Stiles looked around the yard and just took in the noise and happiness. It was a sure sign of a happy pack - well two right now. The members of the Hale and Toretto packs were happily mingling. The best possible example of this mingling being Isaac and Jesse who were literally intertwined. No one had the heart to stop them. It was fairly clear to all that the young pups would not be separated.
Dom was torn - he had a choice to make. Hale had all but told him that he could be a pack adjunct but he would have to remember that this was Hale land, and Derek was the Hale Alpha. It was something to think about soon, but not right now; now was a time for celebrations.
Still it wouldn't be a terrible thing. The Alpha pair were happy and stable. It would be nice not to have to take all of the responsibilities. In fact, the happy Alpha pair were dividing their attention between the grill; their little one, and the whole pack. It was a delicate balancing act but already they were settled into a comfortable routine.
Stiles could tell that Dom was about to start brooding and moved over to talk to him. If there was one state that Stiles recognised – it was brooding. He'd have poor observational skills having been mated to Derek for as long as he had. "Hey Dom get over here and eat."
Stiles always loved when he could use Wolfy protocol in his favour. It was expected that Alpha's were amongst the first fed. "You okay?"
Dom looked over at the young pups still entwined in each other just looking up at the sky. It so sickeningly sweet and that was the worst part. They were so cute that no one wanted to be mean. It would be like kicking a puppy. "Yeah just have the urge to go and lock Jesse up."
Stiles snorted, "It won't help they'll just scratch the door up until we give in."
Derek shook his head. He'd long since given up hope that his mate would stop cracking dog jokes. The pack was used to it and some of them even encouraged it. He wondered how Dom would take it. He started to laugh, "Just wait until the little one starts teething."
"Damn." Stiles and Derek shared a look.
Stiles asked hopefully, "How do maturity rates differ in born wolves?"
Dom was the one to chuckle this time, "Sorry she'll reach it quicker than a human child."
Derek nodded, "It's true we mature quicker to give us a chance against dangers."
Stiles hated when things made sense meaning that he couldn't do a damn thing against it. "Aww well … we'll deal with that issue when it gets here."
Right now, he couldn't see anything but the adorable bundle in his arms. Talia was perfect and he and Derek had had to pull rank so they could keep their cub close. It wasn't just the betas his Dad had just been as bad.
Dom smirked, "You have a cute cub and one that the pack wants to share in. She is their Little Alpha."
Stiles sighed knowing that the older Alpha spoke, and most of the time he didn't begrudge the pack bonding time with Talia. Still it was not like they could get mad with him either - it was his kid who he'd given birth to. "I know and I expect this to just be the first round of little pups."
Dom smirked knowingly, "Every single one of them will be your pups to the day you die."
"I know." Stiles said with a surety that comes of knowing your place in life. He was Pack Mom and it was a title that he'd embraced. Still he wasn't going to be deterred from his original plan. "Now a certain Beta said you race. So I was thinking what about a friendly race … Alpha in a Camaro against Alpha in a Plymouth?"
It was always going to be the best race. The packs were standing around for once divided into Team Hale and Team Toretto - interestingly it wasn't necessary the traditional packs though for the teams.
"Where will we race because i really don't want my father-in-law arresting me." Derek pointed out as the voice of reason.
Stiles rolled his eyes as really – how could his mate doubt him? He had already factored in all potential dangers and he had already planned to take into account all of the variables. "The drive from the preserve up to the house is definitely quarter of a mile."
Derek's eyes narrowed, "You planned this?"
Stiles shared a mischievous grin with Brian, "We may have plotted scenarios whilst sitting on the sofa bored out of minds when we were huge."
Derek made a mental note to not let Brian and Stiles plot anything unless it was havoc against enemies. In those cases, he would be all for whatever their devious minds came up with. "You two are dangerous."
Dom silently agreed. He was smart enough not to call them out on it though. "A credit to your pack though."
Derek nodded. He couldn't believe how the pack had grown. He was so glad to have a family again that he could trust. He would always feel the pain from his blood family being ripped away from him so young. The best thing was though that he was not alone he knew that now. He had Stiles; Little Talia and his pack. He could deal with any new challenge in front of him. He would even challenge Dom to rematch as it really burnt the he had won their little race off, even if Dom was the Street King of L.A.
