Nanao was nervous. Shunsui was coming over in a few minutes, and though she is excited for this date, she is freaking out. Though she has her own beauty, she did not go on many dates in her life, with those men saying that she was too serious and too boring for them to continue dating. Due to that, she does not have much self-esteem when it comes to dating, hence her worry. That, and the men she went on dates with were complete idiots.

'Why did Karin and Yuzu already leave to go on their dates? I really need them to help me calm down' Nanao thought. Before she could continue pacing in her living room, the doorbell rang and she bolted to the door.

Calming down, she opened the door and there he was, Shunsui Kyouraku, the man she is starting to fall in love with.

"Hello, Shunsui" Nanao said with a smile as she accepted his flowers and invited him in for a little bit.

"Good evening, my lovely Nanao-chan," Shunsui replied back with his own smile. He then did a quick survey of the apartment Nanao lived in.

It was simple really. There was a small living room that was connected with the kitchen and the dining room. There were no walls that connected them but it felt comfortable and open. Looking down the hall, there were four rooms, one of them being a laundry room and the other three rooms are the bedrooms. It was nice and homey.

"Nice place" Shunsui commented.

"Thanks. Where are going?" Nanao asked as they left the apartment for their date.

"That, my dear, is going to be a surprise," Shunsui said with a lazy grin. Nanao couldn't help but become more attracted to him even more. They continued chatting while Shunsui was driving them to the restaurant. When they arrived, Nanao couldn't believe her eyes.

"Surprised?" Shunsui said with a grin.

"Yes. I kinda expected that we would go to a restaurant that was more relaxed and calm, not a well known restaurant for rich people" Nanao said, still coming over the shock.

At this Shunsui sighed. "Well, that would have happened but when I mentioned that I have a date with you to my mother and sisters, they insisted that we come here so they could meet you." Shunsui said. The women in his family can be quite demanding. It's quite frustrating; no matter how much you love them.

"Why do they want to meet me? This is our first date, not a marriage proposal," Nanao said as they sat down at their table and were given their menus.

"Of all the women that I introduced to them, they did not like them and they insulted each girlfriend to their face as well. That in itself put me in a difficult place, defend my family in front of my girlfriend and defend my girlfriend in front of my family. Then the girlfriends would dump me because of my mother and my sisters, and then my mother and sisters insist that I have my first date with each girl I ask out to be here at the family restaurant. Pain in the ass really," Shunsui said with the sigh.

"They're not gonna try and scare me off are they?" Nanao asked.

"I hope not. I like you too much for my family to scare you off," Shunsui said.

"Shunsui, you better not be trying to give your pretty date a bad impression of your family. After all, we are trying to make sure that you don't end up hurt by someone who did not love you back" a woman said as she came up to the table where they sat and gave Shunsui a kiss on the cheek.

"I am just preparing Nanao-chan of what she can expect from our family, nee-san. I also appreciate what you are trying to do but I think I can make my own judgments," Shunsui said.

The woman just smiled as she turned to Nanao. "Hello, I'm Ayame, Shunsui's older sister. It's nice to meet you" Ayame said.

"It's nice to meet you too. I'm Nanao. I hope we can get along," Nanao said with a slight smile.

"Oh, I like you already," Ayame gushed, her eyes sparkling. 'This is the one, I think" Ayame thought. "Well, I'll leave you guys to eat and I'll come back a little later with my younger sister and mother. They want to meet you before you two leave." Ayame said and she left.

"Nanao-chan, I think you bewitched my sister. This is the first time that she actually liked a girlfriend that I brought home," Shunsui said in awe.

"Well, there must be something about me that made her like me," Nanao said with a slight shrug.

"Well, enough of my family. What about you Nanao-chan? What is your family like?" Shunsui asked.

"They are strange, to say the least. You get a mixture of personalities and because of that, there is never a dull moment. Though, to an outside person it might look like that they are all trying to kill each other" Nanao said with a smile.

"Sounds like your family is as strange as mine, Nanao-chan" Shunsui said and they both laughed. They continued having a good time, forgetting that Shunsui's mother and sisters want to meet Nanao later.

As they were paying and standing up to leave, Ayame came back with two other women.

"Nanao, I would like to introduce my younger sister, Yuuki and my mother, Hana" Ayame said.

"It's nice to meet you both" Nanao said.

"Its nice to meet you too, Nanao. Before you leave I would like to know a little bit about your family, if that is all right" Hana said.

"Which family?" Nanao asked.

"What do you mean by which family?" Yuuki said.

"I'm adopted. My parents died when I was three years old and I got adopted when I was six," Nanao said and everyone looked at her in shock.

"Well, I guess your adoptive family then. How are they like?"

"They are nice. They took good care of me and I could never have asked for a better family to take me in and make me their own," Nanao said. With that, Shunsui and Nanao left and started to walk around the town.

"What's the matter Shunsui?" Nanao asked.

"That you never really knew the family that you were born in" Shunsui said as he looked down to look at her.

"I'm not bothered by it and neither should you. From what I barely remember and what I am told, my father was an alcoholic and drug addict who abused my mother and me, and my mother was a recovering alcoholic and she was depressed most of the time. Maybe someday I would learn more about my family, but right now, I am happy knowing with what I know," Nanao said and they went on to have a great night.

As they reached Nanao's door, Shunsui kissed her and asked if she will be his girlfriend. She agreed with a smile on her face.
