Bruises and Chocolate
Chapter 14

Georgina's manicured fingers ran up and down the touch screen of her iPhone. She sat quietly next to Shingo while he thumbed through messages on his phone. The two hadn't spoken much since they'd been on the train. She started to wonder if this was a bad idea after all. However, her gut told her she would run into Mamoru on this trip. At least, that was what she hoped for. "I wasn't late by the way. We never had a specific meeting time." Shingo looked over at the girl who was now staring straight at him. Her brown eyes were almost amiss, surrounded by heavy black makeup.

"Point taken into consideration." Shingo replied, switching back to his native Japanese. Georgina slipped her phone into her jacket pocket and took Shingo's from his hands.

"Messaging your girlfriend, eh?" The girl asked, raising an eyebrow. She leaned against the seat browsing through the content of his phone.

"Messaging my dealer." Shingo said rolling his eyes as he retrieved his phone, purposefully brushing his fingertips against Georgina's. Her cheeks roused to a slight crimson. "I don't have a girlfriend. I don't have the time." Shingo pushed his hair out of his eyes, allowing Georgina to take them in.

"So what do you do in your spare time? You clearly aren't the scholastic type. You don't seem very athletic. You're way too pretty for that." Georgina pinched Shingo's cheeks, making him laugh. "What does pretty boy Shingo do with his time?"

"Chase heartbreakers like yourself." Shingo responded. Their train stopped at what seemed to be the tenth stop of the trip. The last few passengers in their car trickled off. It wasn't before long that the train was on its way again. "So why are you looking for trouble? What type of trouble are you looking for?"

"What ever do you mean?" Georgina asked, innocently, batting her long mascara-covered eyelashes. Shingo only looked at her, awaiting her response. "My friend was murdered a few years ago chasing some idol. He came back home but he's wiped his tracks cleaned. I want to find him. I want to know why he ran away while she died in my arms. I want to know that this asshole is somewhere suffering for what happened that day."

"Is that why you specifically asked to go to Nozawa Onsen? Seemed like such a strange request for such an American girl." Shingo joked. Georgina nodded in response. Just thinking of Mamoru made her furious. "How do you know where he is? I mean, how did you find out?"

"Well, on my first night here I decided to take a trip to his hometown." Georgina started.

Georgina slipped into a taxi outside of the mansion where the after-party was in full swing. Her boss was last seen slipping into the towncar of some Councilman. She took it as an excellent opportunity to take a short trip to the Juuban district. The taxi stopped in front of a small pub in the middle of town. Georgina hoped Mamoru hadn't dispelled of his bad ways and she could find him inside. The blonde entered into the pub, finding it nearly empty. There sat an younger guy, eagerly sipping on a glass of whisky. There were a few older men playing pool. All eyes were on the blonde as she sat down at the bar. Georgina was hard to miss in her antique white 3.1 Phillip Lim mini dress. The bartender, a taller woman, walked up to her. "Nice dress, sweetie. Are you lost? We don't dress up and sip cocktails around this part." A few men in the back chuckled.

"Be nice, Kiko." The younger guy spoke up.

"I'll have a Jack on the rocks." Georgina spoke up, her voice stern. The woman only grunted as she prepared the drink.

"They're a little rough around the edges here after dark." The guy commented, moving his drink and sitting next to Georgina.

"So I figured. I'm looking for someone and I heard you were the man to see." Georgina stated, turning to face the man in front of her. His blonde hair was ruffled and he had new worry lines. He only raised an eyebrow in response and Georgina pulled a newspaper clipping out of her purse. She placed it face down into the man's hands. He turned it over looking at it and his smile faded. Taking a pen out of his back pocket, he scribbled down an address and placed it back into her hands. The bartender returned with her drink and Georgina downed it in one gulp. "Thank you, Furuhata-san, for your help and for buying me a drink." She kissed him lightly on the cheek before exiting the bar as when she came.

"Motoki, who in the hell was that?" Kiko asked slamming her palms down on the top of the bar.

"A friend." Motoki replied, taking a large gulp of his drink.

Ami, Minako, Makoto, Rei, and Usagi were in the jacuzzi on the back patio while Mamoru and Motoki protested the chilly air. "So you two are getting cozy." Minako stated looking over at Usagi, whose cheeks instantly lit up with a bright cherry red.

"I'm not cozy with anyone. I'm on vacation." Usagi protested.

"Getting laid-cation." Makoto whispered loudly to Minako. The girls burst into a fit of giggles and Usagi splashed water over the taller girl beside her.

"Shut up. I am not, I repeat, am not sleeping with anyone on this trip." Usagi whispered, looking over into the living room to make sure the conversation was amongst safe company. Makoto waved off Usagi's protest with a wave of her hand.

"There will be a moment when you're both getting cozy up in that room. First there will be a little kiss, then some nibbling..."

"MY GOD!" Ami shrieked covering her ears. "Makoto! As much as I love Usa, I don't want to imagine our two counterparts doing it." Ami's final words were a harsh whisper which brought Rei and Minako into a larger fit of giggles.

"That's because you'll be too busy 'doing it' with my husband, Motoki." The brunette responded. Ami gasped, covering her mouth before sinking her head underneath the waters.

"Poor Ami-chan. You'll give her a heart attack." Usagi giggled. Ami came up for air, her blue hair soaked.

"You guys are ridiculous. I'm going to bed." She announced before leaving the girls alone.

"Bed with Motoki." Makoto mumbled before receiving a sharp elbow to the ribs from Rei.

"You harlots with your lewd sexual practices, scaring away poor Ami-chan. Shame on you." Usagi smiled while pretending to scold them. Minako, Makoto, and Rei pretended to hang their heads in shame.

"Us poor harlots! Guide us, Sister Tsukino, with your ways of purity and justice." Minako pretended to weep as she bowed before Usagi. Rei splashed the girls both with water sending them into another laughing fit.

"What do you think is so funny?" Mamoru asked as he stood next to Motoki watching the girls through the sliding glass door. Both were holding mugs of steaming coffee, watching as the girls continued to splash water and laugh.

"Seeing as Ami has excused herself, I would say any crude behavior is up for grabs." Makoto announced. The two men watched as Makoto placed both hands around her barely clad breasts and Minako offered her a pretend motor-boat.

"Well, that escalated quickly." Mamoru responded as both men turned and walked away from the glass door. "I'm going to go bleach my brain."

Georgina rested soundly with her head in Shingo's lap. They had a few minutes to go before they reached the bus stop. At least, that was the last announcement made over the loudspeaker twenty minutes ago. Although her body was silent, her mind was racing. She wasn't sure what her plan was. She had Mamoru's address, or least the place where he was planning to stay. However, she was stuck with Shingo and who knew what that would lead to? Her mind was telling her to stay unattached but her body was saying something otherwise. Again, it had been years since she found the affection of another man and she did find Shingo quite attractive. Saki would have encouraged her to go for it, no doubts about it. She didn't want to lose focus of her mission. She only had two days, of course. Maybe a few hours with Shingo wouldn't be terrible.

Shingo felt Georgina shift forward and he found himself lying his hand on her thigh. This was probably trouble, but he liked it. He liked the idea of this American girl taking an impromptu trip with him into the mountains. He needed to get away. Sure, he'd be back in school in a few days. For now, he just wanted to forget about everything. After this, he would return home and check on Usagi. He cringed at the thought of his sister, grieving alone. The last conversation he had with her was awful and he was to blame.

Shingo was throwing things in his suitcases. The only people left over from the funeral were Usagi's stupid friends who were tip toeing around the siblings as if they tattooed fragile on their foreheads. He couldn't stay in this house. Nothing about it was familiar, even though everything was. It smelled like them. He could still hear their footsteps in the morning and late at night. He could hear his mother's laughs as she watered the plants. It was miserable and he needed to go. Their inheritance would more than cover boarding school. He didn't even have plans for university. He could just get a job and figure things out. He heard his bedroom door creak open and he mentally cursed. "Shingo." Usagi's voice was soft and quiet.

He turned to face his sister who carried a tray of tea and cookies. She was still wearing the black dress she'd been wearing all day. Her eyes were red and swollen. She offered him a small smile, placing the tray on his empty dresser. "Are you taking a trip?" She asked. He knew she wasn't naive or stupid. He hated when she did this. Usagi always pretended things weren't the way they seemed. She always made herself forget.

"No Usagi. I'm leaving." The teenager confirmed, returning to take clothes out of his closet. "I won't be living here anymore, in Juuban. I'm moving." He didn't want to face her. He couldn't see her break anymore. He didn't want to see her devastated.

"But Shingo. I'm supposed to take care of you. Mom and Dad wanted—"

"Mom and Dad wanted what, Usagi? It doesn't matter what they wanted! They fucking died!" Shingo found himself laughing at that moment, facing his sister who was trying to fight her tears. "I don't need you to take care of me. You can't even take care of yourself. You pretend things aren't real, like you aren't bruised when everyone takes advantage of you! I don't need to live here. I don't need you." Shingo was zipping up his suitcases when Motoki walked in the room.

"There's a taxi outside." He notified them, clearly uneasy with the scene between the two.

"You're a fucking champion, Motoki. Take care of her." Shingo brushed past his sister and Motoki, taking all of his bags with him. He could hear Usagi's hysterical screams as he walked out of the front door. She would be fine, of course she would be. She could always forget if she wasn't.

When Usagi finally returned to their temporary bedroom, Mamoru was already in bed reading. Her skin was pink from the warm shower she'd just taken. Mamoru pretended not to notice her slipping out of the towel, only wearing boyshorts. Her bare back was turned to him as she dug through her bags, grabbing a large black t-shirt. He watched intensely as she slipped the shirt over her head and the fabric loosely draped over her figure. She faced him with the shirt hanging off her right shoulder and stopping mid-thigh. "I don't recall you being much of a tease, Usagi Tsukino." Mamoru noted, pulling his reading glasses back on his face.

"I don't recall you wearing glasses." Usagi noted as she slipped into bed. Somehow the king sized bed felt small with him next to her. She was dangerously close, laying her head on his shoulder. He was reading coursework, as the old Mamoru Chiba would. Back then, she would frown at him but she found some of the essays in his textbook fascinating. Somehow, they'd fallen into the rhythm of almost being a couple. His arm had made its way around her small waist, smaller than usual these days. She found her hand on his chest, relaxing with the sound of his heartbeat.

"You know this is dangerous." Mamoru breathed into her ear. Part of her wanted it to be. She didn't mind the risks. She wanted him to take advantage of her. She'd never been in a situation like this with any man before. She hadn't dated much after Mamoru, only a few men here or there. All of sudden, she wanted to be another person. The old Usagi was frail and bruised. Thinking of that word brought Shingo to her mind and she wanted to push herself even farther. Maybe it wasn't a bad thing. Mamoru was obviously bruised as well. He had demons and she had hers. She just wanted a moment to live.

Mamoru wanted to protest. He only knew what he could be capable of in this mindset. His brain was going haywire. He found her putting his book on the nightstand and straddling on top of him. "This is extremely dangerous." He whispered, his voice husky with longing. Usagi pressed her lips on his, making him forget almost everything he was thinking. As he felt her squeeze her thighs around his, he felt himself lose all control. The only thing he could think of was Motoki murdering him. He wanted to protest but he found Usagi sliding her shirt off. Motoki was going to kill him.
