Author's note: Alright, so much like many of my other stories, it's been too long since I updated. Unlike my other stories, which are centered on the buffyverse, this isn't as angry but is intent on focusing how to change the "fate" of the characters as presented in my stories. Because as my good friend OneHorseShay has said in one of our recent discussions, destiny/fate/prophecy that focuses sole on individuals, as opposed to prophecies such as the ones telling the coming of Jesus (aka God the Son), are more like self-fulfilled prophecies. In Buffy, she died mainly because she walked into the Master's lair but didn't think she'd be one to release him. Jasmine nearly took over because everyone was duped but Angel never really thought things out because he was upset about losing the girl. Gabriel was consistently pushed by Fate (not God) into his role. And Sam and Dean had Michael and Lucifer pushing them around since day one. In other words, this is characters coming together and defying being forced into doing anything. With that being said, here is the epilogue of this story.
Throne Room
Heaven
Michael, God's greatest archangel, arrived in the throne room. The room in Heaven was said to be indescribable to the humans who find themselves, so they can only picture the most beautiful garden they could imagine. For the moment, it took on the appearance of the Garden of Eden as the celestial being appeared as a tall middle-eastern man with long, brunette hair. He approached the throne that happened to be empty. Michael believed this would be the case as he somehow had not seen God since the rebellion. However, he found that he was not alone as he was accompanied by another angel. This one was not as powerful but appeared as an older black man with a salt and pepper beard.
"Hello," the other angel said.
Michael looked hard at the subordinate angel before he replied, "Joshua. What are you doing here?"
The angel simply smiled at his superior. "I'm just here as the middleman...for the boss."
"That's not possible. He hasn't been around for along time," Michael threw back.
"Well, it seems He wants to have a word with you. Pretty urgent from the sound of His voice," Joshua said as the smile left his face.
"So where is He?" the elder celestial asked. The second he finished his question, the garden suddenly became filled with more light than anyone thought possible. However, from what he could tell, there were three lights that surrounded him. He could no longer see the garden or Joshua. All he could see was the Holy Trinity that was God.
"Father," Michael whispered.
"What do you have to say for yourself Michael?" the Father asked the archangel.
"I was only trying to be a good son. I did what You asked," the archangel pleaded.
"Yes you did. But...what you and your brothers and sisters under your command intended was not what I asked."
"I was going to bring paradise but battling Lucifer! I was going to do what you intended!" Michael spat back.
"NO! The paradise I sought to bring about was not to be brought on by the blood of humans, many of which would've been innocent! Lucifer hating humanity and intending to end them was more than enough reason to cast him out. But you...who was my most faithful, dare to sacrifice much of My creation because you want to settle a score! You hijacked the plan for your own gain!"
"I was always the good son! I always obeyed you! Why are you rejecting me?!" Michael demanded.
"I have never rejected you. But you taking control of the plan just to prove a point and sacrificing others cannot stand. That's why you need to learn a harsh lesson my son."
"But Father..." Michael trailed as I had long feared the idea of being cast out as Lucifer was.
"Enough! The Father has already passed his sentence. You will be cast down. And you will learn what is it means to be like the other humans," the Son commanded.
Before the eldest archangel could say anymore, he immediately felt his innate power take a sharp decline. The light from the Holy Trinity grew even brighter.
Michael felt as if the ground below him suddenly disappeared. He felt himself falling at a rate that was impossible by human terms. From what he could see, he had fallen through the space of the atmosphere and was in the dark skies of the earth. The next thing he knew, he finally hit the ground on the planet. He could immediately feel pain, which he had never known from the times that he had visited the world of humans. He knew that only angels on the same tier as himself, or their weapons could hurt him. But his body was telling him that pain coursed throughout. As he looked around, he saw what appeared to be a two-lane road that led into a town. Oddly enough, the sign at the entrance said "Welcome to Sunnydale".
"So what do you think?" came the voice of the God.
"Why do I feel so weak?" the angel said.
"It's as I said, you're going to learn how it feels to be like the humans you intended to be cannon fodder. In this town is a portal to the underworld which attracts a number of the half breed demons."
"So You would leave me defenseless?" Michael snapped.
"Do you take me for those capricious false gods? You've got more than enough power to take o whatever comes at you. But it won't be the scale of power you once knew. You'll hear from me soon enough. Farewell...for now."
Michael felt God's presence leave him and he ventured into the town. Michael's face held a stern expression as he walked through the town. He could sense the energies permeating the air and how those energies seemed to affect many of the people in the town.
He was surprised when he suddenly ran into a fairly short blonde girl. She had dropped items from her arms when they bumped into her, which he noticed she was pretty strong for a human. He decided to be polite and help her gather her things. The girl began rattling off about how clumsy she was but he barely paid any attention. As he looked at her, he noticed a black aura that seemed to hang around her but was restrained by something.
"Anyway, I'm so sorry about that. I really should watch where I'm going," the girl said.
"It's alright. I should've been doing the same. That town seems so...small," the fallen angel said.
"You get used to it...or don't. By the way, what's your name?" the girl asked.
"You can call me Michael. Michael...Landon. And your's?" he said.
"I'm Buffy Summers."
Author's note: this is a very short epilogue but I think it's a nice cliffhanger for the story before I start the next one. It might be some time before I start the next one. I can't say when but I can guarantee it will happen. I originally had a different idea for what was going to happen with Michael. But I didn't think the story needed to be any more dramatic than it should be. Also, I still have some other tie-ins that I need to work on and my schedule with two jobs (or one job and a starting career) will be a bit tough. Anyway, stick around for the next story, Hand of Fate IV Exodus.
