This story is going too slow. Literally, four days have passed over all 13 chapters. So this chapter is gonna be rushed; I'm just telling you now. I'm not good with mysterious note cliffhangers, or incorporating creepy/weird things into the high school drama they would actually have, not to mention when reading over it myself for one of the first times, it just seems so… fake to me. Like that wouldn't really happen! And I wrote the shit! So, yes, I'm gonna speed things up a bit and try to get in the key highlights I created when thinking about the plot. Besides…I think y'all kinda sorta just wanna get to the point by now…
P.S. This, this is gonna be the last chapter of this story. Sorry (true fans), it's decided. It wasn't supposed to; matter of fact I just added this in at the end of writing this. But don't… actually, you know what? Let me just shut up and y'all read it. I change my mind too damn much anyways.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks.
3rd Person POV/Narrator:
"Jazmine?" Huey calls her name again. "Just tell us what's wrong," he says seriously.
"Damn, Mariah really ain't talking… that's a first!" Riley says as he busts out laughing. Cindy slaps him upside the head.
"Shut the fuck up, nigga. Now lemme try…" Cindy tells him. Yet, she does not say a word.
"So? You gon' say something or not, hoe?" Cindy slaps him once again.
"Jazzy?" She says at last. No response.
"Nigga, we ain't gon' ask no more. So I suggest while e'rybody who's sittin' here still sittin' here, you say something," Riley tells her.
"Jazmine. Just talk to us," Huey says after glaring at Riley.
Cindy has an idea she tells everyone. "I'll start for her… with everything going on…"
"I need love," the words come flowing out of Jazmine's mouth. Riley and Cindy, both taking it the dirty way, stand up immediately.
"Woahhh, aiight then," Cindy says while snickering.
"Don't forget to strap up!" Riley tells Huey with a smirk as he and Cindy exit the house.
Transition: 6 months later…
Caesar did some great freestyles, and the Lethal Interjection Crew's album Loyals vs. Royals dropped, which was creating huge controversy and more nigga moments on the streets.
The talent show had passed, and everybody kicked ass! Huey and Jazmine sang 'Treasure' by Bruno Mars, Riley, Cindy, and their crew danced to 'Na Na' by Trey Songz, Cynthia and Octavia did their thing and performed 'Same Love' by Macklemore, which got an encore, and Caesar and Hiro did their magic tricks. Tyson and Maya also performed, and they had been talking to the Boondocks Crew a lot over these past 6 months. In addition to inviting them to their club, which they did end up joining, they invited them over to their house an awful lot. Their mother was a stay-at-home black woman, but the children were obviously mixed. Huey always wondered who their father was; it reminded him of someone he once knew, or something he once saw. They openly shared that their father was dead, and guessed that Huey and Riley's parents were dead as well. As a follow-up question, they asked if they were shot, which, of course, the answer was yes, but Huey tried his best not to think about it. I mean, if you live with your grandfather, people are gonna think your parents are dead; not to mention the vast majority of black people die from gunshot wounds… right? It couldn't be more than that… and that's what he decided it was. A figment of his imagination.
Everyone's relationships were going strong as ever. Huey & Jazmine, Riley & Cindy, Caesar & Octavia, and Hiro & Cynthia all included. They even added a new member to the group—Griffin Peterson—who's Octavia's younger brother. He's Riley and Cindy's age, and has a lot of the same interests as them; including rap music and graffiti. Griffin also brought his girlfriend, Kim Jordan, to the group; also being his, Riley and Cindy's age.
But don't fret… everyone were still virgins.
Now, it was Spring. Some creepy things happened, some people died. Some people received mysterious notes, others just cried. At least that's how Ceez put it when rhyming one day. But as hip-hop is supposed to be, Caesar's lyrics were nothing but the truth. People really were dying and receiving mysterious notes. People really were hiring extra security and making some events a matter that the government couldn't control. It was like another revolution, but the question you had to ask was: who was leading it? And: who was it against? And that, that's what no one knew, besides the leader or leaders of this so-called revolution. The others? Well, they were just creating chaos and blindly helping the leader or leaders with whatever they were really scheming.
So, when it hit the news that 5 Girls From Woodcrest Have Gone Missing, whom do you think the leaders were targeting? And more specifically, why did they take Jazmine, Cindy, Octavia, Cynthia and Kim?
\-_-/
It had been exactly a year since the girls were taken away, and Huey just couldn't stand it anymore. He fumbled around with the first letter he got soon after they were taken.
Dear Huey,
We have taken Jazmine and your whole "crew"'s girlfriends away, as you've probably noticed. But don't worry, they'll get the proper food and education while the enjoy their little stay with us… permanently.
They can only get out if they escape (which they won't be able to do in a million years), or if you show some sign of resigning. The choice is yours, Freeman.
Sincerely,
Tyson and Maya
…seeking vengeance for our father, who never finished working on you; the White Shadow.
So was this really it? I mean, Huey had already resigned from all of his numerous organizations, his spot in his club at school, his spot on the board at the Woodcrest Library, and he stopped being a domestic terrorist years ago. And that still wasn't enough for them; he might as well resign his life off… but wait, if you take it out of its joke form, was that actually the only option?
That's what he decided.
So with that, Huey stood on the chair, secured the rope around his neck, and kicked the chair off—hanging from the ceiling. And as he looked out the window and saw other teenagers running down the street as if they were in the Olympics, he frowned upon his life even more; knowing he could've been one of them if he actually tried. And as he watched the time go by, memories played in his head. Memories of him and his parents in Chicago, memories of him and Cairo right before he moved, memories of him and Riley making it in Woodcrest, memories of the time he spent with grandfather, memories of him meeting Jazmine and the crew. And as the dark soon began to take over, he slurred out the word "Amen", for it was the only thing he knew how to say in the time of death.
And all he left behind was a note, which lay next to the note he had fumbled with just minutes before.
Dear Person That Finds Me,
I am truly sorry for making you have to look at such a graphic sight, but I did this to protect the ones I love. If only I could explain this to you in-depth as I have many of my lectures, I would. So I'm sorry Riley and Granddad; I know the last thing you two need is another family member to be lost. I'm sorry me for not trusting my instincts and giving up hope, not thinking at all. And lastly I'm sorry Ceez, Hiro and Griffin… tell the girls I say 'hi', and I'll see them on the other side.
-Huey Percival Freeman
P.S. Don't make me regret it...
A/N: I'm sorry all this skipping around and death was unnecessary I know, I know. There was supposed to be build-up, but I fucked up in the story, and that was just something I could no longer accomplish. I was gonna let this happen over the course of two chapters, but I decided to do one chapter instead. Also, to y'all who are like "this isn't enough follow-up to Jazmine/all that's happened!", that's why we have sequels, honey.
Well, I'm still crying; as I was when I wrote the last "legit" paragraph—having to kill my favorite character and all—so I'm just gonna stop typing now. But...
ONE LAST THING: Don't Make Me Regret It: R_ (DMMRI: R_) will be released fairly soon. It will not be this long, or anywhere near it (being I actually wanted this story to be longer, but…). I'm making myself end with the deadlines I have made for myself; Tutoring Our Love is the next story to go.
So, I'm not gonna end with "reviews are love" or "homies over hoes" or any other corny ass mess I just make up to end the chapter. Instead, I shall say: RIP Huey Freeman.
