A/N I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING! I ONLY OWN THIS PLOT! Sorry for the wait, life has been really stressful. But here is the next chapter. Hope you enjoy:
Troy looked all over for them. They were nowhere to be seen. Had they left the school? He was just about to go out when he saw a bunch of kids all gathered outside a classroom. He walked over and tapped a kid on the shoulder. "What's going on?"
"Some kid locked herself in there. The desk is against the door so no one can get in. I don't know for sure but I think she has a knife."
Troy gulped. There was so many horrible things Gabriella could do alone with a knife. He squeezed his way through till he was in front of the locked door. Kelsi was there knocking and trying to talk to Gabriella.
"What's going on?" Troy asked her.
"Gabriella is scared of being taken into a foster family so she is hiding in here with a knife to protect herself." Kelsi explained.
"Has she said anything?"
"No. But she responds to texting."
Troy took out his phone. He quickly set her a message. "I'm outside the door. Let me in."
"No." Was all she responded with.
Troy sighed. "Brie please."
"No. It's not safe."
"You're always safe with me."
"Yeah with you. But not with them..."
Troy sighed and turned around. It looked like every kid in the school was watching them. "Don't you all have something better to do?" Troy asked as nicely as he could.
"No we are on free period, or in Ms. Smith's class and she just went home sick."
Troy sighed. "Well can you please go somewhere else?"
"This is more fun than anything else we could do."
Troy sighed. He looked to Kelsi helplessly. He knew the only way he'd get to Gabriella was if this crowd of people left. Kelsi touched his arm and nodded. She turned to the people. I want everyone out of here NOW!" She screamed.
Nobody moved.
"Hey! She said leave!" A voice yelled. "You better leave now or I'll get really angry!"
Everyone scattered and Sharpay came into view. "We need to talk, Troy."
"Now is not the best time ." Troy said
"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't important. It's about Gabriella."
Troy sighed and nodded. They walked away from the door. Kelsi stayed behind. She knocked on the door. "It's me, Gabi. Everyone else left."
Her cell phone buzzed a second later. "Troy?"
"He'll be right back."
There was no response after that and Kelsi sighed. Troy came back but was white as a ghost. "Troy...what did she..."
"I need to get in there." He said cutting her off.
Kelsi nodded but knew whatever he just found out wasn't good. Troy took out his cell phone and texted her. "Brie, I'm all alone now. Just Kelsi is here but I'm all alone. Can I come in?"
It was quiet...suddenly the sound of something heavy scraping against the floor was heard. Was that the desk?
His cell phone rang again and it was Gabriella. "Come in, but Kelsi can stay and keep watch...k?"
Troy smiled softly and looked to Kelsi who was reading over his shoulder. She nodded her head. Troy opened the door and went inside. He closed and locked the door behind him.
He looked around trying to locate Gabriella.
He found her curled up in a ball in the corner in the back of the room. A kitchen knife was laying next to her. He went over as knelt down in front of her. "Brie, hey sweet girl." He cooed gently. "Listen to me, nobody is going to take you away from me."
"Bu-but yo-your...your daddy said..."
"Forget what he said. Just listen to what I say. Nobody is going to take you away from me."
"Wh-why do you…why do you care? Nobody else does!"
"Brie, I've told you before. I'm not like everyone else. I do care about you."
"That's what they all say. Then they leave me!"
"I won't leave you."
"How can I be sure?"
Troy sighed and groaned. "You know what, Gabriella, I don't JUST care about you. I, more than care about you."
"What do you mean?"
"Gabriella I love you! I'm IN love with you, all of you! I love the way you get shy and embarrassed when you have to ask for something. I love the way you blush whenever I give you a compliment. I love the way you guard and protect your heart so close and hard that you only allow certain people into your life. I love the way you scrunch up your nose when you smell something bad. I love the way you…"
He stopped when he saw tears streaming down her cheeks. He knew she finally understood and registered that he did truly care and love her like he said. "Believe me, Gabriella Montez, believe me when I tell you, nobody and nothing will EVER take you away from me. I don't care what anyone says or does."
"O-ok."
She was shaking and deathly white. Troy pulled her into his arms and rocked her and rubbed her back. Gabriella yawned and rubbed her eyes. "Sleepy, Troy."
"Let's get you home."
"No!" Gabriella whined and squirmed fearfully in his arms.
"My home, Brie my home. You'll be safe there."
Gabriella relaxed and nodded.
Troy lifted her up bridal style. She buried her face into the crook of his neck.
He snuggled her close and headed to the door. He opened the door to see the crowed had returned. He growled softly to himself. The few people in the front turned around. It was his friends.
"We've been trying to keep them back. It's not working. Are you ready to leave?" Chad asked.
"Yeah, Gabriella needs to be in a place she feels safe. This isn't one of them." Troy explained. "She'll have a panic attack if we have to cut through these people."
"We've tried everything, we can't get rid of them." Chad said. "Taylor left to get the Principal."
Troy sighed but nodded. "Ok, we will wait in here." He closed the door and went to sit on the desk.
"T, home." Gabriella whimpered.
"I know, Precious, I know. We will go home soon."
"Now!"
Troy chuckled softly. "Wow, someone is bossy today isn't she? He teased tickling her gently.
"No." she giggled a mouse like giggle and curled up tighter.
Troy smiled and kissed her forehead. Sparks flew between them both.
"I love you too, Troy." Gabriella whispered.
Troy smiled and carefully leaned down. "Can I kiss you?"'
"Yes, please."
He gently touched his lips to hers and they shared a kiss. There was a knock at the door and Gabriella jumped out of her skin. "Shhh Precious, it's ok. I'm right here. You're safe." Gabriella hid her face in his neck. "Who is it?" Troy asked.
"Kelsi, can I come in?"
Gabriella nodded.
"Yeah, come in."
Kelsi came in and closed and locked the door behind her. She went over to the couple and rubbed Gabriella's back. "I'm here, Sweetie. How are you?"
"I love Troy." Gabriella said with a blush.
Troy and Kelsi chuckled.
"Well it's about time." Kelsi teased.
Troy just smiled. "Do you have good news for us?"
Kelsi sighed and shook her head. "No. I wish I did."
"What does that mean? I need to get Gabriella to my house." Troy told her. "I need to get her to where she feels comfortable."
"I know. But something new just happen, something not good."
Gabriella whimpered and clung tighter to Troy.
"What?" Troy asked hugging her tighter.
"The police called your Dad."
"And…"
Kelsi sighed and told him what the police told Jack. Troy sighed. "Who else knows?"
"Your Dad, You, Me, and…"
"And?" Troy asked
"The gang."
"Anyone else?"
Kelsi shook her head. "We won't tell anyone, Gabriella. You can trust us. We will keep this quiet. Nobody is going to figure it out."
Gabriella just clung even tighter to Troy and didn't speak a word. Troy sighed and kissed her head softly. "I need to get her out of here. We need to talk about it just the two of us and find out her side of the story before I believe anyone else."
Kelsi nodded. "We're working on getting rid of people, but nobody wants to leave. But we did find out they have a leader who is telling them when to leave and stay. Guess who it is?"
Troy sighed and groaned. "Please don't say it."
"Yes. Jackie."
Troy shook his head. "Of course she is. Why doesn't that surprise me?"
"We're doing everything we can, Troy. I promise we will get them to go away." Kelsi said.
"I know, thanks."
Kelsi headed back to the door.
"NO!" Gabriella cried and qickly looked up. "Kelsi!"
Kelsi spun around to see tears streaming down Gabriella's face. "Brie…"
"No go." She said like a child.
"You want me to stay in here with you?"
Gabriella nodded. "Please?"
"Of course."
Kelsi went back over to Gabriella and sat next to Troy and rubbed her back.
Kelsi looked down at Gabriella a few minutes later and smiled. "She's sleeping."
"Good. That means she feels safe." Troy said. "I just wish I could get her out of here."
"We will soon." Kelsi said. "Troy, how are you going to handle this? This new information changes things a lot."
"Honestly Kel, I'm not doing anything until I hear it from Gabriella. As far as I'm concerned its a rumor. Nothing is true until I hear it from Gabriella."
"She might not tell you in time."
"We've got all the time in the world."
"Not really...Troy, the police know the truth. They have proof. It's only a matter of time before Child Services gets involved..."
"Stop. I know. But I made her a promise and I'm not going to break it. I can and will protect her from anyone and anything who tries to take her from me."
Kelsi sighed and said no more. They both knew she was right but Troy just didn't want to admit it. The door opened and Jack walked in.
"Dad..."
"Troy just stop. I had no idea what was going on when I yelled at Gabriella. Now that I know...I'm not calling child services. At least not yet."
Troy sighed in relief. "Thanks."
"Don't thank me yet. The cops know and have her parents already in lock up. It's only a matter of time till one of them calls."
Troy sighed. "Can we just take her home? Once we are there I might be able to get more information out of her."
Jack nodded. "Let's go."
Troy climbed off the desk keeping Gabriella in his arms. She stirred and whimpered. "No, Troy!"
"Shhh shhh shhh. It's ok. We're going to my house. You're safe."
Gabriella relaxed and fell back to sleep. Troy nuzzled his face into her hair. Troy followed his dad out of the classroom. Everyone had left. Kelsi and the others stayed behind to do damage control.
They arrived home quickly. Troy went into his bedroom and laid Gabriella down on his bed. Gabriella whimpered and woke up. "No, Troy."
"Brie, Baby I'm right here." Troy cooed sitting down by her side and stroked her hair.
"Troy!" She cried and moved back into his arms. She snuggled into him and fell back to sleep.
Troy smiled softly and kissed her head. He moved around so his back was to the headboard. Gabriella laid on his lap in between his legs. He just let her sleep. He knew she hadn't gotten much sleep last night due to her injuries so he let her rest. They'd talk when she woke up.
After a few hours Gabriella stirred and opened her eyes. She looked and carefully sat up.
"Hey, Sleepyhead." Troy said.
Gabriella just smiled sleepily. He knew she wasn't fully awake yet. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head. It was quiet for a few minutes before Gabriella spoke. "I know you know." She whispered.
"I know nothing. I know what people have told me. But that doesn't mean I know anything. As far as I'm concerned it's a rumor. I won't believe it until I hear it from you."
"How are you so wonderful to me?"
"Because I love you." He answered.
They shared a gentle kiss on the lips and pulled away. Gabriella inhaled and exhaled a deep breath. "It's true. My parents aren't my parents they're kidnappers pretending to be my parents."
Troy gasped.
