Chapter 14: Megatron wakes up
As great as it had been to have Breakdown's old friends around, and as much as she had come to know them, the whole team had all been transferred out to oversee different Decepticon activities across the planet. They told her they would be around, just not for a while, which did give her comfort; she'd taken to them all, as strange as they were.
And the activities at the party appeared to have made her a bit of a star of the Nemesis; there wasn't a single drone or solider on the ship who had not heard at least a recording of Scrap's singing, and now, everyone appeared to smile at her softly, having seen that, even though she was human, she had a gift of her own. She'd often be caught by others and asked to sing for them.
Taken aback by her newfound fame, Scrap had taken to singing in her spare time, practicing whenever she had chance. Most of the time, she when she was alone.
Alone, pardon the big unconscious leader of the Decepticons as he lay on the table beside her.
For weeks now, nothing had changed on the lord pardon his wound was now all but healed. He was still lost in limbo, but at least when he decided to wake up, he would be more or less fit and healthy. They had even taken him off the life support.
So, having checked on the wound, she increased the energon infusion by two knocks, hoping to bring the lord around. There was no sign, so Scrap turned to the communicator on her wrist and started her music player, keeping it low and soft, skipping to find a good song.
"Only hope." She mumbled to herself and pressed play, scrubbing out the original artist to an instrumental version.
"There's a song that's inside of my soul." She sang softly, eyes closed as she did.
"It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again.
I'm awake in the infinite cold.
But you sing to me over and over and over again."
The tone increased, and Scrap lifted her head in a smile.
"So I lay my head back down,
And I lift my hands and pray to be only yours,
I pray to be only yours,
I know now you're my only hope."
Obliviously, she carried on singing, perfect in pitch and tone to the song.

Lord Megatron's stood in the middle of his home battle ground, Kaon, crushing the Autobots single handed and laughing as he did it. This was so easy! They just kept coming, ready for the slaughter. He stood in his grey dull armour, energon covering him as he fired on each form as they approached, hitting everyone who came towards him and disintegrating them in a single strike.
Then, in the heat of the war, the blue Autobot that was charging towards him slowly stopped running and stood, blankly looking up to the sky. Megatron frowned, thinking it was just a fool, giving up and raised his cannon towards him when he heard what the Autobot had.
"Music?" He questioned, looking up for the source. The sky was a rusty red and burnt orange colour, the smoke of battle creating clouds around them.
Yet now, it faded and the sky cleared to reveal a night sky he had not seen since before the war. It was beautiful, the stars shining down on his optics, calling to him. As if he wanted to be out there, to go to the stars.
Then the music changed, becoming a little faster than the soft unknown instrument before and something joined it.
"Sing to me the song… of the stars.
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again."
A galaxy? Dancing? Megatron thought, looking around to see that his battle was over, and he was alone in an empty, peaceful looking Kaon.
"When it feels like my dreams are so far.
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again."
The words caught him and his optics closed. Dream? Is this… a dream? What are my plans? Why am I here?
"So I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray to be only yours,
I pray to be only yours,
I know now you're… my only hope."
Megatron nodded. Hope… yes… I am your hope. But who are you? Tell me who you are!
The song replied; "I give you my destiny. I'm giving you all of me. I want your symphony, singing in all that I am. At the top of my lungs… I'm giving it back."
The voice called louder to him, calling to him in the darkness, calling him to the stars. He let it carry him up from Kaon, leaving his dream and entering a void of blackness, but the voice led his way.
"So I lay my head back down!
And I lift my hands and pray to be only yours,
I pray to be only yours,
I pray to be only yours,
I know now you're my… only… hope."
His optics opened suddenly, and a long painless breath escaped his chest. He quickly looked over the room where he was, noting he was on his back and clearly hurt, but all he wanted was the find the source of the sound.
Head turning left and right, he soon saw what he was looking for; a female stood with her back to him, her head held high, and her body swaying from side to side while she softly hummed to the last bars of the tune.
Silence fell and she let out a deep breath, turning to her communicator. "I have got to do that one next time." She mumbled, still thinking she was alone as she flicked over the songs. "Oh, I really should practice this one. The others do seem to like it."
On the berth, Megatron kept perfectly still as music began once again, and the femme began singing after a small into.
"Every night in my dreams,
I see you, I feel you.
That is how I know you go on."
His optics locked on her back, he saw at once when she began to turn, and Megatron snapped his off, faking unconsciousness to listen. Whoever this femme was, she had a very beautiful singing voice. Even better when she turned to face him.
"Far across the distance,
And spaces between us,
You have come to show you… go on."
He could feel her now, checking on his condition, not one note dropped or skipped.
"Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go onnnnnn.
Once, more you open the door
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart willlll go on and on."
The war lord almost wanted to frown. 'Heart'? Hearts are for human. So this is a human song. The war lord reasoned, keeping perfectly still to listen.
Her joy was now in her voice, and he could imagine her smiling.
"Love can touch us one time,
And last for a lifetime,
And never let go till we're gone.
Love was when I loved you,
One true time… I hold to.
In my life… we'll always go on."
Her hand brushed on his chest, and Megatron had to supress a shiver, but the singer didn't seem to notice, carrying on with her song.
"Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on."
She sighed deeply, and the music played alone but then grew a little faster and louder.
When she sang next, her voice was much bolder, nearly screaming the words out. He peaked at her and saw she had her optics closed, hands clutching her spark with the words.
"You're here! There's nothing I fear!
And I know that my heart will go on!
We'll… stay… forever this way!
You are safe in my heart!
And my heart will go onnn and onnnnnnnn!"
The last note rang loud and clear, and the music continued alone.
The femme just stood still, optics closed and hand on her chest, as if amazed by her skill herself but then, as the next song started, she looked down and stopped the music. "I still can't hit that note." She scolded herself and opened her eyes.
Megatron didn't have time to fake his situation before they turned on him, and they were locked, optic to optic.
The femme swallowed suddenly, caught in the act, and her face swiftly turned a bright red colour.
Not one to give the impression of uncertainly, Megatron frowned on her. "Who are you?" He said very clearly and saw her flinch at his tone.
The little thing stepped backwards until she was pressed up on the wall, staring blindly at him, as if unsure what to do. Megatron felt confused, even if he never showed it. Has she never met him? All Decepticons had to be introduced to him at least once, so he knew them. But this girl rang no memory. And he would remember those optics. He'd felt captivated by them, such an unusual colour.
He sat up, pulling a drip from his arm and looked at her closer. "Well?" He said again. "Who are you?"
Her mouth opened to speak, but no words came out then.
His confusion was soon turning to anger and growled, forcing himself past the pain to his feet but then toppling over from a weakness in his legs. Amazingly, he didn't hit the ground and looked to see the femme up close, staring at him with concern.
She blinked those strange green optics and nodded. "You shouldn't be moving around yet." She said, helping him back to the bench. "You've been in stasis a long time, and it will take time for your body to readjust."
The warlord frowned. "You are a medic?"
"Nurse." She confirmed. "If you would prefer to be seen by a doctor…."
"No." He cut her off. "I would not have my medic seeing me in such a state. You shall tend to me until I am back to full health."
The femme nodded. "Very well. I'll do my best." Without another word, she set to work, checking on everything from his mental capacity to physical being. From what Knockout and Starscream had told her about him, Scrap had expected the lord to be a raging blood thirsty monster. But he sat and did as asked completely perfectly, not once objecting or arguing to her requests.
Half an hour later and Scrap was finished, looking down at a data pad. "You're in very good condition. The wound has healed perfectly and your mental capacity appears to be lacking only very short term memories. It's natural with the kind of trauma you under took in the attack. All things considering, your recovery is incredible, but I'd like to recommend that you avoid anything strenuous for at least a day, just to give your body time to get use to movement once again. Several months of stasis will have taken its toll on your legs in particular." She sighed and nodded.
Lord Megatron looked over at her as he got himself dressed. "You are very diligent in your work, Nurse. But I do not know your name."
The femme swallowed. "Umm… my name is… Eleanor."
"Eleanor?" He stepped over to her and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. "That is not a Cybertronian name."
His grip wasn't very hard, and she wasn't exactly scared, just intrigued. "I'm not Cybertronian. I'm human."
She felt him squeeze a little, like an instant reaction. "You are what?"
"Human." The female said, stepping back from his grip and lowering her head. "Knockout found me, and Starscream approved of my appointment here."
"And you are loyal to our cause?"
"I… I don't fight. I'm just a nurse." She boldly looked up at him as he towered over her. "I don't really even know what your cause is."
The mech stared at her for a moment then went past her, walking over to the door, preparing to leave. He paused in the doorway and looked back at her. "Come." He ordered then went on.
Swallowing, Eleanor followed quickly behind him, keeping a far few steps back and eyes on his broad demanding form. It was strange to her; for months she had been seeing to his wound, the scar on his chest and tending to him as a nurse. But seeing him walking around, dressed in a long dark grey Edwardian style jacket with high collar and pristine white shirt and light grey waistcoat underneath , she felt even more embarrassed than before.
He said not one word to her as they walked, his presence making the air cold, and the troops they passed jump with shock.
Finally they arrived at the elevator and the lord lifted his head. "Bridge." He ordered, and the lift began to ride upwards. The human remained silent at his side, but her eyes drifted to look up at him. His hair may have been grey but there was no way this man could be called 'old'. He was old, but he didn't look it. Her hand began trembling all of a sudden, and she grabbed it in hopes of stopping it before anyone saw.
Without moving his head, Megatron saw her and lifted his head back. "You need not fear me." He mumbled just before the doors opened, and he stepped out, his eyes narrow and gritting his teeth. "STARSCREAM!" he bellowed, and Scrap jumped back a few steps, watching from the lift as the Decepticon leader stormed over to the smaller flimsy frame of Starscream who looked just as shocked to see the man as anyone else.
"My lord?!" He whimpered, already cowering back.
The grey haired man growled and lifted a fist, punching his second in the face, sending him across the room to collapse in a heap on the ground. "You traitorous little scrap heap. Do you really think I would not remember you were there?" He growled again, reaching out and grabbing the seeker by the throat, pulling the man up.
Scrap felt herself grow cold as she saw the mech lift Starscream up and over him, letting him dangle there in mid-air. Starscream was suddenly panicking, choking under the pressure, hanging purely by the neck. His legs kicked out little by little, and he gripped the arm holding him, begging in a raspy voice to be freed.
But Megatron just squeezed tighter. "You were the one who set the bomb off, hoping to terminate my spark."
The half leader was shuddering now, death nearly gripping him. Eleanor couldn't help herself. "STOP IT!" she yelled at the top of her lungs, running forwards to the pair. "Just stop it! Let him go!"
Megatron turned his fury filled eyes to her but made no move, not to release Starscream or strike her.
Holding back a tremble, Scrap clenched her hand into a fist. "Please my lord." She begged. "Let him go. I owe Starscream my life."
Lord Megatron looked back to his second, judging the reaction then released him, dropping him to the floor in a heap. "Consider this your final warning, Starscream, next time you try something like this, I will kill you. As for you…" He snapped, stepping over to the human, glaring down daggers into her. "You better learn your place if you are to remain here. I will not be spoken to like that by anyone. Especially not some human female." With that, he went off behind her and left the bridge.
Scrap swallowed her fear and turned to the choking Starscream. "Easy Commander." She said to him, holding him down and reaching into her medical kit, pulling out a container of something clear. "Here, drink this."
Starscream did as asked then coughed and stared at her. "When did I save your life?" He croaked while the human helped him to his feet.
"When you let me stay here. Now, I have to get you to medical."
The commander growled and pushed her away from him and into a console. "I don't need your help, you pathetic human. I will wait for a proper medic! Go get Knockout!"
A little hurt at the comment and from the shove, Scrap flinched and hurried off to find the other medic.
~#~
"Scrap!"
She looked up from her work to Knockout as he entered the medical bay. "Yes?"
He looked at her with clear anger. "Come here." He snapped, walking over to a medical table.
Abandoning the drone she had been in the middle of cleaning, Scrap hurried over and blinked. "What… what's the matter?"
The man nodded to the table, not looking at her. "On here."
"Have… have I done something wrong?"
"Sit."
Scrap did as told and quickly, Knockout reached out to her, grabbing her arm and looking down on it. The human was beginning to get a little confused on what he was doing as he held something over her arm. "Ah. There it is." He nodded, putting his thumb on her skin. "Put your finger there Scrap."
Still confused Scrap did as told and shrugged. "I don't understand. What are you doing?"
"Following Lord Megatron's orders." He said softly while dabbing something on her arm around her thumb. "Now, keep still."
With a surgeon's skill he took a blade to the nulled spot, cleaning up the blood as he did then taking a pair of tweezers to his cut, digging around in it before pulling out a tiny blood covered dot. He smiled at it and put it on the side. "There, sorted."
"What is that?"
"Don't you remember? I installed a tracker on you when you arrived here. But Megatron has ordered me to get it taken out."
"Why?"
Knockout laughed. "Primus if I know! But he's even ordered me to teach you how to drive our vehicles and for your training with Airachnid to be increased." He frowned at that one. "If I didn't know better… I'd say he was turning you into a solider."
That made the woman scoff. "But… I'm a nurse! I don't want to fight!"
"Not your call." He mumbled, quickly fixing her arm. "You live on this ship, you work as one of us, so you belong to Lord Megatron."
The human frowned deep and dark at the mech. "I don't belong to anyone."
Knockout lifted his eyes and grinned. "That's my girl."
