The thing that came first was the ice and the cold.

I fell through, and almost immediately, I could feel the end of me slipping closer and closer towards me. Minutes passed, and I really, honestly tried to move. Hypothermia was starting to seep in, and when that hit, I knew I would be a goner. And if i was going away, who would take care of Emma? Who would play with her, and have fun with her, and protect her, and watch her grow up?! I tried and tried to move myself, trying to get back to the surface. Trying to get back to Emma.

Jack be nimble.

But, by the time I stopped moving, my heart also stopped beating.

My body floated down, and down to the bottom of the lake. My memory was slipping too. Who was that girl in my mind? Why did I care who she was?

Jack be quick.

Suddenly, I started floating back up. My mind seemed conscious, and I felt that I couldn't open my eyes, or breathe. I fell up through hard surface, and I breathed in cold air. I felt cold myself, but it was a cold that didn't bother me. I looked up to the moon. The moon and its shining, blue and white glory.

But he forgot to check...

Jack Frost. It talked.

Is that my name or yours? I thought.

Jack Frost is your name. The moon said, seeming it have read my thought.

And after that, I was left alone to figure out the rest.

...If the ice was thick.
