Kaname's p.o.v
Yuki stood in the doorway. My hand fell from Zero's mouth as he felt her presence. My eyes were resolutely on Yuki as she staggered into the room and gave no mind to anything else. Zero tried to stand up but my hand on his shoulder kept him in place. He was not rushing to her side without giving me his vows of obedience. I couldn't impose them on her but I could force them from him.
Yuki's eyes lingered but a moment on the kneeling man but then they stayed glued to me. "Kaname-sama why? You have me, I'm yours. Please just leave Zero alone."
I look into her eyes and there was a flicker of hesitation in me for a moment. Her broken voice almost broke my resolve. Almost. "You want to keep your best friend alive, don't you?"
Yuki nodded hesitantly and I nod in appreciation. She was learning her place after all. "Then you will stay out of this."
She stepped forward again. "Kaname-sama please-!"
"Yuki. Stop." All heads turn to Zero. "The pills aren't working. Kaname's the only one that can delay the transformation to Level E. He's...he's trying to help me." Zero says with as much conviction as he can manage. That was part of the story but not the whole of it. My reasons were more selfish than that. Not that Yuki would realize right away.
Yuki's brown orbs swiveled to me. "K-Kaname-sama?" Her tone was underlined with hope. Sometimes, it could be so easy having her eat out of my palm.
"He's not lying," I admit, "but there are some precautions that I need to take regardless."
There was hesitation in her eyes and I knew Yuki didn't trust me in the entirety. Sometimes she was too smart for her own good.
A smile formed on my face. "I honestly have good intentions," I say slighted. Did the girl have no good opinion of me?
Something like a snort came from her. "Like sending me here just to come and stalk me again? Our definitions of good intentions differ completely then, Kaname-sama." Yuki shot back at me.
I narrow my eyes and blood drained from her face. Her bouts of courage might be many but would be squished underneath my heel just as fast. I held eveyrthing she cared about in one hand, she had nothing. "I will not touch Zero because I want you safe. My enemies have caught wind of you and so I'll be keeping Zero's sanity in exchange for your safety." From him and from others.
Yuki stares at me as if uncertain of my actions. Which, while true, she shouldn't be. I always had her best intentions in mind. I merely...lost control at times. "I promise you Yuki." I purr. The effect of the binding was instant but the promise had been so carefully not worded that it would be simple to find wiggle room to escape it.
The change was instantaneous in her too. Yuki knew that to a vampire words were binding so there wasn't anything that she thought she had to worry about. She was too unlearned in our way to know that words could be twisted.
"Thank you Kaname-sama!"
"Anything for you Yuki-chan. Anything for you."
Yuki firmly on my side, it was time for me to deal with the second hurdle in my path. "Takuma."
The blond hair boy was our binder for our 'contract'. All the details that Yuki shouldn't have heard had been solidified before only Zero's promise of total obedience remained.
"Do you accept your duty of unwavering resolvve to protect Yuki and obey everyone of Kaname's orders?
Zero pinned his eyes on me with hatred and I looked down on him with glee. There was no way for him to leave this basement without that last seal. Not on his own two feet at least. "I accept."
The vows settled between us. It was done. I released his biddings and watch as Yuki rushes into his arms. Some jealousy burned in me but mostly I felt satisfied to have all the pieces dancing to my tune. Together, they were each other's bargaining chip.
Zero chuckled around of his armful of Yuki and said, "I need air too you know."
Yuki furrowed deeper into the man. "You were an asshole but I missed you." I gave Kiryuu the evil eye. No matter what he did she always went running back to him.
"It hasn't been gone that long. Besides I'm alive aren't I?"
Not for long you won't be.
Aido's p.o.v
Fury burned in me. I had been so close to eliminating both of my competition in one swift move. Kaname had nearly killed Zero and been spurned or killed by Yuki herself. Instead, he forgave the dog and charged him with her safety. All under the pretense of caring for her when he merely wanted to own her - break her.
And after today's revelations… If there was anything I could agree on with Zero it was that Kaname-sama would break Yuki and it would be irreparable. If only Kaname wasn't so obsessed with her, so selfish, she'd be swooning in my arms. She would be mine.
