Hinata never thought she would miss two known and feared criminals. The house felt empty and cold without Kisame's warm overbearing argumentative presence and Itachi protective air. She sat at the kitchen table with a now stocked kitchen with a cup of tea, two identical cups sat in the sink waiting to be washed.

Everything was in its place. The medical center had all she would need for even near death situations, it had room for two patients which assumed she would only have a pair at a time, but just in case they had extra futons for expansion. She tried to make it a bit less hospital room looking, she knew how ninja's just LOVED hospitals.

Her office bookshelves were filled with odd looking books and scrolls from leader-sama, and new books she had asked for. She had mounds of paper for notes and reports. She had empty bottles waiting to be filled with medication and a table there solely for the making of them. Itachi had picked out a comfy chair for her desk.

The boarding room had to sets of bunk beds, which she was glad we're still in one piece after Kisame's rampage while trying to put them together. She had them made up and ready for unexpected guests.

Her room and bathroom were things she hadn't really thought about when she made her list, luckily Itachi had and pointed out odds and ends she would need for it while they were shopping. She had really like how it came out, Itachi had thought of just about everything she hadn't.

Her kitchen was filled and neatly placed. Her garden was waiting to be tended to a box of supplies and seeds were waiting by the door.

Everything was right where it needed to be, but something was off. It was so big, yet so empty.

She took a step back and looked at herself in her cup of tea, her heart ached with longing for Gaara's to walk through the door and silently eat dinner with her, for Neji to come and complain, for Kisame to start shouting angrily or tell stupid jokes, for Itachi to sit and silently stare out the window, for just... someone. The hardest part of being a missing-nin was the lack of people she could trust and rely on to be in her life. She was quiet and shy, but she craved human contact when it was gone. She wasn't sure if the Akatsuki could fill the void. They were known as cruel unrelenting cold men. Though Itachi and Kisame had warmed up to her in slight, it was more the fault of it being their job to bring her to the group, she doubted greatly the rest would be so open.

She started to spend her days gardening, training, and reading the books that had been left for her. She made detailed reports on all the books she read, all her findings, and all her speculations. She was becoming more and more interested in the books on ancient chakra control, they were vague and poorly written and the notes accompanying them seemed to think they could be translated to be used for attack and from a normal ambitious ninja's standpoint that could be true, but she could think of other uses for some of the rather vague techniques that made much more sense, healing. This finding explained why leader-sama wanted a medical-nin to look at them.

One that caught her attention, that looked like how to use chakra to force a body that was shutting down, to continue or start to work, like all the others, had corresponding notes from a previous researcher who described making the body overreact and kill itself. In theory, yes you could, but it would be intensely difficult for people without Bakugan or something like it. Finding the right chakra channel to break or swell to shut down an organ and knowing just how much you would need for a specific opponent would be difficult blind even if you had average chakra channels and organs memorized.

She wrote notes on both sides, explaining why this if used by anyone other than a Bakugan or like a gifted person, could seriously backfire and potentially heal you opponent or just give them more stamina. She also wrote of a potential method to heal someone who had had this attempted on them. She was confident it would work, though she also hoped she would never have to try to heal someone who had organ bursting inside of them.

She did, however, file the technique in the back of her mind. She could use it in her medical work, yes, but also as a last resource defense. She knew for a fact that she was not as strong as the other members of the Akatsuki, if any turned on her or any bounty hunters strong enough to counter an Akatsuki member came for her, she could shut down major organs with a few simple toughed of her fingers. It was something she was hoping she never had to do, it would be an incredibly painful way to die.

She decided this 4 form method was a good way to write all her notes. What she actually thinks it should or could be used for, a review of the previous notes use and why or why not it could be used that way, risks, and final a way to heal or counter it if there was any.

She spent weeks in her work, fascinated by what the old texted had to offer and completely disgusted by the previous note taker and the sheer misunderstanding or misuse of the techniques. She understood the lust for power people had, but who ever had written before her had no regard for the actual intention of the original author. He was greedy, arrogant, and like to go on tangents in his noted about his greatness. It made her hate him dearly. Lucky, given by the dates on the notes, she would never meet him because he was long dead.

She had lost track of time, she realized she had gone months without a single letter or note from anyone other than leader-sama, who had asked about her progress, but would wait on the reports till they could be transported safely. She had felt comfortable in her home but still felt very empty, the nearby town luckily bought her fake name and back story. She knew she couldn't get close to anyone, but it filled the need for human contact. While out she acted depressed and distant. Itachi built her a story about being a widow who lost her children and had vowed to live on her own as a punishment for not being there when they died. She seemed to be a widow in many of these stories, she wondered if the meant something.

She started medical experiments and creating medication to pass the time when she could not longer read the stupid notes. She was then experimental research into blood limits from Leader-sama through what looked like an odd clone. It struck her as odd, but she began to understand why he wanted her to tell no other members about it. There was a folder addressed specifically to her about the Sharingan progression to blindness and a condition called hemoptysis which from her understanding was terminal, but he wanted a cure or at least a treatment for. The two didn't seem related, but the fact that they were in the same folder told her this was for Itachi whose Sharingan, at least from what she understood, shouldn't have progressed to that point yet. He was far too young to be thinking about it unless there was a factor she was unaware of. Was Itachi this sick, hemoptysis would explain why Kisame, despite her complaining about his injuries, offered to do any lifting despite it being something Itachi could at full health do. He walked slowly, sat down as often as he could, and now that she thought about it his took very short breaths while he slept. She had no clue if she could repair his heart and lungs not matter what state of the condition he was in.

Wiping a tear from her eye, she was startled by the bell set up to signal someone coming through the cavern. She set the sensitive material away and slipped into defense mode.

I appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE comments and reviews.

I can not answer questions of guests. I don't want this section a mile long and bloating the word count too much.

If you have a question please log in and PM me. I will answer any and all questions!

I will point out I am not sure of and will not be following the timeline of the show anything that seems out of place is a result of that.

I will also point out that anyone who is out of character by a lot is the fault of me not knowing the character well enough and I apologize for that.

I apologize for spelling and grammar, I am a computer scientist, not a writer.
