Waiting for Superman
Chapter 14 When the Sun Goes Down
Morgan was walking outside as she looked at the sun setting knowing she should get to work soon. It really looked like was going to be a good night. But she was going to see Greg Sanders. She's been trying to avoid him the last two weeks. Was it because of her harnessed feelings for him? Or was it because she wants her relationship to be something more? If it did become something more they would be under lab violation for dating a co-worker from the same shift.
She looked at the plummet, pink and gold sunset in front of her. It was so beautiful and graceful. It was only air but she wishes she could touch the gold sky. It was night are so it was cold and fresh.
She counted the step that she took one by one, step by step. Twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six and was still walking. Twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty somehow I'm still counting. Morgan didn't understand it why count her steps? Was it because of her avoiding Greg? Why won't she just tell him of her feelings?
"Everything okay Morgan?" asked Sean Yeager a young CSI who was with the swing-shift
"Hey Sean, yeah everything's fine. Why do you ask?" replied Morgan
"Your face it looked confused. Plus people say that you're not really paying attention to work and that you're avoiding Greg Sanders." said Sean
"That obvious." replied Morgan
"Yeah people are concerned about you. Mostly Greg though he won't say why but the rest of the grave shift knows why." Said Sean
"Really, why?" wondered Morgan
"Unfortunately I don't know because I don't keep tabs on anyone on grave shift." said Sean
"You keep tabs on me." responded Morgan as she put her hands in her coat pockets
"Yeah well you're you." replied Sean
Morgan stopped in her tracks as she got taken aback by the response. Did Yeager like her? Like have an actual crush on her. The only people who say that line to some is if they have a thing for them. She looked at Sean there agape for the moment as he glimpsed at her.
She didn't know what to do because if Sean likes her then she's in a stump. So it would be Sean likes her, but she likes Greg and Greg is who knows where at the moment. Would she actually go out with Sean Yeager that's the question of the day now? If Sean did ask her out would she say yes or would it be a no?
She kept opening and closing her mouth not knowing what to do. Could there be some feelings there for Yeager at all? Sean kept looking at her wondering what was going on with her.
"I'm sorry Morgan that came out wrong. What I meant was I've spent most of my time with you over the rest of the grave shift. So I kind of know what's going on with you." said Sean
"Oh I see. Really?" responded Morgan sarcastically as this still was too much
Morgan then knew what to do. She set out at a run to get away from Sean, from everybody. This was something she never expected to happen. She found a spot by a tree as she slid down and put her hands to her face. Why does this have to happen to her? Why today of all days? Why can't she just have feelings for Greg? That peace that she had got interrupted by conflicting feelings for co-worker Greg Sanders and swing shift CSI Sean Yeager. It was like Sean put a mark on himself for her. Things were so confusing and tears were welling up in her eyes. She really likes Greg they kissed. That kiss made her fall in love with Greg. So why was Sean Yeager in the picture as well? Why was she even thinking of Sean at all?
She cocked her head up looking up at the sky right there seeing the sun still setting as it was becoming more plummet than before. It was becoming the night she thought it would become graceful, beautiful and serene. The type of night that will be great for her to go out for a crime scene.
She thought of Andrus Caldwell a guy who got murdered just two weeks ago. Unfortunately they never found the killer and it became an unsolved case hoping that one day it will be solved. She was mad that they couldn't find the killer and that whoever is, is now loose in the city and could kill again. It will be all on her because instead of following the evidence she was so up in her own life drama of avoiding Greg. Greg was her partner on that case and now he's trying to talk to her or trying to break through to her.
She wasn't sure how she even felt of the kiss. It was amazing and like heaven. But then there were her emotions that were telling her she shouldn't get tied into a relationship with a guy that she works with. She even told Greg once that she doesn't want to date anyone on the job. Though, he was trying to be nice to her that day as she was in Vegas again and away from Los Angeles her home for like fourteen or so years. How could she forget those great, amazing and sweet moments she's had with him? He was the most amazing guy ever how could she not forget that? But she doesn't want to tell Greg of her feelings towards him. It's just it was too complicated for her. That always seems to be her excuse it's too complicated.
Morgan moved her head and slightly moved her body in more of an upright position. She decided to keep watching the sun set in front of her and to stop thinking of everything to just clear her mind. If she did that then maybe she could start to feel better about herself and to stop thinking of what happened out there with Sean Yeager and think of the kiss she had with Greg Sanders two weeks ago. She had to clear it out of her mind and think of nothing just look up at the sky and let all those worries go away. Let the water wash them out to clear every thought she has ever had. To go let the wind blow around hushing and whispering without a sound. To let the birds, keep chirping and talking to each other without their own worries to bother. To go let the bushes and trees swirl with the wind and hit each other without concern. To go and let nature, run right through her and coarse her veins. She let it all out and cleared her mind of everything.
It went and washed through her and it was an amazing feeling, a feeling she never thought she ever had. She's getting rest and energy to go through her; it refilled her to get back up but decided against it to get more of that rest and energy. She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath and put her chin up to the sky. It got her rejuvenated knowing that everything in her life was going to be alright and that she shouldn't worry so much.
She opened her eyes again as she saw that the sunset disappeared and in its place was a navy blue sky and dim stars. Now it really looked like night, a night that Las Vegas would have. That night, which she had gotten used to over the past couple years since she first got here and asked her father for the job on the night shift. She knows she didn't get the job because of nepotism she got it because of her credentials that she has and her resume which looked really good according to her father.
She got up from where she was sitting and sighed. She looked around and knew that she must have been there for nearly an hour or two. She stepped out and started on walking towards the crime lab where she was going to work and run straight into everyone as they are seriously worried about her. But she doesn't want to go through that, she just wants to get through her shift and go home again. It definitely wasn't time yet to talk to Greg of what happened but maybe just maybe in time.
