Some of you are probably wondering why I now have only fourteen chapters instead of now sixteen. Well, I deleted my author's notes. Didn't need them. Hope that's okay? :P

Oh, and I do not own 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' by Taylor Swift.

Enjoy!

...

Tarni had the distinct suspicion that even if she knew a bit of his past, his name, and his parentage, she knew nothing about Nico. She wanted to learn more about the creepy pale kid who seemed to be everywhere at once, but nowhere at all; Tarni had hallucinations of him always being at the edge of her vision when he really wasn't. She thought it was maybe because she liked him that way. She had questioned herself; did she really like him that way? Sure. Not really. No. Maybe. I think. Yes. The answer changed every two seconds.

After the tour of the Camp, she'd decided to spend the rest of the day having fun doing the activities. So far she'd climbed the climbing wall (do not climb if you're afraid of falling fifty feet into a boiling lava pit), gambled her chances of winning the nymphs in a foot race (failed miserably), took archery lessons (almost impaled Kip), and tried the canoe lake (about fell out). It was kind of fun, actually. Yay.

Now she sat on the edge of the beach, looking out over the green tinged water, seemingly light green in the sunset. The day had passed a little too quickly - or maybe time flew because she was having fun. She couldn't stand nights. Nightmares came when the night did.

She wondered what to do. She wanted to talk to Chiron - to ask him to help her find out who her mom was - but she didn't want to bother him. He and Nico were having this big discussion, and she wasn't allowed to interrupt.

But still... what could they possibly be talking about? Her? If so, did they know her mom? How about her brother...?

She stood up. If Nico was going to sit there and keep secrets she was going to have to figure it out for herself. One; she just had to know what was going on. Two; her mind - at the moment - decided she liked Nico a lot. Three; what else was there to do? Sit and stare? Fun.

The walk to the Big House was short. Vaguely she thought it was because she was walking fast with anticipation, but she didn't really care. As long as she got there in time to hear what the heck they were talking about. For all Tarni knew, it could've been about the weather, but at least she wouldn't have that nagging feeling anymore.

She eased the front door open a bit. No one stopped her. She opened it all the way - only to find the main room empty.

"Hello?" She whispered, expecting someone to come and get her in trouble. No one came.

Tarni tiptoed into the room. So far, so good. She listened for who might be Nico and Chiron talking.

Over there! Her mind screamed. That's Nico over there!

She shuffled closer towards the sound. It came from a room at the end of the hallway opposite from where she was standing. There.

As she made her way down the hall, the voices became clearer; " - even if she is, do you think she'd really do it?"

Nico. Tarni confirmed. Is he talking about me?

Chiron's voice was a booming cannon compared to Nico's quiet voice. She had no problem eavesdropping on him. "There is no 'if', Nico. You say she saw the rainbows? Then it is her. We just need to know who's the other -"

"That's me." Nico interrupted. "Obviously. There's no other than me.

"That we know of." Chiron reminded him.

"Yeah, yeah. But she doesn't know the prophecy. We'll have to tell her sooner or later."

"'When the tree falls'. That could be tomorrow or in a year. We don't have to tell her now."

"Percy and Annabeth will come tomorrow with the rest of the eighteen. Don't tell me that's not them. It has to be." Nico stubbornly insisted.

"But if Tarni isn't the one -"

"Tah-nee! Tah-nee!" Came a sudden squeak. Tarni recognized it immediately. Geez! Almost forgot she existed!

"Shh, Affy!" Nico hissed.

Asphodel giggled, ignoring him. "Tah-nee! Nicky! Tah-nee! Nicky!"

"Anyway," Nico continued. "It's them, all right. Tarni's the one. No doubt about it."

"I'm what?" Tarni slapped her hand over her mouth. Oh, dang. She hadn't intended to say it out loud!

Asphodel poked her head through the doorway, giving Tarni a big grin. "Hi, you!"

...

"Would you please tell me why we're here?" Tarni snapped at Nico.

They were in the Hephaestus cabin's basement, a.k.a. "Leo's game room" because that's basically what it was. It was empty of kids - courtesy of Nico's scary entrance - except for Leo, Saphira, Nico, Tarni, Hale, Kip, Donnie, Mia, and Asphodel, who was playing happily in a corner with a mirror. Apparently, "game room" didn't mean some lame rip-off arcade place with games meant for only one person each quarter swallowing machine. It meant a huge room full of free Wii, X-box, GameBoys, cable TV, surround sound stereo; everything. It included the recliner chairs, bean bags, cushiony mats, and blankets for you to sit and get comfortable while playing your favorite video game. Unfortunately for Tarni, Nico wanted to stand.

Leo was kicked back in a huge blue bean bag with a Wii remote, punching furiously at the buttons while shrieking, 'Die!' at the TV screen. Saphira was flopped on a mat next to him, eyes glued on the game. Hale and Mia seemed to be trying to figure out how the stereo worked and Kip and Donnie were humoring Asphodel with the mirror, eyeing the GameBoys as if uncertain if they could play them. All the while Tarni was in a blank, boring corner at the edge of the room with Nico glaring at her.

"Listen," He hissed. "Chiron won't let me tell you the full extent of this problem, but you have to know at least something of what's up."

"Well?"

"You know how I told you how I was a child of Hades?"

"Yes."

"Don't talk about it outside Camp. End of that subject. And you're absolutely honest about seeing those rainbows?"

"How you 'didn't expect that'?"

"Yes. Well, we were saying that you've got to be a child of Iris. Bada bing bada boom. Goddess of rainbows. Don't talk about that outside of Camp, either."

"Hey, di Angelo!" Leo yelled over his shoulder. "Put on some music, will you?"

"Put on your own music!" Was Nico's loud reply.

"Hey, Jacobi! Leo repeated, but to Hale this time. "Put on some music, will you?"

Hale cocked her head. "Can I put on Taylor Swift?" She held up a CD case displaying the blonde country singer.

"Doesn't matter!" Leo called back, eyes not leaving his game.

"Iris? That's amazing! Why can't I talk about it outside Camp?"

"It's complicated. You wouldn't get it." Nico responded, looking doubtful.

"Try me."

Hale closed the stereo top and almost immediately, Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' blasted through.

:

Remember when we broke up the first time?

Saying, 'This is it, I've had enough' 'cause like,

:

"This songs already depressing!" Leo wailed. "Turn it off!"

"Don't know how!" Mia called back, slapping at the buttons.

"Okay," Nico was speaking slightly louder due to the noise, wincing at the song choice. "You know how we mentioned a prophecy?"

"Yeah."

Mia clawed at the button on the top and suddenly Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' was skipping frantically, repeating the same word over and over. It sounded a bit like this;

:

We are never ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

:

It continued like this, showing no sign of stopping. Leo whooped and threw his arms into the air. "Lawl! We are never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!"

The room was in chaos behind Nico, with Kip dashing towards the radio, Hale shrieking and covering her ears, Mia running around in a tight circle with her arms waving like a maniac, Donnie covering Asphodel's ears, eyes wide like, dude, what the heck?, and Leo and Saphira screeching happily about 'never ever ever ever ever' getting back together.

Nico was still nonchalant, to Tarni's surprise. "That prophecy includes you, Tee."

"Yeah, I got that part. What about the part about you?"

"I'm in there, too, yeah."

:

ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

("ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!")

:

"Can't you tell me this 'prophecy'? I know it'd be disobeying Chiron, but Nico, I've got to know."

"Sorry, Tee. No can do. I've already told you enough as it is."

"Fine. What about this KK + NDA thing, then?"

"What? What's that supposed to mean?"

:

ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

("ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!")

:

"I think it means Kristina Kerr plus Nico di Angelo. Kristina mentioned you following her around like a little puppy."

Nico paled - is that even possible? - and started to stutter. "O-Oh. Th-that. Um, we-well, y'see Tarni - "

:

ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

("LAWL! Ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!")

:

" - an act." Nico finished, looking embarrassed.

"Right." She stretched the word sarcastically. "And why would you play an empousa, Nico?"

"Had to keep an eye on her somehow!"

"By going out with her."

"Well, yes!"

"And then you end up dumping her."

"Uh, no. That was her."

"And then you kill her."

"She was about to kill me!"

:

ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

("ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!")

:

"Nico," Tarni shook her head. "I'm sure Kristina is never ever ever getting back together with you."

"Count on it." He mumbled sheepishly.

"And how did she know your initials? I thought she thought your real name was Leon GaDicoin. Shouldn't she have put LG instead of NDA?"

"Come on, Tee, can we just not talk about it?" He grit his teeth. "That's a very long story."

:

ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever- ever-

("ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...!")

:

"Promise you'll tell me later."

"Tarni!"

"Please?" Tarni pleaded. "Just in case a boyfriend of mine or something is a monster and I need to know what to do if he knows my real name when he should only know my fake name?"

Nico looked offended. "L.O.L., Tarni. Fine. I'll tell you, but not now!"

And with that, he turned and left the basement, leaving Tarni with two loud Taylor Swift impersonators, A baby, and a couple of desperate teenagers wondering how to turn off a radio.

...

I do not own Taylor Swift or PJO. Hope the story hasn't lost it's touch! Bye, now!
