"My Queen..." Leto bowed as a viidian guard fell limp off of his tail and thudded against the metal floor. "It seems they were about to destroy the only sample remaining."

"How unfortunate that would have been." Praenuntius smiled coyly as Laquese threw a man into the room.

The man's face had several deep cuts all over his face, but he stood although it was slow and obviously pain filled. He met the eyes of Leto and then Praenuntius. Then he sighed and shook his head. "We promised to destroy it..." His cut up face slurred a few words, but his meaning was clear enough.

"Dearest Doctor..." Praenuntius smiled as she walked over to the man and began her own work.

"No..." The Doctor shook his head as he tried to figure out why his vision suddenly blurred and why it suddenly got very bright. "We can't..." He stumbled. "No more monsters..." He started to cough.

"You are strong Doctor..." Praenuntius smiled softly. "Give me something to remember my brother by please."

"No..." The man's face became red as he began to fight back

"Amazing." Leto observed. "Did the black weaken the control that much?"

"In exchange for other favors my love." Praenuntius said with a sigh as she pressed a single claw against the man's skull, a clear liquid then ran into the wound. "You will make my brother again..." This time the man simply nodded and stood. "Leto, make sure he follows orders."

"Of course my love." Leto smiled as he led the doctor away.

"Jeht!" Praenuntius shouted, her hive sibling stepped into view of the doorway. "Please find me the commander of this station. We need to discuss the failing environmental controls here."

Jeht merely smiled as he walked off, screams of a few guards and nurses echoed in time with his steps.

Leto lead the entranced doctor to the cloning laboratory. The Doctor began to do his work in haste but also with caution as Leto made sure to let him know failure would not be tolerated and the punishment would be severe. He kept an eye on the doctor throughout the whole process, and was quite pleased with the speed at which the man worked. Then he stopped.

"What's wrong?" Leto snapped, worried the control had worn off.

"The genome is damaged. Only the human DNA remains." He answered slowly.

Leto merely snapped off a small spine from his shoulder and ignored the pulse of pain. "Use my own DNA for that, so long as it has his human DNA we will be happy."

"Of course." The Doctor nodded.

Silence passed for hours more as Leto perched himself almost always over the Doctor's shoulder. Leto was please when the Doctor merely worked around him. He was beginning to think of appropriating the man for their hive. He watched in awe at the controlled man's skill, expecting at some point for the man to either break free or screw up due to the control. He did neither.

"Your name Doctor?" Leto asked.

"Saalmdir." The man answered.

"Do you know what I am?" Leto asked.

"Like Vile." Saalmdir answered coldly.

Leto felt his eyes go to a pin point. This was a friend of Vile's a perfect opportunity to strike and pull in their lost brother, or the perfect way for him to strike at them and given both his hive's lack of luck and Vile's propensity to have insanely good luck he did not wish to gamble on that. No he had a better plan.

"Doctor, what more is needed?" Leto asked, putting his plan aside for taking care of the newest member.

"As the cells grow and mature they will need to be constantly feed by those chemical tanks." Saalmdir pointed to three large metal tubes. "It should only take a few days at full growth promotion."

"Can this all be moved?" Leto gestured to the tank where their his new "brother" now grew.

"At this stage, yes, so long as power is maintained." The Doctor explained. "Once the cells reach enough maturity to form a fetus it will be unmovable."

"Excellent, how easy is it to maintain the feeding?" Leto asked as he put a taloned hand on the Doctor's shoulder.

"These buttons control the feeding."

Leto smiled and brought his claw across the face of the Doctor. The man never screamed and he drug him, bleeding and calm as he was to a small vessel that was still docked. Two guards inside quickly met their end. He tossed the Doctor onto a chair and strapped him down. Then he saw a golden opportunity in the corpses and pinned them to opposite walls in an out of the way alcove where he used their blood as paint and the voids in it as his ink. Then with a smile he walked over to the ship and locked it into the last known course of Voyager. He left the ship and laughed as it left the station, his message intact for his lost brother to find.

Then he felt the station shift and Jeht came whistling up to him.

"Prae's doing a colony drop." He grinned.

"Well then let us get out new brother out of here and onto our ship.

"Any idea on a name?" Jeht asked absentmindedly

"Praenuntius insists on calling him 'Julian'." Leto scoffed, "But it is technically her brother before the hive's even."

A little later the two watched as the station descended into the atmosphere of the Viidian home-world. The destruction it would leave made both the hybrids giddy with a sick glee only they could understand. Praenuntius, however was busy watching over her growing younger brother and she was quite pleased with the time frame given to her.

Three days passed until the glass womb containing the growing hybrid clone finally cracked as the raging mind inside freed itself. The creature found itself standing before others much like itself, but different and varied in appearance. Soon it found names for each and memories, to him more like reading a book than actually living them, came flooding into his mind. He faltered and collapsed to his knees as he felt another mind meet his, the female.

"Younger brother..." She walked over and held out her hand. "Do you know what you are?"

"A replacement..." It growled, "But loved nonetheless." He sensed a nagging absence despite the female connected to his mind.

"Impressive, I cannot read you." She sighed. "It must be the genetics Leto gave you."

"Yes." It growled as it sat and stared. It's, no his mind raced with anger and mistrust. These creatures were not his hive. They were pretenders and he would not stand for it. The memories of the old mind he identified as the Prince were clear: the Hive was lead by a large Queen, he was her enforcer. This was the way of things. These defilers were a corruption and they needed to be cleansed.

"Julian, what else can you tell us?" The one that the Prince's Memories identified as Leto spoke up.

"Julian?" He knew the name, it was part of the Prince's former human name. "Truly have you all sunk to this depth?"

"What?" Praenuntius moved swiftly away from the clone. "He's shut me out Leto."

"I see." Leto growled. "Know your place." He sent a wave of pain to the clone, but it did not flinch.

"Inferiors, defilers. I shall have your heads." Julian growled as he stalked forward.

"Laquese, kill it." Leto growled from outside the door of the room.

"No." Laquese smirked. "He's right. You broke free of the hive, took even me from that perfection. The Queen had given me new purpose."

"I gave you a clearer one!" Praenuntius snapped.

"To serve the whimsy of a spoiled brat?" Laquese snorted. "I've been waiting for this..."

The door slammed shut.

"I have a bad feeling about this..." Jeht sighed over the coms. "Oh and they're already in the vents. This is irony isn't it? He's heading for the remaining eggs. I'm cutting him off from them."

"I will not loose our hive to another Queen!" Praenuntius hissed.

"Nor will I my love." Leto growled. "I should have listened to you my Queen." He shook his head as the two stalked to the other hybrids.

"My love, for now let us worry about the threat to our future. We can blame you later." Praenuntius smirked as she pulled down a Hirogen rifle from a weapon's locker. "It's so very good that the others can't wield these."

"Let's just hope we can solve this before we meet your big brother." Leto sighed.

"Oh that would not go over well." Praenuntius shivered at the thought of what her real brother would do upon finding out about his clone.
