Sitting in the airport waiting for their delayed plane to be called Kai's mind was wandering far from present time. His mind was scanning the few years of his life he could remember. Much of his past was still a blur, hazy at best.

Trying to hide a jump at a sudden noise that broke through the comfortable silence that'd passed through the group Kai glanced from the corner of his eye, staring at Mr Dickinson who was fishing his phone from his pocket.

"Hello?" The old man asked, pressing the old phone to his ear. He nodded unconsciously to the voice.

"Who is it?" Tyson mouthed, trying to gain the elder's attention.

"Yes, he's right here." He handed the phone over to the bluenette, looking a mix of concerned and curious.

"Yes?" Kai asked, checking to ensure his voice held no trace of emotion.

"Mr Hiwatari, we've just entered your room to clean it. Do you care to explain why your mirror is smashed as your towel is bloodied?"

"Do you speak Russian?" Kai asked, gaining confused looks from everyone.

"Yes" he answered, confirming to Kai by the language switch.

"I had a mild relapse, it was only a small cut but I caught a blood vessel. It won't happen again and I'll pay for the repairs." He tried not to close his eyes from the shame he could feel radiating through him. Shame at relapsing before his rehabilitation had even started, and shame for admitting it.

"Never mind the costs, but I implore you, phone if you do this again. I need you to be well Kai"

"I understand, though I assure you, it shalln't happen again"

"Who're you talkin' to?" Tyson whispered, in Kai's other ear, gaining a harsh glare from the bluenette. Shrinking back in his seat Kai listened to the doctor drone on about his health. He didn't interrupt, feeling far too shamed to care.

"-Do I have your word?" He finally finished, giving the bluenette a moment to speak.

"Hn" was his response, trying to brush off the elder's words. Condescending as they were.

"Alright, goodbye Kai"

"Whatever" hanging up he handed the phone back across, keeping his eyes averted, he didn't need them questioning him. He didn't have his will back, he didn't feel he could hold out on them.

"Who was it?" Tyson asked for the third time.

"No one" he lied, folding his arms over his chest. Wincing mildly as his new, deep, cut rubbed against his armguards. The once soft material had lost its former smoothness, the blood it had absorbed making the inside rough and coarse. His raw flesh was caught in the inside, though he couldn't show his pain, his wounds had been bandaged or stitched. They couldn't see his pain, they'd become suspicious.

Mr Dickinson glanced at the boy from the corner of his eye, he was more than a little suspicious about the teen. Kai was one for privacy, but why request someone speak in a foreign language? He knew it was Kai's doctor, he'd spoken to the man. He knew he spoke English, so why were they speaking, what he could only guess was, Russian?

"Will all passengers of the flight from Tokyo-" the electronic woman's voice was drowned out by a large shout by an excited Tyson.

"Finally!" He cried, jumping from his seat, not bothering to listen to where to go, just running and hoping for the best. Once everyone could hear the speaker again the group pushed themselves to their feet.

"Come on boys, let's go." He forced a cheery voice, motioning the teens along, halting at Kai to stare the boy in the eye. "I still want your knife Kai" he whispered just quiet enough for the others not to hear.

"My answer won't change Dickinson. You're not getting it."

"Then I will never trust you."

"At least then then the feeling will be mutual" the bluenette retorted, following after the group of noisy children he called his teammates.

Sighing the elder pushed up his glasses.

"That boy is too stubborn for his own good." He muttered waddling after. One thought running through his head. 'This is going to be a long flight.'

The elder was hating his prediction. Just half an hour into the flight and he'd resorted to yelling at the navy haired teen. Seemed whatever guilt he had at one point evaporated as soon as the mere notion that food was coming left the air hostess' mouth. Said woman was now stood by Tyson's seat, trying to convince the boy that it wouldn't be hours before their food arrived.

But the boy seemed convinced it was a conspiracy; he accused her of hiding food. Ordinarily Kai would be the one chastising the gluttonous boy, but he seemed out of it. His mind seemed to be elsewhere. Where that was was unknown.

"Tyson, please, just be quiet" Mr Dickinson pleaded, resting his hand to his head. "Please Tyson"

"But Mr Dickinson" he tried, though he halted halfway though, unable to come up with a good enough excuse. "Fine"

"Thank you my boy"

"Alright Mr D." Though he wasn't pleased he would remain quiet, for now at least. After all, the woman had run off to collect his food.

As the oversized car pulled up outside Hiwatari manor the four Russian's vacated the car.

"If Kai isn't here tonight I'm having his bed" Tala stated immediately.

"Why?" The lilac haired teen asked completely confused.

"Cos, this is his house, he has to have the nicest room" they couldn't fault his reasoning and headed straight for the double doors. As Spencer was about to reach for the brass handle they swung in, an old man dressed in a black suit stood in the open space.

"Are you Master Kai's friends?"

"Yeah" Ian answered

"I'm Master Kai's longest serving servant. Whatever you wish I will provide." Grinning at the old man they entered the home, hiding their looks of shock.

Kai's house was huge.

The plane started its descent back to earth and none could hide their gratitude. The flight wasn't long, a few hours maybe, but the loud mouthed navy haired teen could make a walk feel like an eternity.

Kai had feigned sleep half way through the flight, an old tactic that had worked perfectly. Not even the elder had disrupted him. Reopening crimson eyes he pushed himself to his feet, walking straight from the plane, everyone parting ways for him.

His coldness was well known, even people who hadn't seen him on TV knew about him, and he'd never been so grateful for that. He had felt Mr Dickinson's eyes on him every few minutes during the flight, he was sure the fat old man had wanted to request his knife once more. He wasn't going to start another argument.

He knew he'd be having one as soon as he walked through his front door.

After collecting their bags they headed for the airport exit, Mr Dickinson informing them of a car he'd arranged to pick them up.

As usual, Kai walked behind the group, his duffel bag hung over his shoulder in forced casualness. His mind was racing, the closer they got to his house the closer his doom was. Soon, he'd be met with the closest thing to family he had. How would he face them? Could he tell them the truth? If not would they hate him?

There was so much running round and round in his muddled brain. He didn't know what to do.

All he did know was he'd have to face them. Hopefully he wouldn't run, and hopefully they'd help not berate him.

He was dreading the wait, but maybe it would turn out fine.

0000

Time was passing far too quickly for his liking. He's hoped, prayed, that the day would drag. That an hour would feel like a week and a week a year. But no, hours were seconds and they quicker they passed the quicker he'd have to face his friends.

Unsure as to whether they noticed his lack of awareness Kai kept his mouth shut. He was always a distant one, why bring them in now? One secret shared wasn't enough to build bridges between people who could never be friends.

They would be burned, and only those that survived the blaze would be worthy. The only so far had been his unofficial brothers. They survived and they shared all his pain and misery.

The car slowed, pulling up outside a huge manor. The teens behind him gaped, even the neko who had the most self-control couldn't stop his jaw from going slack.

"M-Mr Dickinson, I think we're lost." Tyson stuttered out, leaning over his friends to gain a better view of the gigantic building.

"No my boy we're not. This is Hiwatari manor, Kai's home" opening his door the elder climbed out, motioning the boys to leave too.

Pouring out one at a time the awe struck boys walked round, not taking their eyes from the towering mansion. Indicating that the driver could leave Mr Dickinson walked to the closed gates, pressing the buzzer to gain access.

"Hello?" The woman's voice asked.

"Uh, hello?" Mr Dickinson repeated, not understanding a word of Russian. Stepping forwards Kai moved the man from his path.

"Open up, my trip ended early." Kai commanded

"Master Kai, I apologise for the delay, I'll open the gates" the woman was clearly knew, the stutter in her voice tangible for all to hear.

A metallic beep filled the air, the gates swinging in quickly.

"Wow Kai, that was impressive." Tyson noted, walking in without the slightest hesitation. The others followed behind, leaving just him stood by the open gates.

"Yeah impressive" he murmured, lowering his head to the floor. Was it impressive? Or was it a mistake? He hoped the former, he did want help. He just didn't want to fail, just like he failed at everything else. He just hoped he was strong enough.

Taking a heavy breath he steeled himself, ready for anything his friends may say, and began the short walk towards his home.

I had one of my friends read this and they said I should end it here. What do you think? Should it end here or should I add a few more chapters? Please read review and tell me what you think.
