Leon said cutting in between.
"Look all you have to do is convince her that I found for her", I said to him.
