Chapter Fourteen
"Zerrick! Get out here!" Shaela yelled.
"Huh? What?" Zerrick mumbled, trying to see where he was. Then he remembered. He was trying to sleep.
"I'm here." Zerrick said a little louder, bumping into the door and slowly sliding it open. "What is it? I'm trying to sleep."
"Alright Zerrick. I was just wondering where you were. We haven't seen you since you came out of the cargo bay with Lilith, and that was almost three days ago." Shaela said, her face betraying her worry.
"I'm fine. Just really tired." Zerrick replied, and was about to close the door when he saw Lilith. She waved her hand, but not in a 'hello' manner. Immediately Zerrick felt mad.
"I'd appreciate it if you left me alone until we made it to Agamar." With that, Zerrick slammed the door almost onto Shaela's hand as she reached for him.
"Well, fine!" Shaela yelled into the door. She turned angrily and almost rammed straight into Lilith.
"Out of my way." Shaela growled, shouldering Lilith out of the way. Lilith simply smiled. Everything was going according to plan. Now to find out how long till Dantooine.
"Hey Nex." Someone said behind him. Turning, Nex saw that it was Lilith.
"Hey Lilith." Nex said back. "You need something?" He asked, turning back to his controls.
"Not really, I just wanted to know how long till Dantooine." Lilith told him. "I'm starting to get cabin fever, I need to get out." She explained. Nex began to check something, hen he turned back to her.
"There's about fifteen minutes until we arrive. You don't need to worry." Nex smiled, leaning back in his chair.
"Do you need to take us out of hyperspace, or is it on autopilot?" Lilith asked. Nex gave her a confused face.
"It's on auto, we'll come out when we hit the coordinates. Why do you ask?" Nex asked back.
"Oh, no reason." Lilith said. Nex moved to go back to his controls, but somehow he felt that something was going to happen. Nex spun back around, but unfortunately, he was too late. The knife Lilith was about to cut his spine with instead cut him across the upper chest. Nex was stunned for a few moments, allowing Lilith to plunge it into his left shoulder.
"Agh!" Nex tried to call for help, but he was kneed in the mouth, which stunned him. Out of blurry eyes, he saw Lilith take something from her robes. He didn't know what it was, but he couldn't move. Lilith came up, her face distorted to wicked proportions. She took his arm, and stuck something sharp into it. Nex's last moments were Lilith's mouth beside his ear, whispering "Good night."
"Nex! Where are you?" Shaela called out again. She'd been looking for him since Zerrick's cold shoulder. So far, she'd checked everywhere except Lilith's room and the cockpit. So she headed up towards the cockpit. But before she could get to the stairs, someone came down them. Shaela was about to call out again, but whoever it was was moving too quickly and quietly than Nex. Shaela backed around a wall, and peered around it. It was Lilith, and she had blood all along one of her arms!
"Oh no." Shaela murmured, horrified. Once the coast was clear, Shaela bolted up the stairs. To her utter dismay, sprawled on the floor of the cockpit was Nex. He had a knife in his shoulder and he was covered in blood.
"No . . . No!" Shaela shrieked. She was about to cry, her friend was dead, but then something occurred to her. Lilith had done this, obviously. But when she left the stairs she had been heading towards the cabins.
"Zerrick! ZERRICK!" Shaela screamed. She rushed through the ship, bumping into walls and doors, but she made good time. When she finally arrived in the cabin corridor, she saw Lilith at the other end, speaking into a comlink. Furious, Shaela pulled her pistol and fired several shots. They all missed. Lilith glanced towards her with a devilish smile, and turned back to her comlink.
"Thank you Master. We'll prepare to dock with you. Lilith out." She said before closing the channel and slipping the comlink into her belt.
"I'll kill you!" Shaela screamed. This only caused Lilith to smile.
"I think you should be worrying about your own life right now." Lilith drawled.
"What are you talking about?" Shaela said, confused. Then, behind her, came the noise of a lightsaber igniting. Shaela didn't even have enough time to breathe, before the blade went through her, in her back and out her stomach. But what was even worse was the colour. It was the pitch black blade of Zerrick.
