Heart of the Sherriff

Fourteen: Rushing Hearts

The Phone rang and Arianna was shaking as she answered the phone, she didn't even check.

"H…Hello?" she tried not to sob out but it came.

"Arianna are you alright?" it was Alberto on the other side.

"Yes." She told him.

"Bullshit." Alberto said. "I hear you crying, why are you crying?"

"J...just the cold Alberto you know I don't like being sick." Arianna told him even though it was a lie and both of them knew it.

"Okay, so are you coming for the show I moved it for three months from now." He told her.

"Really? Why?" Arianna asked.

"Yeah, I just can't finish something." Alberto told her. "You're going to come with your Sherriff, right?" he asked and he heard the low sob and he knew.

"Um…I don't know he has to work." She told him. "He is such a workaholic.

"Well I guess I wanted to make sure, drink some tea to make it better, I'll call you in a few days." He told her.

"Okay." She said.

"That son of bitch did something." Alberto said.

"What did you say sir?" Ricardo asked.

"Get the plane ready as soon as possible; I need to get to California." Alberto told him. "Arianna is hiding something and I have a feeling I know what it is."

"Are you sure?" Ricardo asked.

"How long does it take to get over a cold, especially Arianna?" Alberto asked him.

"She drowns herself in medicine." Ricardo told him.

"Exactly, I've called and asked about the cold, it's weird, and she isn't saying something." Alberto told him.

"I'll get try to get the plane ready as fast as I can." Ricardo told him. "But I can't cancel your appointments."

"As fast as I can leave." Alberto told him. "Thank you."

$LINE BREAK, LINE BREAK$

Wade and the rest of the man working were trying not to get into the Sherriff's Office. They knew by Stephen's face that he was pissed off. It had been two days since it happened and for the last two days he had been like this.

"What do you think it's his problem?" Daniel asked.

"I have a feeling it has something to do with Arianna." Wade whispered.

"You think she broke it off?" Daniel asked.

"No I think they just got into a fight." Wade said. When the door opened they expected to see Arianna, they did not expect to see John coming with a huge smile on his face.

"Hey, guys what's going on?" John asked them.

"I wouldn't go into the Office, Sherriff is in a pissed off mood." Wade told him.

"Now that isn't right." John said. "I'll see you later." John said opened the door before closing it.

"You think they will be a fight?" Daniel asked.

"Oh yeah, who do you think wins." Wade asked.

"I bet on John." Ted told them.

Stephen didn't want to think at all, he didn't want to know when Arianna was leaving. So no he hadn't gone to see if the car was there. Who was he kidding he had gone the past two days through the apartment complex to see if the car was still there. He buried himself in his paperwork, which Arianna knew he didn't like as much. Damn he needed to stop thinking about her. When the door opened there was hope in his hear that maybe Arianna would come in and it would be her, he would hear.

"Really your moping." Was the question John asked?

"What the hell do you want John?" Stephen asked and John heard the bite to his words.

"Well the entire family has been waiting for the news?" John told him. Stephen looked up at him.

"All of you knew?" Stephen asked. John looked at him.

"Well, Mickie told me, Kelly told Randy and they girls told Jaylee who told our parents." John told him.

"Really, so all of you knew about Arianna." Stephen said and he was getting angry.

"Mickie had some idea." John said.

"Really and none of you bothered to let me know." Stephen screamed out.

"Really like if we were going to tell you that Arianna is pregnant, I think that is for she to tell you." John told him. He saw the shock look on Stephen's face. "Shit, she hasn't told you."

"Pregnant?!" Stephen's said and suddenly there's a dark pit in his stomach at what he had told her. The fact that she had been trying to talk to him.

"Shit, shit I thought she had told you." John told him. "All the family though both of you were hiding in your home being lovey and stuff."

"I yelled at her." Stephen said sitting down and John looked at him.

"Excuse me, did you just say you screamed at the woman who is having your child." John told him. "Why the hell would you do that?"

"I…I thought." Stephen couldn't finish as he hid his face in his hands. "Oh God." John sighs and sits down. He knew from Mickie that Arianna hadn't been answering the phone and it had worried her hence the reason he had come as well.

"Okay, explain." John tells him.

"I went back to her place two days ago and found the book on her table the one she had been writing."

"Endless Law." John said and saw the look on Stephen's face. "Mickie is her best friend for God's sakes."

"So, we hadn't talked about what would happen and I thought she was going to leave without telling me she had been fixing her suitcase, I also saw a plane ticket only one." Stephen told him.

"Did you let her explain?" John asked.

"No I was too mad and I panicked since..." Stephen said but he just showed John the box.

"Oh." John tells him. "Well go fix it." John tells him.

"She might have left yet, she wasn't staying here."

"God both of you are idiots I swear." John tells him. "Arianna bought the apartment as in its hers, she was going to stay here now she was talking about opening an office here, which Mickie and I understood for she wanted to stay because of you."

"Really/" Stephen asked.

"Yes, you idiot. She wanted to surprise you with the book your birthday is in a week." John tells him. "Now I'm going to leave and you better go fix the problem I expect to hear both of you will be getting married by tomorrow."

"John, Thanks." Stephen said.

"You're my little brother I think it's my job to fix things when you're being stupid." John tells him.

Arianna had gone out for a drive. It had been two days and she had ignored almost everyone taking her vitamins like the Doctor had said and eating properly. She needed to think and know what to do after all. She needed to talk to Stephen, if he didn't listen well she could go back to Alberto he would understand and would back her in her decisions. She also was craving something from this Chinese food place she had seen or rather smelled.

"Pregnancy is going to be weird." She told no one. She decided to stop at bakery on her way as well.

What she didn't know was that someone was in her apartment knocking on the door.

"Arianna." Stephen said. He knocked again and before he pounded the door in he heard someone. He looked to see an old woman coming downstairs. He knew her wall Mrs. Harris she was one of the nicest woman in town.

"Hello Sherriff." She told him.

"Hello, why aren't you taking the elevator, Mrs. Harris." He said.

"This old woman needs her exercise." Mrs. Harris told him. She looked at the door and gave him a sad smile.

"Honey you missed her, she left a few hours ago she had a bag." She told him and touched his shoulder. "Good luck." She told him and left to the elevator. Stephen just stood there and had his back to the door.

'She had left, she left.' It kept going through his mind. He had messed up and she left. Not only that but she had his child with her. He sat on the ground. He heard the elevator door opened. He looked up to see Arianna coming his way but she had her eyes close eating an ice-cream cone. She opened her eyes and looked at him, she was surprised. Stephen just got up walked up to her and pulled her to him hugging her tight and it caused her to drop her ice-cream. He pulled her off and she looked at him.

"Step…" she didn't get to finish because Stephen kissed her and it was quiet a fierce kiss. She returned it and Stephen had her so close that not even a piece of paper could get through them. When he pulled away he kissed her forehead, her cheeks, and her nose. Finally he stopped and looked at her.

"You are never allowed to leave." He told her.

"Excuse me." she told him, she totally blamed the hormones. "I can leave whenever I want, now if you excuse me I have to go to my apartment, if you came just to be macho than I don't need…" she didn't get to finish again because Stephen kissed her again.

"Ah-she gasp-Stephen what is going on, two days ago you hated me." she told him.

"No I didn't." Stephen said and wanted to touch her stomach, knowing it would grow soon with his child. Arianna looked at him and even if she loved been in his arms she needed answers.

"Fine let me get the door open; I also have to clean the ice-cream off the floor you know actually like the ice-cream." Arianna said going inside the apartment. She came outside and he helped her clean the ice-cream, well technically he didn't let her bent down.

Arianna was worried, did he just come to kiss her and then tell her off. God she really needed the ice-cream to think. She didn't know what to think.

"Arianna." Stephen began. She was getting ready, what she did not expect him to do was for he to hold her. "I'm sorry."

"What?" she said.

"I'm sorry." He told her. "I'm sorry about the things I told you, I was hurt I thought you were just going to leave me like that. You told me you were going to just leave after the book was done and I saw the plane ticket."

"I'm sorry too I should have told you about the book being done." She told him. "I should have explained."

"The ticket." He told her.

"I was actually waiting for another one, Kelly was supposed to get it, it was to go to my brother's art show he moved it, I was going to invite you." Arianna told him.

"Oh, sorry." Stephen said. Arianna looked at him with narrowed eyes thinking on how to tell him.

"Stephen we also need to talk about something else." She told him.

"Uh-huh." Stephen said and he was trying to hold the smile off his face but it wouldn't disappear. Arianna looked at him.

"Who told you?" she asked. "If you're here just because off…" before she got to finish Stephen got a box in-front of her face. She stopped and looked at him with wide eyes.

'That night I was here to give you this." he told her. "Okay, now there is a bigger reason-he touched her stomach and there was a huge smile on his face-but I wanted to ask you, you know I've carried the ring for two weeks in my pocket thinking of a way to tell you." There were tears in her eyes already and he cleaned them.

"It's the hormones." She told him and Stephen chuckled.

"Arianna, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Stephen asked her and bent down to look at her.

"I didn't think you would bend down." She told him.

"Well it is you and you've changed many things here." He told her.

"Yes." She told him and kissed him, when they finally broke apart he touched her stomach.

"You know we should get married really fast, so we can go home." Stephen said.

"Let's go home Stephen." She told him.

"I love you." He told her.

"I love you too." she told him.
