Chapter 14: Welcome to Jurassic Park?

"Pardon my bad humor, but it seems you guys came in on a rough landing, am I right"?

Andrea responds,"Indeed, we were attacked by a Pteranodon mid-flight and had no choice but to jump out into the rough seas. The pilot, unfortunately, did not make it. He...", she finds it harder to continue but says," ...He blew up the helicopter to kill it". Andrea clears her throat.

Nate responds,"Well I am sorry to hear about that. Jurassic Park hasn't been kind to us these past few years. As for the new park, I have some hope for that".

"So, how many dinosaurs exactly have been genetically mutated?"

"Approximately 15. Majority of them are carnivores, so that is our top priority as of right now".

Robert asks,"And what species are have been exposed? We were only informed of velociraptors". Tim shivers by the sound Robert's voice saying the name of the vicious birds of prey. Tim shakingly asks,"Yeah, what others are there, that we should be worrying about".

Nate responds,"Well, the Tyrannosaur has not been exposed so she is not going to be much of a threat. But we're mostly dealing with the smaller dinosaurs, such as the Compys, Dilophosaurs, and most recently, the Giganotosaurus". Tim looks puzzled.

"When did InGen add that one? I thought the company stopped productions soon after the incidents in 1997"

"You mean the Giga? Well, it wasn't long after your departure from the island 9 years ago. Not long until after the decision... "

"I thought that the park was destroyed upon our departure from the island".

"Lo and behold". Nathan points out to the jungle outside of the jeep.

Tim raises his voice, "but I saw the explosions. Surely, my grandfather's apparent death turned out to be a mistake. He only ended up being in a coma for several months after we left".

Andrea jumps in saying,"well the park is still here, and so is Mr. Hammond".

"But I saw those hadrosaurs dying off", Tim adds.

Robert then says, "I believe it's time I told you this. That supposed destruction of the park, Tim, was planned. As you and I are affiliated with the Jurassic Park Europe project, I was high enough in the ranks to gather intel about the original park that no one knew except the most trusted InGen employees such as myself. Definitely, your group witnessed the fatalities of the dinosaurs, but InGen had that backup. The Isla Sorna incident in 1996 with Ian Malcolm's team revealed that InGen has really been producing the dinosaurs on Site B, then transporting them in their youth to the main park".

"So you mean to tell me that the hatchery in Isla Nublar, was just for show"?

"Essentially".

"But that still doesn't explain how this island is up and running again".

"Yes, well the entire park was not destroyed in the process. InGen called off the bombing of the island only an hour after you left. Does that clear everything?"

"Somewhat."

"What's the matter now?"

"How'd the compys get out?"

Nathan says," Actually, those compys may or may not be some of the genetically enhanced that were affected by the chemicals. I only came to retrieve you three after receiving the distress signal, but the invasion was an unexpected surprise. It would have been best to get rid of all of them, but I at least drove them back into hiding."

Several minutes go by in silence until Nathan states, " Will you look at that? We're here". The jeep pulls up in front of the old visitor center that Tim walked through, 9 years ago.
