I was almost asleep in my chair at the world meeting, countries were mingling outside and exploring the scenery of Isle of Man's landscape. One leg was dropped over the arm of the seat, the other hanging off the front, and I was slid down into the very bottom, one eye open. These things never cease to be boring. A familiar voice sounded behind me, "You know when I first met you I thought you would develop into a more sophisticated country, not take after your cousin." A small smile formed on my lips and I turned the chair with my leg to face Britain, his arms crossed in front of him. "Hello, Eyebrows!" His eyes narrowed, "oh calm down I'm just teasing," I got up and held him tight, his arms soon finding their way around my torso. "It has been a while, love. How is life in the snow?" I clicked my tongue, "Well, when you make snow angels naked it's pretty bad." His featured were washed over with pure horror and disgust so I couldn't help but laugh, "That was also a joke."

He sighed, "I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it to your birthday, but how does it feel to be 18?" I sat back down in the chair and slouched, "I can't say I'm all too thrilled with growing up but it beats being 23." I winked at him and he shook his head with a smirk. "I made a friend." "I'm proud of you." "Yeahhhhh, she's taller than Russia." His eyes widened, "I can't say I think you're lying, but I'll believe it when I see it." I looked over to the main door to where Shannon had been talking earlier and waited for her to look over before gesturing for her to come over. She nods slightly and excuses herself before walking over to us. "Hey Emily, it's been a while!" she says when she gets closer. I detach myself from Britain and give her a quick hug. "How have you been? I'm sorry that I haven't talked to you much, Ivan has been drinking more vodka than usual lately so SOMEONE has to hide it from him." "It's fine," she says dismissively before looking over at Britain, "It's nice to see you again, Britain."

I looked between the two quizzically, "you know one another?" "Yes, despite the fact that I am self-governed, I am still a British Crown dependency. So I kind of have to know Britain for that, huh?" She says with a slight smile. I blink a few times and look over at Arthur who seems to have a slight pang of annoyance in his eyes, "Yes, this one was a stubborn git, possibly even more so than Alfred." I looked between the two again and giggled to myself quietly, "you're just jealous you're shorter aren't you?" "I am bloody not!" Shannon starts to giggle at his outrage, "To be fair we haven't spoken face to face in a long time," she says. "He hasn't seen me at all since I was really small." "And you were still a pain back then," he grumbled, my eyebrow perked up, "how long ago was that?" "Around 7 years ago, or something like that," Shannon says while looking towards Arthur for confirmation. He nodded while counting on his fingers, "I presume that is correct."

I yawned slightly and crossed my arms, thinking to myself. "So does that technically mean that you are brother and sister?" "Sorta, actually before Arthur I was ruled by Scotland who is Arthur's brother." I sat on the floor, "too many connections between countrieeeeeeees!" I shook my head, "this is worse than the meetings themselves!" "Sorry about that Emily, anyway, we should probably go back to our seats, it looks like the meeting is about to start," Shannon says while helping me back up. I rub the back of my head, "it's fine. Also for disclaimer, whatever happens during the meeting please be aware that it is normal."

Shannon's POV -

Never did I expect to see such behavior between what I thought were sophisticated and respectable countries. America is eating hamburgers non-stop and no one can understand anything he is saying, except for the occasional, "and I'm the hero!" Britain looks as though he wants to murder France over something ridiculous the frog had said, and Germany is glaring at Italy who seems to have fallen asleep and is dreaming of pasta. It feels like a circus and I don't know what to do or where to look. Eventually, my gaze falls on Emily, "how the hell is this normal?!" I declare, gesturing to the madness around me. She has been sitting back quietly in her chair, feet crossed and propped up on the table, "well, with the normal behavior shown at these meetings, I'd say that this is a lot less rambunctious than usual." France had run over to her chair and began taunting Britain with her. "Listen here, Frog Face! Keep it up and he won't be the only one shoving your damned croissants up your ass!" The two had begun to run around her chair, bickering back and forth. "THAT'S IT!" Emily sprang up from her formerly calming position and began chasing France around the room; this was quite a sight. It eventually got to the point where I couldn't even handle thinking about what was going on. I had always been more of an introvert so the fact that I was hosting this meeting alone was astounding, and now that everything else was happening I was more than a little overwhelmed. I just put my head down on the table and tried to tune everyone out. After a minute or two Emily seemed to notice my distress, stopped chasing the damned frenchie, and walked over to me. "Hey, you okay? You look tense. Need a heating pack? Chocolate? Peanuts?" I sat up and looked at her, "No, I'll be fine, thank you, though. Just a bit overwhelmed I suppose." I tell her with a smile. She looked up to the others who were still yelling at one another obnoxiously, "well, either you can try to gain some more dominance here by telling them off or if you want I can, either way, I know you'll be embarrassed to draw such attention to yourself." I slowly nod my head in agreeance with what she had said. I thought about it a moment before I realized that as small islands, we didn't have much power. I quickly looked over to Germany who looks about as done with all this nonsense as I am. I manage to catch his eye and I silently plead that he understands. Just before he yells angrily throughout the room, Emily's voice resounds off the walls, "HEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY! RESPECT YOUR HOST A LITTLE! SHE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO LET US GATHER HERE TODAY, NOW PULL YOURSELVES TOGETHER AND SHUT UUUUUP!" All eyes were on her but she crossed her arms and sat back down in her chair as though nothing had happened. To my amazement, they listened and all sat back down in their chairs and were quiet. After a moment the meeting actually started and continued without many more disruptions. Soon the meeting ended and countries started to file out. I quickly ran over to Emily and gave her a hug, "thank you so much for what you did back there! I don't know how you did that or why they listened, but thank you!" I'm practically gushing but chose to ignore it. She gave a small smile and hugged me back, "It's my pleasure, Gigantor. They're all annoying so you just gotta learn how to deal with them," she shrugged as though it was nothing. "I'm not that tall you know. But thanks again, Em." I smile and give her another quick hug before she leaves. Now all's that's left is to clean up now that the circus is gone…..wonderful.
