Finnick made himself at home on Silver's bed, stretching out his long body and resting his head on his arms which were folded above his head.

'So then…tribute. Let's mentor.' Finnick said, wiggling his eyebrows in a comical, flirty fashion that caused Silver to burst out with laughter.

'Seriously, though. I need to help you.' Finnick said after Silvers laughter had died down. 'I'm going to give you a scenario and you have to tell me what you would do in that situation.'

'Okay.' Silver agreed.

'You're standing on the podium; the counter is ticking down from 10 now. In the centre of the tributes, there is the cornucopia, where there is a large stack of resources like weapons, food, medicine. The klaxon sounds as the countdown is over. What do you do?'

'Well…I guess I would get some weapons, food and medicine.' Silver shrugged.

'No!' Finnick said, raising his voice. 'No.' He repeated, more softly. 'Have you ever seen the count down at the beginning of a Hunger Games?'

'No.'

'Well…there's always a big bloodbath. That's where most of the deaths happen. It's not worth the risk of getting killed.' Finnick said sternly. 'When the klaxon sounds, you will run away, hide near the cornucopia. You will find shelter, near a water supply and stay there until everyone has settled down.' Finnick ordered. 'I will get your supplies through sponsors. I've already sorted out a few.' Finnick said.

'Is that what you were doing today?' Silver asked.

'Yes.'

'How did you get people to sponsor me?'

'It doesn't matter.' Finnick said, turning to look away.

'Yes it does Finn! I want to know.' Silver said. 'You slept with them, didn't you?' She asked in a small voice.

'I said it doesn't matter.' Finnick said more strongly.

'Finnick, don't do that for me. Please. I'll get sponsors myself…in the interviews. You don't have to do that.' I said softly, resting my arm on his shoulder.

'I just…I can afford to lose you Silver.' Finnick said. 'I can't afford to lose anyone else.'

'I'll try my best, Finn. You know I will. Just…don't get any false hope.' Silver said sadly.

'Nest scenario.'

'Finn.' Silver hesitated.

'I said next scenario. You wake up the next morning and everyone seems to have settled down. What do you do?'

'Well I would go and find water and food.'

'Good. Look out for other tributes. Explore the arena so you know the hiding spots.'

'Is that what you did?' Silver asked Finn.

'No…no I was a career.' Finn replied. 'I stayed at the cornucopia until the career pack turned on each other. I killed the careers that tried to kill me and ran away.' Finnick said softly. He was staring at Silver with haunted eyes, as though he was reliving every horror and trauma all over again. Without thinking about it Silver turned and wrapped her arms around Finnick's broad shoulders. He became tense at first but eventually relaxed into her, burying his face in the crook of her neck.

'I know you're worried about me and…you're right. I'm going to suck in the hunger games. I'm not strong enough to kill anybody. I'm not determined enough to last days without food and water. I'm not smart enough to think up a game plan. But I have got one advantage; I'm from the Capitol. I know what the people of the Capitol want to see. I can win them over, Finn.' Silver promised.

'Don't join the careers, Silver. They change who you are. They turn you into a killer.' Finnick said urgently.

'I won't. Glitch asked me to join today but I refused his offer.'

'That's…not good.' Finnick said, in deep thought.

'Why not?'

'Because it means that they have taken an interest in you. Sometimes it's best to go through the games unnoticed. Did you ever watch Johanna's game?' Finnick asked.

'No.'

'Well she's a damn good actress. She acted weak and helpless all throughout this stage of the process and then once she reached the games, she turned out to be a vicious killer.'

'I'm not a vicious killer.' Silver said with a slight smile.

'I'm not saying that. I mean that how you appear now can determine how you will do in the games. Just don't make any enemies.'

'I'll try my best.' Silver smiled.

'You want to get something to eat?' Finnick asked quietly.

'Do you even have to ask?' Silver said, smiling comfortingly as the two of us went back into the main room.

'Did you have a good talk?' Nesta asked from the couch. She was sitting with Reed watching some show about the Hunger Games.

'Yes.' Silver replied, going straight to the bowl of sweets.

'Do you ever stop eating?' Reed scorned in disgust.

'Reed's right, dear. If you carrying on like that, you won't be able to fit in you dress.' Nesta said.

'That's ridiculous. Silver can eat what she wants.' Finnick exclaimed.

'Right now, obesity doesn't seem a bad way to die either.' Silver joked and helped herself to another sugar cube.

'We're going to die in a couple of days and all you ever do is joke and act all cute and adorable around anyone who looks your way. Here's the thing Lana, you may be cute and adorable but that won't stop anyone from slitting your throat in the Hunger Games. Rabbits may be cute and fluffy but that doesn't stop the Capitol from skinning them and cooking them for dinner. Just drop the act!' Reed shouted. That was the most Silver had ever heard him speak and it shocked her.

'That's enough, Reed.' Finnick warned.

'Oh just stay out of it Odair. It's obvious that Lana's your favourite. You would happily trade my life for hers anyway. Don't pretend otherwise.' Reed sneered.

'That's not true!' Finnick exclaimed although deep down he knew Reed was right.

'Yes it is. If you put that much effort into all your tributes then maybe none of them would die!' Reed yelled.

'Does the name Lilly-Ann ring any bells, Odair?' Reed said viciously.

Finnick faltered and stopped. 'Lilly-Ann. She was my tribute.' He said quietly. 'How do you know her.'

'She was my sister.' Reed said. Silver wasn't sure but she was sure she could see a tiny shimmer in Reed's eyes from where there tears were welling up.

'Reed…I'm sorry…'Finnick said softly. 'There was nothing I could do. I tried my best.'

'No you didn't. Maybe if you cared about my sister as much as you care about Lana, she would still be alive today.' Reed said and stormed off into his room.

The rest of them sat in silence for a long while, none of them sure of what to say.

'I'm going to go downstairs and find Vincent.' Nesta said, breaking the silence. She excused herself and then quietly made her exist

'I should go talk to him.' Finnick sighed after a while.

'No…I think you should give him some space.' Silver replied.

'I try to save everybody, Silver.' Finnick said. He sounded broken, like a lost boy.

'I know.'

'No you don't. You don't understand. Mentors…we try are hardest to save our tributes but there's only one winner at the end of it. You don't understand how it is, watching one of your own getting murdered. It's all my fault.' Finnick said.

'No, Finn. It's not your fault. If Reed or I die in the games, no one will blame you. Please don't blame yourself.' Silver said, taking his hand in hers.

'You don't understand.' Finnick muttered.
