Watching his children leave through the floo with Charlie and Viktor was the hardest thing Draco had ever done, and that included kissing Voldemort's robes. Draco shivered slightly at that memory. He looked to his left as he felt someone gently rub his arm in comfort. Harry was looking at him with sympathy, obviously trying to offer comfort to his boyfriend. Draco tried to smile at him to let him know he was ok, but it seemed he didn't even have the energy to tell that small lie. Draco was in fact far from ok. His heart was breaking, and it was taking everything in him not to throw himself into the floo and go after his children.
Instead he took a deep breath and turned to the people in the room.
"Ok so let's go over the plan." He said , hands clenched in determination at his side.
Harry placed a hand on Draco's shoulder, silently telling him to stop. Draco looked at him confused. Why were they waiting, the sooner this was over the sooner he could see his kids again.
"Just wait for 3 minutes, before you start explaining everything." Harry explained.
Draco shook his head bewildered.
"Wait? Wait for what?" He really didn't understand what Harry was waiting for. They were here and he had a plan to explain. Every minute they waited was another minute his children were away from him.
"We are waiting for reinforcements." Harry replied simply as the floo flared to life behind them.
Draco's eyes widened in shock as he watched Fred Weasley exit the floo, closely followed by George, both wearing identical grins on their faces. The next to step through was Luna Lovegood, her trademark dreamy look in place. Neville was the next to stumble out of the fireplace, Blaise had to quickly grab him to stop him falling face first into the floor. Neville thanked Blaise, a blush rising in his cheeks. Blaise just smiled and gave him a friendly pat on the back, making Neville smile as he walked to stand next to Luna. The blonde gave her boyfriend a smile, as she took his hand in hers and leaned close. Draco's eyebrows raised slightly at the couple. He hadn't realised they were dating, but now that he thought about it they were perfect for each other. Neville was patient enough to put up with Luna's random craziness and Luna was kind enough to see the good in Neville, rather than just the nervous man he seemed.
Draco noticed that two more Weasley's had joined the group when he had been staring at Luna and Neville. Bill and Percy were dusting down their robes as they moved to join everyone in the centre of the living room.
Draco was quite surprised at the number of Wealseys who were currently in the room. He never thought they would be so quick to help a Malfoy. Then again it wasn't just Draco's family they were going after, it was theirs too. There was a big chance Ron would be there when they attacked, and it was only right they were there to capture their brother.
The last to step through the floo was Kingsley Shacklebolt , and Nymphodora Tonks. When Draco turned to silently question their arrival to Harry, the Gryffindor just quietly replied that he thought it best they had Ministry witnesses when all this went down. They didn't want it to get messy and not have the Ministry backing. Running into crime scenes without informing officials was how Sirius ended up in Azkaban and Harry didn't one of them making that mistake.
Draco highly doubted that anyone would throw the boy-who-lived into prison without a trial, but Draco couldn't say the same about himself and was glad that Harry had taken the precaution. There were many people who wouldn't think twice about throwing a Malfoy into Azkaban without a trial, even if it was an innocent one. Draco really had to use all of his self-control not to hug Harry there and then. They may have only just had their first kiss a few hours ago, but Draco knew he would never find anyone else who cared about him as much as Harry did. And Draco could say that his feelings were easily reciprocated. In fact Draco was starting to think that he would never love someone as much as he loved Harry (except his twins of course). However, declarations of love would have to be put on hold until this battle was over. Hopefully it would be the last battle that the pair would have to be a part of.
It took all of 15 minutes to catch everyone up and to go over the plan, which to be honest was very simple...use Draco as bait.
Harry especially was not happy with this plan. However, they had no way of finding Lucius, Bellatrix, or Ron, without waiting for them to slip up. Unfortunately, now that they had Severus as a hostage the group did not have the luxury of waiting until one of them accidently gave away their location. Therefore, Draco was going to go back to where Severus was taken to "look for clues" and hope that one of them is laying in wait for him. Harry and the others will be close by out of sight to make sure Draco isn't killed on sight. Although, the chances of Draco getting killed or seriously hurt before they could get to him was very high. Draco would have a powerful locating charm on him. However, yet again there was a risk Lucius or Bellatrix would detect the charm and remove it before they could locate Draco.
There was way too many ifs for Harry's liking. Too much could go wrong, and there were more negative ways the plan could go than positive. The only positive part of the plane was the fact they had many powerful wizards on their side, and they outnumbered the other side almost 4-1. That is of course if Lucius and Bellatrix hadn't recruited more people, which was a strong possibility. There were still many deatheaters that hadn't been caught. Deatheaters that had probably spent the last 5 years laying in hiding just waiting for a new Lord to lead them, and Lucius Malfoy definitely met that brief. Especially with crazy Bellatrix at his side.
Harry rubbed his hands over his face trying to calm his nerves as the time to leave grew closer. He drew his wand and started to twist it nervously, a habit he hadn't indulged in since the war. He turned to look at the people around him. People he had gone to war with once, and now he felt like he was doing it again. The Weasley's were all huddled in the corner, as if having a family meeting, and if Harry was reading the situation Bill was lecturing his younger brothers on being safe and not taking any unnecessary risks. For once the twins were listening to their older brother seriously and were nodding in agreement at his words. All of the brothers drew closely simultaneously and carried out a brotherly group hug. Harry smiled at this, as it reminded him of all the summers at the Burrow where the brothers would do the same thing before taking part in a Weasley vs Weasley quidditch match. Harry had been shocked when Bill, Fred, and Ron, who were all on his team during the summer of his fourth year, had pulled him into their team hug. Harry's heart clenched slightly at the thought of Ron. He never thought he would be fighting one of his best friends. His first true friend. But as he looked over to see Hermione and Blaise embracing, Blaise holding Hermione close offering her comfort for what she was about to face. In that moment Harry knew he would do anything to protect Hermione. Ron had hurt her, and now he was trying to hurt Draco and the twins, and Harry would do anything to stop him succeeding. He just hoped Ron would give up quickly, because although Harry wanted Ron to be stopped, Harry did not think he could handle his old friend being killed.
Turning towards the fireplace he saw Neville and Luna in a similar embrace as Hermione and Blaise. Neville pulled back and ran his hand gently down Luna's face, leaning in slightly to whisper something to her that made Luna smile sweetly and kiss him lightly on the lips. The way Neville lit up at the simple kiss made Harry smile. He was glad his two friends had found each other. Anyone with eyes could see they were perfect for each other, and Harry was just counting the days until Neville gathered the courage to finally give her the ring he had been carrying around in his pocket for the last 4 months.
Harry's eyes shifted to look at the distraught figure slumped over in the armchair. Remus had placed his head in his hands, and was taking every ounce of strength in him to not go outright crazy. He was obviously distraught over the kidnapping of Severus, and Harry knew that he was wrongly blaming himself. However, when Harry had attempted to comfort the werewolf he had just growled to be left alone. Usually Harry would refuse, but he knew at this point the only thing that would help Remus would be seeing Severus safe, and alive. Therefore, everyone was giving the werewolf a wide berth until they were ready to leave.
The last people in the room were Tonks and Shacklebot who were both placing heavy tracking spells on various items of Draco's clothing as well as Draco himself. Harry saw them call over to Bill who joined the trio to help, obviously lending his curse breaker experience to weave spells that would hopefully hide the tracking charms long enough for the group to follow him.
Once they were done Draco smiled and shook their hands. Or he attempted to shake Tonks's his hand who just shook her head, batting his hand out of the way, before launching herself at him giving him a clumsy hug. She leant over to whisper something in his ear that Harry couldn't work out, but they may have meant a lot to Draco because when he pulled back he saw tears appearing in his eyes. Tonks smiled at the blonde and gently wiped the tear that had fallen down his cheek. She said something else that made Draco nod and smile. The blonde gave her one last hug and walked over to Harry.
Noticing Harry's questioning look Draco gave a small smile.
"Tonks was just saying that her and her mum still think of me as family, no matter what my mum did. She said that after all this Andromeda wants to meet the twins and spend more time with us. She uhh..wanted to make sure that we knew we still have family on our side."
Harry could see the delighted glint in Draco's eyes. Obviously it had helped the slytherin to know that he still had family who cared about him, especially since he was about to go after his father and aunt.
"That's great Draco. It's nice to know you have family on your side. Especially Tonks and Andy, they are great people to have on your side."
Draco tilted his head slightly.
"Do you know Andromeda and Tonks well?"
Harry nodded his head.
"Tonks was in the order so we spent a lot of time together during the war, and Andy kind of took me under her mother wing because of Sirius naming me as his heir. She knew I never really had a mother figure other than Molly. Although Molly always seemed like she was doing it because she had to. Andy always seemed to do it because she wanted to."
Draco shook his head in agreement.
"Yeah I have memories of her as a child trying to spend time with me, but mother and father always hated it. They forbid her from contacting me, I know she tried for a while but you don't really disobey people like my parents so U understand why she had to stop."
Harry reached over and squeezed Draco's hand.
"Well now you can get a second chance to know her. I know she is going to adore the twins."
The two smiled at each other at the thought of the future and family. Harry pulled Draco into a hug not caring that a few people in the room were raising their eyebrows in surprise. Harry didn't care who knew they were together, he knew no one in this room would be nothing but supportive. He even saw a few people passing coins to each other, obviously winning some bet. He would have to get the details on that later.
He whispered gently in Draco's ear.
"You ready for this?"
Draco sighed slightly, his breath tickling Harry's ear as they continued to hold each other.
"No, but the sooner this is over the sooner we can save Sev and I can see my children again. I just, I need this to go well." Draco pulled back slightly so that he was still in Harry's arms but could look him in the eye.
"Severus was the person who raised me. He was the one I think of as my father. This can't go wrong, I couldn't live with myself if something happened to him because of me."
Harry shushed him slightly and placed a hand gently on the side of his face.
"Nothing is going to happen. We are going to rescue him, capture those arseholes, and go get your beautiful children."
Draco still looked doubtful.
"How can you be sure nothing will go wrong?"
Have gave him a cheeky grin that reminded Draco greatly of the Harry from their schooldays.
"Because you have my boy-who-lived dumb luck on your side. No matter what situation I accidently put myself in it always goes ok."
Draco couldn't help but laugh slightly.
"That is true. How you get out of half the circumstances you end up in astounds me."
Harry smiled and pulled Draco into a gentle kiss, pouring all of his emotions into it. Draco sighed and gave in to the kiss. Reluctantly stopping as they realised they had an audience, they pulled back and looked at each other.
"We are going to do this. It finally ends tonight. No more running. No more looking over my shoulder every 10 seconds." Draco stated determinedly as he pulled away from Harry and pulled out his wand. He turned to look at everyone in the room. Some who still had a slightly stunned expression from witnessing the ex-nemeses kissing.
"Let's do this."
No one questioned him, not even Remus who had stood with a determined expression, his body coiled as if ready to pounce into battle.
The battle was about to begin, and no one said a word as they all silently gave each other one last look before leaving the mansion one by one.
