Amberkit blinked open her eyes. She saw her mother of course. Dovewing turned to look at her. She was obviously excited about something. Amberkit took a moment to get used to her surroundings but once she did, she wanted to go outside. But Dovewing grabbed her before she could go outside.
"You've opened your eyes Amberkit" Dovewing meowed. Dovewing licked her ears but Amberkit wriggled out of her grasp.
"Can I go out mom?" Amberkit whined. Dovewing hesitated.
"You're a bit small to go outside but I suppose you can with someone else" Amberkit groaned. Sometimes her mom was a bit too overprotective. She craned her neck over her mom's paw to see who it was. Once she did, she knew it was a nice cat. She was black with gray splotches. Amberkit raced over to her, ignoring Dovewing's frantic meows.
"Are you going to play with me?" Amberkit asked sweetly. Spottedpaw glanced down at the kit and groaned.
"Really Dovewing? I was just about to go and check on my friends in ThunderClan. Oh well" Spottedpaw called across the clearing"Shrewfoot, take my place, will you?" Shrewfoot nodded and ran out of camp. The two had almost become best friends. Spottedpaw signed. She grabbed some moss and formed it into a ball. She flung it in the air. Amberkit squealed and pelted after it. They played the game until Amberkit had to go take a nap.
Spottedpaw breathed a sign of relief as Amberkit was bundled into the nursery for her nap. She raced into ThunderClan territory and found Shrewfoot waiting for her. Together they headed up the ravine and watched in silence.
"Lilyfrost, come here. You'll lead a hunting patrol. Take whoever you want" Squirrelflight meowed. Lilyfrost nodded and beckoned to Sorrelpaw and her mentor, Millie to go. Spottedpaw breathed a sign of relief. Her friends were still apprentices. That must ment that Mousepaw was somewhere with Bumblestripe and Fernpaw with Icecloud. But some thing had changed. Lilypaw was now Lilyfrost. So that meant Seedpaw was a full medicine cat now. She had promised Jayfeather she would bring back news of his former apprentice. She saw Cherrypaw and Molepaw too. Thought they probably became warriors a long time ago, thought Spottedpaw miserably. She still listened for their names.
"Hey Cherryfeather, want to help me collect herbs for Seedfire?" Molepaw called to his sister across the clearing.
"Sure Molespots" Cherryfeather meowed back. Spottedpaw was struck with awe. What great warrior names. But who was Seedfire? Could that possibly be Seedpaw? As if on cue, Seedfire appeared from the medicine den. Suddenly she heard a screech.
"Intruders" Blossomfall yowled. Oh no. Spottedpaw grabbed Shrewfoot and they were off. They eventually outpaced the ThunderClan patrol. Back in camp, they found another surprise. Who could be lying in the middle of the clearing but Mintfur. Another cat chased out of his Clan. What a disaster! Kestrelflight was helping Jayfeather tend to Mintfur. Jayfeather looked up as Spottedpaw came in.
"Seedpaw?"
"Seedfire now" Spottedpaw answered.
"Good for her" Jayfeather muttered but Spottedpaw could see his eyes blazed with happiness and pride.
"I have an apprentice too" Ketrelflight put in.
"Honeypaw right?" Jayfeather meowed.
"Yes and I'm not finished her training yet. That's why I have to go back to WindClan." Kestrelflight got up and leaned beside his brother.
"Goodbye Emberfoot. Heal well." And just like that he was gone. Spottedpaw decided to help.
"Can I help, Jayfeather?" He looked up.
"What oh sure. Mintfur has a long gash in his flank. Pretty deep. Go look for some herbs in my den. Ask Seedfire to help you" He seemed to remember Seedfire wasn't here. "Or Cinderheart" he meowed, embarrassed. Spottedpaw nodded. She looked around camp and found Cinderheart playing with Amberkit. She had heard she was expecting kits. More brothers and sisters. Yay! Well forget about Cinderheart. Spottedpaw raced in Jayfeather's den. She looked around. Her mind was blank, she thought panickly. Then all of a sudden her memories came back. It hit her. Hard. She picked herself up and started scanning the herb store. "Let's see,Horsetail, Dried oak leaves, Marigold of course, cobwebs and some tansy. Oh yeah and I suppose we need some Dock for his other scratches." She tried to pick up the bundle with her mouth but dropped everything.
"What's the hold up" Jayfeather yowled.
"Coming" Spottedpaw yowled back. She tied them up in a leaf wrap then headed to Jayfeather. He opened up the leaf wrap and frowned.
"Bring some heather nectar. Makes it easier to swallow. And honey. He's traveled far. I reckon he's got any energy left in him." Spottedpaw giggled. He sounded like Purdy. She went to grab the heather nectar and honey. Spottedpaw found plenty of heather nectar but just two honeycombs. She poked her head out of the den.
"There's little honey left"
"Bring it anyway. I'll get some more later" Jayfeather called. Spottedpaw shrugged and did as he said. He waved her away.
"I'll be fine now." Spottepaw was about to bound away when he called her back. "Just make Mintfur a nest in the medicine den" Spottedpaw's tail drooped.
"Okay" She headed inside the medicine den, hooked her claws into some moss. She growled as she formed the nest.
"Having fun, Spottedpaw?" Spottedpaw spun around. Cinderheart had come to the rescue!
"I'll take over from here" she purred.
"Woo hoo" Spottedpaw yowled and bounded out.
"Spottedpaw, come here" Frustration spilled over her.
"What is it?" She snapped. "Can you show me where the Willow bark and poppy seeds are kept? I thought they would do Mintfur some good." Cinderheart meowed. Muttering under her breath, she showed her mother where they were kept. Free at last, Spottedpaw thought as she bounded out.
"Spottedpaw"
What's going to happen to poor Spottedpaw? Nobody knows! Mwahahaha.
