Kuro's legs crumpled under her. She wasn't even aware she was standing moments before. When she stood up, she didn't know.
Next thing she knew, the cat was on her lap, growling and swatting at the crows. Kuro blinked, watching the swarming birds. Their black feathers gleamed in the light, beady black eyes intelligent. Each flap of their wings made the air around the room swirl, bending the wind with their powerful feathers.
"Kuro." Kuro's head lolled to the side, blank eyes staring at Nagato's looming figure beside her. He was looking at her from the side, his ringed eyes dark. With slight joy, she realized nothing about him changed.
Well, other than the playing cards floating around him, or the powerful purple aura surrounding him.
"Nagato." He was close enough that she could lean against his leg. She did just that, letting her numb body rest. The cat stared at Nagato suspiciously, before nuzzling closer to Kuro, threatening the birds who got to close.
"Kuro, we should get you out of here." Itachi was kneeling down in front of her in the time it took her to blink. Her dry lips parted, but no words came out.
Everything she ever knew was a lie. Kei was a lie. Naruto was a lie. Nagato was a lie. Itachi was a lie. The Church Cat was a lie.
Everything was hidden in plain sight before. She could see now, she had torn the veil off. Seen the weird shifts of energy, the power emitting from her two friends, the strange changes in appearance.
Finally she found her voice. "Under one condition," She raised her head to stare behind them at the crows. The dull throb in her hand-made her twitch, "You will tell me what the fuck is going on." From her lap, the church cat purred in appreciation. Itachi straightened from his crouched position, a grin of his lips.
The two boys locked eyes, sharing a look.
"Don't hurt Kei." She spoke the words softly, her eyes narrowing at the two men. They looked down at her, a matching look of confusion in them. She shut her eyes, a wave of dizziness hitting her. Her ribs throbbed, her hand burned. Now that the numbness was wearing off, her damaged body was starting to hurt. But right now, there was other things to deal with. Her pain could be dealt with later.
Nagato put his large hand on her shoulder, the warmth of it making her tense. She looked up at him, seeing his other hand on Itachi's shoulder. "You better hold onto the cat." Nagato nodded his head to the cat on her lap. Her arms went around the cat, tightening in confusion. She tried ignoring the sharp pain in her ribs and hand, focusing on the cats steady gaze instead.
Then her world warped. She screwed her eyes shut, stomach only comforting thing was the cat in her arms, assuring her that he was still there with her. She hugged him tighter despite her throbbing hand, as if it would make things better.
It didn't.
"Its okay Kuro, you can open your eyes now." Itachi's soothing voice calmed her frayed nerves, but her churning stomach refused to stop.
"I think I'm going to be sick," she murmured. The cat in her arms began to struggle, making her tighten her grip on him. "Stop." The cat stilled, grudgingly. "Just one moment..." She took a couple deep breaths, her stomach settling down painstakingly slow. When she opened her eyes the cat was staring up at her, his deep crimson eyes narrowed at her, as if asking just how retarded she was. A small smile lifted her lips. "I'm fine..." She leant down to kiss his forehead, knowing he was really just worried.
"Kuro, welcome to our home." Nagato's monotone voice caught her attention. She raised her head; the sudden change of the scenery made her freeze.
They were in a living room. The walls were black, but there were random holes all over. It was as if someone went on a rampage, punching or kicking the walls. Some of the said holes had been fixed, but sloppily. The red furniture was expensive looking. Kuro blinked in wonder.
"How-" She was cut off by Nagato.
"We need to talk to you." His smooth monotone sent shivers down her spine, he sounded slightly worried. "While you're here, you need to stay with Itachi or I. Or else-"
"Intruder!" A man burst into the room, his purple eyes blazing. Kuro stared at him, noting his strange attributes. The male had pure white hair- wild and sticking up randomly. He was shirtless, blood streaming down the pale skin of his chest.
Kuro blinked. Nagato wrapped his arm around her waist, while Itachi stepped in front of her. In her arms, the cat started to growl.
"We won't let the others touch you," Nagato whispered, his warm breath sending shivers down her spine. Her face heated up, realizing her body's reaction to him.
"Let go of me." The slipped away from him, her lips set in a thin line. "I don't need your protection..." She turned to glare at the silver-haired man, her voice still directed at Nagato. "I can take care of myself." Then she looked up to Itachi, since he was the only one who didn't offend her yet. "Explain." She stared into his deep crimson eyes.
"Fucking bitch! Who the fuck do you think your whore ass is talking too?!" Kuro's yes widened at the mans foul words. She turned her gaze toward him, her brows furrowing in pent up anger, eyes glaring.
"Please leave. I need to speak to Itachi and Nagato. Alone." The foreign man looked like he was about to burst before Nagato waved him away.
"You heard her. Leave." Nagato didn't even bother looking at the silver-haired man as he stormed away spewing curses.
"Now... where to begin."
