"Underneath the echoes,
buried in the shadows,
there you were.
Drawn into your mystery,
I was just beginning,
to see your ghost.
But you must know,
I'll be here waiting,
hoping, praying that,
this light will guide you home.
When you're feeling lost I'll leave my love.
Hidden in the sun,
for when the darkness comes.
Now the door is open,
the world I knew is broken.
There's no return.
Now my heart is not scared,
just knowing that you're out there,
watching me.
So believe,
I'll be here waiting,
hoping, praying that,
this light will guide you home.
When you're feeling lost I'll leave my love.
Hidden in the sun,
for when the darkness comes.
(Oh oh oh)
For when the darkness comes.
Be here waiting,
hoping, praying that,
this light will guide you home.
When you're feeling lost I'll leave my love.
Hidden in the sun,
for when the darkness comes
Hidden in the sun,
for when the darkness comes."
BETHANY WITWICKY'S POINT OF VIEW
I woke up to Mikaela shaking me gently, whispering that Optimus as the rest of the Autobots had joined us already. I nodded, sitting up and adjusting the Cube in my lap.
"Hey, you okay?" Sam asked. "You look like you've been crying?"
"A nightmare?" the dark haired teenager suggests.
I touched my face, realizing that it was wet with tears. I shoke my head, wiping them off with my sleeve. "Just a bad dream."
My twin looks at me in concern. "What about?"
I shrugged. "I can't remember." I didn't want to tell him about the conversation between Bee and I, considering it was the least of our problems. I ruffled his hair. "I'm okay Sam, really. Don't worry about me."
Looking out through the back, I noticed the rest of the Autobots trailing behind Lennox and his team. Then I heard the familiar sound of a police siren. I looked back to my brother and Mikaela.
"No, no, no, no!" Sam yelled watching the cop car.
"What?" the dark haired teen and I question.
"It's the same cop! Block them, block them, block them," my twin said as I saw more vehicles come up closer. That's when I noticed that they weren't regular cars, they were Decepticons.
One of them, a military vehicle transformed as did Optimus. The Decepticon made it's way towards the Autobot, breaking through many cars and a bus before pouncing on him. They went flying off the highway.
"Where was this in the contract when we bought Bumblebee?" I wondered aloud, holding the Cube closer to my chest.
Once we made it inside Mission City, Lennox, Epps and the rest of the soldiers starting preparing for the battle against the Decepticons.
"Air Force has arrived," I heard Lennox inform as we stepped out of the car. "Pop smoke!"
"Bennie, you got the Cube?" my brother questioned. I nodded and he took it from my grasp, holding it tightly. The three of us looked up towards the sky, watching the air craft.
"Raptor, Raptor do you copy?" Epps asked into the radio. "We have you visual. Green smoke is the mark. We need air cover and vector Black Hawks for extraction."
Suddenly, Ironhide and Bumblebee transformed, the silver mech exclaiming, "It's Starscream!"
Sam stood in front of Mikaela and I protectively, looking around for the said Decepticon.
"Please tell me you copy," Epps pleaded through the radio.
"Back up! Take cover!" Ironhide order before he and Bumblebee rushed towards a truck, bracing themselves against it.
"No, no, no, no, no, move!" Lennox yelled as I heard the screams and yells of the frightened citizens around us. I heard more yells of, "Retreat!" and "Fall back! Fall back!" as I scrambled away from the incoming missile.
I covered my hands over my head just as the ground exploded around me. Time seemed to slow as I opened my eyes and I noticed all the broken pieces of concrete, metal and glass all around us.
"Bethany!" I heard my brother scream in panic. I shot my head up quickly, much to my body's displeasure and realized I was hidden beneath the rubble. I wasn't trapped, thank God, and the only pain I felt was in my arm.
"Bethany! Answer me!" Sam yelled again as I pushed myself out of the barricade and hissed in pain. I looked down at my arm, ripping off the already torn up fabric and saw all the scratches and bruises. I touched it and I yelped in pain.
Sam finally found me and crushed me into his chest. "Oh thank God," he mumbled, pulling back. "What happened?"
"My arm," I mumbled as he helped me stand up, "it hurts,"
"How bad?"
"Not that bad, but I think I'll be okay." I nod with a reassuring smile. The sounds of worried clicks and whirs were brought to my ears and I looked over to see a pained Bumblebee.
I rushed over towards him and gasped, "Oh my God, Bee, your legs," I felt the tears starting to fall down my checks as Sam tried to help the injured mech.
"Here. Here, back, back, back," he told the Autobot behind us as Bumblebee struggled to move forward. "You alright? Please get up,"
I dropped on my knees, cupping his face, wiping off as much dirt as I could. He let out a distressed sound, his optics scanning over my arm.
Shaking my head, I told him, "Don't worry about me Bee but you have to get up. Please, please get up."
"Ratchet!" my younger brother called out, hoping that the said bot could help out our guardian.
"You've got to get up, you're okay, you're okay," Sam kept repeating as Mikaela ran towards us, latching onto Sam's arm.
Ignoring the pain in my arm, I moved away more pieces of rubble so Bee could move forward at least a little bit more.
Then a tank started to shot at the ground in front of Lennox and Epps and started rolling over cars, causing people to scramble away from the vehicle.
"We're not leaving you," Sam stated firmly, staring at the Cube that was unharmed, sitting in the rubble in front of us.
I shoke my head, staring into the mech's optics. They weren't a bright blue as they were before but they were still a beautiful blue. "Bee, please,"
He picked up the Cube, placing it my lap. His gaze flickered between Sam and I, then back to the Cube.
"I can't do this." Sam muttered.
"What?" I exclaim in disbelief. "Samuel-"
He shoke his head. "You don't understand! I'm not like you Bennie. You're strong, you know what to do and you can handle something like this."
"And you can't? Sam, when we bought Bee it was together. It was me and you," I tapped his chest, before my fingers curled around his shirt, pulling him face to face with me, "and I can't do this without you. We're in this for life, Sam, whether you like it or not. So why don't you man up, grow a pair and help me with this!"
Sam gulped, a bit afraid of my tone but nodded. "Y-you're right. Together?"
I nod with a smile. "Together."
"Sam, Bethany," I turned around to Mikaela with a tow truck, that she probably broke into but I wasn't complaining. "Help me with this."
I jumped into the back of the truck, pulling out the cables, as Sam instructed the dark haired teenager where to hook up each one on the injured Autobot.
"Sam!" I heard Lennox call out as he ran towards us. "Bethany! Where's the Cube?"
"Right there," my twin pointed towards the said object right.
As Mikaela wrapped another cable around Bee, I questioned, "Is it tight enough?" she pulled on it and nodded. "Okay, good." I smiled at the mech. "You're gonna be okay Bee. I promise."
Lennox approached us once again. "All right, I can't leave me guys back there, so here, take this flare," he handed me the object. "Okay, there's a tall, white building with statues on top." the soldier informed. "I want you two to go to the roof and set the flare. You two are soldiers now and all I need you to do is take this Cube and get into military hands while we hold them off, or a lot of people are gonna die."
"You need to leave," he demanded towards Mikaela, "you need to get out of here."
"No," she protested. "I'm not leaving until I get Bumblebee out of here, okay?"
My twin and I jumped out of the truck and he grabbed the Cube, while Ironhide and Ratchet approached us. "Children, we will protect you."
Sam nodded. "Okay." right before we ran off, Mikaela called Sam back and I went over towards a distressed Bumblebee.
"I'm really glad I met you in my dream Bee," I confessed, looking up at him. "And I promise, when all of this is over, we can start again." the mech nods, wrapping his hand around my waist and pulling me up so I could hug him. I kissed the side of his face right before he placed me down gently.
"Sam, Bethany, you two have to get to the building!" the large silver bot ordered. "Move!"
Sending one last glance towards Bee, I followed Sam, running off where Lennox instructed. Even though running was my weakest point, something kept telling me to push forward and run as fast as I could.
We swerved through cars, pushing past people and weren't attacked by any Decepticons thanks to Ratchet and Ironhide. "Keep moving children!" he yelled. "Don't stop!"
As we were running down the road, two cars were thrown our way. "Get down!" I cried as Sam pushed both of us down, protecting both of us and the Cube. Our two protector Auotbots saved the day, however they were almost defeated until the Decepticon transformed, flying off.
"Get to the building," Ironhide demanded as he struggled to regain his composure. I stood up, grabbing Sam's hand.
"Let's do this," I told him before we began sprinting off towards the building once again. When this all ends and I survive, I might try out for track in my senior year if I'm able to run this far without stopping. Maybe it was because the fate of the world was sort of in our hands.
"Look out!" I warned my brother before he smacked right into one of the moving cars, falling onto the ground, taking me with him. Once the Cube hit the ground, some of it's energy was released, causing a few electronics to transform.
My eyes widened in shock as I watched an Xbox in a man's hands and a Mountain Machine to shift into mechs and start attacking people. I looked down at the Cube in my brother's hands, realizing how powerful it was. Now I see why the Autobots don't want it in enemy hands.
I helped my brother off the ground as we both regained our breath and then started running towards the building. We sprinted past an open gate into the broken down area, but all in all, it still looked very beautiful. I scolded myself for my artistic mind appearing at a time like this.
As we stepped inside, we looked around for the stairs but a large figure in the distance rushing towards us caught my eye. "Sam, Sam," I tugged on his arm. "It's Megatron,"
He gulped before gesturing away from the evil bot. "You're not gonna get us," he repeated as we started sprinting once again, "you're not gonna get us."
I searched around for a way on the roof and heard the sounds of breaking glass, and a booming voice, "I can smell you, children!"
"Here, here," I said as I found the stairs. We continued going as fast as possible to make it up to the military on the roof, before the floorboards underneath started to break and Megatron's face popped up from under them.
Both my brother and I screamed, but eventually got away from the Decepticon and then found the stairs that connected to the roof.
"T-that's," I rubbed the sweat off my forehead, "a long flight of stairs."
Sam nodded in agreement. "Just think, if we get this to the military and the Autobots win, you get to see mom, dad, Weasley, Mojo... Bee."
Taking a deep breath, I smiled thinking of the yellow and black mech who I cared so much about. We started running again and even though it was about a dozen flight of stairs, it was worth it once we found a ladder up onto the roof.
My twin pushed me first up the ladder and I grabbed the Cube, wincing at the pain in my hand, but ignored it as much as possible. I set the powerful device down before helping Sam up and began racing across the roof.
Sliding out the flare that Lennox gave me, I tapped it against the wall, before waving it out in front of me.
"Hey!" Sam screamed, hoping to catch the aircraft's attention. "We're over here!"
"We're here!" I yelled as I continued to wave it around.
I heard the sounds of the two helicopters behind us and then one in front of us. Sam ran forward where a soldier was holding out his hands for the Cube. Just as he was about to pass it to them, he warned them, "Watch out!" before Megatron shot at the aircraft.
Sam fell onto the ground, using his other hand to pull me down, shielding me from the falling rock and debris the out of control helicopter was causing.
Hesitantly, I got up from the floor and saw the evil mech standing on top of another building. "We gotta run Sam, like now!" I grabbed him off the ground before we started running away from the Decepticon who began shooting at us.
I jumped up onto the ledge, behind a statue, moving over so Sam could join me and my mind flashed back to when Optimus had us on his shoulders. Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down... My heart started beating out of control, almost hammering out of my chest as I tried to regain my breathing.
Pressing my face against the back of sculpture, feeling the tears well up in my eyes and my bottom lip began to tremble.
"Is it fear or courage that compels you, fleshlings?" Megatron growls. "I can sense the bond between you, tiny fleshling, and that mech scum."
What bond? I wonder, And how does he know about it?
"Bennie, where can we go?" my brother questions in panic as he began looking down at the ground below us that was far away.
I shoke my head. "I-I don't know,"
"Give me the Allspark," the evil bot demands, inching towards us, "and you may live to be my pet, with your mech scum as our servant.
Sam tightens his grip around the Allspark, slipping his hand into mine as we were practically smushed against the statue. "We're never giving you this Allspark!"
"Oh, so unwise," was the mech's reply before taking the down the statue, Sam and I falling. I screamed. I screamed so much, my lungs were probably strained.
"Bethany!" I heard Sam's voice ring in my ears as we continued falling through the air. I was prepared for my body to hit the ground, but instead I again felt metal. I looked up to see our savior, Optimus Prime just as Sam landed next to me. I squeezed his hand tightly, not wanting to let my brother go.
"I've got you!" Optimus reassured. "Hold onto the Cube."
Wrapping both of his arms around me, the powerful device between our chests, Sam held me close before Optimus began sliding down the building, jumping from side to side. Right before the Autobot landed on the ground, Megatron latched onto him as we crashed onto the ground.
"Bethany," I heard the mech's voice say as he removed his hand from his chest, "Sam, both of you risked your lives to protect the Cube." I nodded with a smile.
"No sacrifice, no victory." my twin repeated after our father.
"If I cannot defeat Megatron, you must push the Cube into my chest." the mech ordered. "I will sacrifice myself to destroy it. Get behind me."
Tugging on my brother's arm, we both slid off the Autobot, and into the concrete Optimus smashed into where the pipes were leaking out God knows what.
Optimus got up from the ground, "It's just you and me, Megatron."
"No, it's just me, Prime," the Decepticon responds."
"At the end of this day, one shall stand, one shall fall." the Autobot said just before the two sprung into battle.
"Sam," my eyes widen, "the Cube's energy, if inside Optimus' chest would destroy him, right?"
My twin nods. "Yeah? Where are you going with this Bennie?"
"What if we push it into Megatron's so he'd be the one destroyed and not Megatron?"
"That might work, that might work," he agreed as we watched the two mechs fight and I looked behind us to see Lennox and his team taking down another Decepticon with helps of the Air Force.
I jumped out of our hiding spot, Sam following as we rushed to help Optimus while they began firing at Megatron. We took cover, protecting the Allspark as much as possible.
"I'll kill you!" Megatron screams. "My Allspark!"
"Put the Allspark in my chest," Optimus demanded, but I ignored the Autbot, taking the powerful device from my brother's hands. "Bethany!"
I stood up pointing the Cube at the Decepticon's chest, watching it disappear into flames, causing the bot to fall onto the ground.
Turning around, I met my brother's gaze with a cheeky smile. "I just took down a Decepticon. Looks like that'll be my senior quote."
His arms wrapped around me, moving me from side to side. I returned the hug before pulling away and kissing his check.
Optimus stood up and I noticed Lennox and the rest of soldiers came forward to look at the fallen bot.
"You left me no choice brother," I stared up at Optimus in shock before looking down to the dead Decepticon. Then, he leaned down in front of us. "Sam, Bethany, I owe you both my life. We are in your debt."
The sound of car caused both of us to turn around. Mikaela stopped the car, jumping out and smiled at my brother. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, kissing the top of my head, while I met Bee's eyes.
"Prime, we couldn't save him." Ironhide spoke as I saw the remains of Jazz in his hands. I smiled sadly at the Autbots.
Optimus looked down at the bot, "Aw, Jazz," he took whatever was left of his old friend, turning to the rest of us. "We lost a great comrade, but gained new ones. Thank you, all of you. You honor us with your bravery."
"Permission to speak, sir?" I gasped at the sound of the fimilair voice, my eyes snapping towards Bumblebee.
"Permission granted, old friend." their leader responded.
"You speak now?" Sam questions and I jabbed him in the ribs with my elbow. "Ow,"
Bee's eyes met mine, "I wish to stay with her and the boy." I blushed, hoping Optimus would say yes. I never even though that after this that Bee would leave Earth and if he did, I had no idea what I would do without him.
"If that is their choice-"
I nodded without hesitation, interrupting the large mech. "Yes, definitely." I knew that if Bee's mouth plates could turn into some sort of smile, I knew they would.
