Chapter 14: A Day in the Life of the Most Powerful Man in the World

Harry sat calmly in the New York office building of Integrated Technologies, the largest wizarding electronics store that catered to both magical and non-magical peoples.

Bryce Perry was sitting across from him, sweating. Never had he been as intimidated as he was at the moment sitting in front of two of the most imposing people he had ever met. A month ago, when he had glimpsed Evan Magius and Mika Seiko, they had not appeared all that threatening, but now, as he was sitting in front of him, the old wizard was sweating more than he had ever sweated before. They seemed to exude magical power. Their expressions twin masks of wintery chill. They had been negotiating the contract between their two companies which stated he would manufacture and carry their products but they had not been happy with the profit margins that he was suggesting.

Harry sighed deeply, fixing the older wizard with a critical eye, "Mr. Perry. Now, we may be a new company, only roughly a month old, but we are not stupid. Can you tell me what is wrong with the contract you have offered to us."

Although a lie came to his lips, he decided that it was more profitable to go with whatever they said. He knew they could buy out their entire company if they wished, Magius's Chief Business Officer could bully it through at half the net worth of the company, but didn't want to bother as it would have caused them numerous problems with management. In the worst case scenario, they could always approach his other competitors, and Perry would have to watch while the company he started from scratch went bankrupt around him. He had to give in. It was his only choice.

"I am so sorry Mr. Magius. My advisors suggested-"

"Well they suggested wrong didn't they Mr. Perry," Harry asked.

Nodding fiercely, Perry said, "Yes they did Mr. Magius. We will go back to the old contracts right away. Margerie! Do you have the old contracts?"

The aging secretary handed them to the old wizard, "Thank you so much Margerie," said Perry, "These are the older contracts with the pricing you have suggested. If you wish to look them over?"

Harry nodded as Mika took the files and started reviewing it.

"I am happy that we can come to an agreement this early Mr. Perry. The offers from Circuit City and CompUSA have been intriguing as well. Did you know they had Wizarding branches Mr. Perry? I always-" Harry cut off shortly when Mika handed him the contracts and nodded, "Well Mr. Perry, it seems we find ourselves with a deal."

Signing his name with the fountain pen, he handed the contract to Perry, who quickly signed it and said, "Thank you so much Mr. Magius. Magitek Industries will not regret it."

Harry smiled and nodded at the old man, "I know we won't Mr. Perry. Have yourself a nice day."

And with that, they left his office.

As soon as they were gone Perry collapsed in his comfortable chair. I never want to get that look from them ever again, he thought to himself as he poured a large glass of brandy. Margerie, seeing the man she had worked for over twenty years, was shocked. How could the businessman let them do that to him!?

"Bryce," she said, sitting down across from him, "Why did you back down from them. I've never seen you back down from anyone before."

The man, after downing the entire glass, refilled it and replied, "You don't know Marge. The strength of presence, their power, it was like sitting there in the middle of a snow storm naked. It chilled me to the bone the way they looked at me when I tried to make the rates lean in our favor. They're new, but they don't miss a thing. I would never want to meet that boy in a dark alley Marge."

Downing the last glass, he finished, "Give their reps everything they ask for. Don't hold anything back. Give them all the privacy they need and don't try to spy. Anyone that gives them lip, fire them immediately. Make sure our people know that their word is law. I don't want to get that boy mad at me.

As soon as they got into the Limo, Mika and Harry collapsed with laughter.

"Oh Goddess, Evan. I can't believe you did that to that poor man at the end!" she said, tears of mirth streaking down her face.

Chuckling to himself, Harry replied, "and what about what you did, the killer look that make him nearly crap himself? Geez I wish I had learned that!"

Shaking her head and finally calming down she said, "Well that makes North America under the Magitek Corporation. By this time next year, we'll have our products in every westernized country on the planet."

Over the past month, their products had spread all over the Japanese market. Their primary communications company had sold millions of international dollars in cellular units and service, and their other companies had sold televisions, appliances, computers, and other amenities that made them richer than he could have ever dreamed. Harry could have went back then and used his influence to take over the entire government of his old home, but he wanted to bide his time. Make sure he could build a stable economic base before attempting his coup.

His next goal after his North American companies were doing well, was to enter the French economy. Wizarding France had the best economy in the world, and Harry wanted a part of that. Once there, he could use France as a spring board into the rest of Europe. But then, that would bring him very close to Voldemort and his war. Harry wanted to stay clear of that war as long as possible, but knew that he couldn't and would be forced into it in the next few months.

"Evan?" Mika said, trying to get his attention. He had been staring off into space for the longest time and she was starting to worry.

Snapping out of his thoughts he replied, "Hmm?"

"We've got another meeting at five. Do you want to get something to eat first. We have been in that meeting for four hours and missed lunch." she reasoned.

Smiling, he replied, "Sure, sounds great. You pick this time, but no Thai food. Last time we ate there, I was sick for a week."

AN: There you go…Look, I know it's a little fast for them to be moving into the US after just creating their company, but you've got to look at it from a magical perspective. They can zip around instantaneously with magical energy; they can create things out of nothing…you've got to admit that it would be plausible for something like this to happen when you add magic to the mix…(Author shifts his eyes, at the disbelief of the readers)…well…er…ITS MY STORY DAMN IT SO THERE!...REVIEW!
