Kouri's Past Revealed
Kouri's peaceful sleep turned restless as her dreams filled with threatening ice and distant voices from the past. She struggled around in her sleep. "No…Stop it! Please Stop…NO!"
Kouri sat up with a gasp. Her breathing was heavy as she looked around the cave. She looked beside her to find Al was gone. "Al? Alponse?!"
"Kouri?" She turned to the entrance of the cave. Al came in through a small hole in the ice door. She jumped up and ran over to him, diving into his open arms. She hugged him tight as he put his arms around her.
"You were gone. Where did you go?"
"I'm sorry, Kouri. I just stepped outside to check the weather. I thought I'd get back for you woke up. What happened?"
"A baby. There was a baby. Someone took the baby and ran off. Then there was this huge ice storm. It was destroying everything and everyone."
"Hey, calm down. It was just a dream."
"No. I don't think so. I don't know why, but there was something eerily familiar about it. It…It felt like I went through it before."
"Went through what?" She didn't get a change to answer as a sudden attack blew the cave up. Once the dust settled Kouri pushed the rubble off of them, using her magic to shield them both. "What was that?!"
"Up!" Kouri shouted and looked up into the sky. There was someone there. They were wearing shredded clothes and had long navy blue hair. "What?!"
"Who is that?! Are they flying?!" Al asked as they stared up at the unknown person. The person fired another ice blast at the two. Kouri shielded them then fired back. The person fired once again, only this time the bast when right through her shield and shredded their clothing. Kouri didn't have time to react at the person above began to drop the temperature and called in a storm.
"Al!"
"K-Kouri," Al stumbled in the cold and dropped to the ground. She rushed to his side. She cried as his skin began to turn blue.
"Alphonse! NO!" Kouri pulled him into a hug. "Stop it! Please stop! Don't hurt him!"
Kouri turned to look at their attacker to find the person kneeling right beside her. Her eyes widened as she locked eye contact. "Y-You…You look like me?"
The Kouri look alike raised their hand and touched her tears. Confusion was written in their eyes as they looked at the tears then looked back at Kouri. They then leaned forward and place their forehead against hers. A light so bright flashed from their touch that it flew for unknown miles.
…
"Hn," Al groaned as he opened his eyes. His vision was blurred, but soon cleared. He was staring up at a cave ceiling. And he was warm.
"Alphonse?" Al turned his head and Kouri came into his view. Tears filled her eyes and poured down her cheek. "Alphonse…Hey."
"Hey," Al smiled as he reached up and cupped her cheek. "Come here."
Kouri smiled as she leaned down into his lips. She placed a couple short kissed before one longer one. She pulled away and smiled again. "I was afraid I'd lost you."
"Never," Al said as he sat up. He looked around. They were in a cave but there was water in this cave. A hot spring. He and Kouri were on a rock in the middle of a pond. The rock was really warm as it was heated by the hot spring. "Where are we?"
"This is a place where some residents use to live. Apparently the people who lived here drilled out several caves like this across the mountains for the harsh winters up here."
"How do know that? Did you find a library or something?"
"Not really," Kouri rubbed the back of her neck then looked over to her right. Al followed her gaze until his eyes landed on their attacker.
"What the?!" Al started to move into a position to defend his girlfriend. The attacker cowered down.
"Al, it's ok," Kouri placed her hand on his arm to get his attention.
"What do you mean?! That's the…"
"Attacker. I know. He's also my brother."
"What?!" Al stared at her.
"There's something you need to see," Kouri took his hand and pulled him up to his feet. She gave an encouraging smile to her brother then lead both of the boys into a different room of the cave. Al gasped at all the crystals in the room. Everything was made of crystals in here. The walls, chairs, dressers, baby cribs.
"What is this?" Al asked.
"Watch," Kouri raised a hand to one of the crystal formations hanging from the ceiling. Her hand began to glow then so did the crystal. The room lit up in a light blue color and was filled with people. "It's visions from the past."
They watched as a mother gave birth to twins. The father held one of the babies and the mother held the other one. Things took a turned for the worst as someone attacked and stole one of the babies.
Al squeezed Kouri's hand. She smiled and gave a light squeeze back. They turned their attention back to the scene playing out for them. They watched as several people tried to cheer up the child that remained until that child finally lashed out and began to freeze everything. It visions cut out as the child exploded with a large magic blast.
"So, that, those babies were," Al looked between Kouri and her brother.
"Us. Me and my twin brother," Kouri nodded. "That would explain why I was in Ishval. Whoever stole me wanted both of us. They wanted our ability to control ice. But only succeeded in stealing me."
"Then what happened to the person who took you?"
"I can only guess that either I was just too much for them to handle and they abandoned me or I killed them," Kouri said clearly uneasy about possibly killing someone.
"I don't believe you could ever kill anyone," Al said.
"I believe it's possible. My brother reacted the way he did and killed people. It's very possible that I could have done that as well. It doesn't really matter anymore. That's in the past. There's nothing I can do about it."
"What now?"
"We're done here. It's time to leave."
"What about him?" Both turned and looked at the boy with them.
"He's going with us of course. He's my brother."
The trio left the cave. Kouri filling Al in on some of the history of her birth place that she learned while there. They found some journals and took them back with them. In one of the journals was Kouri's real name along with her brothers, Crystalsia was hers and Rime was her brother's. Returning to Xing palace there were greeted by their friends who were waiting for them. Kouri decided to stay with Al a little while longer and it gave time for her brother to become more comfortable around people.
Al was walking alone through the halls of the palace when he came up to Kouri's room. He paused at the door when he heard Kouri talking with May. "I don't know, May. He just seems so distance here lately."
"Maybe he's just bummed about you leaving. I know I would be if I was in his position. Hey, I've seen the way he looks at you. He's totally hooked!"
"Maybe."
"Hey, where Rime?"
"Out in the gardens. He's been totally fascinated with the flora. He says he can't wait to get back to my home so he can see what kind of flora and fauna we have back there."
"Kouri?" Al finally made his presence known to the girls.
"H-Hey," Kouri said feeling a bit unsure of things.
"Can we, uh, go for a walk?" Al scratched the back of his head.
"Sure," Kouri shrugged and stood up. She walked out of the room. Al hung back a bit, earning a glare from May.
"You better be asking soon. I think she's thinks you're gonna break up with her," May said.
"I am," Al blushed then followed after Kouri. Kouri was walking a few steps ahead of Al as they made their way through the palace gardens. Rime spotted them and waved.
"Hi, sister!" Kouri waved back to her newly cleaned, hair cut short twin. Even with his hair cut short they still looked strikingly similar despite being fraternal twins. May commented once how they would be identical if they were the same gender.
"He seems to be adjusting well," Al said.
"Yeah. I guess."
"Let's go this way," Al took Kouri's hand and began to lead her down a different path that leads to a man made waterfall structure Ling had put in. It's surrounded by trees and bushes so it's concealed from people who might be walking by and don't know it's there. Once there Al released her hand and took a step forward. Kouri waited, but when he didn't say anything she began to ask him what was up. That's when he turned around. "K-Kouri, there's something I need to ask you."
"Ok. What?" Al reached into his pocket and pulled his hand back out, keeping his fist closed.
"Kouri, w-will you," Al blushed and took a few deep breaths.
"Al, are you ok? You look a little flushed," Kouri began to reach for his forehead.
"Kouri, willyoumarryme?!" Kouri froze as his words seem to echo of their surroundings. Al waited patiently as she remained frozen with her hand still held out. She finally moved after a few frozen minutes and cupped his face. She leaned in and kissed him.
"Yes," Kouri finally said. "Yes!"
Both smiled brightly as Al opened his hand, revealing a ring. The band was silver with designed illustrating a snow storm while the gem was ice blue. "My gosh! It's beautiful! Where did you find it?"
"I, uh, made it," Al blushed again.
"You made…Is this why you've been distant?"
"Y-Yes," Al admitted. "I had to also work up the courage to ask you."
"Oh, Al," Kouri leaned in and kissed him again. The kiss being more heated and passionate then normal. Pressing her lips tightly to his as her mouth opened, he followed her lead. His hands gliding themselves over her thin shirt and around her waist, pulling her tighter into him. Her mind wondered into places she didn't want to venture with him yet. She gripped the back of his shirt as his one of his hands held the back of her neck and the other keeping her body tight to his by her lower back. She let out a light groan when her back collided with a tree. It also broke their kiss. The two panted as they caught their breath.
"We should get back," Al spoke softly. She nodded in response, but pulled him back to her lips. He moved his lips from her and kissed down her neck as she sighed and tilted her head to the side. She closed her eyes tight as she enjoyed the pleasure he was making her feel right now.
"I guess you finally got over the fear of my dad frying you," Kouri said with humor. Al chuckled as he lifted back up to meet her eyes. He brushed the back of his fingers over her cheek.
"We should get back. The sun's setting," Kouri nodded as he took he hand and lead her back to the palace. May, Ling and Lan Fan were waiting for them and May squealed happily for their newly engaged friends. May revealing she knew Al was going to propose and was trying to keep Kouri's spirits up while he was distracted.
Soon they found themselves saying good bye. Kouri decided after being gone for two months it was time to return home. She was missing Mustang terribly and wanted to inform him on what had happened and introduce him to her twin. Kouri and Al held onto each other as they kissed and said goodbye. Both were extremely sad since they had no idea how long Al was going to be traveling. But Kouri decided she would meet him at times so they could see each other and discuss wedding plans. Also, during their time in Xing, Rime revealed that Kouri would also be able to learn to fly and would be able to fly fast than any engine created. So she would be able to cut travel time by a lot of minutes. With all that settled Kouri and Rime left Xing.
Kouri's entire body felt like bouncing up and down as their train pulled into Central station. She raced off the train, her eyes scanning the crowd. "Kouri!"
"Daddy!" Kouri whipped around and ran to her dad's open arms. She leaped up, putting her arms around his neck and held him tightly, crying. "Daddy! I've missed you so much!"
"My baby. I've missed you two," Mustang said holding her as tight as he could.
"Welcome back, Kouri," Hawkeye said.
"It's good to have you home," Havoc added.
"I've missed you guys too," Kouri smiled at them. Rime stood back, unsure of what to do.
"Huh? Who's that?" Mustang ask once he noticed the boy. "And why does he look like you?"
"Daddy, Riza, Jean," Kouri said as Mustang put her back down. She walked over to Rime and took his hand. "This is Rime. He's…my brother. My twin brother."
The three adults stood a bit wide eyed and shocked. Havoc scratched his head. "I guess there's a lot you have to tell use."
"Yes. Let's start with that engagement ring on your finger," Hawkeye bluntly said. Kouri blushed and got fidgety.
"Engagement ring?!" Mustang and Havoc shouted.
"H-He didn't!" Havoc grabbed Kouri hand and looked at the ring. "No way! It's real!"
"Yeah. A-Al and I are engaged," Kouri cautiously said as she looked at Mustang, who was shockingly quiet. He walked over and pulled her back into a hug.
"I'm happy of you, Kouri," Mustang said, shocked Hawkeye and Havoc a bit. "But don't think that doesn't mean I won't stop threatening him or frying him if he ever hurts you. There's a lot me and that boy are going to have to discuss when he comes back."
"Right," Kouri laughed as Rime looked on in confusion.
"What's going on?" Rime asked.
"Don't worry about it, Rime. You'll never figure that man out. Believe me," Hawkeye placed a friendly hand on Rime's shoulder. "Still, welcome to the family, Rime."
Well that it's. I'm ending it here. Technically this story could go on forever, but I'm not going to do that. I just about not got this and the previous chapter done so it's better to end it now before I just stop and it becomes an incomplete story flowing around in the internet. IF I did continue we'd seen their wedding and learn they have twin boys then a little girl. And of course Mustang and Havoc continue threatening poor Al. If her magic never got cleared up for anyone it's just a gift her people get. No real explanation for it. Well, thanks for reading and reviewing my story. Glad everyone likes it. BYE BYE!
