Summer Blake: The Demon Slayer

Chapter 14: Talk about a Zombie Apocalypse

How was she going to explain this one?

She wouldn't doubt that straight away Ciel would notice the similar blue ring on her finger and have A LOT of questions. Honestly, she would do the same. Maybe he would think the worst?

Ronald looked to Summer. "Are you ready to go?"

The girl had packed a suitcase of clothes and some stuff she thought she might need that weren't readily available in the Victorian Era. It was better to be properly prepared this time in case something happened again. Summer sighed. "Yes, I'm ready!"

Ronald started his death scythe and yanked it up, opening a portal. Sebastian flew off of Summer's shoulder and onto a near by fence. The slayer turned to the crow. "Please watch over Jasper and Cian for me Sebastian. I hope they won't be too angry with me for sneaking off like this."

Caw!

"See ya Ronald!" Summer saluted before jumping into the portal, which closed behind her.

"See you sooner than you think." He said, smiling before knowingly looking to the crow that sat on the fence beside him. "So, you finally revealed yourself?" Caw! Caw! "That means she's getting closer to the truth." Caw! Caw!

A grin of mischief came to the grim reapers face. "We already know how this will play out."

Finding a mysterious glowing portal appearing in his study, Ciel Phantomhive was shocked to Summer coming through it, falling to the floor with a thud.

"Ouch!" The girl yelped, bringing a hand to her bottom. "These dresses definetly don't help with falls."

"Summer?" Ciel said, eyeing the girl.

She looked over to the Earl and smiled. "Yeah, it's me. Sorry to drop in on you like this...literally, but I'm back."

He was about to say something back when he immediately noticed the sapphire ring on her finger. "Where did you get that?" He asked, shocked.

She knew this was coming. "Um...well...about that." She paused, gulping before explaining. "Turns out I'm a descendant of yours."

Ciel wasn't buying it, looking up to her unamused. "How is that possible? How can you know that?"

"I had a DNA test done before I left and when I got back, it told me I was a Phantomhive." Summer told him, a sad looking gracing her face. "However...not much info is left on the Phantomhive's so I don't know who my parents are...or if they are even alive."

Now he was a bit curious, wanting to know more. He knew it was wrong...but if she was a descendant of his then that meant he had a child somewhere down the line before he found his family's killer. The girl was from the future after all. "Tell me more."

Summer looked up at him shocked before a smile came to her face. "W-well, after finding out that news Jasper, Cian and I moved into the Manor...or at least what was left of it." Ciel's eye went wide. "We've been doing repairs for it. And I was also crowned the Queen's Watchdog." She played with the ring. "That's how I got this."

A ton of questions were still left for Ciel to ask before they were interrupted by Lizzie bursting through the door. "Ciel~!" She stopped in her tracks noticing Summer. "Summer!" Elizabeth took the Slayer into a hug, tears in her eyes. "You look better. I'm glad you're okay! Edward will be thrilled to hear this! He's been worried sick about you."

Summer looked to her with a raised eyebrow. Why was Edward so worried about her?

"Lizzie, what brings you here?" Ciel asked.

"Listen! We're having a family trip in April! We will travel to New York on a luxury passenger ship for 3 weeks from the 17th! And so, father was wondering if you'd like to..."

She was cut off before she could finish. "That's impossible."

Lizzie looked shocked and saddened. "It's a ticket for the campania's maiden voyage. They say it's the most luxurious ship in the world. Mother said it would be good if Ciel took a rest every once in a while." The blonde girl looked over to the brunette. "You're invited to come as well Summer now that you're back!"

Ciel calmly replied to her. "I appreciate the thought but I can't that much time off."

Lizzie looked on the verge of tears. "Aww..."

"I think it sounds like fun. Count me in!" Summer said, speaking up.

Elizabeth gasped. "Really?" Summer nodded as both girls began cheering.

Ciel realized he was outnumbered here, gritting his teeth. "I'll go if it's somewhere close."

"EH?!" This caught Lizzie's attention.

"Somewhere close you hear me! I can make time for a few days. Then I'll go wherever you want."

On cue, Lizzie took him into a hug completely overjoyed. "As long as we're together anywhere is fine! I'm so happy!"

Ciel blushed a little. "Anywhere is the most difficult you know..."

Pulling away from the hug, the girl bid them goodbye. "I'll let my parents and Edward know you're back and healthy. See you and Ciel in April!"

Watching as she left in the carriage, Summer turned to give Ciel a teasing look. "You made her really happy."

"Stop looking at me like that!" Ciel said, blushing. "It's my job to keep my fiancee happy after all."

It was quiet between them as both were stuck in their own thoughts. It was a bit awkward between them knowing that they were possibly related centuries down the line. They both didn't know how to deal with this at all.

Summer decided to break the silence. "Uh, where's Sebastian?"

"I sent him on a mission for me."

"Oh." Summer said before speaking again. "Speaking of him, I found him in the mansion...in my time. He appeared to me as a crow of all things."

Ciel looked up at her. "Did you two make a contract?"

She shook her head. "No. However, he's been following me around. I don't know why, but he said he was there waiting for me."

Ciel thought that interesting, wondering why Sebastian would do that. Was it because of something about to happen?Speaking of the devil, the Earl was shocked to find the demon grinning at him once he turned to look out his window.

Sebastian looked to Summer, surprised to see her back again. "I see Miss Blake has returned and is in perfect health again."

"UWAHH!" Ciel jumped back. "Don't scare me like that! And what's with that outfit!"

Sebastian jumped through the window in a Doctor's outfit with glasses framing his face. "Well, as they say, when in Rome do as the Roman's do. Moreover, I obtained some rather interesting information. It's about the aforementioned Karnstein Hospital. It's seems that the upper rank doctor's, including the director Ryan Stoker, have opened an association called the "Aurora Society."

Summer looked confused about what was going on.

The butler continued talking. "According to a nurse who squealed, the Aurora Society holds presentations for the results of their experiments regularly and collects donations from nobles. The Aurora Society's true face is that of a secret society that consists solely of doctor's who have 'The complete salvation of mankind through medicine. As their motto...it has been confirmed that the members conduct illegal human experiments within the hospital daily."

The Slayer looked between the two of them, trying to piece this together.

"There was no sign of slaves inside the hospital and there was nothing pertaining to human experiments or the revival of the dead."

"Excuse me, but what did you say about reviving the dead?" Summer asked, finally catching on.

"There have been reports of the dead being revived." Ciel sighed. "It couldn't get any fishier than this, huh?"

Sebastian answered. "Yes. I'm certain there is some definite clue to be found in this "Aurora Society."

The Slayer's eyes went wide, feeling her heart race a little. "Wait, so were talking about a Zombie Apocalypse?"

They both looked to her obviously not understanding what she was talking about. "Zombies?"

She waved it off. "Nevermind. Do you know when they're planning this next meeting?"

"It is scheduled to be on a passenger ship departing from Southampton port on the 17th of April."

Ciel and Summer looked to each other. "Wait, that's the trip Lizzie was just talking about!" Summer pointed out.

The little Earl jolted up from his chair, slamming his hands onto his desk. "What is the name of that boat?"

"The Blue Star line's luxury ship... Campania."

Lizzie looked to Ciel with tears in her eyes, before taking him into a hug. "Even though you said you couldn't come. I'm so happy!"

"Elizabeth!" The familiar voice of Francis Midford was heard as Summer turned to greet her. "Please do not display such indecent behavior in public!"

"That's right Lizzy. Moreover..." Edward pointed at Ciel. "I still haven't acknowledged you as my brother-in-law, okay! So get off her!"

"Marchioness." Summer said, giving a little curtsy.

"Miss Blake...I'm glad to see you are better. You gave our children quite the scare." Francis said, a small smile on her face.

Edward looked to Summer, happy to see her once again. "I-I'm glad you're back now." He wasn't going to even mention that weird scene he saw when she left with her friend. He still couldn't understand what he saw.

"Thank you. It's good to be back." She smiled, causing Edward to blush shyly.

Alexis noticed this and smiled. "It's nice to see my future son-in-law and future daughter-in-law again."

Ciel and Summer looked to each other before looking back to him. "HUH?!" Summer said.

Sitting down at a table, the Midfords, Phantomhive and Summer were enjoying a nice cup fo tea while continuing to chat among each other.

"So you'll be with us the whole three weeks?" Alexis asked.

Lizzie squealed. "We've never been together for so long before! Escort me to the dinner party Ciel?"

"Okay, okay!"

Across the table beside Summer was Edward glaring and growling at the little Earl. Summer looked to him. "I think she will be in safe hands with Ciel." She said, trying to reassure him.

Edward sighed. "I have yet to believe that."

"I guess since Lizzie is going with Ciel, will you escort me to the party Edward?" She asked, smiling at him.

"I would be honored to Miss Summer." He replied happily.

Alexis gave him a thumbs up. "That's my boy!"

Ciel just grimaced, muttering to himself. "What the hell..." If Edward and the Midfords were to find out the truth about Summer, they would be heartbroken and shock. Especially since it seemed his cousin had a crush on her.

3 days later... Campania 1st class passenger lounge.

Edward greeted Summer at her room as promised and escorted her down to the party. She was in awe over all of it, especially since this was her first time on a boat or a cruise for that matter. Being stuck in an orphanage most of her life without parents hardly gave her the chance to get outside and do much.

This was like a dream to her.

"Would you like me to get you anything?" Edward asked, causing her to look over to the tables decorated with fancy foods. Oh shit. That was the good kind of food.

"Yes, I would appreciate that." Summer replied. "Thank you."

As Edward went off, the Slayer began to scan the crowd. She noticed Lizzie dragging Ciel through the crowds and going after the same food table Edward was heading to. If she thought about it, her family was right before her eyes...well, at least like great-great grand family.

It didn't bother her though. At least it was something and she wouldn't complain.

Feeling arms wrap around her from behind, Summer tensed up. "It's really you, isn't it Summer? I'm glad you're back! I thought you were going to die!"

She turned around to see the smiling face of Alois with Hannah and the Triplets behind him. "Oh my god, Alois! I'm so happy to see you!" She took him into a hug this time. "A-And you're safe. Good!"

"It's all thanks to you. You risked your life to save me!" He exclaimed.

From across the way Edward was bringing plates back when he noticed Summer talking with Alois and hugging him. For some reason it made him stop in his tracks and freeze. Why was he doubting himself? Why was he feeling like he suddenly couldn't connect with Summer? Like he couldn't even be a part of her world.

Hannah looked to her, nodding. "I'm glad you're better. My master was worried sick about you."

"Master? Are you guys in a contract now?" Summer asked.

Alois shook his head, chuckling. "No. However Hannah here wanted to stay by my side and I obliged. Those three just happen to follow her wherever she goes though." He said, pointing at the demon triplets who just remained emotionless and quiet. "They are useful though."

"I was going to ask Ciel about how you've been."

Edward walked away sadly, leaving the two to talk with each other.

"After the incident I decided to take cruises around the world and travel. I want to see as much of the world as I can."

Summer's eyes widened. "Lucky! I want to do that. This is my first time on a cruise or even a boat. Where have you gone so far?"

"China, India and now we are heading to New York." Alois waved his hand nonchalant. "Why don't you just stay with me? I can take you wherever you want. After all, I know how restricting it can be being raised in an Orphanage most of your life."

She gave him a small smile. "Actually, I'm here with Ciel and someone else right now."

"Are you trying to attend that Aurora Society meeting?" Alois suddenly asked.

Summer looked to him surprised. "Yes...you know about it?"

"Of course, I got the invite for it." He said, waiving a little paper around in the air. "You wanna come with me?"
