MLP EG: Luck Before You Sleep

Leaving for Equestria

{Notes from the author: [As I have a burning hunger to move on to the next phase of this story, I'll be posting the finale to this odd novella at this time. My sincerest apologies to all who were following, but, I have a raging fire in my belly…or possibly my balls, heh, and it needs to be put out…or at least relieved for now.]

[When the next wave of EG comes, or even the 5th season, I may come across some inspiration to finish up this story, but, until then…c'est la vie.]

[Thank you for sticking with me. I hope the next phase of Spike's little adventure will keep you just as entertained…]}

Morning, the next day, greeted Rarity with a gentle, pleasant, yet icy chill, as only winter mornings could give. She woke, finding herself and everyone around her neatly settled in their sleeping bags and wearing some form of pajamas or overnight wear, with her newer arrivals dressed in some spare sleep duds of her own. She didn't quite recall everyone slipping into any of these, but, remembering that last night was such a wild rush of party, she brushed her amnesia aside and started her day. She rustled around in her comfortable sleeping bag, pulling herself up and out, ever so slightly, to at least giver herself the utility of her arms, pleasantly finding that there was a large, weighty, and wonderfully warm bundle resting upon her belly. It was her beloved little Spikey-Wikey, and he lay in a nice little doughnut, cozy and smiling, as only a cute, little puppy could be. For a moment, she felt puzzled at herself, as she thought she should be knowing or remembering something monumental to Spike's presence or welfare…yet she couldn't for the life of her do so…except for the fact that, today, he was leaving for Equestria. Although the departure of this little bundle of joy was very bittersweet, she knew that he knew that this place stood very well as a second home for him.

Rarity fidgeted, struggling to slip out of her sleeping bag while doing her best not to wake little Spikey-Wikey. She managed to do so and rose to slip away, but, not before she stooped down to give the little puppy a pleasant scratch beneath his silky, furry chin and give a nuzzle to his adorable face, nose to nose.

Spike smiled warmly, mumbling "Mmmmmmmhhhhh…Rariteeehhh…" as he did so, making her smile, misty eyed.

"Ohhh, Spikey-poo." Rarity cooed adorably, nearly sniffling at his unknowingly returned love to her and overcome by the fact that she really didn't want him to go…even wanted to keep him for her own. "I love you too!" she whispered and kissed him on his warm, furry little head. She wanted to thank him for his visit and thought of just the perfect way, in her own way, that she could do so…

The morning was passing swiftly by as everyone was rising and yawning at their own pace. Several attempts to get Rarity's attention for breakfast were made, as the hours passed, yet, whenever one was to knock upon her door, all she said was, "Just a moment! I'm in the zone, as it were. I'm afraid you'll have to go on without me!"

So, they did. Applejack, Miss Luna, and Sunset Shimmer made haste to serve up a nice, tasty, waffle, bacon, and egg breakfast, with Spike wanting…and, for some reason, believing he could actually give them a hand with everything, yet, the fact that he was a mere puppy didn't account for it. Whenever he wanted and nearly begged to help, everyone felt so thankful and really wanted to accept his help, indeed believing that he could, yet, all they could say was, "Sorry, Spike. It doesn't look like you can." They all did, however, give him the warmest of kisses, pettings, and rubs, all of which they couldn't explain why they were so deeply felt…as if they shared some deep, intimate moments with the little guy…but couldn't quite remember them, aside from all the heartfelt dialogue.

Breakfast came and went, with choruses of inappropriate girl talk and howls of laughter, all over crunchy, buttery waffles dripping with fresh maple syrup, crispy smoked bacon, and fluffy scrambled or creamy, silky, and gooey eggs. There were several moments when they all were trying to remember some great, fun, crazy moments of the night before, yet…the same…they just couldn't remember anything but the feelings and a bunch of blurred, crazy dancing. It was funny, they decided after a while, and brushed it all off as a night, indeed a weekend of hard, fast, crazy fun. Miss Luna, however, gave the slightest hint of sadness over not remembering, yet, she passed it off as maybe being a bit too much.

It was mid-morning when Twilight arrived, having called at the end of breakfast, requesting a pickup. Miss Luna and Twilight stood at the doorway, as Sunset Shimmer opened the front door. Twilight was, as anyone would, taken in complete awe of the tower.

"…I know, right?" Spike said, after leaping into Twilight's arms. She was so shocked at the regal look of this place that she almost failed to catch him.

They were then ushered into the lounge, where Trixie was giving a magic show. She was backed by dramatic, wubified music, provided by none other than Viny Scratch, and, she was assisted by Rainbow Dash. The crowd was stupefied, as Trixie made things pop out of thin air and pulled objects out of strange places on Rainbow Dash's body. As the crowd was firmly amazed and applauded Trixie's grand finale: actually making Rainbow Dash levitate, Spike saw, out the corner of his eye, that Rarity was standing just outside the doorway. As the crowd stood and applauded the act…and Trixie dabbed her sweaty forehead with her sleeve, Rarity gently pulled a finger towards Spike, quietly, secretively urging him to come to her. He stealthily pulled away from the crowd and silently hopped into Rarity's outstretched arms for another quick nuzzle.

"Mmmm, my Spikey-poo…I've got just the surprise for youuuu…"

She quickly smuggled him upstairs to show him what it was…

Rarity came downstairs a few minutes later, pleasantly finding everyone in the lounge happy and entertained with themselves. Twilight was sharing a wonderful, heartfelt conversation with Trixie, mentioning that it was Spike that helped her open up and gain a new perspective on her situation. Rarity reintroduced herself to Twilight and confirmed just what Trixie said. It was fairly interesting, just within this odd stretch of time, that these two had found a way to bridge the gap between them, just because of a small, warm, thoughtful little mutt. Yet, just as friendship was warming between these two former rivals, Twilight sadly pressed that she had to go, for, she had duties in the other world that required her immediate attention.

Before she left, however, Rarity had a grand surprise for everyone.

"May I please gather your attention?" she said, clapping her hands as a teacher would. "I'm sorry to have kept you all anxious as to my whereabouts and deeds all this morning, but, I assure you, it was not in vain." Rarity turned to the door then and placed an open hand beside her mouth, curving it slightly and making it act as a half-formed trumpet. "Oh Spiiiiiiiiike! Could you come here, please?!" she called. The pitter patter of Spikey's feet soon followed.

With a nice, deep blush across his cheeks, visible even through his fur, Spike entered the doorway to an embarrassing but surely heartfelt chorus of cheers and awe filled 'aww's. He wore a royal red soldier's blouse with a set of navy blue dress trousers. He had a grand, golden sash across his chest and a small dagger, with golden furniture adorned upon its grip, belted across his 'waist'. He was a royal, warm little trooper, surely matching all that he wore, and the room loved him for all he was.

Once again, he leapt into Twilight's arms, who soon gave him a warm, welcoming hug. "…A little much…ya think?" he queried.

Twilight nuzzled her cheek to his. "Not at all." she replied. "It fits you…perfectly."

After a fifteen or so minute drive, with both cars being packed to capacity, everyone was gathered at the Canterlot High statue to bid Twilight and Spike farewell and to come back soon. After a long round of petting, hugging, and nuzzling, which everyone seemed to enjoy quite a lot with the cute little pup, they were finally ready to go. Even Principal Celestia was there to give Spike a sweet kiss farewell and a nuzzle on the nose. As Twilight carried him away and waved goodbye to the tall, pale lady…he couldn't help but think that she had been rather familiar to him before, and fairly recently too, but, he just couldn't put a paw on when. In fact, amidst all the tears and cheers and bidding to come back soon, Spike's keen ears spied a few words mentioned between the two sisters…

"…How long until we can get him back here?" Luna asked Celestia.

"Sooner, rather than later, I hope." Celestia replied. "If we can have more of what we had last night…I just can't wet…" She suddenly lost her composure and blushed a bit when she realized her slip. "That is…I just can't wait."

Luna giggled in reply.

Spike was puzzled, to say the least.

"Here we go, Spike!" Twilight suddenly said, scrubbing Spike's last thoughts from his mind as he began to feel the pull of the vortex squeezing the very atmosphere around him. He clenched his teeth together and squeezed his eyes shut as he waited for the intense, odd sensation of the reality bending tunnel to end…

As the tunnel's forces pushed Twilight back through the end of the void, this time in her and Spike's Equestria, she was knocked senseless by a large, heavy object that seemed to smack her right in the face. She suddenly couldn't see anything in front of her but a shaded wall of purple. A weight in her forward legs made her topple over and, the next thing they knew, both she and Spike tumbled across the floor of her royal library.

"Twilight!" Princess Celestia and Cadence exclaimed as they ran to pick her up.

"Are you…alright?" Cadence asked as Twilight was raised to her hooves.

"Oouhhhhhh…ayeeeee think…soooo…" Twilight said as she steadied herself. Meanwhile…the stars spinning around her head were rather entertaining.

"Ugh…oughhhh…Twilight? What happened?" Spike asked as he rubbed a claw over his large noggin. His orbit of stars and planets were interesting too. He took control of his legs and began to rise to his hooves as well. After recovering from his daze, he noticed feeling a bit…strange. In fact, he recalled just now, as he touched his aching head, that there were things there that, frankly…didn't belong.

"I'm fine…I'm fine." Twilight chanted, finally coming to her senses. She blinked her stars away, only to find that Celestia and Cadence's attention was now squarely set on an object across the room. "What are you…HOHH?!" Twilight gasped, as there was now a rather large, mysterious figure in their midst.

Cadence and Celestia were dumbfounded, their eyes wide open, as well as their mouths. Glancing between them and the figure that stood a short ways away, it was obvious with the stars in their eyes…and the gentle pulsing within their passionately swelling lips behind them, that they were instantly in love. "Hhheh…Who is your friend, dear?" Celestia asked Twilight, as the three of them stood and stared. Even Twilight now felt a nice, gentle pulsing tingle within the depths of her hungry flesh. She wanted to answer the princess, but, indeed, even she wasn't sure.

Spike was greatly worried. He slid his claws all up and down his face…it seemed young still, yet it was obviously more mature than he was used to, and there were three structures that were solid and bone-like that adorned his head. Two of them, obviously horns, twined slightly as they branched straight out of the outer ridges of a proud, triangular, dragonesque face. They wove in slightly towards the crown of his head, as they rose up and away, and then outward more dramatically, as they thinned to a sharp pair of points. The third structure was a horn as well, but, it was armor like and ran straight down from his brow-line and then curved upward and away from his face, halfway down his nose bridge. "W…wwwwwww-w-w-w-what the?!" Spike groaned, his voice still child-like, yet it had a slightly deeper tone to it. Last but certainly not least of his worries was his body…there was more of it. He looked down the length of his chest. It was odd to find that his playful, soldierly uniform was still adorning him, but, it still didn't hide the fact that, where his belly should be, his body seemed to branch into a horse-like persuasion. He had a horse's breast as well as a horse's legs and hooves, and (of course and why not?), he could feel a second pair of legs connected to a large, muscular body behind him. He looked like a young, handsome centaur, muscular and bold, not much unlike Tirek, but, his upper body faded into the image of a fine, young, noble dragon. His uniform sat boldly upon him, colors, sash, and newly morphed sword as well. However, in fright of all that had become of him, "Tuh…TUH…TWIIILIGHHHHT!" he nearly cried for help, shuddering like a leaf on the wind.

The three awestruck ladies were shocked and, obviously, helpless at this new development. As they now recognized the voice that emitted from this tall, draconic stallion before their eyes, they were jarred out of their want for him…at least temporarily, and it was enough for Twilight to answer with the only thing she could think to say:

"…S-Spike? Is that you?!"

The end…

…for now
