Chapter 11: Dragoon the Great

"So it was Morgana was it?" Merlin said, deep in thought. "It must have been her presence calling you."

I rolled back my sleeve to reveal the strange scar left from that night. I studied it closely, it only had just occurred to me how much it resembled a 'M'.

"M for Morgana" I whispered.

"How come nothing happened to Merlin?" Relia questioned. "My mental barriers are a lot stronger than yours" The young warlock stated, "She is strong enough to change my eyes."

"So why were we in so much pain?" The princess asked.

"When a dark external magical force tries to enter your mind, it will try anything to break down your barriers" I explained "Our glowing eyes when we use magic indicates the presence of magic, we can control this colour most of the time. The purple eyes, however, indicate the presence of another entity which we can't control, this is usually how we know if someone is possessed. The pain is our body rejecting the other presence, eventually, if the power is strong enough our body gives in."

"Morgana was probably testing her connection between you." Merlin said, "She planning something."

A few days had passed. There had been no further incidences relating to Morgana. I was still on edge about whether or not something might happen. Arthur was growing wary.

"Is something on your mind Rosemary," he asked when we were in the garden together. "Nothing" I muttered. "Do not lie to me" He said sternly "Both you, my sister and Merlin have been acting strangely. What is going on?"

"I think everyone in the kingdom is just worried about the king, sire…..Arthur….sorry" I stuttered. "I wish there was something we could do."

He turned sharply to me, "You know a lot about magic don't you?"

I froze. Had he finally figured it out?

"Uh, yes" I squeaked back. "You must know of some healer right?" He said grabbing my shoulders "Anything in any books?" "What about Gaius?" I asked "He just a herbalist," The Prince replied. "We need someone with incredible healing abilities," "I'll see what I can find," I said, my voice wobbling. "Come to my chambers at once as soon as you find something." "Yes sire" I replied.

"What am I going to do!" I shouted at Merlin and Gaius, "How am I supposed to find someone?" "I have an idea," Merlin piped up "Do you remember when I use to disguise myself as Dragoon the Great? Well, what if I used the ageing spell again to help Uther?" "Merlin, you are a genius," I said hugging him.

I headed to Arthur's chambers. "Sire," I said swinging the door open, "I have found someone to help your father." Arthur jumped to his feet "Well, where is this great sorcerer?" "There is an old man who lives in the forest in the old charcoal makers hut." I replied, remembering what Merlin had told me "Perhaps you've heard of him, his name is Dragoon the Great"

"How much further away Merlin?" Arthur said, annoyed "I haven't got all day"

Of course, Merlin had been dragged along making our plan even harder to achieve. "It's just a bit further through this thicket." Merlin replied sighing "What are we going to do?" I asked him through our bond "I'll think of something" he replied

At last, we arrived at the hut. "Arthur," Merlin said, Arthur turned towards him "What now Merlin." "I really need to pee, go on without me, I won't be long." Arthur rolled him eyes, "Come on Rosemary." I followed him obediently into the hut.

The room had simple walls made of stone. Several dead animals and skins hanging around on display. There were also many pots, candles, and tools. A small place for a fire and a bed with another room with a dining table.

I heard a clatter behind me followed by Arthur cursing under his breath. A small pot rolled to my feet. "Silly old fool with all his magic crap, he knows nothing" "I know more than you could possibly comprehend." croaked a voice. I turned towards it and rolled my eyes

He had somehow managed to steal and ageing potion from Gaius and completely transformed into a much older version of himself with long silvery hair equally matched by a long grey beard.

"You broke my favourite pot you codfish, man servant," Dragoon the Great said to Arthur, I tried very hard not to laugh. "Ah, hello my dear," Dragoon turn his attention towards me "It's very good to finally meet you, how is your brother Merlin?" "This is no time for games old man" Arthur hissed "Tut tut, have you no manners boy?" The Great Wizard said hushing a very annoyed Arthur, "I know what has happen, have this young lady and your manservant outside assist me whilst you ride back to be with your father.

"We must make hast" Arthur said impatiently, "Help him collect his things Rosemary, and I shall retrieve your idiotic brother" I nodded and hurried, obediently, over to Dragoon.

"I prey to the gods that this works" I whispered through the bond as Dragoon rushed outside a back door to transform back to Merlin, "For the sake of Arthur and Camelot."

"I hope so too." replied Merlin re entering the hut while the sound galloping from Arthur's horse slowly grew quieter.

I stared out through the window where the forest canopy split to reveal the castle turrets. If Uther were to die not only would Relia and Arther be in danger and Camelot could reach it's destruction.
