Chapter 13: It's about Time

Today was finally the day, Atem who three days ago became Pharaoh is now finally marrying the girl of his dreams. Everyone in the palace was busy getting everything ready for today, even the entire kingdom heard the news that their newly appointed king was now going to have a Queen by his side m, all of his subjects were happy. Yes today was a glorious day in the kingdom of Egypt. Atem who was in charge of getting everything ready made sure not to make it big just like his girl wanted, though he honestly didn't care about himself he didn't add any touches. He didn't pick the color scheming, the flowers, the food, all he did was make sure everything was in the proper place. Atem didn't have anything to do with anything because he wanted to make Dawn the happiest women on earth, today was her day and she should be special and Atem wanted to make it her day. It honestly wasn't about him, sure he was getting married and now having a Queen by his side but today was all about the bride, her big day.

"My Pharaoh" his cousin Seto comes up to him and smile, "Everything is in place. The food is also ready." Atem smiled, "Thank you Seto. I'm very pleased with all that you have done along with all the servants. Today is a joyous occasion but Seto I want you to go around and tell the entire palace that have two days off for their hard work. That also includes all High Priests, Priestess, and Magicians." "Atem that's all well said and done and I'll do as you ask but I'm part of your high court a holder of the Millennium Rod. I and the other holders can't take break because what if something happens to you, our job is to protect you" Seto said. "I'll be fine. I may be your cousin but I'm now Pharaoh, tell the everyone and I mean everyone they have two days off that's an order Seto." Seto sighed heavily, his cousin was very stubborn and bowed to him, "As you command my Pharaoh." Atem watch him leave he sighed, he couldn't take a break even if he wanted to Atem couldn't he was the Pharaoh now. Atem remember that his father hardly took break but when he did he would spend time with him. Atem was going to do the same, he won't follow his father foot steps exactly but he'll keep some of his fathers wisdom.

Atem walked toward his room, he was going to share this room soon and it made him happy. As he had his eyes closed, Mahad walked into the room. "My Pharaoh you shoul be getting ready. The ceremony is going to begin soon and your bride to be is beautiful." Atem turned his head, "Alright I will but don't say anything more Mahad you know the laws. This law is true for anyone not just nobles, I don't need to know how she looks let alone speak with her. You know that the day of any wedding your not allowed to see your lover until the wedding begins." Mahad nodded, "That I do and I'm sorry for saying anything at all but this isn't the first time you haven't been away from her. Remember when you got jealous because of something you saw and blamed her for it, you didn't speak to Dawn for days you didn't want to hear her side of the story." Atem closed his eyes as he started getting dress, "I remember and it was the biggest mistake of my life." He hasn't wore his tunic all day, he didn't want to wear it today until it was time and what he wore was just simple noble clothes for the men. Now he was fully dressed, the crown on his head, the millennium puzzle around his neck, and he blue cape that was behind his back.

"Even when I got jealous and blame her, the words I said to her...my heart ache. I know I'm not supposed to cry and not show emotion but I did once I reached my room. I will remember that day until I die." Mahad nodded, "Yes you will but despite being jealous and not talking her for days your love for only grew." Atem remembered that too, yes his love for Dawn only grew, "Yeah but today is joyous and I can be depressed or feel guilty. I'm marrying Dawn today so come let's go Mahad." With Mahad by his side, Atem left to his throne room, ceremony was taking place there it had too. Soon everyone who was in the palace arrived, his uncle believe or not was going to marry them. Atem sat in his throne and another one would soon be built, back in the day if you weren't noble birth the person would never be able to join meetings discuss changes and go never sit directly next to them. Since Atem was now Pharaoh the second law he passed was that the old traditions when people were not noble born was to forget them. Everyone was to be treated as equals.

Finally the room became quiet and Atem saw the doors opened, the moment she walked in the room the entire world didn't exist to him anymore. The Egyptian dress she wore was beautiful, she looked like a goddess to him and Atem then took her hand the moment she reached the throne. The two went down the steps and on the floor and his uncle walked in front of them. Atem was standing next Dawn as his uncle was talking he whispered into her, "You look absolutely beautiful." Dawn blush but smiled knowing that he was the only who could make her feel this way. His uncle then grabbed a cup, "The two of you must drink from this cup to show your sign of commitment." The two grabbed the cup from his hands, Atem took a drink first and then gave to Dawn he drank after him once they were done they gave it back to his uncle. Nothing more was said just silence, a soothing light was shone upon them and it came from the heavens and Atem knew the gods of Egypt were blessing them, that he and Dawn were meant to be. Atem then smiled, and ask Seto to bring him a certain item and when his cousin came back, Atem grabbed the item. "Dawn I forgot to give you a ring the night I ask you to marry me. This two rings were forge for both you and I." Atem then slid the ring on her finger, of course it fit perfectly and she did the same thing to him. His uncle smile at the two of them, "Let it be know that this day with the blessings from the gods of Egypt these two are now married."

Finally it was over and Atem just brought her in for a kiss, a very passionate kiss. When the need for air become to get they parted and Dawn was a blushing mess, Atem just chuckled at her face. His uncle then went to grabbed a crown made from her, "Here Atem shes your wife now and because your Pharaoh she is now the queen of Egypt." Atem grabbed it from his uncle and smiled, "Thanks you so much uncle." His uncle then stood next to his son and Atem placed the queen of her head. "What I don't get a special coronation?" Atem just shook his head, "No once you became my wife that automatically makes you a queen. This crown also proof of that and to the citizens of our Kingdom." The couple then walked outside to met with the entire kingdom, they welcome the new queen with open arms and once they was finished the couple went back inside for the party. The party lasted hours and when it was over Atem just picked up Dawn bridal style and carried her to their now shared bedroom. Once she was sat in the bed Atem just smiled at her, "Rest my love you need your rest." Dawn looked at him and nodded, she didn't bother changing out of her clothes and fell asleep. Atem smiled softly at her, he kissed her forhead softly and laid next to her not bother to change either. Atem held her softly against his chest, "I love you Dawn nothing will ever change that" then sleep finally over took him as well.
