"Leave me alone, please! Serena ran and ran down the never ending road looking back every so often at her pursuer that was getting closer and closer.
"Please! She repeated out of breath, I don't have what you want whatever it is ,I don't have it!
Tears began to run down her face and she could feel herself slowing down, no longer able to keep a good distance from her chaser who did not seem to slow down despite the rocks and greenery that obstructed the ground.
"If you tell me what you want maybe I can help you? She implored between each breath, repeating it like a mantra kept, over and over and over again. He never answered instead he moved faster and faster, his fingers would sometimes brush her wrist in attempt to grab her but she resisted him willing herself to move faster.
Eventually, large arms grabbed her in a vice grip.
Serena woke up with a start. Her breath was ragged and a cold sweat took over her body.
"NO!" She screamed
"Hey, hey, hey what's wrong?what's wrong? A deep male voice asked.
"Darien, Darien? The blonde asked shaking
"No, no, it's me David" The large man stood stock still in the space between Serena's door and bed, confused.
should I call your mum or-
The blonde finally realised where she was. In her semi-tidy room, her semi tidy safe room ,with an equally as shaken man.
-No No don't i'm fine just a nightmare"
"Are you sure you're okay? I can go, maybe I shouldn't have come at all" The large man said more to himself than the little blonde.
Serena saw the look of confusion on the young man's face and brought herself back to reality. It wasn't his fault that she had been having these nightmares. Nearly a week since she had last seen 'him'.
"It's okay, really, how are you here anyway? She asked genuinely
As if by magic the large man suddenly relaxed, his frown literally turning upside down. He half jumped onto her bed almost making her fall out.
" Your mum let me up, said you hadn't been feeling great, plus I got sick of being at home ,I'm not an animal that enjoys to be caged you know" Serena didn't buy his explanation for five minutes.
"Really? Somehow I think you'd have seen me a week ago if you really had a choice"
David laughed his trademark infectious laugh.
"To be honest, and don't tell him that I told you, James suggested I come see you"
Serena shook at the mention of 'his' name.
"Ja-, he, he did?
"Are you sure you're okay, you're shaking, do you have a cold?
"Yeah, that's it I have a cold, but i'm fine, really, he said you should come see me, why?
"Why not? He knows that you were my friend before, you know, before everything and he thinks I should try and 'get back to a good place' ,whatever that means.
As if she couldn't get anymore confused this had to happen. What exactly was James' plan? She had a week to sort her head around the whole thing and she had figured out that he, somehow, was trying to get the people she loved most to go against her. To be honest, she had decided that if they really did love her then they would never believe someone they had just met over her. She hoped.
"Maybe I should just leave, you really don't look well Sere" David looked at her worryingly where he sat, I'll treat you out for a meal or something when you get better okay.
"Okay", she smiled. To be honest she really wanted to get back to sleep. Maybe this time it wouldn't be marred by nightmares.
" See you soon, i'll tell your mum to make that great soup" He jumped up from her bed and headed towards the door.
As soon as she left she grabbed the phone. It was about time she filled Darien in on all of she could type the fifth number on her phone David poked his big head through her door.
"I'm sorry, he said looking at the clearly exasperated look on Serena's face.
"I forgot to tell you the good news! James popped the question yesterday!
Serena dropped her hot pink phone.
"What question?"
"The 'will you marry me question' He replied one eyebrow raised.
"and what did she say?
"Yes of course she adores him, I can't believe my little sisters getting married!
Neither could Serena.
