Chapter Fourteen: Unexpected Visitor

"Olivia I still think we should've told you parents." Fitz said, as he and Olivia walked into the apartment.

"Fitz it's none of their business." Olivia rolled her eyes, for what felt like the tenth time in the last twenty minutes. She was tired of having this back and forth conversation that was going nowhere.

"It is their business Olivia, you're their daughter."

"Yeah, and I get that. But I'm a grown ass woman, and I don't have to tell mommy and daddy every little thing that goes on in my life."

"This isn't just some little thing Livvie." Fitz said in a serious tone. He was tired of Olivia downplaying the problem, as if it was nothing. "Your crazy ex-husband has been stalking you for- we don't even know how long he's been watching you. And you say it's no big deal?"

"I never said it wasn't a big deal."

"Well you're sure as hell acting like it."

"Could you not curse at me in front of my daughter?" Olivia said, although McKenzie wasn't paying them an ounce of attention. When they got home, she went straight to the couch, watching the TV they left on when they left that morning. She hadn't had her nap today, and with the amount of food she ate, followed by all the running around with Fitz in the back yard she was bone tired. But she would fight it until she could no longer hold her eyelids open.

Fitz sighed, he didn't mean to curse. He knew how Olivia felt about cursing in front of McKenzie, although she slipped sometimes as well. "I'm sorry."

"Thank you." Olivia said, as she began to walk away. But before she could go anywhere Fitz grabbed her by her elbow and brought her back to him.

"That wasn't the end of the conversation. We still need to talk about this."

"Baby." Olivia whined, if she was being honest, she was just as tired as McKenzie was and was in serious need of a nap herself. "Why do we have to keep talking about this? What are my parents gonna do anyway? It's not like they're the police. Please, I just don't want to worry them about this right now. If something happens, I'll tell them. Something worth telling them. We don't even know what's gonna happen. For all we know, he could just be trying to spook me. Until something news worthy happens, can we please just keep this between us? Please?" Olivia pouted.

"Fine." Fitz reluctantly growled. "But we're going to the police station, and getting a restraining order."

"Okay."

"And from now on, I don't want you going anywhere by yourself."

"What? But Fi-"

"Uh-uh, no buts. You want to keep this between us, then we do things my way."

"But baby, isn't that a little extreme? I mean what are you gonna do follow me around everywhere I go? You do have a job remember."

"Olivia I am my own boss, of a restraint chain I might add. I only go in when there's a problem, and to a couple of meetings."

"Babyyyy." Olivia whined again.

"Don't baby me. Now since you refuse to drive any of my cars to school, I will be taking you and picking you up. I can take Kenzie over to your parents as well when you have school. Especially those night classes. I hate that you have to take them anyway, they shouldn't keep you until ten at night. I don't like you having to be out that late at night."

"Okay fine. But what if I say I'll start driving one of your many cars."

Fits shook his head. "Nope too late." Fitz said, before he kissed her forehead, and smacked her butt on his way to the bedroom.

True to his word, Olivia nor McKenzie were ever alone. They were always in the company of Fitz, and given the chance that he had something important to do at the restaurant, he arranged for either one or all of her friends to come over and stay with her. He knew he was being a little overbearing and was skating into warden territory, but to Fitz he was justified, and frankly he just didn't care. If it kept her safe, then so be it. Especially since the cops were no help. They had gone Monday to get a restraining order out on Michael. But they told them that they didn't have grounds for a restraining order. Olivia told the officers all about her history and marriage with Michael, and they looked as if they sympathized, but still wouldn't give them a restraining order. The officer said they didn't have any evidence, Michael had never approached them, and hadn't threatened them in any way. And since Olivia threw out the note he sent to her, they had no way of even showing Michael had been anywhere near her. They had nothing, and were gonna get nothing. The cop sent them home, and told them to come back if they had any more problems. Fitz was pissed, "What's the point in us coming back, if you're just gonna tell us the same bullshit!"

That was Monday, and it was now Friday afternoon. Luckily they hadn't had more problems, but the fact that it had been so quiet only made Olivia more nervous. Whereas Fitz took it as a sign that maybe Michael had moved on, Olivia knew better. She knew Michael, and knew he was planning something. Now it was just a matter of time, to hope that you could see in the future and hope to stop the wreckage that was coming. But everyone knows you can't stop the inevitable.

Olivia was walking out her class, going to meet Fitz who should be waiting for her in the car. She would normally have a night class on Fridays, but it was cancelled. So she and Fitz were gonna have a late lunch and get her dress from the boutique for tomorrow night. Olivia had had so much on her mind that she had forgotten about the charity gala tomorrow. She as excited, this would be a good chance for both she and Fitz to unwind and forget about all the drama for one night. And not only that, she was also excited to wear her dress and even more excited for Fitz to see her in it.

She was just about to walk to the form of the building, when she heard someone calling her name. It was faint, but she heard it. She stopped and turned around to find the person, but she didn't see anyone. She could feel her palms getting sweaty, and her pulse quicken. She was turning around, to hurriedly make her way to Fitz, when she bumped into someone. She screamed out, and jumped back and out of the person's arms.

"Shit, Olivia I didn't mean to scare you."

"Stephen?" Olivia asked, finally able to see the person's face. "What the hell? You scared me half to death." Olivia clutched her chest, trying to calm her breathing. Stephen was one of her classmates, they met during their second year, but really hadn't gotten to know each other. They just recently formed a friendship, when they found out they were in some of the same classes this year. To Olivia their relationship was strictly platonic. Sure he was a good looking guy, but she never thought of him in that way, even before she met Fitz. He just never striked her as more than anything but a friend. Stephen on the other hand had convinced himself that they were in love. He had tried overtime, to get her to go out on a date with him, and she would always say no. But that didn't stop him from shamefully flirting with her every chance he got. They had a playful banter between them that he loved. He had never let loose and be himself with any other woman like he could with Olivia.

"I'm sorry, you were just walking so fast I couldn't catch up to you." Stephen apologized, "You left your notebook. I know you'd die without your notes."

"Oh shit, thank you. I have to study for that test, and I would have been lost without this."

"No problem." Stephen shifted awkwardly, "So how have you been? You've seemed a little down lately?"

"Down?" Olivia asked, she hadn't realized he had been watching her so intently. "What do you mean?"

"Oh I just… you just don't seem like yourself lately. I mean normally you're the loudest one in class, first to answer every question. Now you barely saw a word. What happen to little miss bookworm." Stephen joked, he could tell the Olivia was a little put off by the fact that he was watching her.

"I'm fine. I've just been stressing a little, nothing big."

"You sure it's nothing? I don't need to hurt anyone for you do I?" Stephen joked again.

"I'll hold you up on that offer." Olivia started to walk away, to meet Fitz in the parking lot. "Thanks again for bringing me my notebook."

"Hey Olivia." Stephen called out before she could get too far away. "I don't want you to have to ride the bus, can I give you a ride home?" He asked, as he made a light jog over to her.

"Oh that's not necessary."

"You sure? I can put the top down." Stephen said, referring to the brand new convertible his grandfather bought him. Stephen wasn't a rich man, but he was spoiled by his rich parents and grandparents. Olivia always wondered why he was going to school to become a nurse, he just didn't seem like the type.

"Yeah I'm sure, my boyfriend is picking me up. We're going to lunch."

Olivia's back was toward him, so she didn't catch the look of disappointment and anger on Stephen's face, when he learned she was taken.

"You- you have a boyfriend?"

"Yeah." Olivia had barely gotten the word out, when she saw Fitz coming up to her.

Fitz had been running a little late, due to a phone call. So when he finally hung up, he rushed over to the school. He parked, and eventually saw Olivia walking through the courtyard, but there was a man following behind her. It looked as if she was trying to walk away from him, but he just kept catching up to her and starting new conversations. He just figured he was one of her classmates, so he waited patiently in the car for her to come over. But then he saw how the man looked at Olivia's ass, as she walked in front of him, and his blood boiled. He had never been the jealous type, but that was all before he met Olivia. Now he felt that he had to go make sure this man new Olivia was taken, that she was HIS girl.

"Livvie" Fitz called out, as he walked over to Olivia and Stephen.

"Hey baby." Olivia smiled, and went to peck Fitz on the lips, but he had other plans. AS soon as he had her in his reach, he wrapped one arm around her waist, pulling her into him, while the other held her face steady. He knew it was a little petty and overdone, but he didn't care. He could feel Stephen shooting daggers at him, as he held Olivia closer and slipped his tongue into her mouth, eliciting a small moan from Olivia. And only when Fitz sensed they were reaching the breaking point to soft porn, he finally pulled back.

"Hi." Fitz smiled down at her.

"Hi." Olivia replied, when she finally got breath back into her lings. They'd talk about that kiss later. They were still lost in their own little world, when Stephen subtly cleared his throat.

"Oh! Fitz baby this is Stephen Finch, he's in a couple of my classes this semester. Stephen this is my boyfriend Fitz Grant."

"Grant?" Stephen asked, "As in Grant the chef and restaurant chain Grant?"

"Yeah." Fitz replied sticking his hand out.

"Wow, I feel like I'm meeting my first celebrity. My uh my mom and dad love your restaurant. My mom bought your cookbook last Christmas, and she's been forcing my dad to help her cook everything in it."

"Well I'm glad she liked it. And the next time she comes by the restaurant, I'll be sure to stop by and say hello."

"Oh babe, we should get going, if we're gonna stop for a bite, before we get my dress."

"It was nice meeting you." Fitz shook Stephen's hand, adding a little more grip than necessary. Then he took Olivia's bag and books, and they made their way to the car.

"Mmm I didn't realize how hungry I was 'til we got here." Olivia moaned, as she put another forkful of chicken Caesar salad in her mouth. "This is really good." Olivia said of the pink lemonade she was having with her meal. She noticed Fitz was being a little quiet, he had been quiet since they left the school. "Hey babe you okay? You're a little quiet."

"What's the deal with you and that Stephen guy?" Fitz asked, getting straight to the point.

"The deal? What do you mean?"

"You two ever date?" Fitz asked bluntly. The conversation was staying light, due to the amusement on both of their faces. Fitz found it funny that some guy thought he could compete with him. And Olivia thought Fitz being jealous was funny.

"No, why do you ask?" Olivia asked, sipping her wine, to hide her smiling face.

"Because I don't like the way he looks at you." Fitz said in a now serious tone.

"Oh and how is that?" Olivia asked, with a smirk on her face.

"Like he wants a piece of my Livvie."

"Your Livvie?" Olivia asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, my Livvie. I don't like to share."

"Are you jealous baby?" Olivia smirked, and slid across the booth. She slid next to him, and crossed her leg on top of his. She leaned over, so she was whispering in his ear, "Because if you were, that would be absolutely ridiculous." Olivia kissed his jaw, before whispering, "You know there is only one man that gets Ms. Kitty ready to play." Olivia bit Fitz' earlobe, before sucking it in her mouth.

Fitz quietly groaned, making sure not to be hear by anyone. He slid he hand up Olivia's leg that was thrown over his. He slowly made his way up her thigh, thankful that she decided to wear a dress today.

"Yeah and you better remember that."

"Oh I will." The two didn't separate until they heard a throat clearing. They looked up and saw their waitress standing awkwardly at the table.

"Um can I get you anything else?" She asked, her face a little blushed; she was clearly embarrassed.

"No that'll be all." Fitz answered, before pulling put his wallet and paying the bill, leaving a nice tip for the waitress. After they paid for their meal, they made their way over to the dress shop to pick up Olivia's dress. After the dress shop, they made a quick stop at Olivia's parents to pick up McKenzie then made their way home.

X

"No! I don't wanna!" McKenzie yelled at Fitz for the third time. It was around 7:30 and Olivia and Fitz were getting dressed for the gala, and McKenzie was not too thrilled about having to stay home with Quinn. Olivia was still in the bedroom, getting dressed while Fitz, who was already dressed was trying to get McKenzie to calm down and get on-board with staying with Quinn.

"Princess you're gonna have fun with Auntie Quinn okay? You can watch movies, and eat popcorn and chocolate milk." Fitz bent down and picked her up. "And if you promise not to tell mommy, I'll show you were the M&M's are." McKenzie's eyes brightened and widened at the mention of M&M's. They were her favorite, and Olivia didn't let her eat them too often. "We got a deal?" Fitz asked, and Kenzie shook her head up and down. "That's my girl." He kissed her forehead, and passed her over to Quinn, who was smiling, shaking her head.

"Liv's gonna get you."

"Only if you tell her." Fitz looked down at his watch. "Anyway, if she doesn't hurry up, we won't be going anywhere."

Olivia was putting the final touches to her makeup, when she heard Fitz call her from the hallway. A moment later he walked in the room. She turned to face him, and smiled.

"Wow." He said, and smiled widely at her, taking in her dress. She hadn't let him see it before, and this was his first time seeing it. She fell in love with it the moment the lady brought it form the back. It was a shirt and skirt combo rather than a dress. The top was a white halter top with thick straps that criss-crossed in the back, it showed most of her back and a small portion of her stomach. The skirt was a form fitting peach colored floor length gown, that she paired with a pair of white platform pumps. She remembered seeing it in some magazine, People maybe. She saw Sarah Hyland wore it to the 2014 Emmy's. She loved the rose peach color on the skirt, and the halter top, was tasteful, making sure not to show too much. It was sexy and playful, but still sophisticated. And most importantly she felt beautiful in it. And if she had any doubt before, they was Fitz was looking at her right now, just washed them completely away.

"Livvie."

"You like?"

"Baby you look beautiful." He walked over to her, and put his hands on her waist. "I'm not letting you out of my sight the entire night."

"I'm glad you like it." Olivia turned in his arms, to face the mirror. She had decided instead of a high bun, that she would braid her hair in a messy French braid hanging on her right shoulder. She decided on light natural makeup and her diamond stud earrings. Olivia checked one last time in the mirror, and wiped a smudge of lipstick form the corner of her mouth.

"Okay, I'm ready." She turned back to Fitz with a smile.

Fitz held up his finger, "Almost. There's still something missing."

Olivia looked at him in confusion, as Fitz went over to his briefcase. "What? What am I missing?"

"This." Fitz handing her a black box he got out of his briefcase.

"What is it?" Olivia asked.

"Open it and find out." Fitz smiled, and held his breath as Olivia tentatively opened the box, praying that she would like what was inside.

Olivia slowly opened the box, and gasped when she finally had it completely opened and saw what was inside. "Fitz." She whispered, barely being able to speak. Inside was a white gold eternity diamond necklace and bracelet to match. Olivia had never seen so many diamonds in her life. She was stuck she could accept this, could she? She knew that this in no way was inexpensive. She hated the thought that Fitz thought he had to go spend his money on her. She was a materialistic woman, and the last thing she wanted was for him to think that she was after his money.

"I was in the store, and I told the woman at the counter that I wanted something for special, for the special woman in my life. I told her I wanted something classic but bold, just like my Livvie. Nothing to flashy. And then I saw this, I couldn't decide if I want ted to get you the necklace or the bracelet, so I just got both."

"Fitz-" Olivia started to protest, but Fitz cut her off.

"Now before you start on your little speech about how you can't accept this I'm telling you you can and you will. Never have I ever thought you were taking me for granted, I do what I do for you because I love you, and you deserve it. And I know you think it's too expensive, but it isn't. That's for me to worry about, all you have to do is accept it okay."

Olivia looked at him, with watery eyes. Sis he say I love you? Olivia though. She knew she loved him and hoped he felt the same way, but neither had ever say the three magic words neither had expressed those feelings until now. And she couldn't help the cheesy grin that spread on her face hearing those three words. She just needed to hear them again.

"Did you just say you loved me?" Olivia asked looking up at him. Even in her high heels, Fitz still towered over her.

Fitz grinned, and cupped her face with both hands. "Of course I do Livvie. Can't you tell? I love you and I love McKenzie. I'd be an idiot not to." Before Fitz could say anything else, Olivia had wrapped her arms around his neck and brought his face down to her in a torturous kiss. Fitz responded quickly wrapping his arms around her waist and bringing her closer. His hands were travelling to her ass, when Olivia broke the kiss; leaving them both panting for air.

"I love you too." Olivia whispered against his lips.

Fist smirked, whit his forehead pressed against hers. "Yeah?"

"Yeah." Olivia giggled at his dorkiness. "Can you help me put this on?" Olivia asked, referring to her new necklace and bracelet.

"Of course." Fitz took the necklace form the box first clipping it on her neck, before clipping the bracelet around her wrist. Olivia looked in the mirror, loving how her necklace caught the light in every angle. And her wrist had never sparkled this much before.

Olivia turned and wrapped her arms around Fitz' neck, hugging him tight. "There so beautiful. Thank you so much baby."

"Your welcome. See it wasn't that hard to accept gifts, now was it." Fitz poked fun.

"Shut up."

"Ouch, I just got an I love you."

X

"Mmm Fitz stop." Olivia moaned. "Baby the driver is gonna hear us." Olivia moaned again, as Fitz hand had somehow found its way up her long skirt. They were on their way to the gala, and Fitz had never been more thankful that he thought to rent a car and driver for the night. Because he wouldn't have been able to grope and fondle his girlfriend in the backseat, had he been driving.

Olivia moaned once more, this time a little louder, when Fitz began sucking on her neck. He knew exactly what he was doing. He knew what that sis to her.

"Fitz stop."

"Why?" Fitz bite her neck, as his hand continued its trail up her leg.

"The driver-"

"Will not hear a thing." Fitz said, cutting her off. He wasn't completely sure that he was right, but for his sake he hoped he was. "The partition is up, and I want your panties down." Fitz tugged at her underwear. "Now."

Olivia didn't know if it was the look in his eyes as he looked at her, or the demanding tone of his voice, or the fact that he had moved her panties to the side, and was tracing her entrance with his finger. But whatever the reason, Olivia felt all her rationale slip out the window and she slowly opened her legs.

"That's my girl." Fitz whispered, as he moved Olivia to lie down on the seat, and situated himself between her legs. He maneuvered through her mass of skirt, and managed to pull her panties down, while never taking his lips form hers. "You are so beautiful." He whispered, and he trailed kisses down her body. Olivia squirmed in both anticipation and ecstasy from his kisses. Before she could think, Fitz' mouth latched onto her lower lips. This by far was not the first time he had gone down on her, and certainly wouldn't be the last. This time just felt. It was something about being in a car and the thrill of being caught at any minute, heightened Olivia's sexual experience.

"Fitz." She moaned, as he began to devour her. "Shit baby more." She moved her hands into Fitz' hair, pushing him into her.

"Mmm so good." Fitz spoke form between her legs, before Olivia pushed his head back into her. Fitz smirked at her eagerness, and continued on until he brought her to an orgasm.

X

"Mr. Grant, Ma'am." The driver tipped his hat, as he opened the door for Fitz and Olivia to get out. He caught Olivia's eye, and his cheeks reddened until he looked away and made his way back to the driver's seat of the car.

"He heard us." Olivia whispered in Fitz' ear, as they walked up to the entrance.

"No he heard you." Fitz corrected. "I told you to be quiet." Fitz smiled, as they continued to walk.

"And I told you to get your hand out of my panties."

"What? I wanted to play, besides I didn't hear you complaining, when my tongue was-"

"Fitzgerald." Fitz was cut off by a man calling his name. Fitz and Olivia stopped and waited for the man to reach them. "Fitzgerald it's nice to see you son. My wife and I were just talking about you." The man pointed to the woman on his arm. "You remember my wife Gina."

Fits smiled, and shook the man's hand before shaking the woman's hand and kissing the top of one. "Of course how could I forget. It's nice to see you again." Fitz noticed that Olivia was sort of standing behind him, like she was trying to hide. She was still holding his hand, but was shying away from him. "Mr. Mrs. Delvrow, this is my girlfriend and date for this evening, Olivia Pope. Liv this is Scott Delvrow and his lovely wife Gina. Scot is an old business partner and gold buddy of my dad's.

Olivia stuck her hand out to shake, "It's nice to meet you."

"Pleasure is all mine Miss Pope. So Fitzgerald I guess this means you finally came to your senses and dumped that big haired gal." Fitz tried not to laugh, he had never known that most the people in his life disliked Mellie. He had no reason to think otherwise, so he always thought everyone was fond of Mellie.

"Excuse him dear, we've never been the subtle ones." Gina said. "Well Fitz it was nice running into you, but we're gonna go head inside and mingle before we start drinking." They all said their goodbyes, and Fitz looped Olivia's hand through his arm as they continued on their way. They were steadily approaching the door, when Olivia pulled back on his arm and slowed her pace.

"Olivia?" Fitz asked, confused as to why she stopped walking. "Liv what's wrong?"

"Cameras." Olivia said, speaking of the red carpet complete with full paparazzi.

"Yeah so?" Fitz said nonchalantly. He had been to plenty of these events before and knew what to expect. This was just a walk in the park for him.

"So you didn't tell me there was gonna be any cameras."

"Baby this is one of the biggest events of the year. There are a lot of important people in there, very influential people. Of course there's gonna be some press."

"Fitz." Olivia whined, and started pulling away. Fitz looked in her eyes, and could tell she was genuinely scared and nervous. Before they reached the cameras, Fitz pulled her to the side. He gripped her face in his hands, making her keep eye contact with him.

"Baby you know you have nothing to worry about. Nobody is expecting anything from you. I know this isn't your normal setting, and I'm so grateful that you're here with me tonight. You don't have to be nervous going in there. We're just here to have a great time for a good cause. So relax, I'll be by your side the entire night okay. I won' let anything happen to you. You look beautiful just relax and enjoy the night okay?"

Olivia nodded her head, taking a couple deep breathes.

"I got you." Fitz whispered, giving Olivia a couple reassuring kisses. Fitz once again looped Olivia's hand on his arm, and walked them over to the flashing lights. They paused and posed for a couple pf pictures. Fitz could feel Olivia was still a little tense, so he changed their pose. He brought her closer to his and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her temple.

'Mr. Grant Mr. Grant right here!'

'Turn to your left please!'

'Who's the lady?'

"Is she the new girlfriend?'

"Can you look this way sweetheart?"

"Can I get an over the shoulder."

Olivia wrapped her arms around Fitz, feeling a lot better as he tightened his arms around her. 'The flashing lights making it hard for her to see ahead. She didn't realize Fitz was this famous. Yeah they got the stares, whenever they were out in public. And on occasion they would get stopped by strangers on the street wanting an autograph or a picture with Fitz.

Olivia leaned up to his ear so that he could hear her, "So what sere you some big celebrity?" She joked, finally loosening up. Fitz only laughed, and thanked the photographers and walked into the building. They hadn't even stepped to feet into the door, before Fitz was being pulled in every which direction. Everyone eager to chat and catch up and also to meet the new woman in his life.

X

"Excuse me can you tell me which apartment Olivia Cartwright is in?"

The doorman looked confused, he hand never heard of tenant by that name. "I'm sorry sir, but I'm not allowed to give out information, unless you're on the tenant's list. Besides, I don't think there is a Miss Cartwright in this building."

The man thought for a moment, she must have changed her name back. "What about Pope? Is there an Olivia Pope?"

"Your name sir?"

"She's expecting me." The man answered instead of giving a name.

"I'm sorry, but Miss Pope is not in at the moment. And unless you're on her list, I'm not allowed to let anyone up without her direct permission."

"I won't tell if you don't." The man smiled a sly grin.

"I'm sorry sir."

X

"And this is my girlfriend Olivia." Fitz introduced Olivia yet again, for what seemed like the fiftieth time tonight. He knew that there would be some people interested in his new love life. But he hadn't expected the entire party to be.

"Fitz my boy, where on earth did you find this beauty?" The old man gushing over Olivia reached out to shake her hand, "It's nice to meet you sweetheart. You must be something special to catch Fitz's eye."

Olivia smiled politely "Thank you." She kind of zoned out on Fitz and their conversation after that. She really didn't care to talk business.

"So haw have you been, been up to anything lately?" Fitz asked.

"Oh same old same old. You know how it goes, all work and no play."

"Unfortunately for you that is."

Olivia was feeling a little parched, so she excused herself and went to the bar and ordered a drink.

She had been sitting at the bar for only a couple of minutes, when someone sat down in the chair beside her. He was a little too close for comfort, so Olivia not so discreetly scooted away from him.

"What's up?" The man said, with a smug smile on his face. He had been watching Olivia for a while. He saw her walk over to the bar alone, and figured she came alone as well. And he just knew she would be leaving on his arm instead. No woman had ever denied him before, and tonight wasn't gonna be any different to him.

"What's up? Really? That's how you want to start?" Olivia rhetorically asked, "Does that really ever work for you?"

"Well normally all I have to do is flash my ID and the ladies come crawling." He smiled, as if he was being charming.

Olivia couldn't help but laugh at the smug bastard next to her, "You're kidding me right? I must be getting punk'd." Even if Olivia wasn't in a committed relationship with a man she loved, she still wouldn't give this arrogant prick the time of day.

The man looked at her in confusion, this has never happened before. Normally he would have the girl half naked by now. "You don't know who I am?" He asked, completely shock that this girl didn't know who he was. "You seriously don't know me?"

"Should I?"

He scoffed, "Jake. Jake Ballard?" He tried to jog a memory that wasn't there. "Ballard, as in House of Ballard? The restaurant chain? The millionaire."

"Oh you're a cook?" Olivia still had no idea who this man was, and the fact that he kept prodding her was really annoying.

Jake scoffed again, "Sweetheart, I'm a chef. I own two of the hottest restaurant in DC." Jake bragged.

"Well you can hardly call that a chain can you?" Olivia asked, enjoying the rise she got out of him. She didn't know why, but something about him was very of putting.

"Well the critics at the highly acclaimed DC Food Magazine thought otherwise. Five weeks as the number two restaurant in town."

"Aww only number two?" Olivia snickered, "Who was number one?"

"That's beside the point."

"Well I'd like to know?" Olivia prodded she knew exactly who was number one, she was just enjoying making Jake sweat.

"He's just some rich mamma's boy, that couldn't even wipe his own ass, yet alone run a restaurant."

"Well obviously the critics at the highly acclaimed DC Food thought otherwise." Olivia said, mimicking what he said earlier. "I mean they did pick his restaurant over your, so he must be doing something right."

"He's an ass trust me."

"You must know him well, to be making assumptions on his character."

"Trust me sweetheart I know." Olivia cringed at him calling her sweetheart. "Besides I haven't even told you his name yet, how would you know what he's like?"

"Actually I do know, because I came here with him tonight."

"Excuse me?"

"Liv." Before Olivia could answer, Fitz walked over to Olivia was sitting. He put his arm around her shoulder and kissed her temple. "Sorry I took so long, Mathew sure loves to talk." Fitz had yet to acknowledge Jake, who had a scowl on his face. Fitz had seen him go over to Olivia from across the room, and he immediately became cautious. He and Jake had history, and tonight he didn't want history to repeat itself.

"It's okay." Olivia smiled up at him, "Mr. Ballard here was keeping me company. Babe this is Jake Ballard, Jake this is my boyfriend Fitz Grant, but by the looks on both of your faces, I can guess that you two already know each other."

"Fitz my man, how's it been?"

"Jacob." Fitz said harshly, he wasn't going to feed into Jake's paranoia that they were good friends that could sit by and have a friendly chat.

"I was just trying to figure out how the lovely lady had no idea who I was." Jake said, smiling at Olivia.

"Not every woman within a mile radius of you know who you are Jacob."

Jake smiled that smug smile of his, "Nice meeting you sweetheart."

"Olivia." Olivia corrected, after the third sweetheart.

"Nice meeting you." Jake nodded in Fitz direction, and walked away.

"Ass." Fitz muttered, as Jake walked away.

"Something between you two that I'm not seeing?" Olivia asked.

Fitz shook his head. "Nothing a good drink can't fix." He picked up Olivia's glass, which he assumed was vodka. He took a large gulp, only to find that it was water. "Ugh! Liv why the hell are you drinking water? You do realize this is an open bar right?"

Olivia laughed at the disgusted look on Fitz face. With the way he was acting, you'd think he just drank cleaning fluid instead of water. "Baby relax, it's not Windex, its water. And I'm just not in the drinking mood."

Fitz eyed her carefully he had noticed that she had been a little off lately. "You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah." Olivia said, a little unconvincingly.

"Okay well, I guess I'll just be in the drinking mood for the both of us." Fitz said, before turning to the bartender and ordering a drink for himself.

After Fitz finished his second drink, Olivia dragged him off to the dance floor, before he could order another.

"Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?" Fitz spoke lowly into Olivia's ear and they swayed to the music. His warm breath and low sex voice making her moan and involuntary shutter, sending tingles down her spine.

"Mmm you might have mentioned it."

"Well let me say it again." Fitz moved one hand from her lower back, to rest full on her ass. "You..Look...so beautiful tonight." Fitz gave her ass a little extra squeeze in between his words.

"Mmm why thank you, and if I must say so myself, you don't look half bad yourself." Olivia looked up from his chest and smiled at him. She was quickly being turned on by his hand on her ass and the other rubbing soft circles on her exposed lower back. she let out a low moan, as he leaned down and kissed her lips softly. It was one of the intensity filled kisses they shared in the limo, but it had passion just the same.

They were finishing their second dance, and applauding the band once again, when someone called Fitz from behind them.

"Fitz, what a turnout huh?" Fitz turned to see his friend and business partner walking his way over to where he and Liv were.

"Cyrus hey." The two shared a handshake and brief hug, before Fitz turned to introduce Olivia. "Cy this is the beautiful Olivia I've been telling you about. Liv this is my friend and business partner Cy, my right-hand man."

Olivia stuck out her hand, "It's nice to meet you." She said sweetly.

Cyrus stared at Olivia, she was beautiful, maybe even more than Fitz described. He had been watching them all since they got to the gala, before he came over to them. He noticed that Fitz was a lot clingier with Olivia than he ever was with Mellie. He noticed how Fitz smiled more, and it was a thousand times brighter. He hadn't never seen him this bright when he was with Mellie, not even when they first started dating. Maybe this Olivia was good for him after all.

"It's nice to meet you too. Fitz has told me a lot about you."

"All good things I hope." Olivia teased.

"All good I assure you. Fitz doesn't have a bad thing to say about the woman who stole his heart."

Olivia smiled shyly at Cyrus, as Fitz pulled her into a sideways hug, kissing her temple. The threesome chatted for a few more moments, until the band started up again and Olivia and Fitz resumed their dancing while Cy went off to find a dance partner for himself.

For the rest of the night, Fitz and Olivia chatted with several other couples in attendance who were more than eager to meet Olivia, and dance the night away. They were in their own little world, not worrying about the glances and whispers their way, when they put on a little PDA on the dance floor. Or how closely they dance, and every now and then how Fitz's hand would find their way to Olivia's ass, and his mouth was never without her skin to kiss.

She felt like she was in a different world, she had never experienced something like this before. Olivia didn't grow up poor, but going to Gala's a wearing ball gowns that cost more than a car, was not something she even dreamed of as a kid. She appreciated that Fitz was making this night special for her, and she wouldn't object to whatever he had in mind.

It was a little after Midnight, when Olivia and Fitz were walking through the door to the apartment.

"Mommy!" Olivia was shocked, but more so upset at Quinn to see her daughter very much awake in the living room watching TV.

"Quinn?! What is she doing still awake?" Olivia asked, as they walked further into the apartment, and McKenzie jumped in her arms.

"Hey don't look at me like that. She was in bed at eight. She just woke up about an hour ago." Quinn defended.

"Toots why aren't you sleeping?" Olivia asked. McKenzie only shrugged her shoulders in response and put her head on Olivia's shoulder.

"I'm gonna go put her back in bed." Olivia let McKenzie kiss Fitz and Quinn goodnight, before taking her down the hall to her room.

"So Quinn you heading out?" Fitz asked, once Olivia had gone into Kenzie's room.

"Why Fitzgerald are you trying to get rid of me?"

"That's exactly what I'm doing. You need cab fare?" Fitz asked.

Quinn shook her head, and chuckled. She knew exactly why Fitz was so eager to get rid of her. And it had everything to do with Olivia and the tent that was in his pants. "No thank you, I took a friend's car."

"Well you have a great then, I'll tell Liv to call."

"Jeez, someone's pushy when their horny."

"And then me and daddy danced all night long." Olivia finished telling McKenzie the kid friendly version of her night with Fitz.

"And then what?" McKenzie asked, through a yawn. She was trying her hardest to fight her sleep. But being snuggled in her mother's arms and wrapped in her favorite blanket wasn't helping her efforts to stay awake.

"And then the King and Queen came back to the castle to put the princess to sleep." Olivia kissed Kenzie's forehead, and rocked her gently.

"I the princess mommy?" McKenzie asked, before sticking her two fingers back into her mouth.

"Yeah baby you're the princess."

"I like princess."

Olivia smiled at the innocents of her daughter, and wrapped her arms a little tighter around her. Silently wishing that she could stay this small and innocent. After a while Olivia heard Kenzie's light snores, and knew she had finally given in to her sleep. Carefully to not wake her up, Olivia slid Kenzie on the bed and brought the covers around her. After she kissed her forehead, turned on her night light and closed the door behind her, before going in search of Fitz.

Before she even had enough time to close McKenzie's door, she felt a pair of strong arms wrapping around her waist. In the next moment, she felt herself being lifted into the air and thrown over Fitz shoulder. Olivia laughed out, as Fitz smacked her ass before making a beeline to their bedroom.

Olivia continued to laugh, as Fitz roughly dropped her on the bed and climbed on top of her. "Well someone's a little eager tonight."

"Baby you have no idea." Fitz was pulling down the zipper of Olivia's skirt, when his cell phone started ringing. "Shit." Fitz muttered, but continued on his quest to get Olivia naked.

"Baby your phone." Olivia moaned, as Fitz' lips found their way to her neck.

"Shh, it'll stop." Fitz whispered in her ear, a two rings later and the ringing stopped. "See." Fitz smirked, and kissed Olivia, wasting no time to slip his tongue in her mouth. He was just about to unzip her top, when Fitz's phone started ringing yet again.

Groaning in frustration, Olivia pulled her mouth away from Fitz's. "Fitz just answer the phone or else they'll keep on calling. Fitz let out an exaggerated sigh, as he reluctantly rose up from the bed. He got his phone of the dresser, only to sigh again when he saw it was Cyrus calling.

"Cyrus it's almost 1 in the morning what do you want?" Fitz rolled his eyes, and groaned, as he listened to Cyrus speak. Olivia could tell by Fitz' facial expressions that he was not getting good news. "Do I really have to do it tonight? Now?" Fitz rolled of Olivia much to her dismay, and started redressing. "Alright Cy, I'll leave now and head to the office. Yeah I'll get it done by 1…alright…bye." Fitz hung up the phone, "Shit."

"What is it?"

"I forgot to fax some papers over to Cyrus. I left them on my desk, I gotta go over to the office and fax then off real quick." Fitz picked his shirt up off the floor and began to button it back up.

"Papers? It can't wait until morning?"

"Apparently not, Cyrus needs them tonight for some reason."

"Baby." Olivia pouted from her position on the bed. She really didn't want him to leave, especially now that he had started something he clearly couldn't finish. "You can't just get me all riled up and then leave me on the edge."

"I know Livvie, but I'll be right back I. He walked over to the bed and kissed her forehead. "Promise." He winked, then walked to the door before stopping mid-step.

"Shit." Fitz said more to himself. He forgot his rule of not wanting Olivia to be by herself. "I guess I can call Quinn and see if she can come bac-"

"Fitz no. Okay Quinn is probably half way home by now, and you are not gonna call her all the way back over here just so she can babysit me, no. I'l be fine."

Fitz stood in place starring at her, really not wanting to leave. Especially now that he knew she would be here by herself. Fitz sighed, knowing he had no other choice, "Fine. I'll be back as soon as I can." Fitz kissed her one last time, before he waked out the room.

As soon as she heard the front door close behind him, she flung herself backwards on the bed. "Ugh!" She let out a groan in frustration. "Damn that Cyrus." She whispered to herself. She had only met the man once briefly, and he was already getting on her nerves.

After wallowing in pity for a few minutes, Olivia decided to take a shower and while she waited for Fitz to come home.

As she was getting out the shower, she only had time to pull up her panties before she heard a knock on her door. 'Fitz must have forgotten his keys yet again.' She thought to herself, as she grabbed her robe and walked to the front door. She didn't check the peep hole, before she swung the door open. The smile she had on her face quickly disappeared, when she saw who was at the door. Her ex-husband Michael Cartwright in the flesh.

Before Olivia could close the door, he had pushed past and knocked her back into the apartment before shutting and locking the door behind him. He watched as she fell onto the floor, and hit her head on the wall. He saw he glance over by the phone, and again he was too quick for her reaching the phone before she did and pulled it out of the wall.

"Hello Olivia." He smiled down at her, as she crawled backwards into the living room; trying to get away from him. "You not happy to see me baby? I've spent a lot of time and effort into finding you sweetheart. The least you could do is greet me. It's only the polite thing to do?"

"Why are you here?" Olivia was shocked that she could find her voice.

"Well isn't it obvious baby? I came to talk about us, and I came to bring you home with me where you belong."

"I'm not going anywhere with you Michael." Olivia kept her voice calm, she knew she had to stay calm, and maybe he would stay calm.

"Well of course you are sweetheart. But first, we have to talk about that white man who had his hands on my woman. You leave me to be a white man's whore?" Michael began walking towards her, and she quickly stood to her feet. She kept backing away, until she felt the wall behind her.

"I am no man's whore."

"Oh what he loves you?" Michael asked, and laughed curtly in her face.

"Yes he does, and I love him back." Olivia knew the moment she spoke her last words, that she had said the wrong thing. She saw the familiar change in Michael. His eyes glassed over, his features became hard and tight. His fist balled and his stature changed from laid back to defensive.

"What the hell did you just say to me?" His tone low and menacing. Before Olivia could open her mouth, Michael had swung back with all his might and punched her, knocking her down to the floor. She let out a scream, before she hit the shelf behind her, knocking down a glass vase on her fall to the ground.

"You shouldn't have said that." Michael harshly whispered in her ear, before grabbing a fistful of her hair and dragging Olivia down the hall, kicking and screaming until he slammed the door behind him.

"Yes Cy, I faxed it over. It should've gotten to you by now." Fitz was almost back to the apartment, talking to Cyrus over the phone. It had taken him a little bit longer than her originally planned. First he had to find the papers, that weren't in their original spot on his desk. Then the fax machine was malfunctioning, so Fitz had to fix the problem before he could even fax off the papers to Cyrus.

"Alright great. Yeah, I'll see you in the morn-" Fitz stopped mid-sentence, as he pulled up to Olivia's apartment complex. There were at least a dozen police cars and two ambulances at the front entrance. There were police officers directing people away from the entrance, and behind the yellow tape.

Fitz parked his truck, and walked up to the building completely oblivious as to what was happening. Before he could reach the door, he was stopped by an officer. The officer said only residence were being allowed to enter the building, Fitz said he was a resident and showed the officer his keys. The officer nodded his head, and told Fitz to go straight to his apartment and let his past the tape.

As he was passing into the building he caught the doorman, Morris', eye. The look he shot Fitz was one of sorrow and remorse. Morris shook his head, and mouthed "I'm sorry." At that moment Fitz knew something happened to either Olivia or McKenzie, and either way, he had to get to the apartment.

Without wasting a minute, Fitz raced over to the elevators, only to find them moving incredibly slowed tonight. Foregoing the elevator Fitz ran to the steps, racing up the steps. He climbed the steps two and three at a time, his heart racing as he climbed the six flights of stairs to get to the apartment. The entire time he prayed that Olivia and McKenzie were okay, and that Morris was wrong. Maybe he got the apartment wrong. Maybe he didn't even know who Olivia was. There was a lot of people living in this building. He couldn't know them all right? That's it, he got the tenant wrong. He had to.

But as soon as Fitz opened the door to the sixth level, he knew that Morris had gotten it very right.

"No." Fitz spoke to himself as he walked to the door of Olivia's apartment.

"Sir, you can't go in there." An officer outside the door stopped him. "Sir-"

"I leave here." Fitz spoke, but his eyes were glued inside the apartment. From where he stood, he could see glass shattered in the living room, and the furniture turned upside down and thrown across the room.

"Sir this is an active crime scene-"

"That's my family in there!"

"Sir please, you don't want to go in there. You don't need that image in your head." The officer tried to move Fitz away from the door, but he wouldn't budge. "Sir please."

"Olivia!" Fitz shouted, hoping to get an answer in return, but it never came. "I have to go in there."

"Sir please, you don't want to do that."

"Olivia?!" Fitz shouted as he pushed his way past the officer. He could hear him behind him, as he made his way into the living room. He saw the shattered glass and broken furniture. He saw a blood spot on the carpet, and saw a trail leading from it down to the hall. His gut clenched as he followed the bloody trail down the hall to where trailed into the bedroom. Fitz held his breath, as he walked into the bedroom. The first thing he saw was blood. There was blood everywhere, on the floor on the bed on the nightstand and lamp beside the bed. There were telephone cords tied to the headboard and the foot of the bed. Fitz felt the need to vomit, when he saw an office bag Olivia's underwear that were soaked in blood.

"Sir please, let's step outside. You really shouldn't be in here."

Fitz ignored the officer's warning and ran into McKenzie's room. Nothing seemed to be out of place in her bedroom, which Fitz took as a good sign. But he did notice there was a yellow police marker in her closet. Hesitantly Fitz slowly made his way over the Kenzie's closet. As soon as he stepped into the closet the stench of urine filled his nose. He looked down and there was a large wet spot, and beside it were two pieces of telephone cord that looked as if it had been cut off of something.

"Sir your daughter is fine. She's with one of our female officers now, we were waiting on CPS to some. But now that your here-"

The officer didn't finish his sentence, before Fitz rushed out the room looking for McKenzie. "McKenzie?!" For the first time since he ran in the apartment, he heard loud crying and shrieking coming from the kitchen. Fitz knew it was Kenzie and rushed into the kitchen.

She was sitting on a female officer's lap, who was trying desperately to calm the little girl but nothing seemed to be working. Fitz noticed that McKenzie had on a different pair of pajamas, and figured someone had changed her out of her wet clothes.

"McKenzie." Fitz called.

McKenzie swung around in the woman' arms, as soon as she saw Fitz she cried even harder tears streaming down her face. Her eyes were blood shot and puffy from all her crying. She turned as much as she could in the woman's arms and reached for Fitz to take her. "Daddy!" She cried, trying desperately to get out of the woman's arms.

Fitz immediately reached down and took McKenzie into his arms. "It's okay baby." Fitz pulled Kenzie back a little to look at her, he wasn't sure what he was looking for, but he was glad he didn't find what he had imagined. He did notice though she had a two white bandages wrapped around both her wrist, and when he looked down, he noticed the same thing on both of her ankles.

"What the hell happened?" Fitz asked the officer in front of him.

"Sir we're not sure. As of now the only thing we can tell you is that there was a home invasion. Dispatch received a call of a woman screaming and a child crying, one of your neighbors called the police. When patrol arrived, they heard a child screaming and entered the home. There were signs of a struggle immediately called it in. They found your daughter in the closet bound at the hands and feet."

"What about Olivia?"

"The older female was unresponsive when patrol arrived. She was bound hands and feet to the bed, and was unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to Sibley Memorial hospital."

AS soon as the woman finished talking, Fitz was headed out the door. He bypassed all the officers, and in the lobby and the curious bystanders at the door. He wrapped his arms tighter around McKenzie as he rushed to his truck with her in his arms. She had stopped crying, and was now whimpering in his arms.

"Daddy!" She whimpered when Fitz put her in her car seat, not wanting to be out of his arms.

"Shh baby I'm right here okay? But I need you to be my big girl right now okay? I'm not going anywhere." Fitz kissed her forehead, and finished buckling her up before making his way to the driver's seat.

Not bothering with street sign or speed limits, Fitz sped out of the parking garage and headed to the hospital. The entire ride was quite with the only noise being the cars driving by and McKenzie's whimpers and hiccups from the backseat.

Fitz heart was heavy the entire way to the hospital. He needed for Olivia to be okay, he needed her to get through whatever was wrong with her. He felt as if he had just got her, and the universe was already trying to take her away from him. He had no idea what was waiting for him at the hospital, but all he could do was pray that his Livvie was okay.

Until Next Time…
