Hi! I'm just... sorry. I know that you guys will probably get bored with my speech on how terrible I am, so I'm just going to start the story now... I don't own Doctor Who or any of the lines from the Evolution of the Daleks.
Rose, Martha, Frank and Tallulah were in the elevator. Rose was tapping her foot impatiently.
Martha sighed and leaned back. "I always wanted to go to the Empire State. Never imagined it quite like this, though." she said. Rose looked at her and smiled.
"Yeah, same here. Sometimes me and the Doctor just go places and act like tourists. We get dressed like humans and blurt out weird facts and everyone would look at us like we were mad." she said, her smile faltering. No one said anything for a while, leaving an awkward silence.
"Um... Where are we headed anyway?" Frank said, breaking the silence.
"The top, where they're still building." Martha said, still looking at her friend with concern written in her eyes.
"How come those guys just let us through? How's that thing work?" Tallulah asked. The question seemed to get Rose out of her state.
"The psychic paper that the Doctor gave me. It tells them exactly what I want it them to think. You see, it's psychic, and so it goes into the mind of the person who's holding it, as well as the person who is reading it. Well, it doesn't have to be a person. It works on aliens also. According to the psychic paper, we're three engineers and an architect." she explained. Everyone nodded and then waited in silence for the elevator to stop.
Back in the laboratory, Sec was trying to explain to the Doctor his reasoning.
"Your knowledge of genetic engineering is even greater than ours. The new race must be ready by the time the solar flare erupts." he said.
"But you're the template. I thought they were getting a dose of you." the Doctor said, not understanding.
"I want to change the gene sequence." Sec said. The Doctor raised his eyebrows.
"Ah... To make them even more human?" he asked, half asking, half stating.
"Humans are the great survivors." he said. "We need that ability."
The Doctor shook his head. "Hold on a minute. There's no way this lot are going to let you do it." he said.
"I am their leader." Sec replied, as if it was obvious.
"Oh..." the Doctor said. "And that's enough for you, is it?"
A Dalek spoke up. "Daleks must follow orders."
"Dalek Sec commands, we obey." another one said.
"If you don't help me, nothing will change," Sec said.
"There's no room on Earth for another race of people." the Doctor argued.
"You have your TARDIS," Sec said. "Take us across the stars. Find us a new home and allow the new Daleks to start again."
The Doctor sighed and scratched the back of his neck. Sec was a great negotiator, and it was hard to believe that this creature was his greatest enemy. That this creature was one of the people that separated Rose from all of her family. That this creature killed millions of people. But still, he's offering to make a whole entire race. He could make the Daleks into creatures that were more human. Create a whole new species that could set the Daleks right.
"When's that solar flare?" the Doctor asked, finally making his decision.
"Eleven minutes."
"Right then." he said. "Better get to work."
Back with the others, they finally made it to the top, with everyone trying to find answers, except for Tallulah, who was looking at the view.
"Look at this place," she said. "Top of the world."
Rose and Martha got straight to work and walked over to a drawing board – on it were all of the blueprints.
"Alright. This looks about right. Doesn't it Martha?" Rose said. The young soon-to-be doctor nodded.
"Yeah, just about." she said.
"Hey, look at the date." Frank said, looking at them from over Rose's shoulder. "These designs were issued today. They must've changed something last minute."
"Brilliant, Frank! So the Daleks changed something. We need to find out what they changed." Rose said, smiling as the truth was beginning to show.
Martha looked through them. "The ones underneath, they're from before. That means that whatever they changed must be on the top sheet, but not on this one. We need to check one against the other."
Tallulah was still looking at the view, and not really helping with their situation at all. "The height of this place! This is amazing." she said, as if she was just sight-seeing.
Rose rolled her eyes. "Careful, Tallulah. We're about a hundred floors up. First rule if you want to work with me and the Doctor: Don't wander off." she said.
"I just want to see." she said. Then she walked out and looked at the huge city. "New York City. If aliens had to come to Earth, oh, no wonder they came here."
In the laboratory, the Doctor was working to make more human-Daleks.
"There's no point in chromosomal grafting, it's too erratic. You need to split the genome and force the Dalek human sequence right into the cortex." he said.
"We need mor chromatin solution." Dalek Sec said to the Daleks.
"The pig slaves have it," said the Dalek that Sec was mainly talking to.
The pig slaves entered the room, carrying a big box. The Doctor spotted Laszlo in the crowd. Seeing him, he frowned when he thought about something that had been nagging him in the back of his mind.
"These pig slaves; what happens to them in the grand plan?" he asked Sec.
"Nothing. They're just simple beasts. Their lifespan in limited. None survive beyond a few weeks." he answered. Then he turned back to the work. "Power up the line feeds."
The Doctor turned to Laszlo. "Laszlo, I can't undo what they've done to you, but they won't do it to anyone else." he said quietly, so that no one would hear them.
"Do you trust him?" the half-pig slave asked. The Doctor sighed.
"I know that one man can change the course of history. Right idea in the right place at the right time, it's all it takes. I've got to believe it's possible."
Rose looked at all of the blueprints that were now all spread out on the floor. Tallulah entered the room again after seeing that a storm was coming their way.
"I'll go and keep an eye out." Frank said. "Make sure we're safe up here. Don't want nobody butting in." Rose and Martha smiled and nodded before getting back to their work, looking at all of the prints.
"There's a hell of a storm moving in." Tallulah said to them, looking out at the sky again.
"I wish that the Doctor was here." Rose said, shaking her head. "He'd know exactly what to do..."
"So tell me," the show girl said, sitting down. "Where did you and him first hook up?"
Rose blushed, but told her. "He sort of blew up my job." she said, still skimming through the papers.
"How did that happen?!" she asked, a little alarmed.
"Well, this thing called living plastic, that's what happened." Rose said, thinking back on the day. "You know the first thing he ever said to me?"
Both girls shook their heads.
"Run."
Now she was really smiling as she remembered the old Doctor and all of the adventures they had. Of course, then she remembered this Doctor. She liked to think of him as her Doctor, because he died for her, although she would never tell anyone. It was just something that she liked to think.
"But he's not here now. I mean, of course he'll think his way out of everything, like usual, but... I'm still afraid for him. He's... different, and that difference just happens to protect him a lot, but if something does happen, then I might lose him." Rose said, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill from her eyes.
"Well, listen, sweetheart. You want to get all sad? You want to have a contest with me and Laszlo?" Talullah asked, smiling lightly and obviously trying to make Rose feel better. Rose smiled at her weakly.
"No thanks. But you should know that if the Doctor's with Laszlo, then it's very likely that he could get him out. The Doctor can save him." she said.
"And then what?" Tallulah asked. "Don't talk crazy. There's no future for me and him. Those Dalek things took that away. The one good think I had in my life and they destroyed it."
"The line feeds are ready." a Dalek said.
"Then it's all systems go," the Doctor said, racing around and doing all of the finishing touches.
"The solar flare is imminent. The radiation will reach Earth in a matter of minutes." Sec told the Doctor.
"We'll be ready for it," he said, pouring chemicals and finishing everthing. "That compound will allow the gene bonds to reconfigure in a brand new pattern. Power up!"
A pig slave threw a set of breakers and Laszlo threw the other one.
"Start the line feeds." Sec said.
The solution went through the tubes and went in the bodies hanging above them. The Doctor looked up at his work, satisfied.
"There goes the gene solution." he said.
"The life blood."
"Gotcha! Look. There, on the mast. Those little lines? They're new. They've added something, see?" Martha said, showing the other two.
"Great. Brilliant job, Martha!" Rose said, smiling at her friend, while Tallulah asked, "Added what?" They all chuckled, but worked it would in their minds.
"Dalekanium!" they shouted together, glad that they had finally found it.
An alarm sounded in the lab. The Doctor frowned.
"What's that?" he asked.
"What's happening? Is there a malfunction?" Sec asked. There was no response. "Answer me!"
"No, no, no. The gene feed! They're overriding the gene feed!" the Doctor shouted, running his hand through his hair.
"Impossible. They cannot disobey orders." Sec said.
"The Doctor will step away from the controls." a Dalek said, pointing it's shooting device at him.
"Stop! You will not fire!" Sec demanded, while the Doctor just froze and looked at the Dalek that was threatening him..
"He is an enemy of the Daleks." another one said.
"And so are you." the original one said.
Then, all of the Daleks pointed their guns at their hybrid. He seemed to still be confused by the situation. The Doctor quickly came to the conclusion that no Dalek had ever disobeyed his orders before now.
"I am your commander. I am Dalek Sec."
"You have lost your authority." it said.
"You are no longer a Dalek,"
"What have you done with the gene feed?" the Doctor asked, just wanting some answers so that he could fix this.
"The new bodies will be one hundred percent Dalek."
"No." Sec said. "You can't do this!"
"Pig slaves, restrain Dalek Sec and the Doctor."
The pig-human hybrids quickly obliged, and the Doctor was pleased to know that Laszlo was one of the slaves that grabbed him. He can still get out of the mess.
"Release me. I created you. I am your master." Sec said, fighting against the slaves, while the Doctor remained semi-calm.
Then, another alarm went off. At the same moment, the lift began coming down.
"Solar flare approaching." a Dalek said.
"Prepare to intercept."
"There's the lift." Laszlo said quietly to the Doctor.
"After you."
With that, the two ran away, the Doctor using his sonic to open the doors to the lift.
"The Doctor is escaping. Stop him! Stop him!" a Dalek said, making the pig slaves go to the lift, but right before they were there, the door closed.
Laszlo was breathing heavily, doubled over. The Doctor didn't seem to notice, as he was going over his plan to save the universe, yet again.
"We've only got minutes before the gamma radiation reaches the Earth. We need to get to the top of the building." he said. Then he finally noticed. "Laszlo, what's wrong?"
"Out of breath." Laszlo said, beginning to recover. "It's nothing. We've escaped them, Doctor. That's all that matters."
Rose and Martha were brainstorming together a plan on what they could do with the whole Dalekanium thing when they heard the lift. Before it even opened, Rose was already at the door.
"Doctor!" she said, hugging him tightly.
Tallulah and Laszlo hugged also, one or two tears on the show girl's part.
"I never thought I'd see you again." Tallulah said.
"No stopping me."
Martha walked over to Rose and the Doctor and cleared her throat, smiling at the two.
"Sorry to interrupt, but we've worked it out. WE know what they've done. There's Dalekanium on the mast. And it's good to see you too, by the way."
The Doctor smiled. "Oh, come here." He hugged Martha. As he was, the lift doors closed.
"No, no, no. See, never wast time with a hug." he said, mainly to himself, but Rose was next to him and heard it, so she elbowed him.
"Rude."
Ignoring her comment as best he could, he sighed. "Deadlock seal. I can't stop it." he continued.
"Where's it going, then?" Rose asked.
"Right down to the Daleks. And they're not going to leave us alone up here." the Doctor said. He turned on his Oncoming Storm look. "What's the time?"
"Er, eleven fifteen." Frank said.
"Six minutes to go. "I've got to remove the Dalekanium before the gamma radiation hits." the Doctor said.
"Gammon radiation? What the heck is that?" Tallulah asked, not even hearing what he said correctly, let alone understanding what he meant.
Without really listening to her, the Doctor and Rose ran out to the open area where Tallulah was standing earlier, with everyone trailing behind them.
"Oh, that's high." the Doctor said, looking down with wide eyes. "That's very. Blimey, that's high."
"Never knew you were afraid of heights, Doctor!" Rose said, smirking at him "But we've also got to get higher than this. The mass is up there. There are three pieces of Dalekanium up there and we have to get 'em off."
They both looked at the ladder that was coming down from the mast.
"Rose, I'm sorry. But that's not we, it's just me." he said.
"Doctor, I can't just sit around and watch you!" she said.
"Rose, you're going to have to help everyone anyway. You're going to have your hands full. Rose, Martha, I'm sorry. I really am, but you've got to fight." he said. Rose sighed, but nodded.
"Fine. But I better see you come back in one piece." she said, tightening his tie. "And don't drop your sonic screwdriver from up there, either."
"Don't worry about me." he said, smiling at her, before turning and climbing up the ladder.
"Like that's gonna happen..." Rose said quietly to herself, but she still turned and went to help the others.
"The lift's coming up." Martha said.
"Right, so we have to find something that will protect us long enough for the Doctor to take off Dalekanium." Rose said.
"I should have brought that gun," Frank said.
"Tallulah, stay back. You too, Rose, Martha. If they send pig slaves, they're trained to kill." Laszlo said, trying to protect them.
"No. I'm not going to stay back! The Doctor told me that I have to fight, and so does Martha. We're just as capable as you." Rose said.
"Yeah, I'm not going anywhere!" Martha said.
"They're savages. I should know. They're trained to slit your throat with their bare teeth." he warned. However, when he tried to lift his weapon, he fell.
"Laszlo? What is it?" Tallulah asked, crouching next to him.
"No, it's nothing. I'm fine. Just leave me." he said. But of course, Tallulah wouldn't have it. She felt his forehead.
"Oh, honey, you're burning up. What's wrong with you? Tell me." she said.
"Great. One man down, we ain't even started yet." Frank said.
"It's not looking good, Frank." Martha agreed.
"Hey, just wait a bit. You guys sure aren't very nice to be around, are ya? Where's your hope?" Rose asked, frowning at her friends. She knew exactly what was going to happen, but she felt the TARDIS telling her not to give any spoilers. It was going to happen any second now...
At that moment, they heard thunder go off, over the city. Martha looked as if she found the answer to everything in the world.
"Now she figures it out," Rose said, turning her frown into a smile.
"Wait a minute. Lightening." she said.
Up with the Doctor, he go the first panel of Dalekanium off the mast, with much impatience on his part.
"Aw, you'll be all right, sweetheart. Don't you worry." Tallulah said, still trying to comfort Laszlo. " What the hell are you clowns doing?"
"Even if the Doctor stops the Dalekanium, this place is still going to get hit. Great big bolt of lightening, electricity all down this building. Connect this to the lift and they get zapped." Martha explained.
"Oh my God, that could work." Tallulah said, surprised that they actually came up with a well-thought-out plan.
"It will work." Rose corrected, smiling at her. "Give us a hand, then, yeah?"
Soon enough, they got all of the scaffolding ready and lined up, so that it was touching the lift.
"Is that going to work?" Tallulah asked, still unsure. Rose nodded.
"Yep, I can see it." she answered.
1
"I've got it all piped up to the scaffolding outside." Frank said.
"Come here, Frank." Martha said, waving towards where her, Laszlo, Tallulah and Rose were already sitting. "Just sit in the middle and don't touch anything metal."
"Wait." Rose said. Then she looked at Martha. "First, are you wearing anything metal?" she asked. They wouldn't want any accidents to happen.
"No, I'm not. You?" she asked.
"No, alright. We're ready then." she said, smiling at everyone. This is the best part.
Finally, the lift reached it's destination, but before the pig slaves could harm anyone, the lightening went through and all of them died.
"You did it!" Tallulah said.
"They used to be like Laszlo. They were people, and I killed them." Martha said, trembling a little. Rose comforted her friend the best she could.
"No, the Daleks killed them. Long ago." Laszlo said.
"It's alright, Martha. They would have killed us if we didn't do it this way." Rose said.
"But... What about the Doctor?" she asked. With that, both girls ran up the ladder and saw him unconscious. Along the way up, Martha found his sonic.
"Doctor!" Rose said, rushing to his side.
"Doctor, look what we found halfway down." Martha said, showing him his sonic screwdriver.
"And I even told you not to drop it." Rose said, shaking her head, but smiling at the Doctor.
"Oh my head." he said, squinting up at them.
"Hello!" she said, smiling at him.
"Hi. You survived, then." he said, looking back and forth at Rose and Martha.
"Of course we did." Rose said.
"So did you, just about." Martha said, also smiling now.
"Um... Doctor, Dalekanium is still attached." Rose said, looking at the panel nervously.
Once the Doctor recovered, they went back down the ladder.
"The Daleks will have gone straight to a war footing. They'll be using the sewers, spreading the soldiers out underneath Manhattan." the Doctor said.
"How do we stop them?" Laszlo asked. The Doctor sighed and ran his hand through his hair.
"There's only one chance. I got in the way. That gamma strike went zapping through me first." he said. Rose gasped.
"Oh, my God." she said, smiling at the brilliant plan that her Doctor made when there was no other choice.
"What does that mean?" Martha asked, still not understanding.
"We need to draw fire. Before they can attack New York, I need to face them. Where can I draw them out?" he asked, now pretty much talking to himself. "Think, think, think, think, think! We need some sort of space. Somewhere safe. Somewhere out of the way. Tallulah!"
"That's me! Three Ls and an H." she said, giving him his full attention.
"The theatre! It's right above them, and, what, it's gone midnight? Can you get us inside?" he asked.
"Don't see why not." she said.
"Brilliant!" Rose said, getting excited again.
"Yes, brilliant!" the Doctor said, smiling at her. Then he turned so he was facing everyone. "Is there another lift?"
"We came up in the service elevator." Martha tried.
"That'll do. Allons-y!"
They rushed to the theatre. When they got there, the Doctor smiled.
"This should do it. Here we go." he said.
"There ain't nothing more creepy than a theatre in the dark. Listen, Doctor, I know you got a thing for show tunes, but there's a time and place, huh?" Tallulah said, still not getting the big picture.
Laszlo sat down, clearly out of breath. Tallulah's concern was immediately turned to him.
"Laszlo, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. It's just so hot." he said. Tallulah shook her head, a bit hysterical now.
"But it's freezing here." she said. "Doctor, what's happening to him?"
"Not now, Tallulah. Sorry." he said.
Rose sighed and turned to the distressed girl. "Don't worry, Tallulah. It will be alright." she said. Then she turned to the Doctor. "What exactly is it that you're doing, Doctor?"
"If the Daleks are going to war, they'll want to find their number one enemy. I'm just telling them where I am." he said.
"NO!" Rose yelled, but it was too late. The Doctor held up his sonic screwdriver and it began to beep.
"I'm telling you to go. Frank can take you back to Hooverville."
"Doctor, I am telling you that I will not leave this spot." Rose said, raising her eyebrows at him. Martha nodded.
"Yeah, Doctor. I'm not going either.
"That is an order." he said, just making Rose glare at him go harder.
"Who are you, then? Some so-" Martha began, but Rose stopped her.
"Don't say that, Martha." she snapped.
Before anyone could say anything, the doors of the theatre broke down and people began to march in from both sides, surrounding them.
"Doctor!" Tallulah exclaimed. "Oh, my God! Well, I guess that's them then, huh?"
"Humans with Dalek DNA, yeah?" Rose said, backing up and taking the Doctor's hand in hers and weaving their fingers.
"It's all right, it's all right. Just stay calm. Don' antagonize them." the Doctor said.
"But what of the Dalek masters?" Laszlo asked. "Where are they?"
Rose sighed. This is not good. At all. Unless even a small bit of the Doctor's DNA was in them, then they were doomed. And then she would have to break the promise. The promise she made to the Doctor. About the Bad Wolf.
Out of no where, an explosion happened on the stage and the two Daleks appeared, along with a chained-up Sec who was crawling on his hands and knees.
"The Doctor will stand before the Daleks." one of them said.
The Doctor obliged and let go of Rose's hand. He climbed on top of one of the seats.
"You will die, Doctor. It is the beginning on a new age." it said.
"Planet Earth will become New Skaro." the other said.
Rose scoffed. So original...
"Oh, and what a world." the Doctor said, ignoring Rose's reaction. "With anything just the slightest bit different ground into the dirt. That's Dalek Sec. Don't you remember? The cleverest Dalek ever, and look what you've done to him. Is that your new Empire, hmm? Is that the foundation for a whole new civilization?"
Dalek Sec sighed. "My Daleks, just understand this. If you choose death and destruction, then death and destruction will choose you." he said sadly.
The Daleks didn't seem believe him.
"Incorrect. We will always survive."
"Now we will destroy our greatest enemy, the Doctor."
"But he can help you." Sec said, trying to get them to understand.
"The Doctor must die."
Rose watched them, her eyes wide in horror. She knew that everything would most-likely be alright for him, but all of the possibilities were not good.
"No, I beg you, don't!" Sec said.
"Exterminate!" the Dalek said.
Before it could hit the Doctor, Sec jumped in from of him and died. Rose and Martha gasped in surprise.
"Oh, my God." Rose said, shaking her head.
"Your own leader. The only creature who might have led you out of the darkness and you destroyed him. Do you see what they did? Huh? You see what a Dalek really is?" the Doctor said, glaring at it.
Rose shook her head. How could they do this without feeling anything? It's terrible.
"If I'm going to die, let's give the new boys a shot. What do you think, eh? The Dalek humans. Their first blood. Go on, baptize them." the Doctor said.
"Dalek humans, take aim." the Dalek said. They all listened.
"Wait," Rose said. She took a deep breath. "Don't you also want to take me? The Bad Wolf. The single being that killed thousands upon thousands of your kind?"
"Rose." the Doctor said in warning.
"No, Doctor. If you're dying, I'll die with you." she said. "I refuse to let you die alone."
The Doctor sighed. "Fine."
"Bad Wolf." the Dalek said. "Stand next to the Doctor. We will kill the enemies of the Daleks."
Rose stood next to the Doctor and weaved their fingers together.
Nothing happened.
"What are you waiting for? Give the command!" the Doctor yelled.
"Exterminate!" the Dalek said. The Doctor and Rose tensed up for a second, but the blast didn't come.
"Exterminate!" the other Dalek said.
"Obey. Dalek humans will obey." the first Dalek said.
"They're not firing." Martha said, surprised. Rose smiled when she realized the path they took. "What have you done?"
"You will obey. Exterminate!" it ordered.
"Why?" one of the human Daleks asked. Rose's smile widened and she squeezed the Doctor's hand.
"Daleks do not question orders," the other said, not seeming to understand what was happening.
"But... why?" he asked.
"You will stop this." it said.
"But why?" he pressed.
"You must not question."
"But you are not our master. And we, we are not Daleks." he said, frowning.
"No, you're not." the Doctor said, now his smile was as wide as Rose's. "And you never will be. Sorry, I got in the way of the lightning strike. Time Lord DNA got all mixed up. Just that little bit of freedom."
"Brilliant." Rose said. However, what happened next seemed to turn her smiled upside-down.
"If they will not obey, then they must die." it said. The Dalek shot the hybrid that questioned them.
"Get down!" the Doctor yelled.
The small group got down, under the seats for cover. The Daleks and human-Daleks fired at each other.
Finally, one of the Daleks is destroyed and right before the other one was going to 'Exterminate' something, it's head blew off as well.
The group stood up.
"It's all right, it's all right, it's all right. You did it. You're free." the Doctor said to the hybrids.
Out of nowhere, all of the mutants held their heads in their hands and shrunk to the floor, dying.
"No! They can't! They can't! They can't!" the Doctor yelled. Rose closed her eyes and hid her head in the Doctor's shoulder.
"What happened? What was that?!" Martha asked.
"They killed 'em. Just killed 'em. The whole species they created." Rose said.
"Genocide." the Doctor said, frowning and shaking his head, while his hand traced Galifreyan symbols on Rose's back.
"Only two of the Daleks have been destroyed." Laszlo observed. "One of the Dalek masters must still be alive."
"Oh, yes. In the whole universe, just one." the Doctor said.
The group went to the laboratory again, where they were positive they would see the last Dalek.
"Now what?" the Doctor asked the Dalek once they got there.
"You will be exterminated!" it said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just think about it, Dalek what was your name?" the Doctor asked.
"Dalek Caan." it said.
"Dalek Caan." Rose repeated, trying to remember the name for future references.
"Your entire species has been wiped out." the Doctor said. "And now the Cult of Skaro has been eradicated, leaving only you. Right now, you're facing the only man in the universe who might show you some compassion. Because I've just seen one genocide. I won't cause another. Caan, let me help you. What do you say?"
The Dalek stood there for a minute, building up the suspense before saying, "Emergency temporal shift!"
With that, the Dalek disappeared. Rose gaped at the empty space in front of her.
Laszlo fell to the ground, wheezing, gaining the attention of Martha and Tallulah.
"Doctor! Rose! He's sick." Martha said. She turned back to him. "It's okay. You're all right." She turned back to them. "It's his heart. It's racing like mad. I've never seen anything like it!"
"What is it, Doctor?" Tallulah asked. "What's the matter with him? He says he can't breathe! What is it?!"
Rose sighed and looked at the couple. Tallulah reminded her so much of her mother.
"It's time, sweetheart." Laszlo said sadly.
"What do you mean, time?" she asked. "What are you talking about?"
"None of the slaves survive for long. Most of them only live for a few weeks." Laszlo explained. "I was lucky. I held on because I had you. But now, I'm dying, Tallulah."
"No, you're not. Not now, after all this. Doctor, can't you do something?" Tallulah asked, looking destressed.
"Oh, Tallulah with three Ls and an H, just you watch me." he said, already running for the supplies. "What do I need? Oh, I don't know. How about a great big genetic laboratory? Oh look, I've got one! Laszlo, just you hold on. There's been too many deaths today."
Rose beamed at him and he smiled back and winked.
"Way too many people have died. Brand new creatures and wise old men and age old enemies. And I'm telling you, I'm telling you right now, I am not having one more death! You got that? Not one. Tallulah, out of the way. The Doctor is in."
After the Doctor finished, they all walked in Central Park.
"Well, I talked to them, and I told them what Solomon would've said, and I reckon I shamed one or two of them." Frank said.
"And what did they say?" Rose asked.
"They said yes. They'll give you a home, Laszlo. I mean, er, don't imagine people ain't going to stare. I can't promise you'll be at peace but, in the end, that is what Hooverville is for. People who ain't got nowhere else." Frank said, smiling at them.
"Thank you. I can't thank you enough." Laszlo said.
The Doctor, Rose and Martha eventually got back to the island with the TARDIS.
"Do you reckon it's going to work, those two?" Martha asked.
"I don't know. Anywhere else in the universe, I might worry about them, but New York? That's what this city's good at. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, and maybe the odd pig slave Dalek mutant hybrid too." the Doctor said. Rose laughed and linked arms with him.
"Well, if they really love each other, it will work." Rose said, smiling at her.
"The pig and the showgirl." Martha said.
"The pig and the showgirl." the Doctor and Rose said together.
"It just proves it, I suppose. There's someone for everyone." Martha said, sighing.
"Maybe." the Doctor said.
"Maybe." Rose said after him, smiling.
"Meant to say, I'm sorry." Martha said.
"What are you sorry for?" Rose asked, frowning.
"Just because that Dalek got away. I know what that means to you two. Think you'll ever see it again?" she asked.
