Chapter 14: A Bright Future

"I don't know what we're going to do with all of this free time. I mean, that case was solved in record timing," Finn noted as they left his Aston Martin in the garage before they walked into their home.
Nestling her head against his chest, Christie replies, "I guess we'll just have to make the best use of our time together, now won't we?"
Finn lightly wrapped his arms around Christie's waist before suggesting, "If it makes you happy, I'll do anything you say."
"Then promise me," she lightly remarks, pecking him on the lips.
"I wholeheartedly promise," Finn told her sincerely, tightening his grip on her waist.
Her face melting into a wide smile, Christie bops him on the nose before saying, "Glad to hear it. For a second there, I was starting to think I may have to begin monitoring the romance films you've been watching."
"Please. Like I'd get advice from cheesy films. I think I'm well enough equipped to woo women on my own. Not that I need to," Finn added after catching a glimpse of the scowl on Christie's face.
"No, you don't. I mean, you attracted me, didn't you? That's quite an accomplishment." Christie pointed out, her scowl fading into a grin.
"Looks like I'm not the only one with a major confidence boost as of late," Finn chided her, matching her smile with one of his own.
"It's not confidence. I just know my value." she countered with a shrug.
Laughing, Finn tells her, "Believe me, Christie, I know your value better than anybody. And it's very, very high." Following that comment, Finn smiled and kissed Christie in between her eyes.
"Shall we continue this in the bedroom?" Christie asks.
Finn replies by softly pressing his lips against hers.
She smiled as she shut her eyes in pleasure. "Well, maybe you could do that again, then we can move to a more private place."
Finn chuckled at his girlfriend, a smile creeping onto his face as he did so. Suddenly an idea popped into his mind. Smiling mischievously, Finn kissed Christie on the lips yet again before wrapping his arms around her and lifting her up, bridal style, before running her into their bedroom.
On the way, Christie laughed and cried out teasing pleas towards him, jokingly begging him to set her down. Christie squealed as Finn threw her down onto the bed before they began to play around. Christie wrapped her arms around Finn's neck, knotting her fingers in his hair in order to pull his mouth closer to her own. Finn put one hand to Christie's cheek and hooked his thumb under her jaw, the tips of his other fingers in Christie's hair. With the other hand, Finn pressed against the small of Christie's back in order to push her closer to himself. Smiling, Christie grabbed Finn by the wrists and flipped him over so that now Christie was on top of him. Finn moved his arms so that they were now around Christie's waist.
Christie tore her lips away from Finn's for a second to say, "I love you with all of my heart, Finn, so don't you ever let me forget it or doubt it."
Finn took his lips away from Christie's collarbone before gazing into her eyes. In an unwavering tone, he told her, "Christie, you never forget. I will never let you forget and I love you, too, with all of my heart. Even more than that, if it's possible."
"It is possible because that's how much I love you," Christie replied, a smile creeping onto her lips as she looked down at Finn who was smiling up at her with love in his eyes.
Closing the distance between the two of them, Finn kisses her again before hugging her to his body. As he played with a flyaway tendril of her hair, he thought about all that he and Christie had been through together. Just this week alone they had been shot at, Christie actually had been shot in the shoulder, and they had nearly been kidnapped on top of it all. The couple had been through so much together time and time again yet they still stood strong together in the face of it all. Every villain, every mission, every trial, and tribulation brought them closer. Despite all the odds being stacked against them, despite relationships being regarded as highly dangerous in their line of work, a month later they were still together. Yet it made them all the stronger and strengthened their bond, bringing the couple all the more closer together.
As his arms further embraced Christie, Finn kissed her on the forehead. It didn't matter challenges they faced because they would make it out together. Nothing would ever change that.
