Chapter III- Jungle Gang

It was perhaps midday with the rainclouds about to burst and drown this jungle in water. The temple was pyramid of stone stairs with a jungle temple entrance on top; on each end of the center of its four sides it had 2x2x20 stone brick pillars

Sevented and Acacia wanted to watch the location because of the previous patrol. It really didn't take long until the origin of the patrol came around; it was a skeleton with an iron shield, plate and sword. It almost blends in in the structure. We then hid in a bush a few blocks away and started discussing our next move.

"Let's just kill it! It isn't that damn dangerous right?" Fetch whispered.

Then another skeleton came around, that one had a leather cap and a two-handed pixelated tool.

"Holy mother of shits! It has a shotgun!" He said, terrified.

I really didn't knew much about medieval/cave man time stuff but about modern weaponry, I knew enough to know what it was and what a bullet does to a body. Fetch, due to his way of speaking and recognizing a pixelated weapon like that from afar instantly told me he wasn't from the same land that Acacia and Sevented came from.

"Oh crap!" I whispered.

"So… Skyscraper citizen… How do you suggest we get past his weapon?" Sevented inquired, trying to sound a bit like him.

"We have to get there, who knows if it's Terranoia that is ruling over these bones." She remembered.

"All right, all right. Tell me, People! Does anyone have a shield?" Fetch retorted.

"No." Sevented replied right away.

"Acacia, do you know of some of your magic shit that can stop that skeleton?"

"Well I… I have air and ice spells but…"

"Do they work?" He interrupted, like if in a rush.

"Yes they do, but still I believe that…"

"Good! Now use it against it, Sevented and Rendell will take of the knight, we will take care of the one with the weapon, ok people?"

"Yes!" All of us except said that except for Sevented, he didn't said it that loudly.

After our big "yes", the knight turned its head to our direction. Needless to say, we hid right away but the movement made it even more obvious that we were hiding in there.

"Why aren't they burning?" I whispered.

"Helmets!" Sevented answered.

"In 1…2…3…NOW" Fetch shouted.

We jumped out of the bush and running straight to the skeleton. Sevented looked surprised as the knight parried the blows with relative ease, like if it was prepared for them. Fighting on stairs wasn't exactly easy, but still the skeletons looked like they weren't having a problem.

As she was preparing the spell, the gunman aimed the shotgun at her and fired. She turned her spell into a defensive one in the last second to protect her from the blast, but she still looked like she took some of the damage.

Fetch pulled out a bow and started to take aim at the gunman, before he could shoot, the gunman aimed at him and fired again. Fetch shot his arrow sideways and jumped to the ground. He then hissed as the shots landed to the place where he stood a second ago.

Sevented tried to use his sword to cut his enemy's arm off. It was obvious that he was struggling as the fight extended to more than twenty seconds and he was doing more dodging than attacking, it was quite frightening as he's the best sword fighter that we had. I tried joining the fight but Sevented denied, probably because he was worried I'd get hurt. Although he kept saying no he tried to extend the fight to more horizontal ground where I wouldn't have to worry about the stairs.

Acacia conjured a big ball of fire ahead of her and threw it at the reloading skeleton. The fight was now on the structure, and I got scared as more skeletons exited the jungle temple on top.

We were now fighting 5 skeletons, three knights, a shotgun and an SMG. The fireball caught the skeleton off guard and put it both on fire and heavily disorientated. Sevented managed to pin another's sword and with his hand, he knocked its helmet off.

The skeleton's bones started to heat up and caught fire. The knight all it could do was running back to the temple.

"Acacia, use something to knock their helmets off!" Sevented shouted, while he was trying to catch his breath.

The skeletons were though and the SMG was shooting endless volleys that kept me and Acacia running around, ready to catch one in the brain. The fire burnt the shotgun's leather cap and now its user was running around again.

We might survive this, sure it isn't being easy.

*BRUUUM*

And the sickening sound of an incoming tide of endless rain to douse our enemies' flames just hit me. As soon as it came, the fire stopped and now they were fully ready to take us down with the only visible difference is charred bones. They got in formation with a shield ahead of them and their sword ready to stab; they had the grin of victory marked on their skull.

Taking their helmets off was now useless because the rain would stop any fire, we needed a new strategy. As soon the shotgun finished reloading and aimed, Fetch charged at it and tried to wrestle the skeleton. The fight caused the weapon to fire upwards missing everyone, Fetch hit the weakened charred bones and when he grabbed hold of the gun, he hit it with it, tearing it apart and letting the bones come down the stone stairs. The knights were all around us with the SMG reloading.

*PUM*

Fetch successfully shot the one with the SMG shattering it. The rest of the Chosen Fellowship was now fighting the knights while Fetch looted what was left of the skeleton for more rounds.

Acacia pulled out her iron sword and started fighting as well. I actually haven't seen her fighting in a swordfight before and she wasn't all that bad. Sevented obviously didn't want any of us fighting with swords except him and Fetch. Acacia dodged and parried quite a bit, but she looked hesitant to take the offensive and kill the now drenched skeletons, eventually stepping back and letting our best fighter do the kills.

One of them managed to throw a kick and sending me almost in an endless tumble down the stairs. Sevented was doing his best to try and take them all but the charred one was now decided to turn my innards into outwards. Its iron blade sliced the air over and over again with me jumping backwards always trying to not fall off. The moment I reached the stairs, I parried one of its blows and I wrestle it. I tried pinning its sword so it couldn't slice me but the undead apparently weren't all that weak. It took me almost all of my strength to throw it down the stairs and breaking the remains. What was left spread through the jungle grass and some small ruined mossy stone blocks.

I looked behind me and I saw Sevented almost exhausted trying to evade the blows of two skeleton knights. When I was about to go and help him, I heard two shots, shattering one and disorientating the other. Acacia then took the opportunity and decapitated it.

It's over…

I was breathing quite heavily, I saved my blade and I looked around at the wet mess. That wet ground could be the death of us if we weren't careful. I looked around; there were bones and armor pieces everywhere.

"Regroup! I'm sure they aren't done yet." Sevented said, while he picked up a shield.

Fetch was exhibiting his shotgun and a big smile. He walked towards the other gunner and looted the remains.

"Those were some tough skeletons…" Acacia commented.

"It was a knight order of some sort, they aren't from here. And the firearms were imported from the Industrial Paradise, I don't know what we just found but sure isn't good." He replied, worried.

"At least we can now shoot the fuckers to bits!" Fetch gushed while he was examining the SMG like if it was the only thing in the world.

Sevented picked up the iron shield and equipped it, just in case.

I walked up to them, the group was now together. We quickly ate a steak, some water and looked at the entrance, whatever was inside knew that we were coming and they would surely put up a fight.

Fight scene episode hurray! Not much to tell here except that I introduced the first fantasy breaking elements. Firearms are cool and Fetch likes them too! He fetches any one that he can find.. Now other things… A few of my flaws that I'm trying to fix are (once again) dialogue, Fight scene descriptions (I admit I forgot for a moment that the stairs weren't there) and giving life to journey episodes(They are mostly used for point A to B). In journey episodes I'm trying to give more talk about life and develop the characters since I'm having plenty of opportunities. I tried making some journey moments like the one time Fetch got a new skin color back on A-2 C-I .

It is being a fun and educational time for me to write this, and I guess since you made it here, you're enjoying it as well. Reviewing helps a lot even if it's just a short comment or similar and as always... Cya on the next chaptah!
