Hey! I really hope you like this chapter! To be honest, this is one of my favorite stories I've written, so I hope you like it, too.
Coral's POV
I was waiting at the flagpole after school, reading my book. Annabeth was right next to me, reading her book also. Then came Nico, Jason, and Piper. Piper started to talk to Annabeth.
"Thalia decided to come, too," Nico said. I looked at him. "Seriously. She heard we were going to Burger King and said that she was coming, without even asking me."
I laughed. "Even if she did ask, she would answer it for you," I said, making him laugh.
"You two are a little...close," I heard a voice say from behind me. I jumped, bumping my head into Thalia's jaw. I turned to see her holding her jaw in pain.
"You have one hard head there," Thalia said. "Now I understand how Liam's head felt at P.E. today."
"His head probably hurt more than your jaw does. I hit him intentionally on the head with mine. When my head hit your jaw, it was an accident. If I had done it on purpose, you would only have very few teeth left in your mouth," I said.
"Wait...what?" Nico asked. I blushed. I really didn't want to tell him that I had hit Liam in the head with my head just to get a dodgeball.
"Dude! You should've seen her," Percy said. I was so wrapped up in accidentally hitting Thalia in the jaw, I didn't realize he was there. "She ran up to grab a dodge ball in P.E., and Liam Leckie went for the exact same ball. She hit him in the head with her head, then ran off and, later hit him in the gut with the exact same ball!"
I blushed at Percy's version of the story. He made me sound so...epic. I clearly wasn't epic, I know that. "Percy, you're saying it like it was a good thing. I feel so bad about it, and when I told Liam that, he told me to meet me in the library before school tomorrow, so that I could make up for hurting him like that. I really don't want to do that," I said. I had a feeling that Liam was going to make me do something that I didn't want to do just to make up for it.
"Did he say to come alone?" Percy asked. I shook my head. "Well, then we can all go into the library with you tomorrow."
I shook my head. "As much as I love you all, I don't think that I want to take you all into the library to watch me humiliate myself," I said.
"I'll go," Nico said. "You said you didn't want us all, but one of us wouldn't draw as much attention. And you know for sure I won't video tape what ever humiliating thing he makes you do."
He made an awesome point that I couldn't say no to. But I didn't want him to see what would probably be the most embarrassing thing I would ever do. But that was cowardice, so I said, "Okay. I'll meet you back here at the flag pole tomorrow morning." He nodded, smiling a smile that made me blush beet red.
"I don't know about you, but I'm in the mood for some fries," Thalia said, clearly bored. I rolled my eyes and stood up.
I spotted Hazel heading our way, holding Frank's hand. I beckoned them to hurry. As soon as they reached us, we headed toward Burger King. The whole way there, Thalia was trying to butt into conversations, getting pushed into the street constantly.
When we got to Burger King, I ordered an ice cream cone. Percy was apparently super hungry and ordered a double bacon cheeseburger meal. Everyone else either ordered ice cream, fries, or a drink.
"Check it!" Percy said. "I'm going to do the ultimate suicide." He grabbed his cup and filled it up with every drink. Annabeth was trying to persuade him it was a bad idea while the rest of us just sat there, staring expectantly at Percy.
When Percy sat down with his drink, we all backed out of spit range, just in took a sip and his eyes went wide. Annabeth saw his expression and backed away quickly, knowing it was too late to save him.
Percy spit the sip he just took all over the table. Apparently, Thalia didn't back up enough to be out of splash zone. Her face was soaked with Percy spit. She gave Percy her signature glare. He refilled his cup with coke, took the bag of food that Annabeth had managed to save, gived her a quick peck on the lips, and booked it, running away from Thalia.
I laughed. "Now I'm glad they came," I told Nico. He smiled and nodded.
Nico walked me home afterward. "I do kind of wish we could've been alone there. I mean, sure it was funny with the whole suicide thing, but I guarantee you, I will see that again," I told him.
He nodded. "I guess I'm just trying to get along with people now, and decided that saying no would make them like me less," Nico said.
"I, honestly, don't think that they would like you less, I just think that they would've come anyway to spy on us," I said. He laughed.
"I wouldn't doubt that. Considering Leo has the ability to make the proper technology..."he said. I laughed.
"And Thalia seems to have to hearing abilities of a bat..."I said, making him laugh again.
We stopped and I realized we had reached my apartment. Time went by so fast! "Well...see you Monday," I said. He nodded and waved as I went up the steps and into my apartment. I shut the door to see my entire family in the living room, about to tell me the surprise of my life...
Annabeth's POV
After Coral and Nico left, I ran off after Percy and Thalia, who were running around the building. Usually Percy does things like that on purpose to Thalia at camp, just to get on her nerves. That time, I don't think it was on purpose, but he didn't regret doing it.
I quickly caught up with Thalia, and took her arm. She kept struggling against my arm, but I wouldn't let her go. Soon, Percy came around the corner, very quickly. I grabbed his arm and held him back, too.
"Thalia, you go back inside with your brother. Percy, you come with me," I said, then let Thalia go. This happened so much at camp, they knew better than to disobey me.
I dragged Percy away from Burger king, and started heading toward his mom's apartment. We didn't say anything the whole way there, just held hands and listened to the sounds of the city: honking horns, cars zooming by, and music from the people in the cars that play their music way too loud.
When we finally reached his apartment, he said, "You wanna stay for dinner? I'm sure my mom would LOVE to have you over."
I laughed and nodded. His mom, Sally Jackson, was the sweetest person I had ever met.
We went through the door as Percy yelled, "Mom, I'm home! Annabeth is here!" I rolled my eyes at him. He's such a seaweed brain.
"Hello, Annabeth!" Sally said sweetly.
"Hi, Sally! How are you?" I asked her politely.
"Oh, I'm doing just fine. Are you staying for dinner?" she asked. She always asked that, because she wanted to know if she should cook for three or four. I nodded and her eyes brightened.
"Is Paul home?" Percy asked.
Sally shook her head. "He called and said that he was going to stay a little late to grade papers, but he'll be home for dinner," Sally said. "I assume you have homework? And don't say no, because Paul said he was making you guys write a report on whether or not you think kids should have a longer lunch period."
"Yes, mom. I have homework," Percy said. He ran to his room.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Don't worry, Sally. I'll make sure he does all his homework," I told her. She smiled, nodded, and walked back into the kitchen. I ran to Percy's room, to find Percy pretending to be asleep on his bed. I rolled my eyes. I smirked and said, "Poseidon, what are you doing here?"
Percy's head jerked up and said, "Dad?" I started cracking up. "Hey! That's not fair! I was just trying to get out of doing homework!"
"That's the point! You need to do your homework, Percy. Come on, I'll help you," I told him.
"Fine," Percy said and got his homework out of his backpack. He took out his math book, and said, "I need help," without even opening the book.
"This is how you open a book, Percy," I said, and opened the book, then closed it again. "Now you try. Turn to page 108."
He slowly opened the book to page 108. Then said, "Now what?"
"Now, whenever you answer a question right, I'll give you a kiss," I said. His eyes lit up and he did a problem and showed it to me. I guessed all this tutoring from Coral and I had been paying off on him, because he got the problem right. I gave him a kiss on the lips and said, "Correct."
He smirked and did another one. He finished all thirty questions in a half an hour. "Now, you'll give me a kiss for every word I spell right on my essay, right?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "I think you need fresh air, because you sound crazy," I told him. He stuck his tongue out at me. I rolled my eyes.
Suddenly, I heard three knocks, a pause, then two more knocks at the front door. Percy jumped up, and said, "That's Coral."
"Well, you do need a little break from homework. Let's go see what she wants," I said. Percy nodded and ran to the front door.
When we got there, Coral was crying. "What's wrong?" I asked her.
She looked up and said, "I just found out that I was adopted," in a shaky voice. "I got mad and started crying, so I came here to talk to Percy, but I'm glad you're here, Annabeth."
She took a couple deep breaths. "This is embarrassing," she said as she wiped her eyes. "I just wished they would've told me sooner." She sniffed and took another deep breath.
"No, it's okay to cry. I would've, too if I found out I was adopted," I told her.
"Are your other siblings adopted, too?" Percy asked her. If it wasn't Coral, who already knew Percy well enough to know he was a seaweed brain, I would've elbowed him for being rude.
Coral shook her head, and said, "My parent said they went to support a friend of theirs that was having a baby, when my brother ran off. They ended up finding him in the baby adoption room, where they saw me, and decided to adopt me."
"I just think you need to play some Minecraft," Percy said. Coral laughed. Leave it to Percy to say a stupid comment and make Coral laugh.
"I also came to tell you that I might not be the same on Monday. It's kind of a hard thing to take," she said, looking down at her feet.
"We're your friends, Coral. We can help you get through this," I told her. She smiled at me.
"Yeah. That's why you guys are the best friends anyone could ask for," she said. She hugged both Percy and me, though she hugged me first.
"You know who really will help you with it? Nico," Percy said. Coral blushed at Nico's name.
"How would he help any more than you guys would?" she asked, still blushing.
"Well, for one he could ask-" Percy started, but got cut off when I put my hand over his mouth.
"Percy, Annabeth, dinner's ready," Sally called from the kitchen.
"I think you should go," I told Coral. She nodded and left.
Ooh! Got a little Percabeth in there! Hope you liked it! Oh and I got over 2000 words! Yay!
