Annabeth Chase
Annabeth was laying on her bed, just thinking. Her sketch book which she kept blue prints of structures she will one day build was on the bed next to her on an open page. At the top of the page it read: The temple of the hero of Olympus; Lord Perseus – God of time, animals, demons and puppy love. Apart from that it was blank. Her train of thoughts was blurred. She just… coluldn't do it. If she did this and created this temple for her best friend and first love (apart from Luke) what had happened in the past few weeks would seem more real to her. She would lose seaweed – brain. And that scared her to the bottom of her soul, not in the same way spiders did, but it scared her. It seemed like she was creating a memorial. A memorial for the imperfectly perfect boy he once was. But she had always believed in being strong and facing her fears. She was strong. She did face her fears. So she picked up a pencil and began to draw the temple for the boy with seaweed-brains. Annabeth Chase let go of that boy but held him close to her heart, where he'd always stay. Then, looking down at the structure unfolding on the page she smiled and accepted the boy – no, man, he was becoming.
Meanwhile with Percy…
Percy sat in his golden room at Apollo's temple and stared hard at his reflection. He didn't exactly know what he coulkd exactly do. All he knew was that he could summon animals, his favourite being his british bird friend and side-kick , Dave and he could speak to them and use charmspeak. But surely there was more now. He was happy with what he had, but being that he was a god now he wanted to know if he had anymore powers. Maybe he could make something. It was a famed thing for a god to do. Hermes with the Lyre. His father with the horse. Many of the gods did make stuff so Percy figured… why not him?
While he stared at his eerily handsome reflection a shift occurred. The walls melted, like literally just… melted. And slowly it began to form into what Percy could only call a demon, or a very bizarre animal. It was like a sleek golden wolf-dog thing with black pools as eyes and one floppy ear, one pointy ear. As the gears began to turn in his head he thought up additional features – sharp silver teeth and claws, almost invisible dragon like wings that could appear and disappear on demand and, as a finishing touch, he allowed the creature ability's over puppy love. She could sniff it out, like a blood hound. She could create it by biting someone, a love bite – like Eros arrows. And she could create harmless crushes, the ones you'd get in school.
After a second to allow the molten metal to harden she began to move, moving every joint until she moved like a true living thing. He knelt down to stroke her and was surprised to find she was cold like metal, but had actual fur, like a dog. Percy fell in love. Like this demon was his first child.
"What should I name you, huh?" In reply it tilted its head to the side.
Nothing I don't like, preferably. A voice in his head stated. It was obviously female and obviously southern.
"What about… Rose" She shook her head – no , ears flopping about.
Absolutely not!
"Daisy?" Again she shook her head.
No thank you.
"No flower names, huh?" She shook her head. He looked down at the golden dog and thought deeply. Wait, golden…
"Hmm…" He grinned his new movie star megawatt grin down at her. "Goldilocks"
This time she nodded her head like a bobble head, metallic tail wagging and barked a single strange bark. In his head all he could hear was an everlasting chorus of; Yes. He guessed she liked that name, for some reason or another. They grow up so fast…
"Lets try this again shall we – let's make you a friend"
Again a nod.
" Can you do anything but nod and shake your head?" He asked, wondering about this strange creature.
She made a point of nodding her head and doing a flip, flying around the room once with her invisible wings then landing gracefully at his feet. Just when he was about to create another dog thing out of a mirror Apollo popped his head in the door.
"Hey doctor Doolittle, c'mon we have training" He took in the scene of his friends room and raised an eyebrow, not questioning why there was a weird but strangely cool golden dog standing in the room.
Then as an after thought he added;
"Hey, I sure hope that things house trained, dude. I do not want it messing up my house"
Percy cracked up and Apollo cracked a smile, both walking out the room and on to the streets of Olympus with Goldilocks following. Apollo stopped Percy.
"I'm serious about that, man"
Percy stifled his movie star smile and reached down to stroke his new pet.
"Don't worry; Goldilocks wouldn't dream of it, would you, girl?"
She barked and ran around them, tail never stopping wagging.
I'd never.
"Seriously man… Goldilocks?" Apollo smirked, causing Percy to do the same.
"Hey! It suits her"
