Chapter 10

The truth starts and the secret begin

A.N.: I am utterly and completely sorry for the delay. If any of you wondering, I got my GED a year ago(December 2016 lol) and I studied Art since the summer term started and processing of moving. I'm trying so hard to write more if I have devoted fans or less while I'm working It's always a writer's problem. We have the stories in our heads, but we can't able to write it down. Lol. Hope you enjoy it.

"ARE. YOU. HIM?" He heard Maka. Those echoed his head along with his own thoughts. How she knows and sure it was me? How she found out? And how she found the mask? While his thoughts are unanswered, he knew that he have to tell her the truth… or parts of it.

"How can you be sure?" he asked.

"I'm sure because you should have told me which drawer to unlock before you went out with your call." she answered. He sighed and push his hair back. He knows how it happened.

A couple of days ago, he was back-up with grading finals, ordering new instruments for the new year and trying to make an excuse of why he can't come to his parent's house for christmas. He got a call from his brother, Wes, during class. He asked Maka to pulled out their papers that he already graded for them. Soul just give her the keys to the drawer, but never told her which is it as he walked out of his classroom for a minute or two. He should have threw that mask in the trash when he has the chance, but never had a heart to do it.

Knowing that he can't get himself out of this, he told her the truth. "Yes. I am him, but you already know the reason why I don't tell in the first place. You're my student and I'm your Teacher. If someone know about it, we'll both be in serious trouble."

"I know. I know that, but you could have told me."

"What would you do if I did told you?" He asked. Maka opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She don't know what to say to him. "Listen. What happened back there; the dance, the kiss will be a memory that only you and I have, but we'll pretend it never happened. Alright?" Maka slowly nodded her head.

"Right, because I'm a student and you're a teacher."

"That's right. Now, go before your dad start looking for you. Now, go before your dad starts looking for you."

"Maka?" Spirit said as he walked in. "Maka. I been looking for you." He noticed Soul. "Oh, Mr. Evans. I been looking for you, also. You got a minute?" Soul and Maka looking at each other, nervously. They feared that he know about them.

For a brief second, Soul turned and answered. "Sure."

"Good because I need a favor." They were secretly relieved that is not what they thought.

"What kind of favor?" said Soul.

"Well, I need to go to my ex-wife home to pick up something and I got a call from her lawyer that he found her will. So, I'm asking you if you can watch Maka for me." Their eyes wide open as they heard that.

"What? What can I just go with you?" Said Maka

"Because knowing you, you can't handle the fact that her mother is actually gone once you're in her house. Remember last year with Grandma?" Soul turn to Maka as her father said that to her. He saw some sadness in her eyes. " Listen, it will only be few days and I'll be back for Christmas. Trust me on this." He turned to Soul to ask the same questions again.

"I would like to, but it's up to Maka if she really wants me to watch her." He said. They turned to her.

"Um… sure, yeah. Whatever" she answered, but she wasn't happy about it.

"All right, then it's settled." He turned to Soul. " I'll be leaving early tomorrow, so, I need you to be by house at 8 o'clock. you know where we live, right?" Soul nodded. "Great! You should go to your place and start packing everything you needed. We will have a room ready for you. Let's go, Maka." They walked out of the classroom. Soul stay behind as he collect his things.

After what just happened, they have the same thought. "Well, this is going be a very interesting break"

It has been three day since Spirit left Soul to watch over Maka. Maka had been in her room all day and night, avoiding him. She only came out when she's hungry. Soul force himself to do some extra work, even if he only need a one task to do. He already have his plans for school for this and next year if he got a approved from the principal. They both thought that it was good idea to avoid...until the storm came.

"Maka!?" he shouted when the power cut off. Everything was pitch black. He turned on the flashlight on his phone and call out again. "Maka! Maka? Are you alright?"

"Soul!" Maka ran out of her room and get close enough to him, only a few inches from each other. "What just happen?"

"The power went off from the snow storm. Do you have power generator?" She shook her head. "Ok. Do you have some matches? I noticed you have candles."

"Yeah, it's in the kitchen."

"Ok, find a cooler if you have one and get some warm blankets. I'll lit some candles and get the food out of the fridge. Alright?" she nod. "Good. Go."

They got everything needed for the storm. They were lucky that there's a fireplace in the house. They made a shelter around it to keep warm. Soul just sat down as soon he's done his call to her father. "What did my dad say?"

"Just the usual "Is she alright?" And "take care of my daughter, please" also, there's a possibility that snowstorm will come to hit where he is. Here." he handed a glass of red wine to me. "To take the edge off a bit." she look at the wine and to him

"I'm not allowed to drink."

"And I'm not going to tell your dad if you would." for that, she accepted the wine and thank him. "Nice to see you out of your room, finally. You been avoiding me."

"I was not." he gave him a look. "Ok, I was, but you know why."

"I know, but you can't run away from me forever."

"And that's the thing; I can't, even if I wanted to." He was going to ask her what she means by that, but she beat him to it. "What I mean is I can't shake the feeling I have when I'm around you. Now, that I know that you're the guy I kissed that night. I feel... happy, but I'm scared."

"You don't have to be scared. Never be scared." he hold her hand as they looked each other. "I can't shake the feeling, too and I will not pretend that what happened to us was a dream. I try so hard to focus on everything when all I'm thinking about is kissing you again." Maka put down her wine and say something that he never expected her to say.

"Then kissing me." and I meant it. She tired of hiding her feeling and wanted to act on it.

"Maka, you don't know what you're asking. I drank wine."

"I took a sip and I know it."

"We will get trouble soon."

"But, not right now. We'll keep it a secret and I'm almost 18." Soul tries to reason with her, but she wouldn't budge. Maka is a kind of girl who know what she want and I want Soul. He felt defeated of her stubbornness. Then he thought, 'she is almost an adult and I'm going to hell for wanted this, anyway.'

"You are the most stubborn woman I ever met." She raised her brow. "I like that in a woman." He bring his lips into her and the affair has begun.

If this chapter felt rushing into it, I'm sorry. You have no idea how long I'm in this. I hope you enjoy. No mean words, please. Thank you.
