CHAPTER 14-
Two days after the ball, was Christmas day. I had received a small black owl for my birthday that I named Estella, and Draco and I had been sending letters back and forth to each other during Christmas Eve. On my desk were fifteen pieces of parchment, all with his handwriting on from yesterday. As I woke, I remembered their contents and smiled. I got up, intending to head to my desk and re-read all of them before I sent him a note saying happy Christmas, but someone knocked on my door before I could.
'Come in.' Blaise opened the door, smiling at me.
'Happy Christmas, Isobel.'
'You too, Blaise.'
'What are those?' He asked, walking over to where I was stood at my desk.
'Letters from Draco.' He rolled his eyes, still smiling.
'Come on. There's a surprise for you in the dining room.' The dining room was where our Christmas tree was, the multi-coloured muggle lights that I had suggested using twinkling against the wood panelling that was around the entire room. All of the presents were laid out on the table, my parents sat together with Andromeda on chairs. Next to them, stood up and holding Teddy in his arms, was Draco.
'Draco!' He grinned and I ran to him, trying not to squish his cousin as I hugged him.
'Merry Christmas, Izzy.'
'Iso! Iso!' Teddy bit his bottom lip happily with the two teeth he had and struggled in Draco's hold.
'He wants you to hold him. Do you mind?' I shook my head and my boyfriend handed me the toddler, and I smiled as Teddy nestled his head into the crook of my neck, his eyes closed. 'I think he likes you.' I stuck my tongue out at him and sat on the table, Draco and Blaise sitting on the floor as we handed out presents. My parents had given me a load of new books, more than I could read in a month, and Blaise had bought me a new quill: it was black with a rubies all the way up the spine of the feather. Andromeda handed me a present that was from her, Draco and Teddy. I took the wrapping paper off, revealing the first edition of Hogwarts: A History.
'Oh, Andromeda! You shouldn't have!'
'It's fine. It was Draco's idea. Besides, you were good friends with my daughter and her husband when they were still with us, and you've forgiven my nephew for everything he's done to you. This is a way of saying thank you.' I glanced and Draco, and he was looking at the floor, his lips set in a stern line. We were in silence for a few moments until my mum stood up.
'Well, the house elves have made cookies. So let's go down to the kitchens and eat them.' Mum, Dad and Blaise left, as did Andromeda after she took the sleeping Teddy carefully from me. When everyone but me had left, Draco finally looked up.
'Are you okay?'
'I suppose.' Not really knowing what to do, I left the dining room and started walking to the kitchens, but it wasn't long until I heard someone's footsteps behind me, and they had taken my hand. 'I'm sorry, Izzy.' I looked up at Draco and shrugged.
'It's fine. I've already told you that it's fine.' He squeezed my hand and we began talking properly, mainly about the letters we had sent to each other. 'I didn't think you could write that fast.'
'I can when it's for you.' I blushed and would have kissed him if the door to the kitchens hadn't come into view, my dad watching us as we approached.
'You better hurry up: Blaise is hungry.' We both smiled and went through the door, Blaise sat surrounded by cookies. His eyes were wide as he looked around the room, his mouth and lips set in almost a maniacal grin.
'This is the best part of Christmas by far.' We all sat down on stools, waiting patiently for Andromeda, who returned without Teddy, who had gone for a nap. Draco and I sat cross legged on one of the side boards, feeding each other pieces of cookies, laughing loudly as we pulled funny faces at each other.
'Close your eyes.' I looked at Draco strangely. 'Please. Close your eyes and open your mouth slightly.' I glanced at my dad at the other side of the room, but he had his back to us. I did as Draco asked me to, and I felt a cookie on my lips after a few seconds. I leant forwards to take it in my mouth, but it was moved away from me. I rested my hands on Draco's knees on front of me, leaning forward further, finding the cookie once more. I caught it in between my teeth before he could take it away from me again, and began to eat, eventually coming into contact with another pair of lips. I felt Draco smile against my mouth, both of us eating the cookie together, ending up kissing the melted chocolate off each other's lips.
I pulled away, rolling my lips together, leaning my forehead against Draco's. The silver colour of his eyes was barely visible from the dilation of his pupils and I smiled at him.
'Everyone's looking at us.' I turned to look at the other people in the kitchen, my dad and Blaise slightly pale, Andromeda and my mother grinning at my blushing face.
New Year's Eve came around quickly, and I ran around the house trying to find my brother when I heard that the Greengrass' were coming to our house that night. I found him in the family portrait gallery on the top floor of the manor. 'Guess what, Blaise.'
He glanced up at me from his Transfiguration Christmas homework which he still hadn't done. 'Surprise me.'
'Daphne's coming here with her family for New Year's Eve.' Blaise almost dropped his quill.
'Daphne? Daphne Greengrass?' I nodded, grinning. He scribbled something down at the end of his parchment and rolled it up quickly, deeming his essay finished.
'I need to go and have a shower. Do you know what colour Daphne's eyes are?'
'Why on earth would I know that? Besides, haven't you been staring into them for the past eight birthday balls?' He sighed.
'I think her eyes are an amber colour. Am I supposed to remember things like this?'
'I would be surprised if you did.' He smiled and left, and I followed him out, leaving him at the second floor landing to go and get ready with my mum. I skipped down the corridor, the plush red carpet feeling too soft to be real in between my toes. I arrived at my parent's bedroom, knocking on the door before I entered. There was huge four poster bed in the middle of the room, and my mum was sat at her dressing table to the right of it. She turned and smiled when she saw me.
'Isobel! Time to get ready?' I nodded and we helped each other do our hair and makeup before we took our dresses out of her wardrobe. My mother was wearing a floor length blue gown and her hair was up in a bun whilst mine was loose around my shoulders. I was wearing a dress with a one shoulder strap, the top half covered in golden sequins and the bottom was floaty black skirt that went down to my knees.
'My shoes are in my bedroom. I'll meet you in the drawing room.' I went back to my room, finding a small note attached to Estella's leg when I arrived.
I can't wait to see you tonight. DM xxx
I grinned and grabbed my small golden heels from the foot of my bed and quickly slipped them on before going to the drawing room. My parents were already there, as well as the Greengrass'. Astoria, their four year old, was sat on the floor by the balcony, cuddling a house elf. I laughed quietly at Andrea's face as she was man handled by the little girl, and I heard Daphne's voice.
'Astoria, but the poor house elf down.' The little girl stuck her bottom lip out at her sister and hugged Andrea tighter. I smiled and walked over to Daphne. She was stood with Blaise, wearing a knee length black dress and her straight golden hair fell down her back, amber eyes glinting in the candlelight of the room, which my brother, stood talking to her, was enchanted by. 'Hello, Isobel.' I smiled at her and we spoke briefly, Blaise still staring at her through its entirety. She either hadn't noticed or didn't care that he was. She eventually went to ask her parents something, who were talking to our parents, and I nudged Blaise slightly.
'Grow a pair and ask her out.'
'I will at midnight.'
'In front of mum and dad? Take her for a walk in the garden or something.' He smiled at me in thanks, told me that it was ten minutes until midnight, then walked over to Daphne, who smiled at this request, and they left the room together. A few seconds later, I felt someone's arms slide around my waist.
'Hello, gorgeous.' I glanced up at Draco.
'You're not too bad yourself.' We both smirked and he kissed my cheek. 'It's almost midnight. Do you want to go somewhere else?'
'Where did you have in mind, Princess?' I blushed at the nickname and bit my lip.
'The library.' He smirked once more and we left hand in hand, making sure that no one was watching us as we did. We walked silently, squeezing each other's hands every so often as we went, the tension growing to an almost painful point by the time we got to the library. Draco opened the door softly, closing it quietly so no one would hear us through the quiet Manor. He led me to the back of the library and pushed me gently against a bookcase and kissed me tenderly, building it up slowly until we both pulled away, out of breath.
'You still think you're too unexperienced for me, don't you?' I nodded, trying not to look directly into his eyes. 'Will you let me teach you?' I met his eyes again, looking at him strangely this time. 'I won't do anything you don't want to do.'
'Okay.' I said it quietly, and I didn't think he heard at first, not until he started kissing me again. His hands travelled up from my waist, tracing gentle patterns up the sides of his body. My eyes rolled back slightly, not knowing that sensation, his hands moving mine so they were wrapped around his neck, and I threaded my fingers into the hairs at the nape of his neck. He began to move the one strap of my dress down my arm, going slowly, giving me plenty of opportunity to tell him to stop.
Draco moved his kisses down my throat, and I pulled tighter on his hair as he sucked on the skin covering my collar bone. He kissed down the top of my chest, and as he came to the top of the fabric, I realised what he was about to do. I thought about what my dad said the day before the ball, and quickly put my hands on Draco's shoulders, pushing him away slightly, despite the pleasure I was feeling.
'It's alright, Izzy.' He put the strap of my dress back on my shoulder and glanced at his watch. 'Ten seconds.' We walked over to the window that over looked the garden and waited, fireworks going off at midnight. Their rainbows of colour filled the sky over Wiltshire and I smiled happily at the view. I looked down into the garden, and saw Blaise and Daphne by the pond. 'Bloody hell, they're going for it, aren't they?' I laughed at Draco's comment at my brother's kissing and stole my boyfriend's lips for a few seconds before telling him a happy new year.
