I apologize everyone! I know these updates aren't as often as some of my other ones but I swear I'm going to keep writing and eventually finish it. Thank you for being so patient!

A/N: Once again, not all Greeks are this insane!

.

This was it…at long last, tonight was the night. Their three weeks of hell was finally over once they completed the last task, they were promised official letters and official spots in the Theta Brotherhood.

Hiccup didn't know how to even describe what he'd been through, hell how did anyone know? He did know that there were good days and bad days and good nights and even worse nights. But they got through it as a team and he never felt closer to any friends before in his life. Not only his pledge brothers, but the ones who he'd come to know. Even his Phi sisters were fun to be around as they welcomed them to the family.

"Let's go." Guy said shortly as Hiccup finished putting on a black turtleneck with black pants and shoes. They all wore complete black at night, it was routine. They were also given black caps to wear when it was cold as well as gloves. Sometimes they went outside to march around while happy nights were spent in the warmth.

Hiccup nodded to Guy, bags under his eyes and his skin slightly pale from all the sleepless nights, but he got up and followed him out.

Guy too was wearing all black it seemed but Hiccup at this point didn't question why they did what they did. After a while, things made sense to him, more so than his other brothers. Hiccup had a knack for understanding why they did what they did and the significance behind it. Although other things he knew were just to prove a point and he shuddered as he remembered those.

Guy opened the basement door and pointed for Hiccup to go down. He nodded and walked down the dark steps where a soft light glowed. All of his other brothers sat around it. They looked up with tired faces matching his and smiled softly. Hiccup sat next to them and waited.

"No talking. Wait until we call your name." Harold spat as he walked upstairs with his twin. They were all left there completely in darkness saved for the small glowing light.

"I know we aren't supposed to talk…" Savage whispered, "But it's seriously been awesome working with you guys."

"Same." Hiccup smiled.

"Same." Everyone else mumbled as well.

"Almost done." Hiccup breathed and closed his eyes.

"DINGWALL!" a voice yelled down.

Dingwall flinched, always hating getting called out.

"Go ahead." Hiccup nodded encouragingly, "You can do it."

He nodded back and took a breath before practically tripping up the steps.

They all flinched when the door slammed and the whole house erupted in loud tapping sounds that echoed everywhere and not just in one room. It seemed to go on forever and Hiccup wondered how Dingwall was doing and if they might be quizzing again, but tonight seemed different.

It was almost deafening until it completely stopped. They all looked at one another nervously; this was new.

Before they could even question it the door opened and someone yelled down, "MACGUFFIN!"

"Where's Dingwall?" MacIntosh whispered nervously.

"Just go. It's fine." Hiccup reassured them. Though in truth it wasn't like the Thetas to separate them. They always had each other.

As MacGuffin left, they all heard the same banging sounds until they stopped and someone else was called. It felt like ages without a watch on and Hiccup wondered what was happening. Four of his brothers were taken up and did not return. It was just Ruffnutt and Hiccup left who stared at one another, breathing softly and shallowly.

"They aren't…they're fine." Ruff said to himself more than anything.

"You're gonna be fine too, Ruff." Hiccup nodded, "It'll be okay."

Ruff smiled softly, "Hey…I'm really glad you and your boyfriend are okay."

"Me too." Hiccup nodded, sighing, "Thanks for everything."

"You too."

"THORSTON!"

Ruff closed his eyes a second and then cracked his knuckles and marched upstairs, giving Hiccup a smile and a wink before walking up.

Hiccup was now completely and utterly alone as the noises echoed around him. He found his hands were shaking and he was practically sweating he was so nervous. He closed his eyes and tried thinking of something, anything to get him through this moment and thought of Jack. He smiled and opened his eyes.

There before him in the dim light was his boyfriend. He knew Jack wasn't really there, but it kind of helped having some form of him sitting there watching him with a smile.

"Don't get scared, little Viking." Jack grinned.

Hiccup chuckled down a sob nervously, "I hate that you aren't really here."

"I know. I miss you too. But you were right. We both are changing. I'm at home getting myself some therapy like you ordered and you're here becoming a man."

"You sound like that dude from Mulan." Hiccup rolled his eyes.

"I don't think his rules really applied to us."

"Be serious figment Jack."

It suddenly got quiet and Hiccup was expecting his name to be called any second. God here he was talking to a figment of his imagination and freaking out. He had to brace himself.

Nobody came.

He opened his eyes and looked around nervously as he waited then looked at Jack who smiled at him softly, "They're coming…right?"

"Relax, Hiccup. They're coming for you."

"No…I must have…I must have done something wrong!" he panicked.

Still no one came for him and he felt tears come to his eyes. The first real tears he'd shed all through pledging, "All that shit I went through and…and…"

"Hiccup…" Jack soothed, his voice echoing in his mind softly, "Wipe those tears and stand up. They're coming."

"No…it's not fair!" Hiccup cried, "It's not fair! What did I do?!" He wracked his brain for anything he might have said or done and worried that maybe they found out about Jack.

He tugged at his hair and squeezed his eyes shut as he waited, his heartbeat quickening.

"Jack…" Hiccup mumbled through tears, "I'm scared."

Jack smiled at him, "It's okay, Hiccup."

Hiccup wiped his eyes as more tears poured from his eyes, "God I haven't cried like this since…since…"

"I know."

"What do I do? Jack, what do I do?"

Jack stared at him firmly and then looked up quickly, "You can stand up now…Hiccup…I need you to stand."

Hiccup stared at him funny before getting up awkwardly on shaking legs.

"They're here."

"What?"

"HADDOCK!"

Hiccup yelped, jumping and looked over to see Jack had disappeared. He was alone as he shuffled forward, wiping at his face and taking shallow breaths as he walked up the stairs.

He passed by the Stabbington Brothers and noticed the house was dimly lit with candles, glowing softly among Theta's who hid their faces under black cloaks. Hiccup could see the paddles they held and they seemed to be waiting for him.

Hiccup didn't make them wait long as he gave out a slightly choked address for them.

Without warning, their paddles banged against the floor, slowly at first and then got faster as Hiccup was shoved forward. He didn't know where he needed to go, but it seemed as they advanced with their paddles he was being pushed towards the stairs. The sound was deafening and slightly horrifying as he climbed the stairs with more Theta's banging paddles, quickening the rhythm as he got closer to the top. He practically ran, trying to get away from the noise. He came to the Theta Hall and was pushed through the door. It shut behind him and he could still hear the paddles but they weren't as loud as before when they chased him.

He turned around the dark room as it lit up with soft candles and there before him were six cloaked figures all hiding their faces and standing in a circle.

"Haddock…" Dagur said menacingly through the room somewhere, "Stand in the middle."

"Sir." Hiccup nodded weakly and walked to stand in the middle of all these frightening figures.

"How did it feel?" Dagur asked him and his voice seemed to travel around him. Needless to say, Hiccup was scared because he couldn't even see the guy.

"Sorry?" Hiccup squeaked.

"Being alone…away from your brothers, scared we'd forgotten all about you. How did it feel?"

"Umm…" Hiccup shook as he licked his lips nervously, "I…"

A paddle banged somewhere in the room and he flinched, "Don't lie! No more lies Hiccup. We know about your…lifestyle."

Hiccup's eyes widened and he panicked, looking around, "What?"

"We've always known, Hiccup. Why do you think you were picked last tonight?" Dagur laughed.

Hiccup panted and looked down, feeling frightened, his fists clenched. He didn't even know what to say, "I'm…I'm sorry, I-"

"So…" Dagur interrupted him, "why don't you start with at least one truthful thing and tell us how it felt to be alone." Dagur said a little more softly and Hiccup wasn't sure if he liked the 'gentle' Dagur because it wasn't like him at all.

Hiccup stared at the floor and couldn't stop the tears as he felt his hands clench, "It felt…it felt…" he finally looked up and glared at the darkness, "It felt like the night my mom died." He cried, "I felt helpless…like I couldn't save her from my dad. It felt like...like everything I did was…was useless and that I was useless…that I didn't amount to anything and I was mad! I was mad because I'd done so much and did everything you asked of me. I even abandoned the love of my life for this and to…to be left down there was…it hurt." He sobbed, "And I know I didn't tell you about my boyfriend and it was scary and so hard, but…okay, I'll admit, I was scared. I was scared because I saw it…I saw what it did to Jack…what being beaten because you're gay looks like. And I was more terrified of the bruises and pain than of being honest and…it's killing me! I don't ever want to experience that again! So please…please…if you don't like me having a boyfriend then just say so now, cause I'll leave…but know that…I did everything for three weeks of hell because…I love my brothers just as much."

It was deathly quiet and he hadn't even realized that the paddles had stopped banging until all he could hear was his ragged and shallow breathing.

"Hiccup…" Dagur said softly, causing him to flinch, "Please turn to your senior mentor."

"My…my what?"

"Your senior mentor, idiot. He's going to give you your name."

"I'm…I'm not…getting kicked out?"

"Haddock I'm not going to ask you again, now fucking choose!" he could practically hear Dagur rolling his eyes.

Hiccup looked up through tears and swallowed, realizing that this was it. He was going to become a Theta! They didn't care about Jack or him being gay! He didn't know whether to laugh with relief or sob on the floor. But he didn't exactly have time to do that now.

He looked around at the hooded figures, looking over each one individually. He saw it then, a red badge being held by one of the seniors and he walked to it. He thought it might be it but when he looked up, he realized it wasn't who he wanted. He shook his head and backed away slowly. He then turned and looked over to see who he wanted. He walked over, smiling as he realized that he'd find this guy anywhere anytime, being the one Theta who'd over the weeks truly got him through and knew about his secret. He stood in front of the senior and cleared his throat, "Good evening Bork the Bold."

The Theta removed his hood and just as Hiccup guessed, it was Bork.

He smiled at him and winked, "Hiccup…you've not only proved yourself by being one of the best PCP's we've seen in a long time, but you chose to help your brothers over yourself. Not once during pledging did you lose it or cry until tonight when you realized that you need them as much as they need you. You were honest about your feelings tonight and as a result, it is my honor to welcome you to the Theta family."

Hiccup smiled as he was given his first badge. It was a red dragon insignia with the Theta letters surrounding it in black. As he pinned it on he continued to smile at Hiccup and then turned him around to face the other seniors, holding his arm up, "I present my newest heir to the Hairy Hooligan Tribe! Hiccup the Useful!"

Hiccup couldn't believe it! He was part of the Hooligan tribe! He turned and smiled widely as the rest of the Theta's came in, hoods off and clapping excitedly.

Hiccup could see his brothers come in all wearing their new Theta badges. They were smiling and Dingwall brought everyone in for a group hug while MacIntosh cheered.

They were all given pats on the back and told what a good job they did.

"Alright! Break it up! We have gifts and then we drink! Let's go!" Alvin roared.

Everyone got quiet and shuffled around, leaving the new members in the middle to look over nervously as Dagur and Alvin shook hands before them.

"That was an exciting experience, I must say." Dagur boasted as he grinned at all of them, and then frowned menacingly, "But this doesn't change the fact that I'm still your lord and master you bitches!"

They stared nervously and then he guffawed in the most unusual way, "I'm kidding! Or am I?" he narrowed his eyes.

A few of them chuckled nervously, unsure what to do and Dagur just shrugged, "Alright, whose first?"

"Dingwall, right?"

"Get up here, brother!" Dagur cheered excitedly.

"Y-yes sir-"

"Just call me Dagur now you dipstick. I swear I had my doubts about you, but you were kind of a badass at times. I like it! Welcome to my family stupid! Now come here!" he said as he pulled Dingwall in for a noogie.

The others watched as the people who'd ordered them around and made them feel like shit at times were suddenly the friendliest people ever.

"Tell us who you are now, bro!" one Theta called and Dingwall turned around as his tribe stepped forward, "Uh…Dingwall the Dimwit…heir to Hoark the Haggard…part of the Berserker Tribe."

He was suddenly given shirts and prizes galore as his family brought him over to stand with them.

Hiccup listened as his brothers stated their names; MacGuffin the Monster, heir to Grimbeard the Ghastly and part of the Beastly Tribe. MacIntosh the Marauder, heir to Madguts the Murderous and part of the Stabs-a-Lot Tribe. Savage the Barbaric heir to Alvin the Treacherous and part of the Outcast Tribe. And then Tuffnutt the Terrible heir to Norbert the Nutjob and part of the Fearsome Nutters Tribe.

Hiccup too was rewarded with stuff to welcome him to his family and he couldn't wait to tell his dad everything when got the chance.

He was actually surprised to get paddles too! They had been decorated by members of his 'tribe' and he didn't know if he could even haul all of this stuff back to his dorm there was so much of it.

"Alright! Get changed cause we're partying tonight!" Alvin cheered and everyone immediately grew excited as they led out their new brothers.

Hiccup shouldn't have been surprised to see that kegs had been brought in and beer glasses engraved with their initials on them waiting at the table.

He was walking around and was suddenly stopped by Dagur standing in front of him. He always got the feeling that Dagur hated him, yet respected him in some small way. But being Theta maybe things would change.

"Sir?" Hiccup swallowed nervously.

Dagur rolled his eyes, "I keep telling you morons, it's Dagur now."

"Right…Dagur?" Hiccup tried.

Dagur narrowed his eyes, "Consider yourself lucky no one found out about your little secret until tonight."

"I thought…more people knew about-"

Dagur laughed, "You kidding?! That's a ploy we use to get the real truth out of everyone. We knew about your…your biological dad and what not. But the gay thing?! That was impressive!"

"I just…I didn't want people judging me for being gay is all." Hiccup said, looking at the floor.

Dagur just stared at him and nodded, shrugging, "Not gonna lie, you pissed me off the most, Haddock. You had this cocky attitude and sarcasm that would make a nun swear. Not to mention you were just so goody-two-shoes about it all. Made me sick."

"Sorry…" Hiccup tried.

Dagur merely laughed, "You know what? I like you! You might be a gay dipshit, but I like you!"

"Well…thanks." Hiccup smiled.

"Whatever." Dagur laughed as he walked away and Hiccup was left shrugging his shoulders and realizing that this was obviously the real Dagur-an ADHD guy who was most likely bipolar as well.

Hiccup ran to put his things in Guy's room and change into his new red-t-shirt with his letters and name on them. He stared at his reflection in the mirror and smiled proudly. He did it! He was a Theta!

He could hear people laughing and joking in the house and was relieved that soon he could just enjoy the company instead of aiming to please it. He was about to go out but decided to do something else instead.

He found his phone and realized how cold it felt being he hardly touched it in three weeks. He saw Jack's name and smiled as he dialed his number. Sure it was pretty late but he knew Jack would be ecstatic to hear from him.

"Hello?" A mumbled, sleepy voice said on the other line.

"Jack?"

"Hiccup?!"

"Jack! You are not gonna believe it!" Hiccup cheered, "I did it! I'm a Theta! And they totally are okay with me being gay! It's amazing! I have to tell you so much and-"

"Whoa! Whoa! Slow down!" Jack chuckled, "It's like…2 in the morning."

"We're celebrating. God I wish you were here!" he smiled.

Jack sighed and laughed, "You have no idea how great it is to hear how wonderful you sound."

"Jack…I want to see you so bad. I'm…I'm so sorry I put this before you and I promise that's going to change now. I don't want the love of my life taking second place."

"Hiccup-"

"Because, I realize how much you needed me and I was just being selfish and-"

"Hiccup!"

"Yeah?"

"I'm proud of you."

"Really?"

"Absolutely. Now please go break a few rules so I can go back to sleep." Jack chuckled.

"I want to see you next weekend. I want to come down." Hiccup said, "I kind of need to get out of here anyways." He chuckled.

"Well you know I'll be here." Jack said fondly.

"Okay…I'll let you get back to sleep."

"Thank you!" Jack squealed as he yawned. .

"And Jack…"

"Yes my darling?" Jack teased tiredly.

"Thanks for getting me through tonight." Hiccup smiled.

"Sure thing." Jack shrugged as he yawned again and Hiccup had a feeling he had no clue what he was talking about but didn't care, "Anytime."

Hiccup laughed, "Good night, crazy. I'll see you soon."

"I love you."

"I love you too." Hiccup said softly as he hung up.
